METAL DETECTING  FOR A LOST RING IN NEWPORT BEACH, CA. .. FOUND AND RETURNED .. Call Stan the Metal Detector Man ..  949-500-2136

*** I had taken the morning to go to a scuba dive show in Long Beach, CA. Just as I was about to get into my car for the drive home, I received a desperate call from Mary. She had dropped her gold and diamond wedding ring set in the dry sand. She was afraid to try to dig through the sand as she thought she might make them impossible to find.

I was about 25 miles away but normally it is only a couple miles from my home. I could be there within an hour and it could be a easy recovery if she could stay at the site. Of course she agreed, it was her original wedding and engagement rings, very sentimental and irreplaceable.

Her friend offered a parking place at a residence near the beach front, another bonus as the beach was full of people enjoying the nice sunny day. After showing up near the time I gave her we were successful finding her rings. I might point out the the people next to Mary had noticed her predicament and were able to give her my contact information. I had found a ring for them last year.  Another perfect recovery because the people on the beach gave her my contact information, she called right away and I was available to get to the location in a timely manner with the proper tools to find those rings.

If you lost something of value, I may be able to help you… Call ASAP Anytime.. Stan the Metal Detector Man .. 949-500-2136   .. I WILL TRY ANYWHERE

Successful Lost Ring in Car Recovery ..  Santa Ana, CA.  By Ringfinders Member .. Call Stan the Metal Detector Man .. 949-500-2136

*** Julie called me asking if I could help her find her Cartier Love ring that was lost in her car last December, ( 3 months ago ).. Many times people think the ring may have been lost in the car. This time Julie was sure she dropped the ring while sitting in the driver’s seat.

We set up a date to meet at her home in Santa Ana, CA. The car  was a Honda Van type vehicle.  I took my endoscope that has 4 different size camera heads and is able to record the search process. It’s a tedious search as it requires keeping a constant visual attention to the monitor screen. The recording video also helps review the search.

All these tools take a while to master, just as the metal detectors have a learning curve. It took an hour to locate the gold ring which had somehow ended up under the center console between the driver and passenger seats. When using a endoscope it is always a surprise when the ring just appears.

This was only part of the recovery. Even though I could see the ring in the endoscope monitor, I had no access to the underside of the console.Using several retrieving tools I carry, it still took almost 2 hours to coach the ring from underneath the console. Even though I had located the ring, I’m sure an auto mechanic would have charged plenty to remove the console to get the ring. Long story short we were able to find Julie’s Cartier Love Ring ( actually her wedding ring) .. You can the smile in her eyes even though she had to were a medical mask..

*** Daniel called asking for help to find a white gold wedding band that he lost in the sand 4 days ago. The area of the loss was a very populated part of Newport Beach, CA. I gave him a short explanation of our chances to recover the ring as that beach is heavily hunted area by recreational metal detectors and it is also sifted by the city Beach King machine.

He understood and I said I could meet him at the location. This was the last day he would be able to show me the general location. He showed me a 20’x20’ area. I setup my metal detector and decided to start at the center. A half dozens swings of my detector and my first signal was Daniel’s white gold wedding ring that had been hiding in the sand at the towel line.

Both Daniel and his wife were very happy and amazed that his ring was found so fast after so many days. I know all the possibilities that the ring could have easily been found or picked up by the cleaning machines. This is just another case to stay positive and give it try..

*** A past client of mine contacted me, saying he saw a lost ring post on Craigslist. I sent the person a message offering help to look for his ring. The next day I received a call from Ivan, who believed his ring was lost in the sand at Baby Beach, Dana Point, CA.

A whole day had pasted and it was already going to be dark before I could meet Ivan at the location. I met Ivan 45 minutes we talked on the phone. He showed me a 50ft x 50ft area of dry sand that he believed he lost the ring. After grid searching that part of the beach without finding his ring, I asked him if he had been anywhere else that day. He said, they had eaten lunch on the lawn in the shade of a nearby tree. He was sure that the ring was not there because he thought it would have been easily spotted in the thin grass if it were lost in that spot.

