Received a text from Micah stating he thinks he lost his wedding ring while raking his lawn. I arrived after he got out of work and he explained that he raked his whole yard and bagged the leaves. About 2 hrs later he was out shopping with his wife and noticed his wedding ring was missing. His best guess was that it must be in his yard somewhere and it was not a small yard. He was pretty worried that he would never find it. He showed me the bags of leaves next to the garage and I said we would start by searching the bags. On the fourth bag of leaves I got the sweet sound of GOLD. We dumped the bag out and there was the beautiful yellow gold wedding band. He and his wife have been married for 2 years and we just saved the cherished item.

Yvette is a teacher in Darnstown, Maryland. During recess, one of her students ended up breaking Yvette’s gold chain off of her neck. As a result, a very special 14 karat white gold and multiple diamond cross (which her husband had given her 24 years earlier) went missing somewhere on the playground. The chain and three charms were eventually recovered but when Yvette and her staff searched for the missing pendant, all of their efforts led to no avail.

Yvette was heartbroken over the loss of her special crucifix. She immediately called her husband Richard for help and he heroically drove to the school with a metal detector hoping to find the lost piece of jewelry. After an hour of searching, Yvette’s husband threw in the towel and it was time to look for another solution.

I received a phone call from Yvette shortly after Richard had finished using the metal detector that he acquired to conduct their own search. They looked online and found my company, METAL DETECTING ADVENTURES INC which highlighted my successes in an elite directory of metal detectorists called THE RING FINDERS. I was excited to be asked to come to the search site to see if I could solve the mystery of the missing pendant!

When I arrived at the elementary school, I was greeted by Yvette, Richard and 20 excited children who were part of an after-school program. They were beyond intrigued to see if this item recovery specialist who was hired to save the day might possibly find Yvette’s beloved diamond cross.

I gathered up the necessary metal detecting equipment in my vehicle and then headed over to the search site with my client. The Bar-T children excitedly waited outside of the fenced in area of the tot lot in order to let the professional do his miracle work. And boy did a miracle happen!

As soon as I entered into the playground area, I asked my client where the three charms were recovered after the necklace was torn off of her neck Yvette pointed to the concrete sidewalk on the other side of the fenced-in area where all of the restless children were watching and waiting. I put my head over the fence and looked straight down where the children were hanging out. Literally within a second’s time, my eyes immediately locked in on Yvette’s missing 14 carat white gold and diamond cross! I couldn’t believe it! In one second I recovered my client’s beloved crucifix! I quickly and excitedly pointed directly at the discovered sentimental keepsake and yelled, “There it is!” All of the children including my clients looked straight down at where I was pointing and yet no one at first saw what I had identified! And then a moment later there was an eruption of cheers and excitement as I made my way through the playground gate in order to retrieve the little gold treasure that had been patiently waiting to be recovered! There it was… Yvette’s very special jewel! The search was over before it had officially begun!

Yvette’s beautiful diamond crucifix had been lying right there in the middle of the concrete that entire time since it was lost hours earlier that day! Countless adults and children had walked right over it and no one had any idea that the white gold and multiple diamond pendant had been resting there all along!

I have to admit that in all of the years of recovering hundreds of pieces of jewelry and other highly valued items for people, I have never found an item this quick before! What a fun “eyeball” recovery search indeed! The kids went crazy! I hugged my clients with jubilation and joy while many of the children extended their hands for countless fist pumps and high fives!

I will never forget this particular search story because this was a very rare situation. While I returned the metal detecting equipment to my vehicle, Yvette and Richard shared the amazing moment with teachers who opened up their windows on the second floor of the school just to find out what the commotion was all about! They too couldn’t believe where I located the cross!

As a metal detectorist and item recovery specialist, these are the kind of stories that continue to bring me great joy when sharing them with countless others who need the kind of hope and relief that I was able to successfully extend to my very happy clients, Yvette and Richard!

