John’s 14 Karat Gold Wedding Band Back in View Again!

John Proudly Displays One of His Most Precious Possessions Recovered by Brian Rudolph

BRIAN RUDOLPH, LOST ITEM RECOVERY SPECIALIST (LAND, WATER, SAND, SNOW, LEAVES, HOUSES & VEHICLES) WILL FIND YOUR LOST KEEPSAKE! CALL ASAP (301) 466-8644!

I got a call from a guy named John who said that he lost his ring while lawn mowing a few days earlier. He got off of the seat of the mower to brush off some of the grass cuttings that ended up on top of the mower. As he was flicking the clippings away from the machine, he felt his 14 karat yellow gold wedding band fly off of his finger.

John really didn’t think it was going to be a big deal finding his ring in the grass because he knew that it was in the vicinity of where he was cleaning the mower. He had not moved from that spot because the mower was stationary. So he searched and searched but he couldn’t find the ring anywhere. He then acquired a metal detector and he figured that he would be able to find his wedding band with no problem. That too became another unsuccessful attempt.

This whole ordeal became perplexing to John and so he went online to search the best way to find a missing ring on the lawn. THE RING FINDERS website popped up and within minutes, John located my information and called me up to seek my help.

On the phone, I listened to John’s account and I told him that I would have his ring back on his finger by the time I would leave his estate the following evening. He was quite encouraged but he had some doubts because he said that he tried everything to find this ring and it was as if it disappeared into thin air.

The next evening, I headed to Boonsboro, Maryland in order to help recover John’s lost keepsake. He had a very large estate! I believe it may have been five acres just in the front yard! However, according to John, we would not be metal detecting a large area since he remembered exactly where his lawn mower sat at the time that the ring went flying.

I remember how dark it was that evening because there were no street lights near his property. I put on my high lumens headlamp, greeted John who walked down to my car (which was at the end of a very long driveway) and then we moved our way over to the search site. John showed me where the lawn mower was when he flicked the grass cuttings off of the seat. I then asked him what direction he was moving his arm and hand at the time of the incident. He showed me exactly where he was placed and how his body moved forward in the direction facing the main lawn area. Also, I inquired as to where John was searching with the metal detector, even though he came up empty-handed. I wanted to get an idea of how far across the lawn he actually searched just in case he undershot his targeted area.

After I got the whole story from John and we covered all of the details as to what happened and where everything took place, I returned to my car to get all of my gear and then headed back to the location where I would be metal detecting. It was a good long walk across the perfectly manicured grass. My client returned to his house where he relaxed while I took care of the search.

I began my grid lines starting at the place where John parked his mower at the time of the “ring fling”. I moved across the lawn approximately 25 to 30 ft. When nothing came up on my machine, I started the next grid line, moving back towards where John’s mower was. Still, nothing appeared on my detector screen. I did another grid line across the grass and still there were no tones indicating that there was any lost jewelry out there.

A few times during my short search, I would encounter a few decent signals all to find out that I was picking up small pieces of aluminum which came from some beer cans that had been shredded by the lawn mower. I had gotten quite excited each time I hit an encouraging signal but when I looked down into the grass, there were just pieces of ‘can slaw’!

Finally, I decided to push my search a little bit beyond the footage that I initially gridded. It only took seconds before I hit a fantastic signal! I didn’t get too excited because of what I encountered earlier, but I was optimistic that I had found John’s lost wedding band. I knelt down on the grass and took my pinpointer to zero-in on the target. Just as the beeping sound could be heard from my handheld detector, I saw the most spectacular piece of shiny yellow gold popping through the blades of grass! I did in fact find John’s missing ring! It must have taken me less than three minutes to find his band from start to finish! John had not searched far enough onto the lawn. He was probably off by about 15 to 20 feet because he didn’t think that his ring flew that far across his front yard! This is very common for others as well when they are looking for their lost items!

I was thrilled to reveal my findings with John soon after I walked to his front door (which took longer to get to his front door than the entire time I was metal detecting on his lawn!). He had one big property! John couldn’t believe where I found his wedding band! I explained to him that this happens all the time! People just don’t look far enough because they just don’t think it’s possible for their ring to fly that far from where it came off the person’s finger!

It was a wonderful time celebrating with John out there on his beautiful green grass in the middle of the night! We both left the ‘scene of the crime’ with huge smiles on our faces! He was completely relieved to get his wedding band back! I kept my word to John…he did in fact have that ring back on his finger before re-entering his Boonsboro home that evening!

Wedding Band Lost for Over a Year…Found Buried in Neighbor’s Gainesville, Virginia Yard

  • from Washington (District of Columbia, United States)

Scott’s Handsome Gold Wedding Band Showing Off Its Brilliance!

Proudly and Excitedly, Scott Holds His Most Priceless Keepsake!

BRIAN RUDOLPH, LOST ITEM RECOVERY SPECIALIST (LAND, WATER, SAND, HOUSES & VEHICLES) WILL FIND YOUR LOST KEEPSAKE! CALL ASAP (301) 466-8644!

I connected with a man named Scott who learned of THE RING FINDERS from an ad that I posted online. He asked me all kinds of questions about what kind of help I could offer him and I asked Scott tons of questions, as well.

A year or so earlier, Scott highly suspected that he lost his 14 karat yellow gold wedding band while helping his elderly neighbors who lived next door to him. He picked up a truck load of mulch for both he and his neighbor and he spent a full day lifting, carrying and spreading numerous bags of mulch throughout the two properties’ flower beds, bushes and surrounding trees. It was sometime at the end of the day that Scott noticed that his ring was missing off of his finger.

The good neighbor searched everywhere for the classic style wedding band. Sadly, all of his efforts could not lead Scott to his cherished wedding day keepsake. Over the next year, he would use metal detectors to search both lawns and still he was unable to recover the ring. It was at the moment when the defeated man saw my ad about the elite international metal detectorist directory that his hope finally began to rise like the sun again!

Scott and I went through all the details during our initial phone call conversation regarding the loss of his wedding band. The next evening I met up with him at his residence. I was excited to help solve this mystery and try to recover his beloved sentimental keepsake for him!

Even though Scott concluded that his ring must have gone missing during the time of the landscaping project, there was no concrete evidence that it was outside. Some stories end up concluding that the person returns into the house and they had washed their hands off and the ring slips off their finger at that moment. In this case, I would be blindly searching based on Scott’s hunch. Also, the mind will try to play tricks on you when you’re metal detecting for someone like this client because you constantly face doubts about one’s recollection of events that took place long ago. In addition to that, the gentleman had already used a metal detector in his attempts to locate the missing band. Though he’s not a professional detectorist, some will get lucky from time to time. That meant that the odds were less in our favor that I might recover the ring based on the number of previous recovery efforts made.

After Scott showed me all of the places where he walked to and from the truck and where he dumped the bags of mulch, I returned to the car to gather up my detecting equipment. I started the search on Scott’s property right where his truck backed up onto his lawn. It was pretty cold outside, yet my adrenalin had kicked in and I was ready for battle!

For approximately 45 minutes to an hour, I checked the front lawn, the flower beds, all around the trees and the side of the house that was adjacent to the neighbor’s property. I got target signals alright but when I dug up the objects that were just below the surface, all that I found were bottle caps, soda can pull tabs and random pieces of aluminum.

I detected every spot that was even a small possibility of where Scott’s ring could have ended up. When I finished the yard and areas near the sidewalk, it was time to take the search over to the neighbor’s property. My client had already been given permission for me to detect the next door neighbor’s front and side yards.

