When Lauren reached out to me she was extremely worried because her platinum wedding band had vanished while raking leaves. The ring belonged to her grandmother and represented a treasured family heirloom that carried emotional meaning spanning an entire century. She removed her rings early in the morning because she did not want to damage them during yard work. She placed them carefully inside her pocket with her phone and zipped it securely before beginning the cleanup.
At some point during the work she decided to put her rings back on her hand for safety. When she reached into her pocket she discovered the wedding band missing despite the zipper being fully closed. She searched through leaves and checked her steps repeatedly but the ring remained hidden beneath the yard debris. After realizing the search required professional help she contacted Ring Finders South Jersey for assistance locating the cherished heirloom.
After arriving I spoke with her about the exact areas she worked earlier in the day. Gathering those details helped me create a clear plan for searching the yard thoroughly with my metal detector. I began scanning near the leaf piles first because those areas often hide important items without showing any visible signs. The first section produced no tones matching the metal profile of platinum.
I moved to the next location just several feet away and swept slowly back and forth across the ground. Shortly after that I picked up a clean signal coming from beneath a thin layer of leaves near the side of her yard. I pushed the leaves aside carefully and immediately saw the platinum ring resting quietly underneath them. The moment felt incredible because I knew how much the heirloom meant to her entire family.
Lauren was overjoyed when she saw the ring back safely in her hands again. She could not believe how quickly everything changed from anxiety to complete relief and gratitude. Watching her smile while placing the hundred year old ring back on her finger was incredibly rewarding. Recoveries like this remind me why I love helping people find their lost valuables throughout South Jersey.
Every sentimental item carries a story that deserves to continue, and I am grateful to help make that possible.

Man’s 14K Yellow Gold Wedding Band Lost at the Water’s Edge, Found and Returned Ocean Isle Beach, NC

  • from North Myrtle Beach (South Carolina, United States)

This adventure started on Sunday, Nov 30th around 11:30 am when I received a text saying, “Hi Jim. We lost a men’s gold wedding band at Ocean Isle Beach on Wednesday. Any chance it is findable? It was in the surf as the tide was going out.” I texted her back and told her I’d call her shortly. A short time later I called the number attached to the text and spoke to Susan. She told me that the ring was lost at approximately 3 pm on Wednesday, Nov 26th. A check of the tide tables for the 26th showed low tide was at 5:24 pm, meaning the ring was lost about 2 ½ hours before low tide. Susan also said that there was a couple of gentlemen metal detecting who had looked for the ring without success. Looking at the tide tables for Sunday, low tide was at 9:15 pm. I told Susan I’d be out there around 7 pm that evening. My next concern was finding a place to park, since Susan and her group had already left to go home. But I’d figure that out when I got there.

It was dark when I got there at 6:50 pm. I pulled in the driveway of the house and took a picture of it with the name, “Sea Wolf,” and sent it to Susan to let her know I was there. As I’m trying to figure out where to park, the cleaning crew was leaving. I explained what I was doing and was granted permission to park in the driveway. That problem solved. Made my way out on the beach and went through Susan’s text messages again to make sure I was in the right area. Up to this point, I was assuming the lost ring belonged to her husband. In her text she said that her son, Logan was the one who lost his yellow gold wedding ring 4 to 5 houses down from the house they were renting. So my plan was to go to the far side of the 6th house and work a grid back to the house they rented. I had just enough moon light to see my grid lines from dragging my sand scoop in the sand to keep me on track. I was working from the mid-tide line down to ankle/shin deep in the ocean. I passed the 5th, 4th, and 3rd houses with no luck, other than 2 pennies, 2 pull tabs and a tungsten ring that had been buried for quite a while. It was close to 9 pm and reaching dead low tide. As I was coming out of the water behind the 2nd house, I got a solid 16/17 on the Minelab Equinox 800 VDI (visual display indicator) and I knew I had Logan’s gold ring. After 4 days of sitting in the surf under the moving water and shifting sand, it took me a couple of scoops to get the ring out. Bingo. I sent a picture of the ring to Susan who sent it to Logan and he identified it. I got the ring in the mail on Monday and sent it on its way back home to Virginia with an estimated delivery date of today, Friday.

Susan – Thank you for contacting me to help find Logan’s ring.

Logan – So happy I could help find your ring and get it back where it belongs.

Jim

Just Bring It!….

