Sydney called me to ask for help locating her lost wedding ring in her yard. Apparently she had taken her little one outside and let him walk in the grass and as he toddled around Sydney would allow him to hold on to her hands to steady himself and a half hour later she realized that her wedding ring was no longer on her finger. She frantically searched her yard hoping to find it and later thought about using a metal detector and that led her to theringfinders.com and one of these stories. I was able to meet Sydney later on that day and she walked around the house showing me areas where her little on had walked. At one point we stopped to talk and as we were talking I glanced down and spotted Sydney’s lost ring just laying in the grass. I told Sydney, “Hey look…there is your ring!” The sun was reflecting just perfectly off of her lost ring and I was able to just bend down and pick it up and both her and her mom teared up and we just stood there stunned and super thankful! It is always a HUGE BLESSING to find a lost ring and to able to place it in it’s rightful owners hand!

Tantalum Wedding Band Lost During Camp Out in Centreville, Alabama… FOUND!

On Thursday (March 19, 2026) I received a text from Dom stating he had lost his tantalum wedding band during a birthday camp out at a friend’s house in Centreville, Alabama that prior Saturday.  Dom, his wife, Rebecca, and friends had spent hours looking for it both visually and with metal detectors.  Centreville is near Tuscaloosa, which is about 2.5 hours from me.  To potentially save a 5-hour drive, I gave Dom some tips to look on Friday.  Dom contacted me back Friday evening and said they still couldn’t find it and asked for my assistance.  I was free Saturday and more than happy to help, so I agreed to drive down from Huntsville and meet them at 11am.

I met up with Dom and Rebecca Saturday morning.  Dom began walking me through all the areas he was at – unpacking the car, walking path, fire pit, and camping areas.  I started where he unpacked/packed the car and worked my way out, stopping anywhere Dom remembered.  We made it out to the round metal fire pit and Dom said he was tending the fire.  I asked if they had moved the pit to search and he said no.  I said let’s move it in case the ring rolled underneath.  We moved it and it wasn’t directly under, but as soon as I stepped back, I caught a glimpse of a circle laying in some ash on the ground.  I glanced up at Dom and said, “I think we got it, brother!”  He said, “no way!”  Dom came over and had trouble spotting it at first, because rings will easily hide in the grass/vegetation and play tricks with our eyes.  But once he saw it, Dom was so happy and relieved.  He called over to Rebecca and the homeowner, Hailey (thanks for letting us search!) to let them know the good news.  Smiles and high fives all around!  We all enjoyed some friendly conversation, and I told them about some of my prior searches.

This was my first time finding a tantalum ring.  For my Ring Finder friends, it was a 63 on the Equinox 900.  As always, thank you, God, for another successful recovery and safe trip!  Until the next one, please take care and God bless!

LOST 24k WEDDING RING IN MORRISVILLE, NC…..FOUND!!!

Received a call that a young man had lost his 24k wedding ring while playing volleyball. They thought he lost it in the sand. I jumped in the truck and made the almost 2 hour drive.

I get there, get the story and begin my search. I searched the entire volleyball sand pit area 3-4 times and wasn’t coming up with the ring. One of the ladies had a 24k gold and it rang up a 91. I couldn’t believe it rang up that high until I found his ring.

I expanded my search area. After about an hour to hour and a half I went near the grass edge to the higher grass area in the direction of the water and I get a 94 signal! I look down and I can see a gold ring! Apprenatly the ring had bounced off the ball and went to his right about 10-15 feet!!

Another recovery in the books! This one was my 100th ring recovery since joining “The Ring Finders!”

*** I was metal detecting at Huntington State Beach when I was approached by Cindy. She had dropped her silver ring in the sand and wanted to know if I could help her find it.

The loss happened just minutes before she saw me on the beach. These are the most successful types of searches. I was able to find Cindy’s ring minutes after scanning the area where she marked a circle in the sand.

Family friend looses silver skull ring and we recover it!

It was St. Patrick’s Day and I had just finished smoking a corned beef for several hours and was finishing up cooking sides for our dinner.  The phone rang; a family friend we met through our community scouting pack.  Sarah explains that her son wore his fathers silver skull ring to baseball practice at the downtown Waterfront Park and at the end of practice it was missing.

I let her know that I would make the five minute drive to the park as soon as our dinner was finished. When I arrived, I was overwelled by the size of the grassy area of the outfield.  Sarah informed me that Odin had pitched and played first base, all areas that did not include grass.  He did however, walk to the warm up mound at the rear of the outfield and so we began our search there.  As the field lights when out our task got just that much harder, but it wouldn’t take long searching the grass between the dugout and the right field fence that we would “Make the Recovery!”