The first sections of the adjacent property that I conquered were the flowerbeds on either side of the neighbor’s front walkway. The mulch had been laid everywhere in these regions. Except for electrical interference from the house and some pieces of miscellaneous metal found just below the surface, there wasn’t anything more to boast about finding. Next, I moved back down the hill to a grassy strip of land that started at the street and led up the driveway. I concluded that that piece of land was also free of any buried jewelry. I slowly and methodically continued my grid search up the grassy knoll along side the driveway. My plan was to detect from the concrete to about 20 feet out into the lawn for the whole distance leading up to the front walkway. I thought that it made logical sense that the ring could have fallen off Scott’s finger as he carried bags of mulch up the hill and over to the flower beds near the front of his neighbor’s house.

Little by little I moved my way up the knoll. I got a number of decent signals which led me to lift up the earth in a few spots just to make sure that I didn’t miss the wedding band. However, nothing of interest was discovered. It was not until I was about halfway up the driveway, just inches from the concrete, that I got a very curious target signal. The object appeared to be buried perhaps 1.5 to 2 inches below the surface. It was showing up on my detector screen as a potential gold type object. I knelt down and proceeded to take a look at what my metal detector had located. Next, I took my handheld metal detector out (called a pinpointer), as well as my digging trowl and I centered in on where exactly the target was buried. Then, I cut below the surface to bring up that section of earth to investigate. At first, I was not seeing what my detectors were picking up. I used the pinpointer again to locate the piece of metal and then all of a sudden my eyes became fixated on a gold colored object that was just barely peaking through the earth that I had dug up! I looked closer and there it was! It was a gold wedding band! My heart lit up so brilliantly at my discovery! I could not have been more excited at that moment! This piece of jewelry had been buried for a good long while and it really made its way down below the earth quite a bit more than I would have expected! I find rings that are buried for one or more years and they sometimes don’t make their way down into the ground as this one ended up! It really depends on the type of earth that you are dealing with and the region that you are searching in. I was so happy! It was late, completely dark outside, cold as ice and the ring could have been anywhere (inside or outside)! And yet I end up finding the band on Scott’s neighbor’s property! I was looking down at the very spot where it had dropped over a year ago and it would now finally be returned to its proper owner’s finger! I couldn’t wait to break the news! My successful search was finally over!

Once I took a few photos of the ring which was left in the very position where I discovered it, I had the honor and privilege to reveal my find with Scott! It was definitely a moment to remember! He was beyond surprised and completely blown away by where I found it! With all of the searching that he had done over the past year (using metal detectors and giving it his all), he was so happy that he called a professional to get the job done! Finally, after all of this time, Scott slid the very handsome and extremely sentimental ring back on his finger! His wife was just as excited to learn that the ring that she had presented to Scott on their wedding day would not be lost forever, but that it was finally unearthed and returned home once again!

Lost Wedding Ring – Pensacola, FL – FOUND!!!

  • from Orange Beach (Alabama, United States)

So apparently Pine straw is out there trying to steal some rings so be careful. 😃. A few days ago I received a call from Bill. Actually backing up, Shelly, Bill’s wife had heard about me from a friend and messaged me through Facebook. After a quick reply, she had Bill call me. Bill described that he had been working in the yard putting out some pine straw when he looked down and saw that his ring was missing. Bill had been wearing that ring for the last 38 years so I was willing to bet that he noticed it was gone quicker than most people would have. When I told him how I could help he decided he wanted me to come try even though he wasn’t 100% sure that it was in the yard. I was pretty sure that I could find it and I was determined to try. What Bill didn’t realize is that when I saw the address I noticed that he lived in the neighborhood next to mine. If there is one thing I like even more than helping people find a ring, it’s helping a neighbor find their ring. When I got there, I switched to the pinpointer coil so that I could get down between the bushes and Bill went back inside to let me concentrate. He didn’t have to wait long and was beside himself when I knocked on his door and told him his ring was perched on my detector by the tree (Covid safe 😷👍). He was even more surprised when he went to talk about a reward and I explained that I literally could have cut through the neighborhood and walked there. I wouldn’t take anything from my neighbor and new friend. I’m so happy that I could help!  Merry Christmas to you both Bill and Shelly!  God bless!

Lost Alabama Class Ring – FOUND!!!

  • from Orange Beach (Alabama, United States)

One night last week I got a call from a very nice gentleman that needed some help. He had been out putting in pine straw and when he got done he noticed that his class ring wasn’t on his hand. This was really bad because he’d had this ring on his finger since 1968 when he graduated from the University of Alabama. He immediately told his wife and she put out the call for help. Someone eventually told her about what I do and gave her my phone number. When Mr. Spivey called he asked if I was the Ringmaster, I was tempted to say yes but I didn’t want to jinx myself. 😃 He was very nice and explained what happened and I told him how I thought I could help. We agreed that I would come early the next morning and I asked him to text me the address. He explained that he didn’t have all of that techy stuff and offered to give me the address and directions. I told him the address would be great but he very thoroughly proceeded to give me the directions. I was thrilled to hear someone describe exactly how to get to their home and go over each part of the route that they felt was important to describe the way to their home. I thought about how technology had changed a lot of that but I thoroughly enjoyed hearing him describe that route he had been so many times. 👍 When I got to the house in the morning I was met in the driveway by a pretty Lab. I was pretty sure that she was friendly but I gave a quick call to the number I had. Mrs. Spivey assured me that “Penny” was a sweetheart and I opened my door to lots of tail wagging and some curious sniffs. By that time, Mrs Spivey had come out and walked me out to the back so I could see all of the fresh pine straw. They weren’t 100% sure that it was in the yard but it seemed like the most logical place so I started my search. Mrs Spivey went back inside and instructed me to knock if I needed anything. I was using a small sharpshooter coil so I was able to go through everything and stick it down between all of the shrubs as well. As Murphy’s law would state, I was at the very last bush when I got a beautiful, very obvious gold tone. I pulled back the leaves and parted the fresh pine straw to see a gorgeous, well loved, solid gold ring with a Crimson stone on top. I thought for just a second about how much it had been a part of Mr. and Mrs Spivey’s lives and then I went to knock on the door. She came out and asked if I needed anything and finally noticed the ring when I pointed to it on my detector. As you can imagine, she was thrilled and even got a bit choked up when she talked about getting it back to her husband. I am so glad I got to make sure that it wasn’t the end of the journey for your family heirloom. Merry Christmas to you both.

Platinum Wedding Band Lost In Yard Clippings Redmond WA

  • from Mercer Island (Washington, United States)

Watch this exciting recovery video and like, share and subscribe.

Yesterday a gentleman contacted me asking if I could help him find his lost platinum wedding band. He explained he had been cleaning up some yard clippings in a very small area of his yard and pitching them into a yard waste bin. He shared his wife was upset over this and that he had to figure out a way to get his ring back. After our brief phone conversation we set a schedule to meet up for the search the next morning.

Having been told that he had a full bin full of yard clippings I came prepared with a tarp, and a few tools to help with the work. After he showed me the area on the side of his home where he had been picking up the clippings it looked like a fairly straight forward search site. He was not wearing gloves and it had been a bit colder out. My first plan was to search the area where he had been picking up the yard clippings. He then showed me the full bin of scraps and when doing so I learned that he had recovered his other wedding band from the top of this bin at the same time he lost the ring I was called to search for. With this new knowledge I focused on clearing the bin of yard clippings first. After I processed the yard waste bin with no ring found we knew it had been cleared and continued on.

After working the side yard for a bit of time scanning the ground still with leftover clippings scattered about and still no ring. He had told me that it was a smaller platinum band but I knew it was still enough for my machine to detect. This just meant the ring could be easily hiding out and I would need to be very diligent in my search as not to miss the ring. In the middle of this work area there is two bushes that had been cut down leaving some sturdy stocks about a foot and a half tall like a porcupine. As I kept searching over the flat dirt and not finding his ring my growing concern was that his ring may have dropped down inside either of these two porcupine bushes. Finally I was left with very little options and started poking my pinpointer trough the deep stalks of the cut back bushes. After processing both bushes and almost no more plant to search my pinpointer went crazy! Bingo I had located his ring and he was very appreciative of all the services provided. It was nice to return this wedding ring of fifteen years back to this gentleman’s finger were it belongs.

