14K Gold Mother’s Ring Lost in the Surf, Found and Returned Myrtle Beach SC

Two hours from home after a week long vacation I get a phone call from Don H. asking if I could help find his wife Diane’s Mothers ring that she lost around 8pm the night before. The connection wasn’t very good so I told him I’d call him back around 2pm and would be there between 4 and 5pm. During our broken conversation I thought he gave me the name of a resort that it was in North Myrtle Beach, however when we talked at 2 he said the resort was in Myrtle Beach. I got all the details from Don and called Matt Fry (TRF Myrtle Beach) not sure whether he was still out of town or not. During Don’s and my conversation he told me that his wife lost her ring between 9 and 9:20pm not at 8 like he originally said so I needed to leave home within about 20 minutes to catch the tide. When I called Matt he didn’t answer so I assumed he was still out of town and left. I was within 15 minutes of arriving at the resort when Matt called back, saying he was in town but to go ahead and take it.

I arrived in the parking lot and Don showed up shortly afterwards to show me the exact area. Don also explained that they were down from Minnesota for the Myrtle Beach annual cheerleading competition with one of their daughters and they all needed to be at the convention center. I worked it out with Don that I’d surprise Diane and that when I found her ring, I’d text him with a picture and then deliver it the convention center.  When I walked out on the beach it was packed with tourist and needless to say I had an audience watching me search. About 4 gridlines and calf deep in the water I got a strong 46-47 on my AT Pro along with a few other junk tones. Luckily I got the ring in the first scoop, dumped it out on the sand and immediately saw the gold. I texted Don with a picture and he immediately replied with a 100% it’s hers!! I’m not sure what Don told Diane to get her out front away from her cheerleaders but she didn’t look happy when I introduced myself. I think he told her I bumped their car in the parking lot. But I told Diane that Don had told me that she had lost her Mothers ring and if she could describe it that it would help me know what I was looking for. As she finished with her description, I held up her ring and said “Does it look something like this?” Her expression was priceless, there were a few tears of joy and the hugs were strong and sincere. She had to make a quick exit to get back to the girls but she was one happy lady!!! It just doesn’t get any better than this.

Don and Diane, thank you for trusting in me to help find your lost treasure and thank you for the very generous reward. Have a safe trip home!!!

14K White Gold Engagement Ring Lost in the Surf, Found and Returned Myrtle Beach SC

I received an e-mail shortly before 10pm on Thursday, July 21st from Zanita W. requesting help finding an Engagement Ring that had slipped off her finger in the water about 4 hours earlier. Zanita was here with her family on vacation from Indiana and was leaving on Saturday. I noticed in the e-mail that she also included Matt Fry (TRF Myrtle Beach). I contacted Zanita and got a few more details that included the name and location of the resort they were staying at. This resort was in Matt’s area so I called him to make sure he saw the e-mail. When he answered his phone I told him the situation but unfortunately he was stuck in Atlanta on his 3rd delayed flight out west and wasn’t available. I’m still on vacation and 800 miles away so I tried contacting Jim Brouwer, a friend who was filling in for me while I was gone. He didn’t answer so I sent him both a text and an e-mail with all the details knowing that he was probably asleep and was going to wake up very early to catch the low tide somewhere. I’m asleep and hear my text alert go off at 1:45am from Jim saying he’s on it. At 3:39am I get another text alert from Jim saying “I found it”. I called Jim and asked him to send me a picture so I could forward it to Zanita saying it was found. That morning I called Zanita around 8:30am, waking her up, with the good news. She couldn’t have been happier. I gave her Jim’s number and they arranged to meet later that morning.

2 Rings Lost in the Wet Sand, Found and Returned Sunset Beach NC

I got a call from Brett A. a little before 3pm on Thursday, July 21st saying he lost 2 rings in the wet sand and asked if I could help. Unfortunately I was 800 miles away on vacation but I had pre-arranged with a good friend, Jim Brouwer to respond in my absence. I got Brett’s number and location and called Jim, who immediately responded and was on scene within an hour. Jim called me back in about an hour and a half saying that Brett put him right on the spot and within 3 gridlines Jim had the first ring and a couple of swipes later had the second ring. He said Brett made the comment that he was glad he was wearing sunglasses and then Brett immediately called his wife with the good news.

Great job Jim B. (pictured on the right). Thanks for filling in for me and putting a smile on someone’s face!!!

I was contacted by Jessica regarding the loss of her wedding ring in the backyard of her home in La Porte, Texas. Jessica explained that her young daughter had been in possession of her wedding rings, and it was believed she dropped them in the grass while playing in the backyard.

