*** Demi was at Seal Beach, CA. when she gave her engagement ring to her fiancé to hold while she went swimming. When she returned to their place on the beach, her fiancé had lost the diamond engagement ring somewhere in the sand.

She was given my referral by another  person on the beach. When I received the call I asked her what beach is she at. Her answer was Seal Beach. Another coincidence, I was also at Seal Beach only a block away from Demi and her fiancé.

I did have to go to my vehicle to grab my detector before meeting them 15 minutes later. As we walked to their set up on the beach they told me it could be any where around their beach blanket or chairs.

I started at the chairs with a few quick swings In  few minutes I had her precious diamond engagement ring in my scoop. Timing is important, this beach has a very efficient cleanup crew. The  ring may have not survived the sifting machine the next morning. ***Kelly had dropped her small gold with diamond earring in the sand while enjoying a family beach party at Newport Beach, CA. This was one of a set of earrings that she had for more than fifteen years. A gift from a special friend and very sentimental to Kelly.

After everybody in their group attempted to find the very small earring. Kelly was given my information by someone who found TheRingFinders directory online.

They were only a couple miles from my home. Parking was provided for me in front of their garage. In the early afternoon it can take an hour to  find parking. I had not questioned them very much on the phone. I just knew it was a small gold diamond earring. I chose to take my XP Deus metal detector with the high frequency coil and a very fine mesh sand scoop. 
I was shown the small 10’x10’ area. This could be a tough one because Kelly told me it was an open earring. Also it could have been buried out of detection range by the others that had moved a lot of sand searching by hand.

It was a few minutes before I received a good signal that could be small gold. YES! Success with Kelly’s earring was in my scoop. Everybody was elated and there were several of the other people on the beach cheered on.

Basically they all just accepted that a metal detector can find earrings in the sand. They don’t know that not all metal detectors can find these small pieces of gold, especially if the earring is open. I know that it wasn’t an easy find. It makes me happy to know I have the best equipment and I have spent hours learning how to be efficient with my state of the art detectors.

*** Playful pet dog jumped up on owner braking her neckless while sitting on grass. Brenda and her neighbor were walking their dogs in the neighborhood. They stopped at local school front grass lawn to rest. That is where the her friend’s dog accidentally broke her necklace. The very petite gold and diamond heart pendant went flying in the thick deep grass. After several hours they gave up on finding the small sentimental pendant.

Brenda knew how important this pendant was to her friend, so she took it on herself to called me for help. We met the next morning and Brenda told me what had happened giving me a description of the small gold item. I decided to use the same detector I use for platinum and white gold stud earrings. After walking a couple blocks to the location I set my detector to 74 khz. Good choice because the small gold target gave me a solid but just a whisper type signal. The pinpointer I was using couldn’t pick it up. Spreading the grass with my fingers I caught a glimpse of the yellow gold deep thick grass.

Brenda was excited about the find and looking foreword to surprising her friend. It’s nice to meet Brenda who is a special person willing to help her neighborhood friend find her sentimental pendant.

*** I was detecting on this same beach when I received this phone call . Irena’ s husband, Taras called me after finding me on TheRingFinders directory He told me that his wife had just dropped her Gold wedding ring in the sand while setting up her umbrella at Corona Del Mar State Beach which is actually in the city of Newport Beach, CA. 

He said they were located at a red umbrella just south of the lifeguard tower. It was less than a hundred yards from where I was detecting on the beach. It still took me longer to find the correct umbrella than it
did to find Irena’s precious gold wedding ring.  As it turned out, it was a red and blue umbrella.

When we finally met up, Irena showed me where she felt the ring come off her finger. I set up my detector, backing away to get a few warm up swings. Then it was just a few swings till I quickly dug my first signal which revealed Irena’s yellow gold ring in the bottom of my sand scoop.

They were very happy to have the ring back where it belongs. Now they can enjoy the rest of the day at the beach. It’s always a pleasure to help people like Taras and. Especially when you can and feel the gratitude they have for the help I was able to give them.

**** Kara called me a month after her husband lost his platinum Tiffany wedding band teaching his daughters to boogie board in the surf at Seal Beach, CA.  A friend of hers t old her about TheRingFinders metal detector service directory.

Kara was skeptical about the chances of finding the ring after a month in the ocean. I only could tell her I would try the next morning. I do know this side of Seal Beach has a hard  bottom, one of the reasons to give it a try. The downside is
this place is notorious for having a lot of aluminum trash.

The next morning I arrived with only a verbal description of where the ring was lost. Where I wanted to start my grid search, there was a surf fisherman on the exact spot. 

I moved over about 20 feet to the left to start swinging my detector out towards the waves. When I was shin deep in the water I got my first signal which gave me a bottle cap signal. I gave it a quick dig and gave up. After a moving a few feet, It was bothering me to walk away from a signal. So I went back to dig the target out of the sand. It was not a bottle cap! it was Kara’s husband’s Tiffany PT850 ring in my scoop. I very seldom search using discrimination settings on my detector. This was a heads up to dig everything. Everyday is a day to learn something.

Kara and her daughters met me later that day to pick up the ring. They were excited to have daddy’s ring back. They also were also planning to surprise their dad later that afternoon when he returned home from work..

