Metal detector for hire northern Illinois Tag | The Ring Finders

Tungsten ring, Missing for 12 years, found in Popular Grove Il

  • from Rockford (Illinois, United States)

About a year ago I was out metal detecting the site of a 1870s school house that is now just ag land. While I was out there a gentleman named Jim stopped and we started talking about the local history. He goes on to tell me that 12 years or more ago while having a party and bonfire one of thier guests lost his wedding band in the pasture. He asked if I’d be willing to come look for it. I said, “Sure!” and gave him my card and told him to call me whenever was a good time. So, out of the blue I received a call from Jim on Wednesday 10-28. He reminded me of our conversation and asked if I was still willing to come take a look for the missing ring. I told him I’d be glad to come take a look. Since it was getting dark already we made plans to meet the following day after I got off of work. When I arrived Jim took us back to the pasture where it was thought to be lost. We started a grid pattern 90° to each other. Jen was going north and south and I was going east and west. It took about 20 or 25 minutes but after lots of melted aluminum I got a beautiful solid 72-73 double tapping signal on the DĒUS II. I dug a plug and chased down the signal with my pinpointer and BOOM! There it was!! We thought that the ring was made out of gold, so it being made of tungsten carbide threw me off for a second.  But after a quick phone call we confirmed it was definitely the right ring!!!

Success!!

Another smile for the book!!
