Here’s a beach I searched just for fun the other day, no rings but keys and lots of change. Last year around this time I found a beautiful diamond ring for a lady that lost it off the pier into the water below.

This is a beach that our parents took us to every weekend in the summer time, when we were kids. What makes this beach so difficult to search is that it’s such a big beach and the tide goes out a very long way… Making it hard to concentrate on a specific area where lots of people gather.

Searching the area around the pier is where you will have a chance to find rings & coins. That being said get ready to dig many pennies as I believe people make a wish and toss it into the water.

As I was searching the beach on Feb.4th near the end of the day, I was blessed with this amazing sun set! I love the search for hidden & buried treasure and I treasure this world we live in…

Diamond in the snow…New Westminster

Today I found a diamond egagement ring for a young lady who lost it on Dec.31/08

This took me over 5 hours and four visits till the ring showed up in a pile of snow on the side of a road.

After grid searching and cutting back the pile of snow I knew I’d have to come back when the snow had melted.

Today was the day as I searched an area on the side of the road where the snow was piled up and got a good signal… and there was the ring!

I drove to where the lady worked and walked into the store to give her the ring, she was very excited and very thankful. I love this job as it makes people feel good and me as well…

Lost my rings in the snow! Surrey BC

The picture above is of a lady who lost both of her rings… diamond engagement ring and diamond wedding band, while shoveling snow off her mothers driveway in late December.

After 5 minutes or so of shoveling the driveway this young lady took off her gloves because they were soaked, 20 minutes later she looked down and noticed both rings were gone.

It became dark and cold, with her car lights aiming at the piles of snow, she spent the next few hours that evening searching for her beloved wedding rings.
She didn’t want to go home and tell her husband that she lost her rings.

Soaking wet and cold she finally pack it in and later that night when she got home she broke the sad news to her husband…
The next day they would search together for the rings, after digging and searching in the cold snow without any luck they gave up the search.

The evening before, her sister had heard of the lost rings and researched the internet for someone that could help.
She typed in the words… ”lost my ring in the snow” and found the number for a treasure hunter in Vancouver who has a service called… ”Finders”
I received the call and was on my way to help find the rings, when I got there I listened to her story and I was very confident that I would recover them for her.
It wasn’t a hard search as it only took me 5 minutes or so to find the diamond engagement ring.

This was the big diamond ring and they were very happy that was found first! It was the wedding band that would be the tough one to find.

After a search of the area the first ring was found in, it took almost 1 hour to find the wedding band, I found it close to my truck on the side of the road.

It was a good thing she called as that ring would have been found by someone after the snow melted or it could have been caught in someone’s car or truck tire and driven away.

Large White Gold Ring…Lost in Snow/Cypress Mountain

We just had a big dump of snow in mid December and the first call I get was from a young man who lost his big 8 mm white gold ring up at Cypress mountain.

He tells me that his call car got stuck in the snow and he got out and started to dig out his front tire.

All of a sudden he looked down to see his ring was no longer on his finger… Panic sets in as he spends the next couple of hours searching for his lost ring.

Cold and dark now he decides to go home and look to find a metal detector to rent. The next morning he drives back up the mountain with his rented metal detector to search the area.

As he arrives he notices that the side of the road where his car was stuck in the snow has now been plowed and the snow pushed up and over. This changes everything! He spends 3 hours searching but has to call it quits… No ring.

That day when he gets back home he gets on the computer and starts searching for a way to find his ring. Something he types in takes him to Finders and he reads the website and sends an S.O.S

I reply to his distress call…email… and we set up a time to meet and search for the ring the next morning.

I met up with the man and we take my truck to search for his ring. On the way up he tells me how sad he is as his wife is out of town and they were only married for 8 months and now he lost the ring.

I could tell how much the ring meant to him and how bad he wanted it back. I assured him that I’d do my best and if it was there, I’d find it.

We get to the spot and he shows me where his car got stuck, but now it’s been plowed and that changes everything.

I tell him to wait in the truck and stay warm as it was very cold out. I started my grid search and within 5 minutes I got a great signal about 30 feet from where he was parked. I start to dig and out pops a big white gold ring… I hold it up and he comes running and screaming…No way! You found it!

Every ring has a story attached to it and it has an amazing meaning for the person who lost it. I help continue that story by finding it for them…

African Gold & Silver Ring Lost In Vancouver Ocean

A few years back I received a call from a man who was very upset about losing his wedding band that was made for him while he and his wife to be were in Africa. He’d never be able to replace it as he couldn’t just fly to Africa…

It was a gold and silver ring and it meant the world to him, he told me the story on how they got engaged in Africa and how they wanted the rings to be from there. He told me that he had lost it at a beach in Vancouver called Spanish Banks, he was enjoying a hot summers day in the water when he felt the ring come off his finger.