Exclaimed Mckenzie as she and a friend’s play fighting inside found itself outside on the front lawn. Things got more interesting as the skirmish turned into a wrestle fest landing Mckenzie pinned to the ground. Now with darkness upon them they called a timeout, brushed themselves off and went back into the house where Mckenzie noticed her earring missing. The next day I started a grid search and within a few minutes the earring stud revealed itself! A winning move, I feel like a champ! She said!… even tho I lost the smackdown, the only pinning I’m interested in now is pinning the earring back in my ear!

Lost White Gold Journey Pendant w/ Diamonds Found in Madison Heights Michigan

A Journey Under the Deck…

..was not what Kristina had planned for her journey pendant when it snapped off her chain as her dog jumped up on her. She looked around and found her cross pendant that was with it and thought her journey pendant wasn’t too far. The pendant was sentimental and a gift from her mom. The straight design of it has been a talisman through life in her past to help overcome any obstacle including where the pendant may be in the present time. I had just enough space under the deck to scan with my metal detector. I got a faint signal and was able to reach thru the leaves and debris. Feeling the shape of the pendant at my fingertips, I slowly drew my arm back from under the deck. Recovering the pendant brought tears to her eyes. Although the journey had an unexpected twist, staying hopeful was her mindset and served as a reminder that any future journeys may not be as straight as expected.

Lost Tungsten Ring w/ Gold Accent Found in Oak Park Michigan

  • from Detroit (Michigan, United States)

Scoop The Goop….

Was the last chore of the day for Preston at his new house. Climbing the ladder, he reached the leaves on the roof and gutters full of goop and began flinging it to the ground. His wife assisted by raking it out to the street. With darkness encroaching, he finally completed the task. Back on the ground he took off his gloves and went into the house for the night. Immediately upon sitting down he noticed his ring missing. Rushing out in the dark to search brought no luck. Feeling totally drained and down the gutter he wondered where it was…in the street? in a gutter?..and having changed gloves often, what side of the house was the ring on? The next morning, I started my search and checked the piles of leaves in the street with my MXT metal detector. No signals came from that, so I grid searched towards the house on the side Preston remembered having the ring on last. Again, nothing signaled thru on the detector, so I searched a bit further out in the area where Preston had laid the ladder down to retract it. Suddenly a huge signal rang in my headphones. Reaching down thru the neighbor’s leaves revealed Preston’s handsome hammered Tungsten ring! I waved him over and when he saw it, I saw all the tension drain away from the situation. Totally pleased he asked what made me check in the neighbor’s yard? I answered, I just go with the flow!

He Was There for the BOOS…

and the trick or treats but when Halloween was all said and done, Mark’s ring was missing. Pulling a graveyard shift into dead of the night he didn’t want to turn into a pumpkin, so he stopped searching. Did the ring come off while passing out candy? Did it fall into someone’s candy bag? Or did it fall off earlier that day doing yard chores? He was spellbound by the eerie disappearance and got a toy type metal detector hoping that would work but perhaps brought about bats in the belfry trying to use it after no luck with it. Playing the devil’s advocate, I said there’s more than a ghost of a chance I’ll find the ring if it’s there in your yard. I started a grid search after finding out the area Mark was during the day. A few sweeps of the metal detector coil off in a grass area revealed his ring! I held it up and said here’s your boo-tiful ring! He said thank you and that he was scared stiff that the ring would not be found. I ghoulishly smiled and said I had a scary good time!

Lost Rose Gold Engagement Ring w/ Moss Agate Stone Found in Davison Michigan

  • from Detroit (Michigan, United States)

Courtney’s Nightmares…..

About her lost engagement ring have been haunting her for a while. Ever since last September at her sister’s Labor Day gathering reoccurring thoughts day and night overwhelm her as to its whereabouts. When will these dark thoughts stop troubling her? How long will its location be cloaked in mystery? Or will the spiritual power of the rose gold and agate stone help return it and reunite her with the new beginnings in her life? The night was dark as a velvet carpet and as she travelled to her sister’s place for Halloween, she began to have premonitions of finding her ring. Arriving to find a bonfire and trick or treaters lifted her spirits. Around the witching hour, as she sat next to the dwindling bonfire she drifted off into sleep. In a dream a man appeared with a machine that howled as he passed it along the ground. He reached down and exhumed an object and walked towards her. Placing it in her hand she was startled awake by her sister shouting BOO! trick or treat… while nudging her asking if she was ok. Courtney said yes and excitedly exclaimed that she found her ring. Where? How? the sister asked. It was here, next to the fire, I fell asleep and a man with a metal detector handed it to me! I didn’t see anyone out here the sister said and added, ok enough of the spine-tingling stories can’t you just creep things real??  Courtney said, believe whitcha want but the ring can finally rest in peace on my finger where it belongs, how’s that for a scarytale ending!
