Wedding Band Lost On Topsail Beach Found After Sunset By Crystal Coast Ring Finders

Bob is an avid surfer.  His family was spending time at a Topsail Beach, NC beach house.  Beach chairs were set up just below the home and Bob decided to take the paddle board out in the surf.  He removed his wedding band (one day before his anniversary) and placed it in the beach chair pocket.  Before Bob returned, his son started to gather up the chairs and umbrella from the beach.  He wasn’t aware his fathers ring was in one of the chairs.  When they realized what happened a search began and Bob’s daughter-in-law found my service and called for help.  She stated they had to be out of the rental by 10am the next day.  I loaded my gear and started my 60 mile drive.  It was dark when I arrived and Bob’s family was very smart to mark the location of where the umbrella was placed and told me all chairs where North of that spot.  After a few passes I received a very loud signal.  I dropped to a knee and my pinpointer sang out the location of Bob’s ring.  Since it was dark during the recovery, we took photographs on the rental house back porch.  I remember Bob saying “It took you longer to grab your gear than it did to find the ring”

Nevaeh made a post in late January about a very sentimental ring she lost the previous May on the beach.  She informed me that after a swim and as she was on the beach house steps, she felt the ring slip off.

Nevaeh’s fiancé gave her the ring for their first Christmas together and around the time she got her first tattoo of the sun.  Her fiancé had the Tiffany & Co. (her favorite jewelry brand) ring engraved with a picture of the sun.  This added to the sentimental value of the ring for her.

I contacted Nevaeh about the post and she agreed to allow me to search the area.  I parked at her friend’s beach house and was able to locate her ring about 4 inches down in the sand.  She & I was surprised it was still there and not more deeply buried by sand.  Being buried in the sand for 8 months made the silver ring a bit tarnished but Nevaeh informed me she would have it cleaned as soon as possible.

Gold Ring Lost In Wilmington, NC Backyard Found

Mike was spending time in his backyard with his dogs and went to spread some clumped pine straw from his landscaping.  He felt his gold wedding band slip off and go flying somewhere behind him.  He and his family tried to find the lost ring and found it difficult.  Mike found Crystal Coast Ring Finders using an online search and I made plans to meet him when our schedules permitted.

Upon arrival, Mike led me to the area he was standing and the suspected area he expected the ring to be found.  Unfortunately, I didn’t receive a single good signal until I was near his metal fence. I attempted to search the fence area with my pinpointer and still no luck finding the hidden ring.  As I expanded the search area, and near a bird feeder post, I got a very strong signal.  Mike’s ring actually flew off behind and to his left and not directly behind him with the pine straw.  He was very happy to have the ring he has worn for 34 years back on his finger.  He also told me it was the first time he lost it.

Doug and his wife Kim were spending Father’s Day with their kids at Topsail Beach, NC.  Doug was in the surf using a boogie/body board and upon arrival back to their beach setup, Doug removed the tight wrist band of the boogie board.  It was shortly after that he noticed his wedding band was missing.  After the family searched the beach, Doug called Crystal Coast Ring Finders.  I headed their way as soon as possible.  Upon arrival, the tide had subsided and after searching around the beach chairs, a search began in the wet sand and surf.  Less than 10 minutes later, Doug’s wedding band gave a very strong signal and was pulled from the beach.  It was a hot day and I think they were very happy to finally leave the beach and possibly a meal.

Thank you Doug & Kim

Justin and his family were spending the day at a Topsail Beach.  As they were enjoying the day and a beach swim, Justin began to dry his arms and hands on his beach towel.  He felt the ring fly off of his finger but didn’t see where it had landed.  He knew there must be some way to find a person who metal detects to come to his rescue.  Within minutes, he found The Ring Finders and called me to help him recover his ring of almost 9 years.   I told Justin I would load up and begin the 1:30 hour drive.  Upon arrival, and after a few brain fog moments of my own, I began to search the beach.  On about the 3 pass, Justin removed the sun shade that was in the path and  I hit another signal but wasn’t too sure it was Justin’s ring.   As I placed my detector down to further investigate the iffy signal, the Minelab Equinox 800 coil landed upon a strong 12 signal.  I looked up at Justin and said “I think that is your ring”  Sure enough from under the coil and out of the sand, I lifted up Justin’s wedding band.  He was thrilled because he was leaving to head back home very soon!

John & Sophie arrived at their North Topsail, NC beach house one day prior for a family vacation with great views and weather.  John had taken his wedding band of many years off to swim in the ocean.  The beach chairs were moved a few times because of the incoming tide and were eventually folded up and returned to the house.  John called me later that afternoon the ask if I could be of assistance.  Upon arrival John showed me the boundaries for my search.  There were very little signs of metal in the sand and at one point, I wondered if I had the correct search settings.  After a crusty penny, my next signal was a strong soda tab signal.  This time it was just the opposite!  John’s white gold wedding band was peaking up from the sand after my first try to brush the sand away from the target.  If I remember correctly, I think John said “well how about that!”   John told the neighbors that he didn’t need to sleep outside tonight!

Adam was spending another vacation day with the family.  Searching for shark teeth, hoping to witness a baby turtle nest hatch and throwing a ball with one of his sons.  He stated that he usually keeps the ring home but in this occasion,  forgot…  Adam contacted Emerald Isle Metal Detecting shortly after the loss and plans were agreed.   Adam was very helpful in showing the area he thought the ring was in while he was along the shoreline.   My 2nd target, just after his son & wife walked past, was Adam’s ring!
