Mother’s Ring Lost in the Dry Sand While Throwing a Football, Found and Returned Myrtle Beach SC

I received a message from Tina on Nov 30th, around 9:40 pm inquiring about help finding a lost ring. She text and also included a post she had made on a Myrtle Beach Lost and Found FB group. The text read “I am at Dunes Village till Sunday. I lost my mother’s ring 6 diamond in birthstone colors, had names also. I would love to find it. I was throwing a football in front of Dunes Village around 5 pm today. If you can help, I’m here until Sunday at 11am.” The post she made had a little more information and details, it read in part, “It was my Christmas present I had just gotten like two weeks ago from my boyfriend. It has 6 names also engraved in it.” I text her back and told her I could be there at about 10 in the morning and ask if she could meet me to show me the area. She agreed on the time and meeting up.

This morning, we met as planned and Tina showed me the area. The area consisted of dry sand, so I knew anything with any weight to it would quickly disappear in the sand. She had taken a good visual of where she was the day before. She lined me up straight out from a blue awning on the side of the resort and I turned on my Nox 800. I started south of the awning doing an east/west grid working my way north. Tina said her ring was silver, so I knew I was looking for a VDI (visual display indicator) number in the low to mid 20 range. I got a hit with a VDI of 24, which turned out to be a dime. The next signal I got was 22 bouncing back and forth to 23. The Nox was also showing that it was a shallow target. I was pretty sure I had Tina’s ring. I dug some sand out, checked the hole and had the target in the scoop. I gently shook out the scoop and saw the beautiful ring lying at the bottom of the scoop. I blew the sand off the ring, turned to Tina holding the ring up and said, “got it!” She stood there in disbelief and asked, “is it my ring?” I think she had come to believe the ring was gone forever. I love the looks I get when I hand somebody back their lost item.

Lost Gold Ring Found in Birmingham Michigan

Un-Gloved….

…It started out a busy day for Mrs. Teena, for she had lots of places to go and a ton of tasks to complete around the house and yard. It was now evening and while enjoying dinner she noticed her ring was missing. Mentally going over where she may have lost the ring, she concluded that the characters involved in the disappearance was classy car, brownie leaf bag and friends, bladed grass, steely sewer drain or lefty grip glove and his right-hand man. Approaching classy car it said “It wasn’t me! I carry around a lot of weight but none of it is gold so go check brownie leaf bags!”, and on doing so, no metal was detected with my MXT detector. Brownie bags got offended and said, “Why didn’t you check the bladed grass before me?”. Bladed grass was so thin we could see that the ring was not there but mentioned that steely sewer can see everything from below and noticed Mrs. Teena taking lefty grip glove and right-hand man on and off while filling up brownie leaf bags! But prior to my arrival Mrs. Teena checked both gloves and found nothing. I asked where grippy gloves were hiding and she said they were concealed out of sight by the house. I said that’s the clue we were waiting for! Lifting up the gloves I proceeded to scan them with my detector and got a metal signal and reading that indicated GOLD! Mrs. Teena and husband were awe struck and said again that she checked the gloves. So, reaching into the finger slot I was able to wiggle out Mrs. Teena’s very thin gold ring that lefty grip glove was hiding! Both she and husband were thrilled that this winning move to recover the ring fit like a glove!

Mulch Ado About Nothing……

…As David was hurrying to finish his outside tasks for the year his ring disappeared and with way too mulch on his agenda didn’t realize it until later that night. After looking without mulch luck, he called me to come by to metal detect. Fretting over the phone about not knowing where it was, I told his wife out in the yard that it wouldn’t be too mulch trouble to find it. Scanning the grounds I got no junk signals but nearing the end of the mulch beds I got a great signal and reading on the detector’s meter where tungsten rings usually appear. Probing down a bit with the pin pointer I got a metal target. Reaching down revealed David’s tungsten ring! I walked around to the front door and presented the ring to David’s wife and with mulch enthusiasm on the phone David said mulch obliged!

I received a call from Andy who stated that his wife’s wedding ring had been lost in the area of his driveway. We talked for a bit and exchanged a few texts and I arranged to go out the next morning.

Andy met me at his home and stated that he thought the ring was in or around a bush next to the driveway. He thought he saw the ring fall into that area but he and a neighbor who had a metal detector were unable to find it. I immediately went to work feeling pretty confident that the ring would be somewhere close but probably not in the bush if the neighbor did not find it. I soon figured out why the other person had a tough time as the ground was super loud with all sorts of sounds. I checked around the bush and then expanded my search but came up empty. I then commandeered a trash can and started to clean up the leaves along the side of the driveway but again…nothing. I then went back into the area of the bush and with my detector and pin pointer and started to pull out some small nails and a few other targets. I kept getting a hit at the base of the bush and but I could not locate the source. I kept going removing lot of leaves and some mulch…the target was there but ever elusive. All of a sudden – I found the ring!! It was located at the base of the bush which was coiled around like a spring and had gotten covered up, maybe from the previous searches.

I called Andy who came back to retrieve the ring. I told him it was in the bush where he thought but it was really tough find. Andy was very thankful and immediately took the ring inside for when his wife arrived home. As always it was a pleasure to meet another kind and generous client like Andy and return his wife’s wedding ring.

Ring lost in Poway found

Kathy contacted me saying that after her husband had finished eating, she decided to grab the tablecloth and shake it outside to remove any salt and crumbs that were on it. What she didn’t know was that her husband had taken his wedding ring off and had left it there on the table. Out the door everything went and after a good shake, she returned inside to find out that her husband’s wedding ring was missing. They searched the dining area and path to the backyard patio and yard, but, the ring wasn’t found. When I arrived, I got the story and evaluated the search area. Small yard with grass back to a vine covered fence. Beyond the fence dropped down a slope to a canyon bottom. Hopefully it didn’t get slung down there! Not to worry, first target was right in the range for a gold ring….26-7 on the Equinox 900. It wasn’t right on top of the ground, so, it must have been stepped on sometime during their search. It took a few minutes to dig it out of the dirt and grass, but, it was “Thankfully” a success! A pleasure to meet you Kathy and thank you for the reward.