FAMILY HEIRLOOM RING FOUND IN WATERFALL

I had recently moved to Carmel, IN, and was itching to take on my next ring recovery. Not long after, I received a call from Dylan, who had lost no ordinary wedding ring. It had belonged to his grandfather, who had it crafted from the wedding rings of his own parents, Dylan’s great-grandparents. Generations of family history were tied into this single band. The ring slipped off at Hueston Woods State Park in Ohio, beneath a small waterfall pool where family and friends were escaping the heat.

The moment the ring was lost was chaotic and memorable. A group of kids upstream had been exploring the shallow river when they spotted a water snake and began chasing it, right toward the parents. The snake splashed into the pool, prompting a quick scramble to the surface. After nearly escaping, Dylan realized his ring was missing. Devastated, he returned the following week with a rented metal detector; however, his search was interrupted by the same snake!

Recovering the ring wouldn’t be simple. Since the ring had been lost in a state park where metal detecting is typically prohibited, I first contacted park staff and received written permission. I began the search in the pool and quickly realized I wouldn’t be able to dig due to the shale rock bottom. I had to resort to diving with a mask and retrieve every signal by hand. After several dives and plenty of lures, coins, and bits of trash, no ring was in sight. Near the edge of the pool, the detector finally gave a strong signal. I lifted a large flat stone, and there it was!

Handing the ring back to Dylan and seeing the relief on his face is something I will never forget. Recoveries like this remind me that sometimes we return more than a lost ring. We return a piece of a family’s story.

Lost Custom Wedding Ring near Lincoln Heights…Found!!

There once was a happy couple named Kassidy and Brian. They walked joyfully around a bike park while their kids rode their bikes. They sat for a while on a bench. Then they walked around the paths in the park and lastly headed back to their car. The days errands needed to be completed, so off to the grocery store they went. Then they returned back to their house. Kassidy had to begin working on the chores. Back and forth she went from left to right, walked all the while keeping a steady pace through each task. There were pumpkins to move, leaves to pile up, grumpy kids to tend to and then lastly a shovel to find. As Kassidy was walking with her shovel she could feel the coolness of the day creep into her hands. Nevertheless, Kassidy kept on working. Cleaning the chicken run, feeding and watering, and new bedding in the nesting boxes. The last step of putting fresh bedding in the nesting area caused another feeling to creep in. The last handful of wood shavings that she was throwing into the box, gave her a familiar feeling. Kassidy’s ring was gone. The fact of the matter was this wasn’t the first time that ring had fallen off. In fact, she knew the very sound it made when it would fall off of her hand and hit the ground. This time was different; the not so happy couple hadn’t the foggiest idea of where it came off at.

The story I normally tell is that the person who lost an item finds me and then I try to find their item. For this story that isn’t how it went. See I got a call at work, it was from one of my colleagues, he had a question about my metal detecting skills. One of his friends had told him about his wife losing her ring. After a day with no contact, I spoke to my colleague about the situation. After a few texts from my colleague to his friend, I got a call from the friend, Brian. We talked and I got the details of where I would search first. So off to the park where the happy couple started their day. After showing up to the park, the evening had come to a close. I had a head lamp but searching in the dark was hard. There were pits and jumps everywhere, I didn’t find the ring there.