Lost Diamond Wedding Ring Found by Emerald Isle Metal Detecting

Megan contacted me Tuesday afternoon in regards to her wedding ring she lost in the ocean surf Saturday afternoon.  She had stated that she happened to be searching the internet and found an add I placed on Craigslist for jewelry recovery.  A storm was in the area that afternoon/evening so we agreed to begin the search at dawn.  I began the search at dawn and was first unsucessful because of the strong waves.  I drove an hour back to my home and returned a couple of hours later to resume the search.  While covering the beach for hours, I walked around a group of 3 sand castles as I didn’t want to disturb someone’s creations.  I later came back to the sand castles and very carefully worked my detector around the 3 structures and got the tone I had been searching to find for hours.  The first carefully scooped out sand pile surrendered Megan’s ring!

“After helping my toddler with boogie boarding on the beach I noticed that my wedding ring was no longer on my finger. We searched the beach behind our vacation rental for three days with no luck. I was contacted today by a man and his fiancée.  They were traveling near a road when the ring fell off of her hand and landed in the grass somewhere near the road.  They felt they had a pretty good idea of where the ring had ended up and after about 30 minutes of searching, the ring was located about 20ft outside of their original search zone.

Alyssa was enjoying a day at the beach with her family, when she noticed that the ring she had put in her pocket was missing. She was pretty sure it happen out in the sand where her kids were playing after she had pulled her phone out of the same pocket. Alyssa’s sister told her about The Ring Finders and Alyssa contacted me. I hot footed it down there (actually just joined the rest of the maddening crowd inching our way to the beach!) and circled for another 1/2 hour before getting lucky on a parking space. After discussing the particulars on ring size, metal, search area, etc, I started a pass through the sand. My first target was a nice gold ring sound, but, turned out to be a partial pull tab. (not a big surprise in this area). The second target was the same sound and  I.D. number (12-09 on my E-trac), but, was her ring. A happy Alyssa and another satisfying return. Got an e-mail from Sean stating he lost his wedding ring three days ago while swimming in waist deep water.  Gregg Larabel and I set out to Holland later that evening when the swimming crowd thins out to search for the ring.

Thanks to Sean’s accurate instructions, it took me only about thirty minutes to find his ring, and while we were looking for it Gregg found a big stainless steel ring -no ID inside the ring.  Sean was not at the beach with us, so today he and I met halfway between our homes to deliver the ring to him.  Sean’s whole family came, his wife and three little boys, and everybody was happy that Dad’s ring was back on his finger.

Diamond Stud Earring Lost at Hermosa Beach, CA…Found and Returned with Elation.

I received an email from Carli last night about 10:15 asking if I could help her find her lost diamond stud earring she lost at the beach in the sand. I have been on enough searches for stud earrings to know that they are one of the most difficult items to find, in fact most detectors won’t even pick them up, and I made sure I let her know this upfront. I asked her about the spot of the loss, and she said it was lost on the towel line, which the county mechanically cleans on this beach daily, so I knew that this search was important. Carli was thinking early the next morning, when I told her I would meet her at the beach in 30 minutes, because of the type of search and the fact that there were too many factors that could make finding such a small item harder by the hour. We agreed to meet last night, and I was on my way.

I arrived just after 11:00, and she took me out to the spot. I had told Carli that the closer she could get me to the area would increase the likelihood of a recovery. She told me the earring came off her right ear when she was removing a piece of clothing so she had focused her search in that area earlier in the day. I told her though that I was going to search a wider area, because I have experienced that jewelry does weird things when it comes off. I found a few items such as foil, and a bobby pin, that Carli identified as hers. About 11:30, I was in an area that was to the left of her original position by about 10 feet when I received a good signal. I dug with my plastic trowel, and delicately shook the sand from the curved surface, when something sparkled. Carli’s husband said in the darkness with the flashlights that the sparkle caught his eye as well even as he was standing a few feet away. I reached down and then held up the earring Carli had lost. She expressed a considerable amount of excitement, saying “it was like a needle in a haystack”, which it truly was. The earrings I later found out had been given to her for a birthday present, what more can be said; the story continues. The attached picture says it all. Glad to be a maker of smiles.

Knee deep surf and 2 scoops down was a class ring! It was recovered using my Excalibur II. After 20 minutes of Internet searching and 2 phone calls, the ring was set to be returned. Devon lost the ring in the high tide surf throwing seaweed at friends. 2 weeks later, I found the ring and happened to work 20 miles from Valley Forge Military Academy where Devon is working a summer camp and also graduated. The ring was returned! Devon said that he thought he would never see it again!