I had to convince him it would be worth spending another few minutes to do a quick scan with my metal detector. As I began my grid search, I realized I would need my pinpointer to check the many signals I was getting. The darkness made it difficult to check signals. Just as I was getting ready to walk over to my car to get the pinpointer, I got a signal and I had enough light to see a round edge of a gold ring. BOOM! .. Ivan’s ring.  He was double surprised because he had already decided the ring could not be in that location. It was a good night and another very special recovery..

*** Aimee and Kyle contacted me asking for help to find Aimee’s diamond wedding ring set lost in the sand. The loss occurred while they were at a remote beach in the San Onofre State Park. She had put her rings on a towel forgetting they were there until she had picked up the towel to shake the sand off.

They said, they would be able to wait at the location till I got there. We could have set up a search for another day but it would require another trip for them. Also, it would be very stressful for Aimee to wait even one night believing her rings were never going to be found.

The beach closes at sunset and I arrived with  enough time to do a proper search. We met in the parking lot on the cliff above the beach. A quarter mile walk down the trail to the beach led us to the place they had spent the day. A half hour after starting the grid search with no sign of the rings, everyone was getting nervous.

Then Kyle pointed out the small area where the sand had a slight slope. A couple swings of my detector and we had the rings in the sand scoop. Sometimes we find them fast if we start in the right area and other times it could be a nail biter. If the rings are there the metal detector will find them. Another happy couple and they were very grateful for the help I was able to give them.

*** The night before Mother’s Day I received a call from lady named Nga, she had been to Huntington City Beach with her 3 boys. She put her two rings on her towel while applying sun screen.  One was her platinum diamond wedding ring and the other a very special rose gold with a red stone ring ( a Mother’s Day gift from her sons four years before). She wears both rings daily .

The rest of the story is common occurrence, she picked up the towel later in the day and the rings disappeared into the sand. She did realized that the rings were lost before leaving the beach, but that turned into a panic search for several hours by everyone around them.

Returning home Nga did a google search and contacted me just before 8pm. I heard enough of the story and where she lost the rings to advise her that I should leave right away as this beach has a nighttime cleanup crew that runs beach sifting machines especially on the most used part of the beach.

I arrived at the location with about an hour before they close the beach. That was enough time to grid search a 40ft x 40ft area. Half way through the grid search I got two signals on my Deus 2 metal detector. Scooped both ring at the same time. Turned off my machine, took a few photos of the rings and called Nga with the good news.  I know that she needed to know that the rings were safe and she could sleep well that night. ( I did send a photo of the rings )

We met this Morning, which is Mother’s Day 2022. She was with her husband and three boys and all were excited and very grateful to have Mom’s rings back for Mother’s Day..

*** Brian and his wife, Myriam had been staying a hotel at Laguna Beach. Every year they travel here from Las Vegas to enjoy the beach. This day had been disrupted by the loss of Marian’s white gold diamond wedding ring set. They had been on the beach when they decided to move their small windbreaker tent. Actually they moved it to three different locations 40’ to 50’from the first spot.

The rings had been taken off and put into a small pocket, of the windbreaker. They spent the whole afternoon trying to find the rings with their hands. The hotel management gave them my contact information. Brian called about 8:30 pm asking if I could search for the rings. He figured I would come in the morning. It sounded like this could be a easy search and it is only 7 or 8 miles drive. I told him we could do the search now, there is no need for his wife to worry about the rings any longer than she has to.

He sent me the hotel address and said, I would meet him on the beach in a half hour. Parking was not a problem at this time of night. Brian was on the beach to show me the three places the rings could be. I started at the first location with no luck, then the second location, not one metal signal from my detector. I could see a worried look on Brian’s face as I was nearing the last few feet of searchable sand. Then, BOOM!! the first ring gave me a signal I knew had to be a ring. I held it up for Brian to see. Next two swings of the detector the second ring showed up in the scoop.

We shared the joy of the recovery, but I didn’t get to see his wife when she got the good news. Brian wanted to take the rings up to their hotel room for the surprise reveal of rings. Wedding rings are so special and personal, it has been my pleasure to help Brian and Myriam and many others recover the special symbols of love and marriage.