Tungsten Carbide wedding ring recovered in Canterbury

I had a call from Keenan , the other evening, he explained how his Tungsten Carbide wedding ring had slipped off his finger into long grass whilst throwing a ball for his dog .

I met up with Keenan this morning and began the search , after about 10 minutes I had managed to recover Keenans precious wedding band , he was extremely happy to be able to put his ring back on his finger again , he told me this was the second time he had lost his wedding ring in 18 months of marriage, another successful reunion thanks to theringfinders.com .

Wedding Ring Found! A Cornfield Search – West Bend, WI.

November 12 marked a day of profound sadness for West Bend resident, Michael Schultz. His loose-fitting wedding ring came up missing after a day’s activities. He had done chores on their country horse farm, spent time sighting in hunting rifles in anticipation of the upcoming deer season and then made a trip to town. A recently harvested cornfield served as a 100-yard shooting range. Later, as he stood in line at a grocery store, Michael noticed, to his horror, his wedding ring was missing from his hand!

Michael had recently lost weight which resulted in his ring fitting loosely. He remembered thinking that very morning how it might be best to store the ring away until it could be resized. Now, he regretted not heeding the thought. He was truly grieving his loss and all the precious memories the ring held.

Michael’s wife, Nikki, reached out to me several days later. After speaking with her on the phone, I concluded the ring could be anywhere. The most likely place to search seemed to be the cornfield where Michael had taken his gloves off and on as he sighted in his rifles. But the area was similar in size to a football field. No matter, it would be a process of elimination.

I arrived early afternoon on November 22, 10 days after the ring went missing. The remains of corn stalks made the search challenging, hampering the swinging of my search coil. After 3-hours of searching, it was pitch black. I still had about another hour of searching left when a signal caught my attention. Beneath a muddy corn leaf, Michael’s gold and diamond ring appeared with the help of a flashlight!

Michael and his family were overwhelmed at the sight of the ring! Hugs and tears of joy ensued.

This was yet another amazing find in what was, by all accounts, a long-shot search. However, the ring’s hiding place was no match for modern technology and perseverance even in a vast cornfield in the black of night.

Found Extremely Important Keychain in the Leaves

I got a call earlier this week from a gentleman who had lost something extremely sentimental to him, and was desperately needing it to be found.

Early this year, his significant other had come down with a serious medical issue that took her life way too early. She had a real big heart for animals, and dogs….and of course, him! Her keychain had several dog charms attached to it, and he kept it with him at all times, no matter where he went. It was a part of her.

One day he had been out raking and had also ridden his bike down a leafy hill where he lost control and fell. Later, he discovered his pocket was empty and his heart sank. He searched through the rakings and where he had fallen, with no success. After some web searching, he found my listing and gave me a call. His voice shook with emotion and I instantly knew how important this search was. We made arrangements to meet when I didn’t have work.

Today, I met him at the house and he showed me the search areas. Luckily, in under 5 minutes, I got a signal, looked down and saw a Toyota symbol peeking out from under a leaf. It was her keychain with all charms intact! He gave me a huge hug! He said it was about the best thing that could happen to him.

I am so fortunate to be able to help in situations like this. I’m very glad it was a success!

Wedding Ring Recovered – Clayton!

I got a text from a woman whose husband had lost his wedding ring while doing yard work. Not an unusual story – it’s actually fairly common. He had lost it several weeks earlier and although they had searched (including a neighbor with a metal detector), they had not been able to locate the ring. His birthday was coming up in a few days and she wanted to surprise him with the ring that he now believed was gone. We made arrangements to meet at the house so she could show me where he thought he had lost it. The property was fairly large and she said that he had covered probably 2/3 of the property with his yard work, so I was anticipating a lengthy search. The husband thought it was in “the burn pile”, an area where they burned branches, sticks, and other yard waste. She thought it was in the pile of sticks yet to be burned (and I was dreading having to move all of the sticks to get down to the ground!). I figured I’d start my search in those two places and work outward. Starting with the burn pile, I first pulled up a burnt aluminum can, but my second target was the ring! Fortunately they had not done any burning since the ring was lost, so while it was sitting in burnt soil, the ring itself was just fine. She’s planning to surprise him with the ring at his upcoming birthday dinner.

Mom’s Wedding Ring Recovered – Greensboro!

I was contacted by a woman who had initially lost two rings, but had found one before calling me. While we were speaking about the when and where, she told me the backstory. Both her parents had passed and she had a ring from each. She decided to wear the two rings around her neck, but had the rings together on a hoop earring, which was in turn, looped onto a gold chain. She was spreading straw onto newly seeded grass in her back yard, and in rearranging the straw with a rake, she saw her father’s ring on the ground, which is when she realized that the hoop earring had opened and dropped the rings. As you might imagine, the hoop wasn’t strong enough to hold the rings securely and it had opened up. Finding the first ring was a good indicator about the location of the second, but she had searched extensively and hadn’t been able to locate it. After having her show me the areas where she’d been working, I started the search. After finding the usual yard trash (small pieces of aluminum, iron nails, screws, and a few pennies), I was able to locate her ring. In her own search, she had unknowingly stepped on it and pushed it down into the mud. Although it wasn’t visible, my detector wasn’t bothered by the mud and I was able to recover the ring. Given how important the rings were to her, it was great to see the joy in her eyes when the missing ring was recovered and returned!
