This adventure is my 100th recovery for The Ring Finders directory! I am honoured to be entrusted to have help Laura to recover her beautiful heirloom ring from her late Nona.
Here’s Laura’s words;
I was up in Huntsville for the weekend and we had decided to head into town to grab some lunch near the water before we headed home for the day. We chose to sit on the outdoor patio that is over the water. When waiting for our food I began pulling at my rings and putting them back on my fingers (I always do out of nervous habit). Of course my inherited ring slipped off my finger and right through the gaps in the wood patio we were sitting on. When shining my flashlight through to gage if I was able to see the ring at all, all I saw was water underneath. I was told mistakes happen and things like this happen – and was also told there was no way at getting under the patio whatsoever. I was absolutely devastated and was convinced I’d lost it in this water forever.
The next day a friend of mine (my saviour literally) had the brilliant idea to post on Facebook just to see if anyone had suggestions – and this is when we met the amazing Alison. I got in touch with her and learned about the ring finders and the incredible things she had done for people in situations similar to mine. A few days later she made her way down to Hunstville with her hookah dive gear and metal detector and she found my ring!!!!! I am still in disbelief. I am forever grateful and so appreciative. Alison is really and truly an angel on earth!
What lovely worlds!
Here is the wonderful video of this sentimental ring recovery;
Thank you Laura for your very kind words and your generous donation! Also to your employer who will be matching the donation to the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation! I LOVE MY HOBBY!
Stephen was up visited a close friend for a weekend of fun, fishing and tubing at Whitestone Lake, Dunchurch, Parry Sound District of The Muskoka Lakes, Ontario.
The guys came back from tubing, sat in some dock chairs to relax. Stephen had taken off his very special communion cross and Greek anchor chain given to him by his Grandparents and put it on the dock chair. He forgot about it, picked up his tee shirt and watched the cross and chain fall through the dock boards into the water below.
They tried to locate the cross and chain in the murky waters below but had no luck. Stephen called upon my services to help the next day.
I had a three hour drive, we set up the DIVE BLU3 Nemo hookah system which has a lithium battery and 10’ hose and with an underwater pin pointer we were all set!
After 35 minutes of clearing all the metal objects I finally recovered Stephen’s cross and chain!
Check out the underwater video and the surprise recovery to Stephen!
His sentimental cross and chain meant the world to him and he was grateful to revive it back with TheRingFinders help!
Thank you Stephen for your donation to the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation!
John was walking his dog in a school yard park in Maple, Ontario yesterday. He stopped to brush his dog and noticed his new gold engagement 10k gold band from his Fiancé Christina went flying off.
He purchased a metal detector and had no luck finding his ring on his own.
After speaking with Shawn from Carry-all Canada Shawn suggested he contact Alison from the website TheRingFindersDotCom.
John reached out late this afternoon and I flew over on Hwy 407 to meet him within 45 minutes!
Proceeded to the area he felt he lost his ring and as I am a struck heavy grid searcher, I always start anywhere from 10’ to 30’ further back!
Sure enough and just under 1/2 a minute and…. BAM!!! A solid double tone on my new Nokta Makro “Legend” metal detector!!
Check out the video;
One very happy young man!! We immediately sent his Fiancé Christina a photo of him and his ring back on his finger where it belongs!
Thank you John for your very kind donation to the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation!!
Raising charity donations using my passion for metal & scuba dive detecting for this wonderful charity to help Patients with the financial burden while fighting this terrible disease! Tax receipts given!
Blessings on your engagement John & Christina ♥️🌹♥️
I received a text from a manager of a recreation complex that he was cleaning the snow off his car knocked his hand on something. Next thing he noticed his 2 month old cobalt wedding ring was missing!
I new right away that it was a colleague at my work place! I messaged him back if he was a COB employee 😂 after that exchanged he called me and we had a bit of a laugh over it!
I met him bright and early the next day. Unfortunately, the area still had snow and ice but the worse was that the area was rebar encased concrete parking pad/walking area. I had my work cut out for me. Gave it 4 1/2 hours, I lowered my sensitivity to 2 but only had my 15” coil with me. I called it quits and decided to go back the following day on my lunch hours.
Well, 4 minutes into my 2nd attempt with my small coil and decided to check the snow piles / iced areas that were still present. I had a solid 9/10!! As I kicked the snow away, out popped the iced up shinny cobalt wedding band!!! WHAHOOOO!!
Now to surprise Antony!!!
As I was heading back into the building to surprise Antony… he walked out to check on the status. I pretended that an emergency call came in for a street light pole down. Then I pulled out his beautiful shinny cobalt wedding band!! His reaction was priceless!! Antony was so grateful to receive his 2 month old wedding band back. He was dreading telling his telling his Wife!
Check out my YouTube video for this recovery;
Thank you Antony for your donation to the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation as I don’t take the reward for finding the lost item! Instead, I have the clients pay-it-forward with a donation! He receives a tax receipt.