Cheers,

Jeff Morgan

SeattleRingHunter Lost Item Recovery Specialist LAND & SCUBA Call ASAP 206-618-8194

I was contacted by a woman that realized her wedding ring went missing. She told me she had recently been in her yard the day prior with damp cold hands raking leaves. She believes her ring may have fallen off during her yard work and wanted a specialist to come do a search for her ring. She lost a single custom made 14k yellow gold wedding band with a solitaire diamond and some tourmalines. She had no inclination of when or where the ring slipped off so after a detailed investigative chat with her I formulated a game plan. I prioritized my areas of search base on the areas she worked in the yard, spent the majority of her time and paid special attention to where she took her work gloves off. Her yard not all that big still had plenty of hiding spots for a dainty wedding ring as any yard does. Knowing that these searches are not always a quick process I wasted no time in getting straight to work clearing areas of interest one after another. After quite a long detailed search process the ring was found in the scariest of places. To think this ring could have been carted off the property for ever. Never a more satisfying feeling than when you recover a precious ring so close to being lost forever! To know we saved another precious wedding ring makes for a great day. The woman was grateful to have received her ring back and I am happy to have been a part of the recovery process. Watch the exciting video to see the detailed search as it progresses and the surprising recovery of this beautiful wedding ring.

Cheers,

Metal Detecting Lost Engagement Ring…Found in Burke, Virginia Backyard

  • from Washington (District of Columbia, United States)

Michelle’s Elegant Blue Sapphire Engagement Ring Shining Above Ground Once More!

A Very Happy and Relieved Bride-To-Be Holding Her Most Precious Jewel!

BRIAN RUDOLPH, LOST ITEM RECOVERY SPECIALIST (LAND, WATER, SAND, HOUSES & VEHICLES) WILL FIND YOUR LOST KEEPSAKE! CALL ASAP (301) 466-8644!

A young lady named Michelle called me in a state of desperation, asking for help in finding her platinum, 3/4 carat blue sapphire engagement ring. It had gone missing the day before and the bride-to-be was devastated in not knowing where to turn or what to do about the situation. After many calls were made to businesses where she may have lost her ring, Michelle googled “metal detector rentals” in the Burke Virginia area. The first listing was for THE RING FINDERS, an international metal detectorist directory. Her only mistake made in this whole story is that Michelle didn’t click and contact THE RING FINDERS first! Instead, she decided to select the next listing which advertised metal detectors for rent. It wasn’t until the young lady and her concerned father failed to recover the most sentimental piece of property in Michelle’s life that she finally returned to THE RING FINDER’S online website to locate a local metal detectorist near to her.

The moment that Michelle began to share her story with me, I recognized that she had the best attitude under the circumstances of what she was dealing with. Michelle and her fiancé Tim were greatly looking forward to tying the knot on May 15th of 2020, and the thought of not wearing her engagement ring on the most special day of their lives was just devastating (Note: Sadly, little did Michelle know that due to the Covid-19 pandemic which erupted just a week later, the couple would have to postpone their wedding to a future date). And yet, as upset as Michelle was, she maintained a certain positive mindset and was hopeful that her phone call to me would prove to be the wisest decision she could make since none of her other ideas brought back her sentimental keepsake. Calling her fiancé in Great Britain where Tim had been currently working at the time was one of the most difficult moments for Michelle when she shared the sad news that her ring had disappeared. As it got closer and closer to the “big day”, there were more details being checked off the enormous wedding to-do list and this was clearly a step in the wrong direction! The bride had looked forward to soon gazing at her beautiful gem as she would embrace her future spouse upon Tim’s arrival home from England in preparation for their spring wedding. That dream of wearing her engagement ring for Tim was now in jeopardy of ever happening.

THE BACKSTORY

Here are the details that Michelle shared with me about what she was doing prior to the disappearance of the ring. Michelle and her best friend Jenny spent the afternoon together. The bride drove over to her friend’s house and they first took Jenny’s car to the local Best Buy for some quick shopping. Next, they headed over to the shopping mall where they had lunch at Popeye’s restaurant and then stopped over at Sephora to try on some makeup samples for the wedding day. They finished their task and then walked to the other side of the parking lot where Jenny’s car was parked. Finally, they drove back to Michelle’s best friend’s house where they hung out in Jenny’s room and inside the kitchen area.

Up to this point the excited bride-to-be wasn’t consciously aware of whether or precious ring was still on her finger at that time or not. It wasn’t until a couple of hours later, after Michelle arrived back to her own neighborhood that she realized the ring was gone. Once she pulled into her driveway, she walked up the front path, entered the house and immediately placed the dog harness on her sweet canine named Penny. They proceeded to take a long walk down the street and back to her residence. Then, they went along the left side of the house towards the 2.5 acre back yard where she allowed Penny to play in her dog pen as she talked on the phone with a friend and then made a call to her fiancé Tim. Because the young lady was focused on her conversations with her husband-to-be on the phone, as well as with her girlfriend while walking Penny earlier that afternoon, her mind and eyes would not have been focused on whether or not her ring was still on her finger. After a while, the two continued their walk around the property to the front yard where Michelle took the dog to the end of the block, and then back to the house where they finally ended their long trek for the day. Once she brought Penny inside for her feeding time, she looked down at her hand and was shocked to discover that her beloved blue sapphire engagement ring was gone!

The distraught young lady immediately contacted Best Buy, Popeye’s, Sephora and the mall security to see if they could check their video footage to verify whether or not Michelle was wearing her engagement ring as she walked out of any of those stores. Out of all three retail places, Best Buy was the only one that was able to confirm that Michelle did in fact have the ring on her finger when she walked out to Jenny’s car! This helped a little bit by cutting out the electronics store, but there was a lot of territory that was left to be in question. Of course, nothing was turned in at the mall security office or at any of the places where the ladies stopped at inside the shopping mall.

The next thing that Michelle did was contact a local hardware store that advertised metal detector rentals online. She and her father took the Garrett Ace 150 and took turns swinging the machine all over their multiple acre estate, scanning a long side the road up and down the block and then back towards home again. While pulling up random pieces of iron and insignificant metal objects, Michelle felt so frustrated with herself that she just couldn’t remember when she had it on her hand last! After hours of searching, Michelle and her dad still didn’t give up and they continued to methodically cover the bride’s tracks from the front door, all around the front steps area, up and down the street, along the side of her house towards the backyard, walking in the direction of the dog pen and all across the lawn to the other side. They detected every spot where Michelle remembered walking so that they didn’t miss a section of that lawn. Finally, the father and daughter duo finished scanning the grass on the right side yard of the house and then covered the front as the search came to a conclusion. By the time they were done searching, complete exhaustion and disappointment set in. It was at this page in the story when I, Brian Rudolph, of THE RING FINDERS was contacted with the hope that I could finally bring resolution to this very troubling mystery!

THE SEARCH

The Night Search – Day 1

I arrived at Michelle’s Burke, Virginia neighborhood sometime around 6pm later the same day when she called me in the morning hours. Earlier on the phone, the bride-to-be shared that she still wanted to personally do some more metal detecting around the property before finally calling it quits. So we agreed that if she still had no luck, I would come out later that day and get a new search started. Frankly, it was a lot of ground to cover and there was no way of knowing whether the ring had even fallen off her finger near her home or someplace else. Knowing that the priceless jewel had already been slightly loose on Michelle’s hand and that there were so many possibilities as to where it could have ended up, I had to keep my mind focused and remain confident that I wasn’t wasting my efforts as I searched around her property, as well as detecting up and down the street. That always plays a “mind factor” when there are just so many loose ends to a mystery case.

