*** Virginia and Her family had gone to the beach to watch the Pacific Air Show. Her husband took his ring off putting it in his pocket. Later that day after returning to their RV camping spot. He discovered his White Gold Wedding ring was not in his pocket.

He was sure that the ring could have come out of his pocket when he pulled his cellphone from the same pocket. They went back to the same beach for two days but had no success finding the ring. After 5 days and just before they were to return to  Arizona, Virginia called me. She was able to give me verbal directions as to where they had been when the ring may have fallen out of her husband’s pocket.

I did a hour and a half grid search that evening in the dark to eliminate a large area. That evening I was able to talk to her husband to get his ideas of the area they had been. I sent him a google earth screen shot to show him where I had searched. The next morning with good sunlight which helps to keep a better grid pattern. His directions were a bit clearer. I did find his ring which was only 20 ft. just outside where I had stopped searching the night before.

A very nice ring and very sentimental to the couple from  Arizona. They were able to return home having a great vacation with a happy ending.

*** Colleen was visiting Newport Beach from Arizona. She and her daughter spent the day near the pier where they enjoyed playing with the grandkids in the sand. After a few hours on the beach, Colleen discovered that her heirloom white gold with diamonds was no longer on her finger.

She had no idea when or where the ring slipped off her finger. She had been all over the beach in the 3 hours they had been on the beach. Her daughter had heard about the Ringfinders, so I was contacted while they were still at the location..

There was quite a few people on the beach, so I had to work around their beach blankets. I knew if the ring wasn’t found, I could stay till the beach was clear of beach goers. Coming back in the morning was not an option as the beach crew will run the sifting machines early in the morning.

The ring was recovered after an hour of grid searching the area. It actually was more the 200 ft. from their beach chairs. It was in shallow water as the tide was coming in.. Colleen was very happy and grateful to have her most sentimental heirloom diamond wedding ring back where it belongs.

Wedding Ring Found in snow at CSU in Ft. Collins, Colorado

  • from Fort Collins (Colorado, United States)

I received a call from Michael saying that he had lost his gold wedding ring the day before while walking through the Colorado State University Campus in Ft. Collins, Colorado and asked if I could help. We agreed to meet the following day at 10:00 am. When I arrived a few minutes early Michael was already on site. We said hello and began to discuss the circumstances surrounding the lost ring. The weather was very cold at about 20 degrees with a foot of snow and ice on the ground on the day the ring was lost. Michael said he walks with a spring in his step and swings his arms. He stated that he felt the ring slip to the tip of his finger on the forward swing but did not get his hand closed on the back swing in time to save the ring. He had marked the spot in the snow with his boot. On the CSU student blog Michael found someone who had a metal detector that came to help with no luck. He also had a few volunteers come out with strainers to sift through the snow with no success.

After a few minutes of talking I began by turning on my detector and tuning out all the surrounding electrical interference, most of which was coming from transformers about 25 feet to the South. We hit a few signals that turned out to be trash. Not surprising since we were searching along a sidewalk on a busy street. Then we hit a target with a strong repeatable signal. My detector visual display was reading a steady 17, a good gold number, and telling me that the target was not buried but was on the surface. Michael had the pin pointer so I asked him to begin to search a 5 inch round area. The pin pointer was sounding off but we could not see the ring so I told Michael to move some of the snow, ice and leaves. He did that and the pin pointer stopped beeping. I said “well you have moved the target and that’s a good sign that it’s on top”. I relocated the target with my detector and after checking again with the pin pointer Michael exclaimed ” There it is. there it is. I thought I would never see it again”. He jumped to his feet, stepped forward and hugged me and we high 5 ‘d each other smiling like a couple of kids. He took out his phone, took a picture and sent it to his wife. We walked to my truck to stow my gear. He thanked me many times telling me how much the ring meant to him. We parted ways both sure we had a great day.

Karen called after just losing her wedding ring at the old “Muscle Beach” next to the Santa Monica pier. She was going to go on the rings, so she took her ring off so as not to lose it, but in the process, dropped it in the sand, and could not find it. I left immediately to get there for the search.

When I got there Karen was waiting for me, and took me to the area of the loss. She explained what had happened, and showed me where she was standing when she dropped it. We asked the people in the area if they would allow me to work in the area to find the ring, and they were very gracious in allowing the search. It took about 30 seconds for the recovery, because the ring was right where she thought it was, but because it was a small thin ring it moved around when they were searching for it. Needless to say she was very happy to have it back.

