Lost 24k Gold Wedding Ring Recovered in Atlanta, GA

  • from Newnan (Georgia, United States)

Hamil in Atlanta contacted me about his recently lost wedding ring. He had just finished some yardwork and was standing on his raised porch brushing grass off his pants when his ring came off. He heard it “ping” on the rocks below but after hours of searching, he was unable to find it. He continued his visual search for a few days, but was still not able to locate the ring. He described the ring as a 24k gold band with he and his wife’s initials engraved on the inside of the band. I began my search by working the grassy area in a grid pattern. I found several pull tabs, a key, and other various metal objects, but no ring. Next, I searched in the landscaped area which is covered in river rocks but still no ring. After 2 hours of searching, I mentioned to him the only place I am unable to search is near the metal edging separating the river rocks from his grass. So he pulled up the metal edging so I could search that ground. Sure enough, after just a few more minutes of searching, I got a soft 50 signal on my Equinox 900 and out popped his gold wedding ring! Hamil was thrilled to have his ring back!

Team Work to Find and Return a Wedding Band – Osterville, MA

  • from Cape Cod (Massachusetts, United States)

August 9, 2026

On one of the warmest days so far of this summer a plunge into the cool water of Nantucket Sound for a bit of catch, Dan started on experience that no married person wishes to endure. He lost his wedding band in the surf. Hours of visually searching the sandy bottom did not uncover the ring. Danโ€™s sister was doing a bit of searching herself, but her time was not under water, but on the internet where she located TheRingFinders.com and ultimately my phone number and me. Kimberly called me and within a few minutes I had all the information I needed about the ring and a place I could park.

About an hour later I met Kimberly, got my gear ready and was heading down the path to the beach where I met Dan and the rest of the party. Unusual, but of great help, everyone pretty much agreed on the area where the ring would have been lost. So I was off to the right side of a buoy and started covering the area in rows perpendicular to the sandy beach. At the far side of the area without finding the ring I turned 90 degrees and started searching rows parallel to the beach. Again after covering the area I expanded the area in all four directions, again nothing. It was time to search in rows diagonally to the original box.

The tide was now on the rise and the increasing wind brought in higher waves. But I felt more comfortable as I was now waist deep in the water, one bit of the initial information I was given. After about three hours of searching, the party on the sand was packing up and I was running out of area I had not covered. Dan came to me and thanked me for my efforts as he was also leaving the beach. Well all that I was going to do as a last effort for the afternoon was to make four passes from the sand where Dan entered and exited the water before he noticed the ring was not on his finger.

Pass one, nothing. Pass two, nothing. Pass three nothing and then pass four I was heading in when a wave knocked me off balance and interrupted my swing pattern. When I started my swing pattern again there was a signal that I had to dig. YES, a ring in my scoop it looked like the ring I had been searching for during the past 4 hours.

There was only one person left on the beach and that was Mark, Danโ€™s father. Mark could not positively identify the ring and texted the news to those that had made it back to the house. We made the walk to the parking area, the ring was identified and Dan and Jennifer had been called back as they had left the area just seconds before the ring was identified.

Kimberly was the last to join the group, missing all the Thank-Yous, hugs, hand shakes and pictures. In my thoughts, I knew Kimberly was the real hero in having found a real Ring Finder to get the ring back where it was meant to be.

I have to believe the entire family of beach goers can really pull together, are well organized and a fun loving family. Yes one of the best groups I have had the pleasure of helping through a tough time of one of their own. I have to thank everyone of them for making me feel as one of them.

What a day July 11th turned out to be! I was already running on pure adrenaline after completing two successful ring rescues earlier in the day. Just as I was wrapping up, my phone buzzed with an urgent text from a local Old Orchard Beach resident named Brittany.
She was looking for her husband Trent’s lost wedding band, but she knew the odds were heavily stacked against them.

