Gabi called me to ask if I was available to help her find some lost rings. She and her fiancee had spent an evening enjoying some of the Orlando Florida attractions and as they were walking back to their car they had a disagreement and Gabi’s engagement ring and her fiancee’s ring ended up lost in the thick saint Augustine grass! They spent the rest of the evening and into the dark searching for their rings..and even went back the next day! Gabi decided to check into renting a metal detector and that is when she came across theringfinders.com website and after reading a couple of my stories she gave me a call and we were able to meet up that afternoon. I was hoping Gabi could bring her fiancee as well because it is most always best to get two people’s opinions on the situation instead of just one. After meeting up and driving to the location I began my search along a long stretch of grass just to the side of a busy road and soon realized that there were allot of targets that sounded similar to a lady’s gold ring. I asked Gabi what her ring was made of and she said she thought it was either white gold or silver, she wasn’t real sure. So I decided to investigate every shallow signal reading in the mid to high range and I used my pin pointer allot day! It took a good hour and a half to thoroughly cover the whole area and I could see that Gabi was beginning to lose hope of me ever finding their lost rings and then…BOOM! I got a sweet, shallow, small silver reading and at first glance I could only see some sort of tape or paper and after a closer look I saw a flash of a diamond. I reached down and picked up Gabi’s lost engagement ring and held it up for her to see and I asked, “Is this your ring?” Gabi was overcome with emotion and knelt beside me and gave me a long hug and all I could say was, “Thank you God for helping me find this young lady’s ring!!” Ten minutes later I got another solid, shallow high tone and there was Gabi’s fiancee’s ring down in the thick grass. This time I let Gabi use my pin pointer to do a final location and what a thrill to see the sheer joy and relief and happiness in her face!

Two weeks ago my good friend Mr. Jack lost a pocket knife and single key while playing with our neighbors young dog. Mr. Jack and his dear wife are winter volunteers here at our retirement center and willingly work daily to help out on the grounds maintenance and cleaning. Mr. Jack has years of experience mowing lawns, trimming trees and taking care of plants in general. And he has a habit of always carrying two pocket knives in his pockets and his trailer key and when he lost those two items he was a bit concerned. 
Greg called me about a ring that his girl friend had accidentally dropped in a lake and mentioned it was only in a few feet of water. I explained how I normally retrieve lost rings and he assured me he knew exactly where it fell off of the dock and into the water. He said his girl friend had used a mask and tried to locate the ring but was unsuccessful. It had been lost almost a month prior to our conversation and I assured Greg that the ring was most likely in the same spot where it originally fell.

Ron was just finishing up eating his sandwich when he bit into a piece of gristle. As he turned to throw it out across the back of his truck and into the bushes he felt his ring go flying off along with the piece of gristle. He even heard his ring ping off the edge of the truck bed but he was not able to actually see which direction it went. Ron figured the ring must have gone quite a distance because of the force he used when he threw the small piece of gristle. When I arrived I asked Ron to show me where the “fling of the ring” took place and from there I was able to get a good idea as to what sort of search I was in for. Looking for a lost article, and especially a lost ring, gets me excited and is a real challenge that I thoroughly enjoy. And I could tell that Ron was very anxious for me to find his lost ring so I set about searching out into the neighbors yard and worked my way towards where the truck had been parked. There were various types of shrubs and ornamental bushes and a low thick form of ground cover. A perfect place for a ring to hide. About 20 minutes into the search I got a smooth steady tone that pinpointed easily with a depth of two inches in the ivy ground cover. Ron’s lost ring was found and it was a beauty! Dr. Greg emailed me on Saturday afternoon to see if I was available to help him find his lost wedding ring in his back yard. So we made arrangements to meet the next day to conduct a thorough search. Upon arriving I was told that the family had searched for three days with a low end metal detector. Gregg and his wife have been married for 25 years and a couple of their children were letting me know that I really needed to find their father’s lost ring, so that they, (the parents) could continue to be married again. Cute, hey? Apparently one of the boys had gotten a small drone stuck in one of the large oak trees and Greg was using a soccer ball to try and knock the drone free of the branches. He was throwing the ball straight up with force, using a two handed under throw and after a couple of throws he suddenly felt his ring go flying. Thankfully I had a test ring with a small piece of brightly colored ribbon attached to it and I asked Greg to do a couple of test throws. This gave us a good indication of the direction I needed to begin my search. It wasn’t long until I got a great shallow signal in the thick grass and sure enough there was Greg’s lost wedding ring. (I was using my Whites DFX metal detector in the Prospecting Mode, as there was allot of electrical interference and the usual Coin and Jewelry Mode was way to noisy.) It was a real pleasure to help Greg and his family and I hope he is able to get the ring resized so as not to loose it again!