*** Julian and her husband had been vacationing in Hermosa Beach, CA. The fourth day of their stay at a hotel on the beachfront, they were throwing a football in ankle deep water in the surf when Julian’s wedding ring slipped off her finger. The ring disappeared immediately into the wet sand. The three days of there vacation were not good.

The morning that they were leaving to drive back to their home in Arizona, Julian called me asking for help. She didn’t really feel it was possible to recover a ring that had been washing around in the surf for three days. I told her if they could stay long enough for me to get a general location, we have a good chance to find the ring.

I met them an hour later as they were loading their vehicle with their luggage. They walked me out to the ocean , directly in front of the hotel, pointing out the location. It was low tide which was an advantage as I was thinking I might have to wait a half a day for the best low tide. I didn’t want to get their hopes up, but I had a positive feeling that I could find the ring, even if I had to try for a couple days.

I went back to my car to get my equipment as they left me to proceed with the search. After about five 40 feet grid passes. I only received one good signal through my headphones. That was all I needed. Julian’s beautiful white gold diamond wedding ring in my scoop. Three days after being through five or six high tides with a strong surf the ring was approximately 6” deep but still shallow enough to give me a decent signal in my water proof metal detector.

I called them with the good news, thinking they were on the road but close enough that they could pick up the ring. ( I could mail it ) After recovering rings for awhile, I understand that the owners never feel comfortable until the ring is back on their finger. I keep hearing how much they missed not having the ring where it had been for so many years.

*** Anthony called for help after finding me online. His family and friends were at Emerald Bay in the city of Laguna Beach, CA. His wife Lindsey had taken off her gold and diamond wedding ring setting them on her lap while applying sunscreen on her son. Forgetting the rings were on her lap, she got up to do something and the rings disappeared into the sand.

She didn’t realize that the rings were missing until about  a half hour after the loss. The location was not very large but after several of the family members tried their luck at finding the rings, Anthony saw this was not working. He wasn’t quite sure, but he figured there should be some type of metal detecting service. A google search pulled up my contact information.

Emerald Bay is a private beach that is only 5 miles from where I live. I’ve done several recoveries at that beach. They do have to set up permission for me to enter through the security gate which Anthony took care of. I cruised in and directly to the beach where about a dozen people were waiting to see how this works.

Briefly, Lindsey explained to me what had happened, pointing to a small area of sand. She said the two rings were white gold with diamonds. That is all I needed, setting up my new XP Deus 2 metal detector then started a grid search. A few swings Boom! The bi g engagement ring in the scoop.  Two feet away Bam! the wedding ring.. Boom, Bam ! Both rings and many happy people especially Lindsey who had felt guilty for making such a mistake. I assured her that, this happens so often, they won’t believe how many calls we get with this same scenario. I don’t know how many times people give up, because they didn’t know they could find a member of TheRingFinders near them.

We like the easy searches, there are times when we search for hours before finding the item. If the item is there I have the experience, the equipment and the time to find your valuable. The fact is there are so many variables as to how the loss occurred we can’t tell how long it will take. We have to give credit to the internet and the new technology for these successful searches. Years ago we only had the yellow pages and word of mouth. Now we google search, use our cellphones and  use our GPS, etc.

*** Nico’s mother called ma asking about how the metal detecting service works. Most people don’t even know that this type service exists. I asked a few questions about what was lost and generally where the loss occurred. It seemed her son Nico had been at one of the Malibu, CA. Beaches.

He dropped a small gold pendant in the sand and couldn’t find it. The pendant was a gift from his grandmother in Italy. He was very upset because it was such a special gift that he wears daily. I explained to his mother how the service works, giving he assurance that I could find a small gold item in the sand with my equipment. It was very important that he have the location secure till I arrived. The recovery should be quick if he is there to guide me to a small area.

Everything worked out well, with Nico meeting me at the top of the cliff side beach. We walked down the steep trail to a beautiful secluded beach. I set up my high frequency metal detector to detect a very small gold item. It was a whisper of a signal but enough to alert me to dig with my sand scoop .. YEP! a glimmer of yellow gold in the scoop that was what we were looking for.

Happy, Overjoyed and Relieved that the pendant wasn’t lost forever. Nico and his friends celebrating with high fives.