While Brittany’s text mentioned swimming, it turned out Trent’s ring actually slipped off up in the dry sand right along their towel line. In many ways, this made the situation even more urgent.
This is a heavily used, packed summer beach. For over 48 hours, that heavy tungsten ring sat exposed to countless feet. Our biggest fears? A passerby spotting it, another metal detectorist scooping it up, or worseโ€”the massive beach-cleaning rakes scooping it into the trash during a morning sweep.
Funny thing about this ringโ€”itโ€™s a bit of a traveler! Trent and Brittany have only been married for one year, but Trent had actually lost this exact same ring once before on a cruise earlier this year. They managed to find it themselves on the ship, but lightning had just struck twice in Ocean Park!
I headed straight out and immediately met Trent down at Ocean Park. Having him there was a massive helpโ€”he walked me right to the exact spot where he and Brittany had set up their towels and chairs.
As I started a meticulous grid search through the dry sand, we weren’t alone. A family was still enjoying the beach that night, including Kim, who happened to be a big fan of The Ring Finders of Maine! She was incredibly excited to watch the live search unfold right in front of her.
Suddenly, a beautiful, crisp signal hit my headphones. I moved the top layer of sand, and there it wasโ€”the heavy, 6mm tungsten ring with its distinct gold rim, completely safe from the rakes and crowds. I flipped it over, checked the inside, and confirmed the initials: BJG.

The moment the ring was pulled from the sand, Trent raised his arms, victoriously, into the air. He then gave me a high five ๐Ÿ™Œ and a big hug๐Ÿค— . Kim and her family broke out into immediate applause ๐Ÿ‘ ! It was such an awesome, high-energy moment on the beach.
Handing the ring right back to Trent on the spot was the perfect ending to an unbelievable day. This marked my third successful recovery and return in a single day! There is truly no better feeling than saving a piece of family history just in the nick of time and handing it back to grateful local residents.
A huge thank you to Kim for your wonderful support and for cheering us on! Welcome home, Trent’s ring (again)! ๐Ÿ’

Wedding Ring Recovered from Candlewick Lake, IL

  • from Lake Geneva (Wisconsin, United States)

July 4th Paddleboard Mishap

July 4th, 2026, the 250th anniversary of the United States of America.ย  For many Americans that day, it was a day of gathering with friends and family.ย  A day off work.ย  A day to reflect and to relax.ย  To eat good food, paddleboard andโ€ฆ lose your wedding ring?ย  Jackโ€™s Independence Day was memorable in more ways than one.ย ย

Jack was paddleboarding. For many paddleboarders, the transition from knees to standing can be a struggle.ย  And like many paddleboarders, Jackโ€™s paddleboarding turned to swimming, and in the process, his wedding ring slipped off his finger.ย ย

The proverbial needle in a haystack pales in comparison to the task of finding Jackโ€™s lost wedding ring in Candlewick Lake near Poplar Grove, IL.ย  Established in the early โ€˜70s, Candlewick Lake is a 210-acre lake in Boone County, IL.ย  Like many manmade lakes, it is generally shallow, has low to no visibility, and has a significant layer of mud at the bottom.ย  This makes these lakes especially difficult to search.

I met with Jack on July 7th.ย  After talking with him, I set out to search a rather large area.ย  Metal detecting is a game of inches.ย  One inch off while scanning an area could mean going home empty-handed.ย  Itโ€™s not always easy to pinpoint where you fell off a paddleboard 30+ feet from the shoreline.ย  And in the moment, most people are not thinking about a diver with a metal detector searching for the ring days later.

ย I started my grid search, going back and forth, popping up every few feet to make sure I was staying on course.ย  Jack was helpful from the dock, directing me when I strayed.ย  There were lots of targets, so I had to sift through the mud for pennies, fishing lures, sinkers, pipes, etc.ย  I even found a fishing pole, but no ring.ย  Each time I turned around to start a new path, I watched the sun descend toward the horizon, and I knew I might just run out of time.ย ย

I swam back to the dock and asked Jack to get into a kayak.ย  Could he put himself in the spot where he remembered falling in?ย  Once in position, I started scanning in concentric circles around his held position.ย  It wasnโ€™t long before I hit a good signal, and after sifting through the muck, I felt the shape I had been hoping for.ย  I surfaced and swam over to Jack.ย  There was the smile I had been searching for nearly two hours.ย  His ring was found.