Upon asking Michelle additional questions, her first thought was that she must have lost it somewhere in the yard. However, doubt set in because she began to think of all of the places that she had visited throughout the day (other than Best Buy) and realized that the ring could have come off anywhere since she didn’t remember the last time she saw it on her finger.

The other side of the coin was that because the weight of the platinum ring was quite recognizable, Michelle believed that she would have realized that the ring had been missing earlier when she was hanging out with Jenny. So, she had a feeling that the ring could have been lost along the front walkway, somewhere in the neighborhood along the street, or possibly lost in her yard. One thing was for sure, Michelle and her father felt that they had done a fine enough job of metal detecting all of these “hot spots”, yet there were no positive results to prove their claim.

Once I introduced myself to Michelle and her friend Jenny who was over at the house, as well, Michelle showed me around the property and got me oriented in terms of all of her movements from beginning to end. She even took me back to the laundry room where she fed her dog Penny when she first realized that the ring was missing. I checked her blue hoody sweatshirt pockets with my handheld metal detector, and then searched the foyer area of the house before starting to metal detect along her front steps and around the bushes. The most important thing that we did was to pray and ask the Lord for help in recovering Michelle’s most priceless possession. I told her that God loves marriage because he instituted the whole concept of marriage and the engagement ring acts as a symbol of commitment which God ordained from the beginning of time between man and woman.

Next, I metal detected a pile of dog poop bags near the garage just in case the ring ended up in one of them during a “pickup “. I continued my night search all along the side yard, moving slowly towards the backyard and around to the other side. I only had about 2.5 hours to look for the jewel so I did not do a consistent grid search, but rather a quick scan by zigzagging the metal detector with the hopes that I might hit the target as I moved quickly to cover as much territory as possible. There were various target signals that hit my detector but none of the metal appeared to be above ground.

I finished the quick scan around the perimeter of the house including the section of the yard where the dog pen fence had once been set in place and where Michelle had been hanging out with the dog the day before. Still nothing turned up. I then walked along the street all the way to the end of the block and then moved my way back around on the opposite side of the road and went all the way to the other end of the court. By the time I backtracked to the house, I had just enough time left to inspect Jenny’s car and then Michelle’s vehicle as soon as her parents arrived back home from the airport. Using a high lumens headlamp and my highly effective endoscope which can show me hidden details within cracks and crevices in vehicles and in houses, I concluded that Michelle’s ring never ended up in either vehicle. Still curious if I had missed anything, I quickly rechecked some of the side yard to the left of the house once more. Nothing turned up where the grass met the driveway and where it sloped down towards the tree line. It was at that point that I needed to turn my equipment off, pack my things up and say good night to Michelle.

Before leaving Michelle’s house, I summarized all of what I had accomplished that evening and I was quite encouraged that I covered quite a bit of ground even though I did not discover the ring. Michelle was equally positive and kept thanking me, expressing how much she appreciated my help. I gave her some homework assignments to take care of for the next three days before I would be able to return that coming Sunday to resume the search. I told her that I was hoping that she would find the ring before having to see me again. I also shared with the bride that I would continue to pray for the discovery of this “symbol of love” between her and Tim until I was scheduled to return three days later. Michelle agreed that she would take my advice and place flyers in everyone’s mailboxes in the neighborhood, as well as post an ad on Craigslist just in case somebody found the ring at the local mall. Though she would have to return the metal detector, Michelle would keep her eyes open and continue to scan both sides of the street to see if she might eyeball the ring. She would also check her yard again including the house living room which I did not inspect up to that point. Michelle would also check in with the mall security, Popeye’s and Sephora to see if anybody turned the ring in. Once we covered all of our bases, I left her place and encouraged her to stay strong and believe for a miracle.

The Day Search – Day 2

Three days after my initial search, I returned to Michelle’s place on a beautiful but very cold Sunday morning. I gave myself a search window of 3.5 hours of metal detecting around Michelle’s property. My goal was to grid as much territory as possible and this time I would swing the detector with very fine gridlines as opposed to the zigzag pattern that I did before due to my limitations on time the other night.

Though I had already searched the street, I thought it would be best for Michelle to take me on a walk towards the end of the court where the street dead ends in order for me to get an exact foot movement as to where she walked about with Penny four days earlier. We also prayed again and asked the Lord for help in recovering Michelle’s beautiful ring (calling on the Name of the Lord for wisdom and guidance is the most important detail in all of my searches).

When we returned from my orientation down the street, I asked Michelle to take me to the backyard and she once again walked me through some of her steps when she was walking the dog that afternoon of the disappearance of her ring. Everything checked out to be the same account as before but with one exception. When I asked her again if she had walked anywhere in the center of the backyard, she did mention that she had walked from the far back of the lawn over to the dog pen. This meant that she had in fact crossed into the center of the yard and walk towards the entrance of the dog’s pen gate to allow Penny to move about inside the fence line. I would remember this important piece of information later in my search that morning.

While Michelle relaxed in her house with her parents, I started metal detecting up and down the street, focusing on the exact areas where Michelle had guided me earlier. Everything checked out clear. Then, I returned back to her estate and began grid searching all along the side property heading in the direction of the backyard. Nothing checked out along the line of pine trees that separated Michelle’s place from her neighbor’s property. I kept moving my way towards the backyard all along the perimeter of where she had previously walked. It was at that point that I utilized that very important information that Michelle shared with me earlier when she mentioned that she cut across the middle of the yard over towards the dog pen. I continued metal detecting in that same direction.

It was extremely bitter cold outside and at some point the very thoughtful bride-to-be came out to check on me. She kindly offered an inviting cup of hot chocolate which I gratefully welcomed!

While the kettle was being heated up, so did my search as I moved closer and closer across the center of the multi-acre lawn towards the pen area (in the same direction of where Michelle and Penny walked to the pen’s entrance). Though I had previously covered the parameter of where the fence was set up initially on my last visit, I had not metal detected closer to the center of the backyard heading towards the dog pen’s gate from that center spot. This was definitely a small strip of new territory for me to investigate.

Just as I was approximately 10 feet or so to the left of where the dog pen gate entrance would have been set up, I hit a very promising target signal. Though I had already encountered multiple target signals that appeared to be quite shallow or on top of the ground, nothing turned up to be Michelle’s ring. This particular target signal had a certain bounce to it and a certain tone that was in the range of what I was looking for. I was quite excited as to the possibilities of what this piece of metal could turn out to be. I knelt down in the grass, took out my pinpointer (a handheld metal detector) and zeroed in on exactly where the target was hiding. Just as I started rummaging through some blades of grass to finally catch the stubborn little piece of metal, my eyes excitedly became fixated on a circular shaped object that was silver in appearance! Then, I saw the color blue at the very tip of this spectacular looking halo! I found it! I found Michelle’s lost ring! I was just as excited as I was surprised at the fact that I found it in such a short period of time in the location of where I was searching! I probably had been outside in the backyard for less than 30 minutes or so before bringing this difficult search to a close!

The ring could have fallen anywhere in the neighborhood or it could have ended up in somebody else’s pocket had the jewel not stayed on Michelle’s finger long enough to return back to the property after doing her afternoon errands! I could have been out there searching just about anywhere for the next several hours or even possibly days on end all to conclude that it was nowhere to be found! And yet I discovered the engagement ring before having to go through countless hours of detecting in the freezing cold! I was overwhelmed with gratitude unto the Lord for what I was able to recover for this concerned young lady! I couldn’t wait to reveal what I had found!