*** Shone was given a unique gold ring that her mother had worn for more than 27 years. While visiting friends on the Strand at Manhattan Beach, CA. , Shone lost her ring in the sand while playing with a volleyball.  She was devastated because it was a ring that had been promised to her for years. To make it worse, she had only worn it for four days before losing it.

One of the members of her family located me by using the internet. I drove to the location, where they met me. They showed me a 40’x 40ft  area they believed the ring to be. *** Alex had been surfing at Huntington City Beach when he felt his very special hierloom ring slip off his finger into the ocean. It was passed down to Alex from his dad. It meant the world to Alex.

Surfers rings are usually lost too far out to get them a low tides. Especially at Huntington Beach, CA. I looked at the next best low tides to have the optimum chance to find the ring. I would need Alex to be there to guide me in the general location.

We met the next morning at 5am when the parking lots opened. Alex was there with his mother. As we walked onto the beach it was still dark. I tried to be honest with Alex about our chances of finding the ring at this particular beach, considering he was surfing when the loss occurred. We had three things going for us. One, he felt the ring come off.
Two, he was on the inside set of braking waves. Three, he was there to point me in the right direction.

I turned on my metal detector walking straight out till I got to knee deep water. Then I turned to my right to begin scanning parallel to the waves. Three steps to the north “BOOM” first target in the scoop was Alex’s ring. His mother was near me so I passed her the ring to make sure it was the correct ring. It was still dark so she took it over to Alex who had a flashlight. They both came over to me in shock not believing what had just  happened. 

I find rings lost in the ocean a couple days after they have been lost, but not in the first 2 or 3 minutes os a search. Another awesome recovery for the Metal Detector Man. 

These quick finds are always special especially when they are long shots. Just to be realistic, I need to tell you that I have been on more than three unsuccessful searches in the last month that were more than four hours each. WIN SOME! LOSE SOME !

… Daisy and Brandon were at Huntington Beach, CA. enjoying the day on the beach when their day was disrupted by the loss of her diamond engagement ring. She didn’t feel it come off her finger but they were both sure that the ring was in the sand

Brandon was advised by someone on the beach about TheRingFinders metal detectin service. He located me by using his smart phone to get my contact information. I live less than 7 miles from where they at on the beach. I grabbed my equipment and was able to meet them at the location. 

We love these type searches because they were able to stay on the beach where they had been all day. Once someone leaves the probable area of the loss, it may take longer to find where they had been than it actually takes to find the ring with a metal detector.

I set up my detector beginning my grid search and within a few minutes the beautiful white gold with a sparkling diamond was in the scoop.

***Jim’s wife, Joanne had lost her 4 carat diamond platinum wedding ring at Balboa in Newport Beach, CA. They are staying at a beach front vacation rental. He called asking for help and I was able to meet him at the location soon after our phone conversation. 

When I arrived Jim told me the whole story. His wife had been sitting on the beach n her beach chair watching the waves, etc. She then asked her daughter to go back to house and get her book. Her daughter brought the book up to the beach. That’s when Joanne remembered that she had placed three pieces of jewelry out of site in the book. 

When they returned to the house two of the pieces of jewelry were on the floor. The large diamond ring was no where to be found. The area of loss could be anywhere through the house, patio, boardwalk, 75 yards across a grass soccer field or the 75 yards of sand to the beach chair. Very challenging.

While Jim was updating me on the details, he told me that another detector person was searching the location. That guy gave up going further down the beach. I knew I would have to start the search as though it hadn’t been detected. In my head I was planning my best way to attack the search. I chose to start up on the towel line because the beach sifting machines would be hitting that are first thing in the morning. Such a large search zone might require returning in the morning to do the grass soccer field.

I started up my detector right in front of where Joanne was still sitting in her beach chair. I got a pull tab signal within the first three feet. BUT!!! It turned out to be this gorgeous platinum diamond wedding ring that Joanne had worn for over 23 years. 

Both Jim and Joanne witnessed the recovery. They were amazed. She kept repeating “ Who are You? Where did you come from? “

We often find rings fast when people feel their rings come off and can stay in the area of the loss. This was such a large search area with so many possibilities that it could have been found in an open area or picked off by the beach sifting machines ie: Beach King. I figured that the ring stayed in the book until her daughter handed Joanne the book.If the daughter switched hands or loosened her grip on the book it could have fallen anywhere.

A very happy couple for sure, as always it was a pleasure to help them.

… Ryan lost his platinum wedding ring in the dry sand at a local Orange County, CA. beach. He had just finished applying sunscreen when his ring flew off his finger as he quickly waved his arm.

Ryan had previous experience with trying to find lost items in dry beach sand, so he didn’t waste time searching by hand. He called me after finding my contact information online. We made arrangements to meet at his location at Crystal Cove a California State Beach. 

It was less than a five mile drive for me, so I was on the beach shortly after we talked on the phone. 

Because Ryan was still in the location and he had called soon after the loss it was,a quick recovery. I wish all searches were this easy. Many calls come after people leave the beach. Then we have a problem of finding the general area of the loss.