Instead of panicking he make a mental note of the location , this would give me a good chance to find the ring when the tide was out the next day. I checked the low tidechart and it was a very early 5am low tide.

The young man wasn’t able to meet me that morning as he had to work, but I felt good because he gave me a very detailed description of the area he felt the ring was in. As I started my grid search and within 5 minutes I received a good signal, only an inch or so down was his ring!

I think you can tell how happy he was by the picture above when I delivered his ring to him that day…

Gold Celtic Ring…Found in a strawberry patch in Poco

I received a call from a gentleman early last year in regards to a lost ring, he goes on to tell me that as he was walking up the steps of his friends place when the lady in front of him trips and falls backwards, he quickly throws his arms around her and they both fall to the ground.

He saves the lady but by doing so he brakes a few ribs and as he threw his arms around her, his ring goes flying off his finger into a strawberry patch. The next day in pain he rents a metal detector and searches for his custom white & yellow gold Celtic ring .

He tells me that he spent close to 6 hours searching for it with the metal detector, and he was on his hands and knees searching the dirt but gave up when he just couldn’t find it.

That night he went on the computer to find a treasure hunter, someone that could help him find his ring. He came across my service ”Finders” and called for help, I listened to his story and we met the next morning to search for his ring.

When I arrive at the location I see the area of the strawberry patch is very small, I think to myself this shouldn’t take long. I turn on my metal detector and begin my search, within seconds I receive a good signal, I bend down and move the dirt and out pops his ring… He was so happy!

He told me how frustrated he was after searching the day before and not finding it. He started to think that maybe it wasn’t lost there, how did you find it so fast he asked?

I told him that I’ve been doing this for years and that I have the best equipment for the search, also the metal detectors that people rent are not the greatest and if you’ve never used a metal detector before and if you don’t perform a grid search, it could be difficult to find.

Roadside ring found… I get a call at around noon time today Feb 22nd and a man asked me if I could help him find his white gold wedding band that he lost after throwing an apple core out of his truck window.

He told me that he had a good idea where the area of the ring was, I agreed to meet him and drove out to Surrey close to Langley. I wasn’t feeling all that great as I was fighting a head cold but I love the challenge of finding his ring.

When we met we talked about the area it could be lost in he told me that he’d searched for close to 6 hours in total and even rented a metal detector, but didn’t find the ring. I did a lose grid search of the area but found nothing.

I gave him an old ring that I use for testing with a string attached to it, I asked him to drive up the road and toss it out in the area he believed it was in so I could see where the ring lands. The string that is tied to the ring gives me a chance to see and follow the movement of the ring when its in mid-air.

The first time the ring hit the side of the road and made it close to the ditch, so I knew that I might have to put my dry suit on as parts of the ditch was close to 3 feet deep. Before I’d do that I asked him to do it one more time, this time throw it up in the air I told him so it would hit the road and bounce and slide as he was moving some what fast.

This time the ring stopped close to the side of the road just in the grassy part, I started to search that area and maybe 3 yards away I found his ring…

He was very happy and told me that he was only married a year but the ring was very special to him.

This one took me 30 minutes to find…

Gold Nugget in the dugout… Burnaby

A few years ago I was at my mechanics getting my truck fixed, as I was sitting and reading a treasure magazine Dale came into the room and asked me about the ”Finders” rack card he saw in cab of my truck.

Dale owns the shop and has been friends with my wife since they were kids and fixing her car for many years.

I told him that I treasure hunt and that I started a service to help people find their lost jewellery at beaches, parks, lakes, yard & ski resorts.

He seemed very interested and I could tell that he wanted to ask me a question so I asked if he had lost something.

He laughed and said that he’d lost his refined gold nugget that was made from all of his old gold. I asked where, he said at a baseball diamond in Burnaby.

I told him that I’d take a look for it, he said that it had been lost for over two years and that he saw people metal detecting in that park and that it would be a waste of my time.

I told him that you never know unless you check it out and I’d be happy to do so. He gave me the name of the park and he told me that he put the nugget in his bag before the game and left it on the bleachers.

Later in the game he went to get a shirt from out of his bag, and that’s where he thought the nugget fell out. He also descried the nugget and then drew it on paper and gave it to me.

After I got my truck fixed I drove out to the park to take a look and see if I could find it for him. I found the bleachers and they were metal and light, so I moved them over about ten feet in order to search the area.

After grid searching the area I found a bit of change and bottle caps and pull tabs but no gold… I sat there for a second thinking about where else I should search and just for the heck of it I searched the dugout and within seconds I had the nugget.

It had been in the dugout for two years and no one found it… Talk about luck! I called Dale to tell him the good news and told him where I found it, he remembered at the end of the game putting his bag in the dugout and getting his keys.