After that search, Brian and I talked about meeting up on Saturday. When I arrived in the morning to Brian and Kassidy’s house, I was taken on a tour of their property. Kassidy had been really busy and shown me everywhere the ring could have fallen off. Which was almost anywhere she had walked because the ring would fall off her finger without a forceful action. The tour ended and I asked her where she thought the ring could have fallen off. Her mind told her that it was most likely the chicken coop area. The nesting box was small, so I got out my pin pointer and searched the wood shavings. The next place I thought to look was the bag she had been pulling the shavings out of. At no point did I assume I would find the ring, because the couple had done all they could do to back track her movements. I used my pin pointer on the top of the shavings and then brought the bag out to a clear area to scan it with my metal detector. Swinging the coil around the bag I didn’t get any signals. However, when I tipped the bag over a very clear signal came out of my headphones. I checked the VDI number and saw a 12 on the screen. Thinking the ring was white gold I bent down to take a closer look. The ring was in the bag. I couldn’t believe it. I was thinking there was just a very slim chance this ring was somewhere on their property. But now I was standing over its hiding place wondering if I should surprise the couple. Walking with the bag in hand over to the front door, I thought I would ask for a demonstration from Kassidy on how she was grabbing the shavings out of the bag. Brian went and got Kassidy, and she gladly showed me what she did. The bags opening was facing up and the ring was down away from Kassidy, so I tipped the bag over to reveal the ring sitting inside the bag. Kassidy was in complete shock when she stuck her hand into the bag and retrieved the ring. I was also in shock that the ring was so well hidden inside the bag that it spent two weeks in there without being found. The ring back on Kassidy’s finger and the warm embrace of the couple hugging brought the happiness back to the couple and so concludes a Ring Finders happy ending.

Wedding band found in Devon, PA dog park

While walking home from playing with his dogs in a dog park, Quentin realized his wedding band was missing. After searching for the ring on his own, he began doing some web searches for someone who looks for rings. He found my profile on The Ringfinders and contacted me just two hours after losing the ring. I was able to arrive the next morning and began searching in the dog park which was covered in leaves and pine needles. After approx. 25min I found his ring under some pine needles. Quentin was over come with joy and immediately gave me a hug and called his wife with the good news. Custom Lost Ring Found in Winfield, Illinois

Custom Ring Found in Winfield, Illinois, after 1-1/2 years

Received a call telling me her daughter lost her custom ring a year and half ago.

Ring was made by her Grandmother for her 3 granddaughters and this was one of them, so

it had plenty of sentimental value.

Husband and Brother got detectors. and searched area with no success.

After a hour and a half I got lucky, the pictures say it all

Any wonder why I love this job!!

Turned out to be a quick pretty uneventful search.

Took about 10 minutes. Lovely couple and plenty of Hugs all around!!

Lost Wedding Ring in Lee’s Summit

Kayle realized she lost her ring on Sunday.  Trying to recreate all her actions since the last time she knew she had it on, she felt the most likely culprit was the backyard football game.  She enlisted friends and family to help look through the leaves and grass.  She even rented\purchased metal detectors to no avail.  On Friday she contacted me and within a couple of hours we were in the “football field” in question.  We did our best to re-enact the events, figured out most likely areas and then grid the boundaries of the search area.  10 minutes of swinging and we hit that unmistakable staccato tone of a surface target!  Another very happy customer!

Lost wedding ring in Roxborough found and returned!

I woke up to a phone call from Jaime after working my night shift today. He explained he was practicng football drills in a park with his 15 year old son yesterday and realized he had lost his rose gold wedding ring. He was recenlty married and was worried his wife was going to be really upset so He bought a metal detector from Amazon for around $100. He didn’t really know what he was doing with it though and asked if I could help him. When I got there he had cones already set up where they were running the drills and he said he was 99% sure he lost it in that area. He stayed to help me for a little bit and I can tell he was getting the hang of the detector. He asked me what sensitivity I was using. 😆 so he must’ve of googled some info. After almost 2 hours I found the ring…not where he thought he lost it. Probably about another 8-10’ away off the grid.
I am finding that when they say 99% sure it really means only about 20-25% are right about that.
He has the sweetest inscription I think I’ve seen yet “I found you” ❤️

John came across one of my ring finder posts. He saw that I did dive detecting recoveries and wanted to see if I would try and find this turbine heli that went down and he thought it possibly went in a pond as they had searched around it with no results. He even did some detecting in the water but he knew a tight grid was key and I have developed a proven technique. I used to fly giant scale rc so I understand how the depth perception can be very hard to impossible when something goes down. Well before I hit the water I expanded their original search area as walking is easier than diving in pitch black. Well unfortunately I came across it 1 day after the combine did. I was able to detect the area and recover all the parts though. The mystery has been solved after 4 months.