If you or someone you know has lost a phone, ring, or other jewelry item, please call.ย  The smiles I enjoy when returning lost items are one of the best parts of what I do.

Ring Lost in Hampton VA

  • from Virginia Beach (Virginia, United States)

I was detecting in the water when A man came up to me and said he lost his ring out in neck deep water at low tide. The tide had come up and I was not able to get out deep enough. I came back the next day and went out neck deep and got a good hit. Digging in that deep water is tough. Your body is basically floating and you cant get weight on the scoop. You have to hit the scoop with your foot. It took a while but I was finally able to recover the ring!

Ring Lost at Ocean Beach found

  • from La Jolla (California, United States)

Amanda and Dan were spending the day at Ocean Beach. Amanda took off her 5 ring and placed them in some clothing for safe keeping. Her husband Dan later picked up that clothing and the rings flew off into the dry sand. They managed to find 4 of the rings, but, the fifth eluded their best efforts, which included using various sifters. When I got the call, we arranged to meet there at the site. Parking was virtually non-existent, forcing me to park over a mile away. I finally made it there and got the story of how it was lost and the recovery efforts used. I could see a 4 foot square area where they dug, sifted, and recovered the other 4 rings. I started gridding over that area, and just outside the area they had sifted, I got the sound and target I.D. I was looking for. A pleasure to meet you two, and thank you for the reward.

CRYSTAL COAST RING FINDERS LOCATE LOST NECKLACE PENDANT in SOFT SAND

  • from Emerald Isle (North Carolina, United States)

Pine Knoll Shores โ€“ Zack reached out about a special necklace pendant. His girlfriend Briana had been removing her necklace, which carried a pendant with both their initials, when one end of the chain slipped from her hand. The pendant came off while the chain was still swinging, and they had no idea where it landed. Zack searched for 20 minutes, and Briana was upset about the loss. He contacted Crystal Coast Ring Finders, and I headed there right away. I met Zack in the parking lot, and he led me to where Briana was guarding the spot. Within seconds, I got a solid signal, knelt down, and gently pulled the pendant from its hiding place in the sand.

(my photo of the pendant didnโ€™t do it justiceโ€”itโ€™s a beautiful gold)

Lost Gold Wedding Band and Jesus Medallion Recovered on Stone Harbor Beach, NJ

A Stone Harbor beachgoer lost his gold wedding band and Jesus medallion in the sand. Ring Finders South Jersey recovered both items within minutes.

Jake had just finished setting up his cool cabana on Stone Harbor Beach, New Jersey.

He sat down and removed his gold chain, wedding band, and Jesus medallion.

He carefully placed the jewelry down for safekeeping.

Unfortunately, both his wedding band and Jesus medallion fell into the sand.

Jake immediately realized something was wrong.

He searched the area for about 10 minutes.

Despite his efforts, he could not locate either valuable item.

A Stone Harbor lifeguard noticed Jake searching through the sand.

The lifeguard told him, โ€œI got a guy.โ€

He recommended calling John with Ring Finders South Jersey.

A Quick Response to a Stone Harbor Jewelry Loss

Jake contacted me, and I gathered the details about where the jewelry was lost.

I arrived at the Stone Harbor beach location approximately 15 minutes later.

Finding recently lost jewelry requires careful attention to the search area.

Sand can quickly hide small gold items.

People searching by hand can easily overlook a ring or pendant.

I began searching the area with my professional metal detector.

After a few swings, I received promising signals.

I then started a methodical grid search around the suspected drop zone.

This systematic approach helps ensure the search area receives thorough coverage.

Within minutes, I recovered Jake’s gold wedding band.

I continued searching for the second item.

The Jesus medallion was also recovered from the sand.

Both sentimental pieces were safely back with their owner.