I looked at the picture he drew and it matched perfectly! The nugget fit in the picture he drew exactly as if it was traced… I think he missed it…

I received some free work on my truck the next time I took it in…

Sheridan Lake BC… Two out of Three isn’t bad… But where’s the third ring?

I get a call maybe five years back and this man wants to have me search for three rings he lost in a lake.

After talking for a while I find out that its a 6 hour drive to the lake, I’d have to bring a diver as he remembered it was deep water that he lost the rings in.

I contacted my good friend and treasure hunter JM and we drove up together in hopes of finding the rings.

We met the man at a rest stop just an hour out of town, he was going to show us the area he lost them in and ride back home. He had a very cool bike and it took a bit to keep up with him on the ride up.

When we got up there (6 hours later) he told us he was drinking and didn’t remember the night very well but he remembered he dove into the water off the dock and swam out and felt his rings come off.

I listened to his story then I went to the water, to my surprise there was close to 4 feet of mud that turned the water cloudy with every step. This was a nightmare! How would JM see anything while he was searching underwater?

I thought about it for a bit, then I came up with an idea to tie a rope to him and have him go out 30 yards then I’d slowly pull him in. When he got a signal he’d pull the rope once, I’d stop pulling until he gave me a double pull then I’d start pulling him in.

We did this the same way I’d do a grid search on the beach, I’d line him up and pull him in until we grid searched the area we felt the rings were in, after hours of searching we had no rings.

I gave JM a brake and decided to search around the dock in chest deep of water. Every step darkened the water but I don’t need to see I just need to get a signal and with my long handle scoop I’d find it. I found lots of garbage but no rings.

After a few more hours I received a signal and to my delight I had found the big gold Harley Davidson ring with the help of JM.

I gave this to the biker and he was happy but I know he was hoping for more. It didn’t happen on that day and the biker headed back home.

We stayed the night and started our search early the next morning. After close to 5 hours I made another discovery in the shallow water chest deep, it was a beautiful huge gold ring with rubies and a diamond.

On the picture above you can see my makers ( Red balloons) they mark the area the two rings were found. But where was the 3rd ring? That was the money ring, a dragon ring with rubies & diamonds… Lots of rubies & diamonds!

We had to call it a day and head home as we had to work on Monday, when we got close to home I called the young man to tell him we found one more ring. He was very pleased and rewarded us nicely and covered our expenses.

That 3rd ring would haunt me a bit as I kept thing what if I could find it for him, so a few weeks later my wife and I went back to look for it.

After two more days of grid searching in every direction and no luck I had to let it go. I wish it was closer as that would be one I’d continue looking for.

The thought did cross my mind that maybe he lost it before he went swimming as he did have a lot to drink that night…?

Lost Diamond Ring in Seattle… Found!

I received an email from a young lady in Seattle WA. on Dec. 26 who was in a panic over losing her beautiful diamond engagement ring in the front yard of her parents place while playing in the snow with her family and husband to be.

After reading her email I could tell that this ring meant the world to her as it put her Christmas on hold while she and her family spent Christmas day searching for her ring that was lost some where in the yard under the snow.

I contacted her and told her I’d find a treasure hunter from her area to help find the ring… After a few hours searching my contacts list I couldn’t find anyone that would take on the challenge as it was Christmas holidays and people where with their family.

I called to discuss the loss of her ring and she told me that it was given to her in September 08 and they were planning on getting married in June 09.

Talking on the phone I could tell how heart broken she was as most people are in this situation. I discussed the lost ring with my wife and she suggested that we should go and find the ring for her, as she knows how much I enjoy the search.

The morning of Dec.27 I took my brother to the airport at 4 am then drove home to pick up my wife and my metal detectors and drove (3 1/2 hours) south of Vancouver to Seattle.

After the long drive we met up at a gas station close to her parents place were the ring was lost. I followed them to the location then I asked all my usual questions on the area she was throwing snowballs and sliding down the hill on the side of her yard. I took all the information and began my grid search.

After close to 1 1/2 hours and a complete cross grid of her front yard we had no ring…

Where could it be I thought to myself, maybe she threw a snowball up on the roof, or maybe the ring got caught on her Nephews jacket and walked away from the area…? Or did she even have the ring on? Some times people end up finding their ring in their house weeks later.

The thing is if you don’t see the ring fly off your finger, its a bit of a needle in a haystack…

As I was thinking to myself about where the ring could be I walked up to a short hedge by the front door. It was about five feet long and four feet high.

I detected the one side of the hedge then the top and I started to search the other side when I heard a faint signal.

I pushed the loop of the metal detector further into the hedge and out fell the diamond ring… The last place I checked… The ring was caught in the branches of the hedge and dislodged when I pushed the loop in.

This lady was so excited and overwhelmed by the discovery! She later told me that she couldn’t think of getting married in any other ring but that one… Can you blame her?
