Lost My Rings at Crescent Beach

Couple weeks ago I got a text message from a young man stating that he lost two rings at Crescent Beach and asking if I could help? I replied right away with no response and called as well but didn’t hear from him till the next morning. Time is crucial on searches like this as we all know so many people are detecting beaches now that you have to respond quickly.

I talked to brown on the phone he told me the story about losing two rings wasn’t quite sure but felt it was somewhere on the beach from where he sat at the time he went into the water, after talking a bit longer I realized that he lost him over a week ago. He stated that there was a good chance it could’ve been by the log where he was sitting but it was 100% sure, we all know people hunt around the logs more than any other places on the beach because they know this is a great place for rings to be found.

Bryan could not meet me there but Google Earth me the location and when I got to the beach I FaceTime with him and we decided that where I was was the right location, it only took a few minutes before I found his first ring and then right beside it was the second ring. I got to tell you he was one happy camper! Even though these rings were not made of precious metal is sentimental value is off the scales!

Lost Diamond engagement Ring found at Presqu’île Provincial park

Was contacted by Dawn on Facebook about her loosing her diamond engagement ring at the beach in Presqu’île Provincial park. This ring was lost back on 2nd of July, over a month ago. She had taken the ring off and placed it inside a small purse for safe keeping while at the beach. During her drive back home, she reached inside her purse and noticed it was full of sand and the ring was gone. Hoping that the ring had simply fell out of her purse, we traded a few Google earth pictures and details of what had happened, due to the fact that is not local to the area and couldn’t show me exactly where they were sitting. I headed out to do what I love best, in hope that the ring was still there, if at all.  After a couple hours of gridding the beach, with very few targets, I finally got a great signal and pulled her ring out of my sand scoop. Another happy ending!!!

Mike gave me a call yesterday about his wife’s lost wedding band. The couple was on the beach in Avalon, NJ when Carly’s engagement ring and wedding band flew off her finger into the sand while applying sunscreen. They found the engagement ring but could not find the band. Mike called me and I met them shortly after to start the search. After a few swing of the metal detector, the ring was back on her finger.

Wedding ring recovered at Indian Lake, Scotts, Michigan

I was contacted by Suzanne S. about her wedding ring she thought was lost while swimming. The ring was very special to her as it was the last ring that her father-in-law made as a jeweler before he retired. When she got out of the water she noticed here ring was missing. My Ring Finder partner, Dave Boyer, and I went into the water and started a grid search around the dock and Float platform. After searching for about an hour and a half we got out of the water to question Suzanne more about where else she might have lost it. Suzanne came out of the house with her ring in her hand. She explained to us that prior to swimming she took her ring off to wash her hands and put it on the kitchen counter. Unbeknownst to her, her sister picked it up and placed it in a ring holder on the counter. Doubting herself as to the last time she saw it, she thought it had to be when she went swimming. It was a nice outing in the water and Suzanne was a very gracious host and thanked us for our time with a generous reward.

Have I mentioned lately that jewelry recoveries are my favorite part of my metal detecting obsession ??

I saw a Facebook post yesterday evening by someone saying his buddy had lost a wedding band “somewhere between the pool and down by the beach”. It sounded like a long shot but I’m always up for a challenge ! I went down this morning and spoke with Ryan, who had lost the ring, and he wasn’t exactly sure where it had slipped off his finger. He walked me down to the water at one of my favorite detecting spots where, coincidentally,  I had just spent about 2 hours detecting yesterday. Ryan explained that he had waded out about waste deep and the sat in the water to watch the sunset Friday night. He was VERY sure about where he had put his bag down and waded out, but that was about it.

I waded in with not a whole lot of confidence…… more like a wing and a prayer. Ok, LOTS of prayer. I then quickly realized I had not brought my waterproof headphones, I didn’t have my long pants on and there was jellyfish and mucky water, and I had even forgotten to ask if the ring was silver, gold, tungsten or stainless. 😳 Ryan was busy at work at a nearby breakfast buffet so I didn’t want to go bother him again.

Much to my suprise, and probably even more to Ryan’s, it wasn’t 30 min later when I came walking back in to the restaurant holding his beautiful ring.  I had to scoop 4 fishing weights, 14 pull tabs, 2 bottle caps and a penny first, but there was no mistaking the sweet sound of that shallow gold signal when I hit it about 10 or so yards to the right of where he thought he had been, and just at the edge of how deep I could go in without my waterproof headphones.

As always, the generous reward offered was declined. Doing what I love and seeing the look on Ryan’s face was reward enough !