A Five-Star Stone Harbor Review

Jake was extremely happy to have both items returned.

He later left this five-star review:

โ€œLooked for my ring and pendant for 10 minutes with zero luck. Called John and he was super responsive and quick to our spot on Stone Harbor beach. He found both pieces which were pretty well buried in the sand in less than 5 minutes. If you lose something at the beach, just call John!โ€

Stories like Jake’s show why contacting a professional quickly can make a difference.

Searching a beach alone can be frustrating, especially when jewelry is buried beneath loose sand.

Lost Necklace and Medallion Recovered in LBI โ€“ A Meaningful Family Heirloom Saved

Anthony posted in one of the local Long Beach Island (LBI) Facebook groups asking for help. His daughter had accidentally dumped a beach bag earlier in the day, unknowingly spilling a precious necklace and charms onto the sand. Dozens of people quickly jumped in to recommend my metal detecting recovery service, NJ Ring Finder, and around 1 a.m., Anthony sent an email through my business page.

I responded and asked him to call me in the morning, which he did. We discussed the details of the loss, and he mentioned his wife, Lisa, would be heading to the beach later that morning. I asked her to try and arrive early to secure the area where they had been sittingโ€”marking off at least 30 feet to the north and southโ€”since it was going to be a sunny and crowded beach day.

When I arrived, Lisa waved me down and walked me over to the spot. She carefully described what happened. Moments after turning on my detector and beginning the search, I received a solid low tone with a crisp, high-end chirp. I carefully scooped into the sand and out came an earring and a medallionโ€”one item they hadnโ€™t even mentioned at first. It turns out their daughter Naomi hadnโ€™t told them sheโ€™d lost an earring, and the medallion had detached from the necklace.

I scanned the area again and got another clean low signal. This one I was almost sure would be the chain and cross, and sure enough, I recovered both. The entire search took just minutes, but the emotional impact lasted much longer. The cross belonged to Naomiโ€™s grandmother, and the medallion belonged to her grandfatherโ€”both deeply sentimental family heirlooms that they feared were gone forever.

Everyone was stunned by how quickly I was able to recover such meaningful items. We shared a great conversation and some tears of relief before I packed up and headed out.

Lost Wedding Ring Recovered from Lagoon After 3 1/2 Minute Dive โ€“ Jersey Shore Success!

Recovery by Edward Trapper โ€“ NJ Ring Finder

Serving the Entire Jersey Shore and Beyond

I received a call from Kevin, who was hoping I could recover his lost wedding ring from a lagoon along the Jersey Shore. While out paddleboarding, he caught a football and watched in disbelief as the ring popped off his hand and dropped straight into the water.

With recoveries like this, itโ€™s absolutely critical to know exactly where the ring came offโ€”not just when it was discovered missing. Thankfully, Kevin was certain of the exact location. He had great reference points and solid landmarks, which gave me the confidence to accept the job.

I explained that I was extremely busy, but since the ring had settled on the lagoon floor, it wouldnโ€™t moveโ€”so there was no urgency as long as the location was precise. I coordinated with Buzz, whose next availability was Monday morning at 8 AM. Kevin said that was perfect, but asked to be kept on standby in case of a cancellation. Unfortunately, no earlier slots opened up.

That Monday, we met at the house bright and early. Buzz and I gathered all our the gear and made our way down to the jet ski dock. We decided to head out to the exact location Kevin had marked and take a look to assess visibility before beginning a full grid search.

As soon as Buzz dropped in, it was pitch blackโ€”no visibility at all. But after just a little bit of feeling around, he felt something solid. In total disbelief, he pulled up Kevinโ€™s wedding ringโ€”exactly where Kevin said it had fallen.

The entire underwater recovery took only 3 1/2 minutes. Thatโ€™s one of the fastest and most precise dive recoveries weโ€™ve done in murky water.

Kevinโ€™s parents were up on the upper deck watching the entire recovery unfold. When I held the ring up in the air, they were stunned. We snapped a few photos, talked for a bit, and moved on to the next call. What a great way to start the day!
