Grandfather’s Wedding Band Lost in the Sand, Found and Returned North Myrtle Beach SC

  • from North Myrtle Beach (South Carolina, United States)

I got a call from Sarah, with a Seattle phone number, asking if I was The Ring Finder for N. Myrtle Beach and if I could help find the silver ring she had lost. I got a few details and told her I was on my way. She said she was on 30th St and she’d send me a pin drop. I verified she was in North Myrtle beach and not Myrtle beach. Both cities have the same street numbers and to visitors it can get confusing. I grabbed my Equinox 800 and headed out, hoping I’d get her location before I got too far. North Myrtle has two 30th Avenues, one North and one South so I was driving slowly, waiting for her location. Her text came through, but the location wouldn’t come up, so I called her. I ask if she was in Cherry Grove or NMB. She said Cherry Grove and I told her I’d be there in 10 minutes. When I got there and walked out on the beach, she was standing there waiting along with 2 of her friends.

We talked for a few minutes, and she said they were on spring break from Vermont and on their way out of town. I told her “Let’s find it” and she showed me an area that was maybe 20’X5′. Turned on the Nox and started a grid search. My third line and about a minute later, I got a booming signal with a VDI of 30-32, higher than what I expected but I dug a scoop anyway. I missed it the first time but saw a glimmer of shine sticking up out of the sand. I reached down, picked up a beautiful heavy ring and held it up for her to see, asking “is this your ring.” She came running over, looked at it and said, “that’s my ring!” I asked for the story behind the ring, and she told me it belonged to her grandfather, who had passed away before she was born. She also said her father had given it to her. I asked if she had called her dad yet and she said yes. So, I took a quick picture of her holding it and sent it to her so she could forward it to you dad. Big smile and a hug with many thank Yous and Sarah and her friends were on their way.

Sarah – Thank you for trusting me and The Ring Finders to help find your lost treasure. Have a safe trip back to school.

Why rent a metal detector when you can hire a metal detecting specialist, this will save you lots of time and ensure success in the end. This story is about a young man by the name of Andrew who lost his wedding band while doing yard work. I wonder how many people have done this in the past and have given up the search, thinking they will never find it. This search was interesting. It wasn’t too labour-intensive two locations and it was found in one of the likely locations in the front yard under a bush that he lifted up and shook a bit.

The thing was it was out of sight and it required me getting down under the bush with my handheld pin pointer to do the search as I couldn’t reach it with the metal detector. As I was on the ground, searching the leaves and dirt I spotted it under some roots and leaves in a position where I would never have found it with my metal detector. I love this job, it’s like being a detective. You have to think out-of-the-box and go to places that you’re pretty sure you won’t find it, and then you do. It’s a Murphy’s Law kind of thing, it’s going to be in one of the toughest places to find and that’s where you have to check.

Andrews anniversary was coming up in April so it was an honour to be able to find it and reconnect him with his beautiful ring.

Ring lost in La Mesa found.

  • from La Jolla (California, United States)

Joe was cleaning out a clogged drain on his backyard deck, and when he slung the clog downhill onto a construction debris pile, his family heirloom family crest ring was launched with it. He searched in the mud and debris in vain and contemplated buying a metal detector to help him find it. Instead, he found TheRingFinders.com online and my contact info. We made arrangements later that afternoon to meet and conduct a search. Not a huge area, but, there was a moderate amount of junk in the construction pile, along with some flora and broken up concrete on a steep muddy slope. After gridding that area with two different detectors and two different coils, the ring was still missing. Being a fairly heavy gold ring, maybe it slung farther than the area I was searching, so, I asked if we could check the neighbor’s yard as it was possible the ring made it that far. In looking over the fence, there wasn’t any place for the ring to bury, so, it should just be a visual surface find. There was a walkway down the side of the neighbor’s yard next to Joe’s fence, so, we slowly headed down and checked the ground and plants as we went. With Joe leading the way, we made it about 3/4 of the way down when Joe spotted the ring right on top of the ground in the dirt close to the fence. Joe was very happy to get it back, and as I learned, it was his grandfather’s ring that had been one of the few items he had taken with him out of Hungary right before the USSR took over the country back in the mid 1950’s, and then eventually got passed down to Joe. The ring story continues……..

Megan was splashing her brother while sitting in the surf in Sea Isle City, NJ when the unexpected happened; her rose gold promise ring flew off her finger into the ocean with one of the splashes. Her mother reached out to me, and I explained that we had a good chance of finding it. I met the family on the beach and started working under the low-tide line parallel to the surf, working my way up the slope. I dug a few targets before getting a “promising” signal that was 5-6 inches deep. I dug one final scoop, and the ring was returned to Megan!

Kelowna Lost Wedding Ring Found and Returned

  • from Kelowna (British Columbia, Canada)

Aliya called me that her husband Nathaniel had lost a Wedding Ring the previous evening, I responded right away. The Family had been having a photo shoot on Dilworth Mountain. During the photo shoot Nathaniel did not wear his wedding ring because it did not fit properly, so he borrowed his fathers ring ( who was not with them) for the shoot, unfortunately his fathers ring was also too loose, and wouldn’t you know it, he lost it. The family all searched the suspected loss location with no success, as luck would have it during their search, someone stepped on the ring and pushed it into the ground. The first sweep of my detector gave a signal, and after scraping the dirt we had fathers ring recovered. Everyone one was happy, and it saved an embarrassing conversation with father.

LOST WEDDING BAND IN LAFAYETTE,LOUISIANA – FOUND

  • from Lafayette (Louisiana, United States)
Contact:

We received a call from August late one afternoon. He had lost his gold wedding band, in a flower bed, when adding mulch. He searched but did not find it. When he gave his location, we realized it was just a 10 minute drive. Carrie and I loaded the detectors in the truck and went to the site. Carrie, as always, grilled the client while I prepped the equipment. She thought it logical for the ring to fall off when he washed his hands over the flower bed. She claimed that search area and I started on the other end of the bed. We used pin pointers and crawled through the bed. Carrie found the ring under a flower plant in 10 minutes. After some pictures we left for supper.

Thanks, August, for the generous reward.