Engagement Ring Lost At Emerald Isle Public Beach Has Been Found

Christin called me shortly after discovering her engagement ring was no longer in the beach bag.  Upon arrival, she explained it was either still on the beach or lost up around a public picnic area.  She said, if it was the latter, it was probably gone.  Her husband Justin and her escorted me to the beach area where they unsuccessfully tried to locate it with a metal detector.  Justin gave me decent size area to search and thankfully, it was after sunset and the area was clear of people.  As luck would have it, I started my search on the wrong side of the area and on one of my final passes through the marked area, my Minelab Equinox 800 sounded off once again with a solid signal.  As the sand cleared from my scoop, I noticed Christin’s beautiful rose gold with diamonds ring.  My pictures that evening were not very good as I wasn’t wearing my glasses and asked Christin for a daytime picture.  In a text, she stated “I’m still in shock that you were able to find it.”  Fortunately Christin called quickly as I know this area of the beach gets hunted by treasure finders very often.  I had no doubt, Friday night and Saturday would have had numerous people out seeking valuables.

Matt and his family spent some time on the beach in Atlantic City, NJ today. For safekeeping, he put his wedding band in his hat. As he was walking off the beach, he remembered that he didn’t put the ring back on. It was too late by that point. The ring was already lost in the sand. He gave me a call and I met him and his parents where they thought the ring could have dropped. After a few minutes of searching, I was able to recover the band!

Wedding Band Lost in the Driveway, Found and Returned Holden Beach NC

About 9:30 p.m. on Friday night I got a text saying “Hi Jim. I found your number online at the Ring Finders. I lost my wedding band today somewhere on the driveway which is covered with gravel. I spent all day trying to find it and I couldn’t. Sadly, today is our last day. We only have until tomorrow before 11 a.m. to find it. We are staying on Holden Beach. I wonder if you would have time to help us find it.” I called the number attached to the text and talked with Angelica and asked for the details. She was right to the point, there was a little spat and she walked out on the balcony and heaved her Wedding and Engagement rings. She said she got sunburned from searching all day and found her engagement ring but couldn’t find the wedding band. I told her I could be there in 45 minutes. She sounded a little hesitate, but I told her with tomorrow being Saturday almost all the tourists are going to be leaving and traffic would be a mess. She agreed, so I grabbed my Equinox 800 and headed out.

I arrived at 10:15 and parked in the driveway of the house next to theirs, which luckily, was vacant. She met me in her driveway and showed me where she found the engagement ring. I tested her wedding band with the Equinox, so I knew what I was looking for. She showed me where she was standing on the balcony, and I started searching the driveway around where she found her engagement ring. After about 20 minutes of searching the driveway, the adjacent strip of grass and part of the next driveway, I wasn’t finding her ring. Then I thought maybe the ring hit either a railroad tie along the driveway or the sidewalk, so I expanded the search. I asked Angelica if she had checked the roadway during her search and she had. I started searching the small stretch of grass between the sidewalk and road and got the signal I was looking for. Angelica was using the flashlight on her cell phone and we both got down on the ground and saw her ring at the same time. BA-Boom!!! There it was, hiding under a clump of grass. Angelica snatched it up and was so happy it was found. Things were patched up with the spat, her rings were back on her fingers, and all was good!

Lost Ring at Navarre Beach – FOUND!!!

I opened up Facebook two nights ago and saw that Pensacola Ring Finders had been mentioned in a comment. Ellyce told Amanda that if there was any hope, I could find her ring. I thought to myself as I turned in for the night that if Amanda reached out to me, I really hoped that I could live up to Ellyce’s trust in me. Sure enough the next morning I saw I had a text from Amanda and I quickly gave her a call. She told me that their family was staying in Navarre and that her niece Kaylee had lost her engagement ring in the surf while posing for a picture and they were pretty distraught. I told her that I could come out after work in the afternoon and I would be glad to help. When I got there I also got to meet Felix, Kaylee’s other half and you could tell that he was really concerned about losing Kaylee’s ring. The two of them walked me down to the water and told me where they thought the ring was lost and where they thought it might be. I started canvassing the area above the top shelf of sand with no luck and then switched to the deeper area below the shelf. I tried east and west and north and south and even expanded the search area a bit but I got nothing. Everyone had focused on two blue chairs on the beach and when two people who had helped the day before came up and confirmed the same location I thought, “ okay, it’s got to be down there I just can’t hear it”. I decided to use a trick I have learned over the years and I got down where the sand was being curled back into the shelf by the waves. I turned my machine onto a different pinpoint mode and cranked up the sensitivity. I got right in front of the chairs and heard a very faint grunt that was so deep I couldn’t hear it any other way. I started taking out sand with my scoop and after several tries I looked down and there sat Kaylee’s beautiful engagement ring 💍. That one surprised even me a little bit. 😃. I went up and showed Kaylee and as she started to cry and celebrate with her family I looked up the beach and saw Felix coming back from a trip to the room. I saw it dawn on his face that I had found it judging by all the happy smiles and he took off on a dead sprint and picked me up and jumped up and down with me in the air in celebration. This was a great reminder of why I do this and I want to thank everyone for having the trust to recommend me every time they do. I know that Kaylee and Felix are very thankful as well!  Congrats y’all.