I will be riding a snowmobile in honour of his dear Friend Rachel who passed away from breast cancer far too young!
BREAST CANCER DISCRIMINATES NO ONE!! Early diagnosis saves lives!
I received a text from a fellow Ring Finder Stephane (Brighten, ON) on Christmas Eve for a lost wedding band in the snow up in Owen Sound which was a close Friends Nephew’s wedding band.
I received the particulars and was on the phone in minutes with Brandon. He and his Wife Lara where visiting Family in Owen Sound. They all went to a local park to go sledding with Lara’s Brothers Children. One of the young girls wanted to go throw snowballs. So Brandon moved over to the corner of the baseball diamond outfield and they were practicing throwing at two old pieces of wood from a tree.
I advised I would head up first thing Christmas morning as I had no plans. Brandon sent an aerial photo marked up with the areas he parked, sledded, played and where the snowball throwing took place. My gut feeling was to start at the 4th area of snowball throwing took place. He too felt that it was the likely area his wedding band fell off.
Now this isn’t just any old normal wedding band! It’s a custom created “MOKUME GANE” (mow-koo-may gone-ay) by Anne Wolf in Sam Diego, USA! (www.annevillestudio.com) ‘Mokume Gane’ is an ancient Japanese metalworking technique developed in Japan by MASTER Swordsmiths. The words ‘Mokume Gane’ translates to ‘woodgrain metal’. Each ring is crafted with its own unique individual pattern. Anne’s creations are a labour intensive process (twist, hammer, and file the billet) to create it’s own individual pattern which the form solder, carefully hand-filed, then sanding the ring to perfection. The metals used in Brandon’s created Mokume Gane WYS etched wedding band was 14k palladium white gold, 18k yellow gold along with sterling silver! What a fascinating beautifully created wedding band!
I arrived 9:17am Christmas morning and I was surprised the rain overnight melted most of the snow. I proceeded down to the area of snowball throwing. Started my grid search and 1 minuted and 20 seconds later I pulled his beautiful wedding band just under the grass. It was not visible to the eye as I definitely have hawk eyes wherever I go!
Here’s the video of the wonderful Christmas morning special wedding ring recovery and surprise!
I proceeded to deliver Brandon’s 4 month old wedding band in person to the Family’s location 10 minutes away! They said is was a wonderful Christmas gift!
Thank you so very much Brandon and Lara for the generous donation to the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation in which they’ve received a tax receipt! It’s part of my ‘pay-it-forward’ campaign as I don’t accept the reward of finding the lost item! I use my passion for metal/scuba dive detecting to raise charity donations for the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation! I’m in my 13th year volunteering alongside 80+ pink Sista’s!! My pink Family is amazing! Thank you
Manu lost her custom engagement / wedding band back in August 2021.
She had a girlfriend over and while she was sitting on her couch she was fiddling with her ring. She saw the ring fall through in between the leather cushions.
She and many others Family member try to find her ring but with no luck.
She recently called me back since August communication and made arrangements for me to swing by after work.
I brought along my Stanley Tools endoscope which has a high definition camera and light on the end of the scope.
I took about 5 minutes to locate her beautiful custom designed ring under and around a lower fabric piece in the middle cushion!
Check out the video on this ring recovery!!
She was so very happy that I was able to recover and return her beautiful ring!
Thank you Manu for your very generous donation to the Kelly Shires Breast cancer Foundation. She receives an income tax receipt for her donation!
Yolanda from Hamilton was on a day out swimming with Friends at a very lovely private swimming pond in Hockley Valley, Mono in the gorgeous Dufferin County area!
Yolanda was recently given a white/yellow gold ring with a center sapphire surrounded by diamonds custom made from her Brother just 3 weeks prior. There is a huge sentimental reason she was extremely upset at accidentally losing this beautiful ring!
I was advised it was a sandy bottom over 10’ depth. It was certainly not a sandy bottom as the bottom was covered in a white dry type weed vegetation which was 2’ to 4’ high. There was incredible fish in the pond as my Minelab Excalibur2 underwater metal detector always seems to draw in the fish to investigate me ☺️ I love It! I was also not able to use my underwater circular gridding tool as it seemed the bottom underneath was concrete.
After 20 minutes, I circled back to ask Yolanda to walk around the pond for a different perspective to give me a closer location to where the ring came off. I headed back out and within 5 minutes, I luckily heard that wonderful tone on the Excalibur2! BINGO! Then the SURPRISE!!
Check out the video of this ring recovery;
It’s a shame that this individual did not make a reasonable donation the the KSBCF charity. Lots of excises. I forgive you. Someone else stepped up to the plate and made-it-right! As his Sister is a breast cancer survivor. I was at a loss for words of his incredible gesture.
My “pay-It-forward” campaign Is my reward. Clients are to donate between 10-20% of the value of the item or more if they choose. They in-turn receive a tax receipt! Forgiven and forgotten! ONTO THE NEXT!
Paul and his Wife were completing yard work this past weekend at their home in Guelph, Ontario.