At some point soon after I found the ring, Michelle came out with the hot chocolate. It was absolutely delicious! In the moments that were to follow, the surprise that I revealed to the bride turned out to be even sweeter and more memorable than even that amazing cup of hot chocolate which Michelle had graciously made for me! Her reaction to what I recovered for her was completely off the charts! Her parents were also beyond blown away with excitement and were frankly in a state of awe as to what I was able to accomplish that morning! In the foyer of their lovely home, Michelle, her parents and I all celebrated together this fantastic return of their daughter’s most beautiful blue sapphire engagement ring! Tim was contacted soon after our party came to close and he was so very relieved that the ring was found! He also expressed his deep appreciation for my successful efforts and asked Michelle to convey his many words of thanks for recovering the priceless keepsake!

I was so proud to know that what no one else was able to find, I had discovered the beloved bridal betrothal piece and brought it back to Michelle’s finger that morning! Yes, now that it was successfully found, that special sentimental treasure would excitedly count the days when it would happily welcome its new counterpart…yes indeed, Michelle’s long awaited wedding band!

BRIAN RUDOLPH, LOST ITEM RECOVERY SPECIALIST (LAND, WATER, SAND, HOUSES & VEHICLES) WILL FIND YOUR LOST KEEPSAKE! CALL ASAP (301) 466-8644!

I will never forget the afternoon of December 30th, 2019 when I received a phone call from a young lady who was very upset about the loss of her 2.5 carat diamond solitaire engagement ring that had gone missing on Christmas Eve, six days prior. Evelyn found my contact information through THE RING FINDERS directory after googling “how to find a lost ring in a car”. She sounded extremely upset while declaring to me that I was her last hope with this final attempt to recover her most precious material possession, presumably lost in her Cadillac Escalade SUV. I listened to Evelyn as she shared what happened on that dreadful Christmas Eve when her ring suddenly went missing.

THE BACKSTORY

Evelyn, her husband Walter, and their little 2 year old daughter Camilla were starting to head home from Walter’s sister’s Christmas Eve party when Evelyn realized that her 18 karat white gold, 2.5 carat diamond engagement ring slipped off her finger as she was twirling it in the back seat. As soon as she felt the ring drop, she said, “Oh my gosh, my ring…” Then, she immediately looked down towards the carpet, assuming that she would spot the gem. However, it was nowhere in sight. In a state of panic, the worried wife exclaimed, “Oh my God, I lost my ring!” While Walter was driving their Escalade, Evelyn was sitting directly behind his driver’s seat and their daughter was securely fastened in her car seat over to the far right side. The two of them were separated by a middle seat section. Though Evelyn enjoyed a few drinks during the celebration with family and friends that night, she confidently remembered the ring being on her finger in the vehicle. The young lady was certain that the beloved keepsake slid off her finger while leaning forward towards her husband in order to share something with him just as they were leaving the parking lot of Walter’s sister’s house. Evelyn begged Walter to turn their Cadillac around and head back to the parking lot so they could search the vehicle. Walter figured that if his wife was so convinced that she lost the ring in the SUV, they could do the search upon arriving back at their place. So, that is exactly what took place next. They arrived back at their condominium and the couple did a thorough investigation during that cold holiday evening assuming they would find the missing ring.

Once their SUV was parked, Walter started searching everywhere in the vehicle. While he was looking under the front seats, Evelyn was crouched down in the back, searching on her hands and knees in front of the rear seats. With the bright phone light shining, Evelyn’s husband methodically searched in every crevice and every corner of the Escalade. She too used her phone light to illuminate the black plush carpet interior. Together, they checked their girl’s car seat thoroughly, but still no ring appeared. The last place that they needed to search was under and inside the rear seats where Evelyn and their daughter were fastened during their ride home. Unfortunately, the huge diamond keepsake was nowhere to be found. Sadly, all of their efforts led to no avail!

At this point, the couple felt it best to return to Walter’s sister’s place and check the parking lot and along the sidewalk leading from her sister-in-law’s front door all the way to where their Cadillac was previously parked. By now it was extremely late at night, or should I say, very early Christmas morning! It was cold and moods began to swing from happy holiday spirits to frustration, confusion and even suspicion.

When nothing turned up outside, it was time to start looking inside. I can only imagine how difficult it must have been to knock on their sister’s door requesting to take their investigation inside the house where the party was still going on. They explained to their relatives and friends that perhaps there was a chance that the ring had fallen between the sofa cushions or slipped off into the garbage at some point during the evening. Walter and Evelyn’s biggest concern was that the ring ended up in somebody’s pocket. They were thinking that perhaps someone found the ring on the floor or on the sofa, and then the temptation came to steal it rather than to turn it in. They truly didn’t want to believe that this was a case of theft, but it certainly was a natural thought that anybody would have had. This worry was justified based on the fact that there were people at the party that they didn’t know and others that were not close to them. Obviously, they couldn’t come out and say anything to anybody, but it was certainly on their minds.

Prior to Walter and Evelyn returning to the party to check out their relative’s place, they had called over there to give the update about the missing ring. The guests took inventory of the house, and of course, nothing turned up prior to the couple’s arrival. The same results were concluded after Evelyn and Walter thoroughly searched inside. Then, reluctantly, they continued to look some more outside with their phone lights blazing in the wintry cold conditions and still nothing turned up. It was at this stage in the drama that they realized that they needed to get their daughter Camilla back to her own bed and call it quits for the night.

After the parents arrived back home, they tucked their child into bed and then continued their searched inside the Escalade one more time. The two of them were still bewildered as to what could have possibly happened to Evelyn’s most precious material possession. She was so very upset and could not stop testifying to the fact that she knew without a doubt that she saw the ring slip off her finger and fall towards the carpet. Walter just shook his head with disbelief because the “betrothal keepsake” was obviously not on the floor or anywhere else for that matter. Evelyn’s husband didn’t know what to think or what to do next. He tried not to believe that his wife had imagined the whole thing up, but his train of thought was heading more in that direction!

Evelyn could not shake off her conviction of what she remembered taking place in the Cadillac that night. She was so upset that she kept crying over and over again because of how helpless she felt in not being able to recover the engagement ring that she loved so very much. The jewel represented all of their memories made that led up to Walter popping the question at that very special spot where he chose to ask Evelyn to marry him.

Later that Christmas morning, Walter got his winter jacket on and headed out to the vehicle to re-inspect every corner and crevice of the SUV all over again. He knew that he would not get any rest until his wife found peace that her jewel was back on her finger. What was the conclusion of his next desperate search attempt? Once again, he found absolutely nothing! Then, Evelyn went out with their little girl and searched the Escalade some more and yet she too came away with the same disappointing feeling. It was one of the most special days of the year, and unfortunately Evelyn just could not enjoy herself knowing that her priceless engagement ring was gone! She kept thinking that she would never see the beautiful jewel ever again! Tears fell from her eyes throughout the Christmas celebration. Though gifts were exchanged between family members, nothing else mattered to Evelyn other than claiming her precious ring back! Sadly, her greatest present that she wished for was not in a jewelry box waiting for her to open under the Christmas tree.

In the days that followed, the couple continued to search. Evelyn was so distraught about the whole situation with the ring that she wouldn’t allow herself to enjoy thinking about all of the happy holiday memories made on Christmas. At some point, their desperate state left them with no other choice but to pay $500 to a Cadillac service mechanic who came to their residence to remove all of the front and rear seats from their SUV! They wanted to make certain, once and for all, that the ring was not in the vehicle. This would put aside any doubts as to whether Evelyn was mistaken or not about what she recounted happening that night.

After the Cadillac service specialist spent the next couple of hours pulling out the Escalade seats and inspecting all of the mechanical parts underneath them (checking to see if the ring got trapped somewhere in the guts of all its hardware), it was concluded that the beloved keepsake was not inside or under any of the vehicle’s luxury seats. The specialist spent a tremendous amount of time working on the vehicle, taking all of the components out and having to then attach and reconnect all of the electrical and mechanical pieces back together again. The verdict was finally out: the jewel was simply not in the Escalade! Walter looked at his wife and asked, “Are you finally satisfied that your ring is not in there?” She shook her head in disbelief, finding it extremely difficult to admit that perhaps she imagined everything regarding the ring falling off her finger in the Cadillac on Christmas Eve. She really started thinking that she was losing it mentally because she truly believed what she remembered happening in the backseat on that wintry Christmas Eve night several days earlier.