This would mark the very first recovery I performed in my home town of Martinez, CA and I was happy that I got to perform this service for a family that we know and enjoy.  Thank you Sarah, Odin, Amon, and Freya for your friendship.

*** Sarah and Joe were vacationing at Laguna Beach from New York. She lost a gold nail design bracelet during a walk on the sandy beach. It made their stay a little upsetting as this was Sarah’s favorite bracelet.

The day after the loss she contacted me from the airport while waiting to board their flight home. Sarah was able to send me a marked up screen shot of the area where she believed the loss occurred. I was able tell her what chances we have to find the item. On public beaches our chances of successful recoveries  can be compromised by other detectors or beach sifting machines. Most times I can eliminate an area, especially sandy beaches.

This was one of those miracle finds. Such a large target could have been easily found by the cleaning machines or a tourist picking up sea shells. The bracelet was exactly where she  marked up the Google map screen shot. Usually these type recoveries are never where they think they are. It doesn’t take long to eliminate a specific area. This time it was worth the drive and a 20 minute grid search.

I was able to mail the bracelet back to Sarah and Joe. Unfortunately, I was unable to get a photo of them smiling, so  I’m including a selfie of me.

Lost Men’s 24k Gold Ring recovered, Granger, Indiana

55 minutes to recovery, found in leaves near second brush pile search area. 24k gold band, worn for 30 years. Found with Nokta Legend 2 detector.

Lost wedding ring – Dauphin Island, AL

It was Wednesday evening and I was enjoying dinner with my BFF and detecting partner in Gulf Shores when I got a call from Justin who was vacationing at the beach from St Louis, MO. In spite of my phone displaying an unknown number, something told me to answer it. He explained that he had lost his wedding band over on Dauphin Island and sounded quite desperate to find it. Since I was visiting my friend for a week, I suggested I could probably look for it on Friday when I was planning to pass through on my way back home to Mobile. Hearing the disappointment in his voice, I decided my friend and I could go ahead and hop on the ferry first thing Thursday morning instead and try to help him out.

Justin anxiously met us upon our arrival at his rental and explained that he had thrown a football and felt the ring come off as he did so. They had been looking in the sand for it but, being platinum, it blended right in with the sand. He showed us where he had been standing and had even staked out an area where he believed the ring to be. By the time I was getting my machine set up, Cheryl had already completed her first pass of the area we were going to grid. I took about three steps toward the area to start when I heard Cheryl right behind me say, “I found it”….. pretty much right where I had been standing when I turned on my detector lol. There’s a good reason she is becoming known in the area by her well deserved nickname – “Beach Angel”. For the second time this week, I was thankful to have her with me as she seems to have an uncanny ability to go right to the exact area when we are doing a search. Gold wedding ring lost on gravel road in Weirsdale, Florida found with a metal detector.

Austin was doing some work tamping dirt around a post by his front gate and his gold wedding ring was hurting his finger, so he took it off and set it on top of his golf cart. He was thinking that as soon as he finished setting the post he would grab his ring off of the roof of his golf cart and drive up the driveway to his house for a drink. Well…he totally forgot about his ring and drove up the driveway and as soon as he got to the garage he remembered his ring and when he stopped and checked the roof of his gold cart…NO RING! The area where he was working was rough grass, dirt and gravel so he looked the area over really good and then remembered that his father in law had a cheap metal detector and even after using that for a couple of hours he still was not able to locate his gold wedding ring. Looking online he found my number and gave me a call and an hour later we met and Austin showed me exactly where he was parked and where he drove his golf cart. I set up my metal detector and began searching the rough grassy area thinking that surely his gold wedding ring must have slipped off while going around the other gate post. Nothing was located there so I headed up the driveway sweeping along the right side of the gravel driveway 100 yards to the carport and then I headed back down the opposite side. There were tons of signals…pieces of aluminum cans, bullet casings and other signals that sounded similar to what a gold wedding ring would sound like. I was swinging my coil so it went a foot or so over the edge of the gravel road as there were allot of leaves along the edge and as I was finishing up the far side I got a blip of a good signal out on the road and I rechecked the target and BOOM! There was Austin’s gold wedding ring…just laying in the open on the gravel road for all to see. Austin could not believe it and we both just stood there and shook our heads in unbelief!