I was contacted by Edwin who had lost his wedding ring at the beach 2 days prior. He had been visiting from Fresno, and had already gone back home but really needed closure on his lost ring, so I asked him to give me all of the necessary directions to guide me back to the exact area he had been. A tough call, but he was able to give me pretty good information for the search.

I followed his exact guideline when I got to the beach, and began my search. Fortunately there were not any people in the area the loss occurred, but it had been 2 days! I started searching, covering a much larger area just to make up for the time element and remembrance issues. I wanted to be sure I covered every possibility. I worked the area for about 30 minutes, finding many different items, but no ring until I got a very good signal, dug, and found his ring. I immediately sent him a picture of the ring telling him of the successful search. When I got home I went directly to the Post Office, and put Edwin’s ring in the mail for him, and then sent him the tracking information. Another happy return!

I got a call from a young man who had lost his phone. He was on a small bridge over a section of a river near his house, when while taking pictures, he dropped the phone in the water. I asked how long it had been since the loss, and he told me a week. My heart dropped when he told me the amount of time that had gone by, but he assured me that the phone should still be there, so I drove out to meet him.

When I got there we walked out to the spot where the loss occurred, and he explained what happened. He also told me that he had done his own searches during that week to no avail. I looked into the water, and the deepest area was no more than 4 feet deep with a sandy bottom, and I was having a hard time figuring out why he wasn’t able to find it; it should have just been laying there! Well I got ready, and stepped into the water, and as soon as my foot hit bottom I understood why it disappeared, there was 8 inches of silt that looked like sand. The bottom was real clean of metal trash, and then under the bridge I received a real good signal, put my scoop in, and up came a beer can. I searched again, and in the same area another good signal, this time it was his phone. It was still there after a week, and still working; amazing. Made his day!

Bekah called distraught because she had lost something very sentimental to her while at a family picnic. She and her family had gone to the Hanson Dam Recreation Area for a get together, and while walking around, she noticed the necklace she was wearing was not around her neck any longer. The necklace and pendant had been in her family for generations, and it made her feel extremely bad to know she had lost it. We arranged to meet, and I was on my way.

When I arrived Bekah and I found each other, and she took me out to the area of the loss. The area wasn’t real huge, but the grass area was littered with metal trash which slowed the search process considerably. I searched stopping every few inches to check for the missing necklace, and Bekah followed along with high hopes. We covered all of the area, so I asked if she had been anywhere else, and she showed me another strip of grass she had been in, and I began to search there with her right beside me on the adjacent pavement. My process again was real slow checking every few inches, when all of a sudden I heard a cry of emotion from Bekah. It happened that as she was following me ever so slowly, her foot bumped something on the pavement, and when she looked down, she saw the necklace. She was certain it was lost in the grass, but like I always tell people I help; it may not be where you expect it to be. Also the day she lost it, she was frantic in her search, and she overlooked it though it was in plain sight. Sometimes you just need to slow down a bit, and my slow search made that happen for her. She was thrilled to have it back.

LOST SHEETS OF GOLD in CHAPEL HILL, NC….. FOUND!!!!

  • from Fayetteville (North Carolina, United States)

This will be one of my best but craziest recoveries EVER! I still can’t believe I was actually able to find it for the daughter of the deceased man that buried it in their backyard during his later stages of Dementia. Yes, he buried the sheets of GOLD that were rolled up and put together with paperclips. I know I will get comments like it is gold leaf. but it is 100% NOT GOLD LEAF; it is heavy and in sheets as stated. He used this gold to make chips.

The original story was that her father had made a small GOLD BAR out of the gold, but when I found it, I knew I had found what he had buried and what she was hoping I would find. It took me about an hour and a half to get the signal of this lost treasure! The backyard was full of leaves, rocks, trees and it wasn’t an easy target to find, luckily there wasn’t much other metal items in the natural area behind the house. That alone made it easier to locate the GOLD! The estimated total GOLD weight of what I think is 24K gold is about 15g to 20g.

Neeta called and asked for help finding her husband’s wedding ring. He had been playing at the beach with their daughter when he noticed it gone. It had happened earlier that day, so the timing was right; always, the sooner the better. I got down there as soon as I could.

We began the search, and she put me close, because it did not take very long to find it. Neeta was very pleased to be able to have her husband’s ring back so quickly, and I was happy for a great outcome that day.