For the next week, there wasn’t a moment when Evelyn wasn’t expressing her grief and bewilderment to Walter, especially after each and every time that she finished searching the Escalade again and again. Since Walter had resolved within him that there was nothing left to do in searching for the ring, it was left up to Evelyn to come up with a new plan of action. In her state of desperation, she decided to google the question “how to find a lost ring in a car”. THE RING FINDERS metal detectorist directory popped up and she read a bunch of testimonials on Brian Rudolph, a metal detecting service specialist who serves the Gaithersburg Maryland area. She read that I not only metal detect on lawns, beaches and water, but I also find rings and other jewelry in houses and inside vehicles. After learning about what I do and how successful I have been in the past couple years with recovering people’s lost property, Evelyn found a renewal of hope in calling me to see if I could help her solve this bizarre mystery!

THE SEARCH

The moment that I picked up the phone to talk with Evelyn, I knew that I was about to step into a very complicated search scenario. I could hear the utter desperation in Evelyn’s voice as she shared all of the details about her many search attempts (including the hiring of the Cadillac mechanic specialist who pulled all the seats out of her SUV). I was convinced that we were going to need a true miracle to take place!

Evelyn said to me, “Brian, you are my last hope in getting my ring back”. I responded by telling her that I was absolutely excited to conduct a search for her and that I would believe that the Lord would favor me in this hunt for the missing sentimental jewel! I went on to share that since they had already paid much money for a professional to remove the Cadillac interior, most would believe that the odds were stacked up against me in recovering the ring. But I told Evelyn that God always defeats the odds when He is on our side! Evelyn then reiterated what she said a moment or two earlier by repeating, “I knew that you were the one that I needed to call when I saw your information online. I knew it! I just have this feeling that you were sent by God to me to find my ring!” I didn’t know how much of her statement was pure faith in the Lord working through me or that she was just trying to conjure up some “fumes of hope” left over from all of her previous disappointments. Regardless, I was just thrilled to be a part of this search and I invited the Lord into this situation by leading her in prayer that God would successfully recover this ring (whether it was still in the vehicle or buried in the grass outside of her sister-in-law’s house). She agreed with me in that prayer and professed that she too would trust the Lord and give glory to Him through this recovery that we hoped He would help us with. At the end of our discussion, we scheduled a time for me to come out to conduct the search in her Escalade later that evening.

Sometime that night, I arrived inside the couple’s Gaithersburg, Maryland condominium complex garage where we would do the in-vehicle search. The family met me near their Cadillac SUV and I went over some preliminary details, including recounting the lost ring story from start to finish just so I had a clear perspective coming from Evelyn and gaining her husband’s personal recollection of what took place 6 days earlier. As I interviewed Walter, it was clear that he was not able to find any hope to believe that there would be any other outcome other than what he had already experienced for the past week since Christmas Eve. This made me even more passionate about wanting to prove the young man wrong and in the end give glory to my God for leading me to Evelyn’s lost ring!

Rudolph’s Endoscope Utilized to Discover Evelyn’s Ring

Once I finished the interviewing process, the four of us prayed and then made our way over to the Cadillac which was parked nearby to where we were all standing. Because all of the seats had already been pulled out and then placed back in the vehicle, which led to no avail, my game plan was to start in the far rear compartment area. First, I metal detected Camilla’s blanket which happened to be lying near Evelyn when she realized that her ring was gone. No metal was picked up on the fabric. I then searched on top of the far rear carpet and in every open space available to me. When I didn’t find the keepsake there, I searched in the spare tire compartment (below the trunk carpet) and pulled the tire out so I had more exposed areas to investigate. I did this just in case the ring somehow slipped under the carpet and down into that section of the vehicle. During this phase of the search, I used my video endoscope to search every crack and crevice. An endoscope is a device that helps one look into hidden places where the human eye cannot view. It’s got a long snake-like cable with a lens and LED lights at the end of it. The endoscope uses Bluetooth technology in order to send a live wireless video signal to a smartphone to be able to view what the lens is picking up. The tire compartment turned out to be clean of any ring, so I then inspected Camilla’s stroller. Again, I used my endoscope in and around all of the fabric and foam that was lined in the child’s “4 wheeler” but nothing of importance was discovered in there, as well. Next, I repeated this same methodology with the child’s safety seat that was fastened on top of the right rear passenger cushion. Still, it turned out to be another area that was checked out to be clear of any jewelry in the Escalade.

It was now time to search the rear passenger section of the vehicle. As with the investigation that I had just completed in the far rear hatch area, I used my endoscope once again to search for any signs of a diamond ring in and around the rear seats. With the device, I was able to view every angle and each spot that the camera lens focused on. As I positioned the end of the endoscope into the crack or crevice that I wanted to investigate, I could watch its movements and hoped that the target I was hunting for would come into frame. The first place that I began to position the endoscope was inside the space between the back rest of the left passenger seat and its bottom cushion. It is common for small objects to fall into the gaps where the two parts of the seat intersect. So, I started at the corner of the left rear passenger seat and moved towards the center and then towards the right rear passenger seat. Slowly and carefully, I maneuvered the video snake down inside the crevices of the leather interior and observed any signs of a ring that may have gotten stuck somewhere down below into the seat’s abyss.

Inch by inch, I worked the endoscope inside the back of the seat, trolling along and capturing as much territory as possible with the video lens. I always push the snake down as far as it can travel and search as much territory as I can before I bring it back up and then push it back down again to search more adjacent areas. There were a couple of objects down inside the machinery of the seat that resembled a ring-like shape. They were both silver in color and texture, but there wasn’t enough evidence to continue checking those two targets out. I resolved to remove the endoscope from the back of the cushion and begin searching from underneath that right rear seat and move my way up into the machinery starting from the floor first.

By the time I started to search for the engagement ring from under the right rear passenger seat, I may have spent approximately 15 or 20 minutes into my investigation. I planned that if everything would check out clear on the right side, I would move to the center area and then continue to the left seat. With the endoscope snake in hand, I extended the wire as far back under the seat as it could possibly travel and I searched everything along the floor interior. I diligently looked for gaps and cutouts where the ring may have slipped into the flooring and down under the carpet. The whole time that I was searching for Evelyn’s beautiful momento, opposing thoughts constantly bombarded my mind. They whispered negative words that this whole operation was just a big waste of time. However, like in every search, especially something of this magnitude, I push against those doubts and determine to do everything possible to recover the missing item and to not give up under any circumstances. Not even if the odds were stacked against me like in this particular case. I continue to stand on God’s promises that He answers the prayers of those who seek Him diligently and believe that He is able to do all things! So, I kept checking my smartphone screen, hoping to see something that would resemble the shape of a silver halo. Once again, even after I placed the endoscope up into the seat from under its belly, I could not find any potential targets to investigate further. It was time to take my search to the middle seat section.

My search strategy for checking out the Escalade’s rear center passenger seat was identical to how I conducted the far left rear passenger side. I placed my “spy device” inside the tight gap located between the bottom cushion and the back rest seat portion. Moving the snake down into the mechanical hardware, I viewed my screen, hoping that the lens would spot the target that I was diligently searching for. Again, there were a couple of questionable objects that somewhat looked like a diamond ring, but they just ended up being a nut and a thick washer. At the point where I finished searching the internal parts of the center seat from the top side, I took my gear (which included my high lumens headlamp) and placed it all back down on the carpet so I could begin searching from under the seat towards the back center area.