Later in the day after most of the work was completed, Paul got into his vehicle and noticed his wedding band was not on his ring finger.
I headed out with my Minelab Equinox800 multi frequency metal detected. Started to grid search near the fence line. Back tracked the back yard. Then into the side yard we’re 8+ bags of leaves had been packed in.
Four to six feet away I had a solid double tone of 18 on the Nox and knew immediately I located the ring.
I called Paul and his wife over as and his Wife of 36 years if she would like to put his wedding band back on his fingers!! Paul had recently lost weight and his wedding band was extremely loose!!
Check out the video of this 18k gold wedding recovery and return;
They were very happy to get this sentimental wedding band back to were it belongs!!
Paul will be making a donation to the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation as part of my “pay-it-forward” program. In turn, Paul will receive and tax receipt!
Thank you Paul for entrusting me with helping you recover and return your lost wedding band!!
Angela was out completing farm duties on a beautiful day in a lovely area of Caledon in the quaint village of Belfountain.
Angela and her good Friend Sarah are both horse owners and I’ve know them for a while now. They were loading the horses and the donkeys during the into a trailer throughout the day to head off to their winter digs. Eddie the donkey was not wanting any part of getting on the trailer and had to go for a walk-a-bout with Angela to relax.
Later that day, Angela realized one of her her diamond earrings was missing. Sarah immediately called me for help as she knew I was a metal detectorista and a proud member of the global organization called TheRingFindersDotCom. I had helped another one of Sarah’s Friends successfully recover and return two stainless steel throwing knives lost on his property!
I proceeded immediately after work to Angela’s home and discussed her path throughout the day on her farm. I was in for the very difficult task because any lost small earring or small linked chain is extremely hard to find with a metal detector because there is so little material. It is absolutely a needle in the haystack! I did however call upon a Minelab metal Detexperts and fellow RingFinders Laurie and Eric for advise on my metal detector settings! Park 2 mode and 40 hertz! BINGO! I was able to detect the other earring in Angela’s possession!!! I had hope!
First evening I attempted to check around to south end of the small barn and then looked inside were some equipment was. The evening turned dss asap and cold. My headlamp was helpful but Angela invited me in for a hot drink and dinner! We called it a night! She really felt there was no luck to find it.
On the second day in the late afternoon I proceeded to check in the chicken coop area then the other half of the small barn. I then proceeded continuing my grid search pattern into the laneway where they were loading of the horses and donkeys took place.
Within 20 minutes I had a strong tone and I was completely shocked and amazed that I spotted under a half inch of dirt the beautiful diamond earring was there. I truly was in disbelief as I knew this task was a tremendous challenge.
Angela since returned and was awaiting her husband Ariel to come home. I didn’t let on to Angel that I found the earring and was now looking for the earring screw back!
I was trying to think of ways on how to surprise her and her husband! I then was invited in to warm up as well the offer of another lovely dinner. I then asked Angela to do a starting video for the RingFinders blog for good luck and finally this was the golden opportunity to recorder the surprise!!
NAILED IT!! And check out my YouTube video!!
I have a “Pay-it-forward” program for recovering and returning clients item(s)! I usually have a reasonable call out fee which I waived. The reward for finding the clients item instead of me receiving a reward, is my request for the client to make an immediate donation to the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation!! The client then receives a tax receipt for the donation! We ALL WIN!!
I was absolutely HUMBLED with Angela’s incredible OVER-THE-TOP donation to the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation!! Angela is my top donator in the 13 years of my participation and charity fundraising for the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation!!! I was completely humbled and felt my services were truly appreciated!! This is by far my best fundraising year for this incredible foundation!!
I can’t thank you enough Angel and Arial for your incredible donation!!! It was truly my extreme pleasure to help great Friends out!!
So I got a call for a lost wedding ring. The gentleman was weeding his raised bed gardens in the fall to prepare them for replanting. At the end of the day, after discovering the missing ring he figured that on one of the many trips to throw the handfuls of weeds into the woods, his wedding ring joined them on the flight. He proceeded to search the many weed piles on the forest floor, with no luck. He even borrowed a metal detector, which made lots of noise and gave him exercise but no wedding ring. He then found me online and called and we arranged a time to meet/search. I arrived, got the whole story and saw the search areas. I then laid out and started my search, with the highest likely areas of loss first. After searching all the gardens, weed throw areas, paths to and from, and possible areas of other outdoor chores and coming up empty, it was time to expand the search area. After a 1/2 hr and 8ft outside te original search area, I heard the tone that I was looking for, and after moving some grass aside there was a lovely circle of gold looking back at me. I pulled a surprise reveal by asking him to see his wife’s matching ring to remind me what I was looking for, and when he showed it to me I said “You’re right it does look exactly like yours”, and placed his ring beside her ring in my hand. A confused look came over him followed by a wave of realization and his eyes welled up and as he started thanking me. That reaction was all the thanks I needed.