The whole time that I was conducting my search, Walter was observing what I was doing outside of the Cadillac on the right side of the vehicle. Evelyn was tending to her little girl in the rear of the SUV. The sad and bewildered young lady was on the phone with a friend and perhaps with her own mother, as well. As time marched on, I noticed that Evelyn was much more subdued than before and during the whole time Walter was consistently emotionally “flatlining” (because he really didn’t think there were any miracles left to be discovered since they began searching for their beloved ring). I kept giving him the play-by-play as to what I was doing and where I was searching next. Walter could see everything as I maneuvered the video wire far back and up into the middle seat components. I made sure that I placed the snake into every corner and crevice where the electronic eye could travel, so as to not miss a single possibility as to where the jewel may have ended up.

Again, I continued to fight those doubts again because I had passed the halfway mark in the rear of the Escalade and it was most unlikely that the ring had ended up somewhere in the front section of the vehicle. I just kept telling myself that all things are possible for he who believes that the Lord can do anything (Jesus said so in Mark 9:23). I didn’t give up and I just kept searching relentlessly.

Endoscope Capturing the First Glimpse of the Missing Engagement Ring!

Finally, as I continued to move the endoscope cable all around the back of the seat’s undercarriage, I picked up an image on the smartphone screen that unmistakably resembled a lady’s solitaire diamond engagement ring! I definitely could make out the “halo-shaped” object perfectly and then without question, my eyes focused in on the largest diamond that was hanging off a most spectacular circular piece of metal – 18 karat white gold! My heart started racing as I fixed the positioning of the camera so that I could see the target a bit more clearly. I have to admit that I was in my own personal state of shock! It’s rare enough just to recover lost property as small as a ring inside someone’s vehicle, but even more unlikely to find the object after a professional mechanic pulls all of the seats out and still finds nothing! What an incredible site that my eyes had beheld! I made my news update known to Walter who had been talking in the background and had looked away temporarily. That guy lit up like the Christmas tree in his home and he expressed that he couldn’t believe what I was telling him! He crunched into the vehicle to look at the screen and there was that amazing vision of beauty once again! There was no doubt that it was in fact Evelyn’s gorgeous engagement ring! I discovered it lying on the carpet all the way to the back of the middle rear seat! It was so far to the rear that without the endoscope there would have been no way to have located it.

Endoscope Capturing the Second Look of the Gorgeous Ring!

Endoscope Capturing the Third Image of the Lost Sentimental Keepsake!

Upon finding the ring in the particular location where the scope picked it up, I was convinced that the jewel had slipped off of Evelyn’s finger on Christmas Eve (just as she described) and landed on top of Camilla’s blanket that was near Evelyn’s feet at the time that she had first settled inside the vehicle. After the ring  fell, she picked the blanket up and shook it, hoping to locate the runaway gem at the time. However, unbeknownst to Evelyn, the ring must have freed itself from the blanket and flew to the back of the middle seat, rolling down into the gap where the bottom cushion and the back rest intersected. Then, when the couple searched the rear passenger area, they must have missed seeing the ring and accidentally pushed the sentimental piece down farther into the gap of the middle section, causing the ring to disappear below. It then somehow got caught somewhere inside the hardware of the seat. No one, not even the Cadillac mechanic could spot the ring that was lodged inside the internal parts of the undercarriage. It was probably wedged quite firmly and deep into that seat when it was originally inspected. I was convinced that when I put the endoscope down into the internal components below the middle seat cushion, I somehow dislodged the ring from the location where it was caught, causing it to fall to the carpet in the very back of that middle section! This had to have been what happened because after they pulled the seats out initially, there was no way that they would have missed seeing the ring if had been resting on the carpet the whole time! It would have been easily seen when the mechanic pulled out the rear seats!

At this stage of the story, I am quite confident that the reader of this article will not find it very difficult to imagine how Walter’s bride responded when she heard the unbelievable news that I had found her gorgeous keepsake! She went bananas! Evelyn started screaming and hugging her husband and then looking over my shoulder at the gorgeous diamond ring that had been presumed to be permanently MISSING IN ACTION by everyone else! She stared at the screen as I showed her what we were about to pull out from the vehicle! That’s when Evelyn insisted on taking her own video of this incredible discovery! So many exciting words began to fly out of her mouth! The young bride was just beyond excited and beyond relieved all at the same time! Evelyn couldn’t help but express that my successful search and recovery of her most precious gem completely vindicated her story that the engagement ring had never left the vehicle and that she did in fact see it drop somewhere in the car! Walter had no choice but to sheepishly concede.

Walter Gets Down on One Knee to Present His Wife With Her Precious Engagement Ring!

Both the husband and wife were hugging me over and over again, thanking me for what I was able to recover for them! I will never forget how Evelyn was running around the vehicle freaking out with so much excitement and jubilation! I asked Walter at that moment if he would like to do the honors and pull the ring from its hiding place in the far back area where it was waiting to return back to his princess’ finger! With a huge smile on his face he said he was totally up for it! I then exchanged spots with him on the floor where we were initially crouched down and I gave some more room for the elated man. He stretched his right arm out as far as it could reach towards the deep back area under the middle seat. Within seconds, Evelyn and I could see Walter’s hand coming out from beneath the seat with the largest and most beautiful and elegant diamond ring! The woman that he was so in love with began to cry as she was presented with the sentimental keepsake which she thought would never be placed on her finger ever again! The couple gave each other the most loving embrace that one could ever experience! Their living nightmare that had lasted for nearly a week was now finally over!

For the next hour, all of us celebrated the recovery of Evelyn’s lost engagement ring! We gathered together and devoted some time to thank the Lord who helped me and guided me to the jewel during the entire search and recovery process! It was an unbelievable event and one that I will never forget for the rest of my life! Thank You Lord for including me in such a special story! I am just as grateful as Evelyn turned out to be…all because she reached out to take ahold of her “last hope” – oh no, that beacon wasn’t me…it was God that took her call for help! And indeed, He surely did deliver! I was just happy that I was there to assist!

SeattleRingHunter Lost Item Recovery Specialist LAND & SCUBA Call ASAP 206-618-8194

Julie called and explained that she had been golfing with a lot of friends just a few weeks prior when she lost three precious wedding rings. She ask me if I would be willing to assist them as they were lost at Desert Canyon Golf Resort near Chelan, WA three hours over the mountain pass. She went further to explain that they no longer live in Washington state and had already planned a return visit to the Seattle area and had set aside one day to make the three hour drive to the golf course to look. She said they were planning on getting some metal detectors and seeing what they could do when a friend suggested they go online and find a metal detecting recovery specialist. A quick search online directed them to TheRingFinders where she found my offering of service for the Pacific North West Washington area.

She went on to explain that she had played a full eighteen holes of golf on that Saturday and Sunday. I asked for more details and learned that just prior to playing on Saturday she took both rings off. She placed them in one of the pockets of her golf pullover windbreaker and zipped it up thinking that would keep them secure. Well unfortunately after nineteen holes of golf when she went to retrieve her precious wedding rings they were gone. The pocket was still zipped up and her pullover was with her the whole time. She had lost a very precious wedding set consisting of her yellow gold diamond wedding band soldered to her yellow gold wedding band that had been custom made in a matching design of her husbands wedding ring. A second white gold wedding band with seven channel set diamonds that was given to her on her 20th wedding anniversary was also lost.

She told me she had found a small hole in the seam of the pocket that allowed both rings to slip to the inside lining of the jacket. At this point I began asking myself where do we even start searching if these rings just fell out of her clothing anywhere along the golf course. She went on to explain that the inside lining was not stitched at the top edge so it was like a bigger internal pocket. Her idea was that the rings most likely spilled out when she was taking the pullover on and off several times while playing nineteen holes of golf. She remembered only taking the pullover off near her golf cart. However exact details of where these actions took place were not so clear as she had played that course two days consecutively and detailed memories started to blur together.

She confirmed she had already made arrangements with the Desert Canyon Golf Resort management and they welcomed her to come back to search the course for her lost rings. She explained that her and her husband, Keith, already had travel plans set to arrive in Seattle on a Wednesday night and were planning to drive out to the golf course that next Thursday morning irregardless of anything else.

It didn’t take long for me to be fully on board to support this mission. I explained to her that Thursday was wide open in my schedule and not to worry about getting additional metal detectors. I explained to her this would be a very challenging search due to the large distance traveled over nineteen holes of golf and not having witnessed the area where the rings were lost. I told her not to worry as I would bring some additional metal detectors for her and Keith to use. Knowing what a large search area we had the more machines the better especially as this site was at distance over the mountain pass it would be more challenging for a revisit so I knew we had to take every advantage of this opportunity.

As planned each of us made the three hour drive over the mountain pass for an early tee time only today we would be swinging metal detectors not clubs. The Desert Canyon staff and local community was amazing. Everyone had been actively searching for the lost wedding rings for the past nineteen days yet to no avail.  Our first order of business was heading directly into the pro shop to speak with Rob the manager. It was at this point I learned that one of Julie’s friends had taken several photos of the group throughout that day of golf. Julie had Rob review the photos as she took notes as he did his best to identify what holes were associated with each photo. When he finished reviewing the photos he slid two golf cart keys across the counter and wished us the best.

The weather was typical for Eastern Washington at this time of the year. It was cold and windy but the Lord blessed us by holding back the rain and frost so there was no delays in getting started with the search. I allowed Julie and Keith to lead the way as she best knew key areas of the course where she may have taken the pullover off or put it back on. Still there was not definite spots leaving a lot of unknown possibilities over such an expansive search area involving a lot of active movements while playing golf! Never the less we pressed on starting our search on the front nine holes. After completing the front nine and still no rings we took a lunch break to warm up and refuel. Our search continued on with the back nine as the wind started to pickup and the temperature started to drop. As with many long searches even experienced recovery specialist like myself need to push back the doubt and remain in the game to the very end. Around hole five I began to wonder where these rings were hiding knowing that only a few more holes remained and our search would soon be over.

After four hours of actively searching we reached the 6th hole and with in just a few minutes I had a strong target with excellent numbers on my metal detector. As I started to work the ground with my pin-pointer Keith strutted to get excited as this was the only hole from the set of photos that showed her wearing the pullover at the tee box and no jacket on the green. This meant that Julie absolutely took her pullover off somewhere on this hole. As I worked the ground I pulled her yellow gold wedding set from the thick luscious grass and asked how would you like to have this back. At this point all three of us erupt with excitement and disbelief. Julie is overcome with emotion and so very happy to have her wedding rings back. At this point we all took a few steps back as I continued to work the area for her white gold 20th anniversary ring. Within a minute I pulled her second ring from the thick grass to everyones surprise.

Of all the holes she lost her rings on Desert Canyon’s Signature Hole 6. All who visit this hole are blessed with a breath taking view of thick green golf course grass contrasted with the dried out stubble of the rolling hills sides with the Columbia River below and silver lined cloudy skies above. This beautiful creation in nature is an absolute testimony of how God’s hand prepared a path for us free of obstacles allowing us to experience a successful recovery. These rings representing twenty-five years of marriage, love and memories were recovered and will continue with Julie as a reminder that good things still happen and not to loose faith and hope ever.

Please take the time to watch, like, share and subscribe to this story on my YouTube channel. In doing so others will learn of TheRingFinders and know when the time comes there is a specialist nearby that can offer them some experienced support in getting their precious items of value back!

Cheers,

  • from Washington (District of Columbia, United States)

Jenny’s Amazing Looking Engagement Ring!

Jenny’s Beautiful and Unique Engagement Ring Finally Returned Home!

BRIAN RUDOLPH, LOST ITEM RECOVERY SPECIALIST (LAND, WATER, SAND, HOUSES & VEHICLES) WILL FIND YOUR LOST KEEPSAKE! CALL ASAP (301) 466-8644!

I WANT TO PERSONALLY THANK CELEBRITY ACTOR, JON CRYER, FOR SHARING ON TWITTER, HIS OWN PERSONAL STORY OF HOW “THE RING FINDERS” HELPED HIM FIND HIS MISSING WEDDING BAND! NOW, MANY THOUSANDS AROUND THE WORLD WHO ONCE LOST THEIR SPECIAL RINGS AND KEEPSAKES ARE CONTACTING MEMBERS OF “THE RING FINDERS” LIKE ME! AS A RESULT, THESE PEOPLE ARE BEING SURPRISINGLY AND HAPPILY REUNITED WITH THEIR SENTIMENTAL JEWELRY FOR THE FIRST TIME IN YEARS!

Jenny is now one of many people around the world who have been personally affected by the recent Twitter feed of celebrity actor, Jon Cryer. Miraculously, he was able to recover his cherished wedding ring that was lost during his day off of work from filming the TV series ‘Supergirl’ on location in Vancouver, Canada. Cryer is recognized for his well-known acting roles, including the highly successful sitcom show ‘Two and a Half Men’ that ran for 12 seasons from 2003 to 2015, as well as the ever famous 1980’s classic movie, ‘Pretty in Pink’. Because so many around the globe have chimed in to Cryer’s Twitter story and are finding their lost treasures (thanks to the help of THE RING FINDERS), this amazing outcome has now been officially titled, “The Jon Cryer Effect”!

Coincidentally, as I was wrapping up a successful search in Alexandria, Virginia (which came together due to Cryer’s recent tweet), I received a call from a young lady named Jenny who was yet another Twitter follower of the famous actor Jon Cryer who shared on Twitter how THE RING FINDER’S CEO, Chris Turner, found his wedding band! She, like many others, thought that maybe she could reach out to a member of the elite metal detecting directory in Washington DC and hoped that perhaps maybe I could find her lost engagement ring that had been missing for just over a year! As I was packing up my gear, I listened to Jenny’s voicemail message and immediately called her back to gain more information about her particular situation.

THE BACKSTORY

Jenny shared with me that one year ago she was taking a walk through the woods of Glover Park, located in Washington DC near the National Cathedral, when all of a sudden she was attacked by dozens and dozens of hornets! She believed that she had stepped right into a nest whereby the angry critters viciously attacked her over and over again! She was left with over 25 hornets stings all over her body. She tried to get away from the attackers by running down a hill and into a clearing where she constantly swatted and batted them with her hands as she desperately attempted to fight them off! In the process of defending herself from those demonic insects, Jenny’s eyeglasses fell to the ground where she eventually stepped on them, causing the lenses to break into pieces. At that point she could barely see clearly, causing her to be quite disoriented. Unfortunately, the worst was yet to come! In the thick of the battle, while fighting off those flying beasts, the tortured woman felt her very heavy yellow gold, 1.75 carat diamond engagement ring fly off her finger! Though she was completely overwhelmed by what she was facing with her attackers, she somehow tried to search around for her missing keepsake. However, because she was hurt so very badly by so many stings, at some point she needed to leave the forest in order to receive medical attention at the nearby hospital. It was a terrible dilemma because she knew that she needed to get help for her hornet stings and yet she didn’t want to leave her most precious jewel somewhere out there in the woods where someone walking by may have the chance to spot the ring and walk off with it.

Once Jenny got help for herself and she was able to return back to the location where she lost her ring, she and her husband searched the woods the very next day but they still couldn’t find the solid gold betrothal piece anywhere. She first rented a metal detector but nothing turned up at the search site. Then, once she finally returned the rented machine, she was fortunate enough to borrow one of her children’s teacher’s metal detectors. Jenny and her family continued to make the trek back to the “scene of the crime”, hoping that something would turn up, but even those attempts ended up with empty hands. Hours of searching turned into days, and days eventually turned into weeks and months. Still, nobody could find her beautiful gold diamond engagement ring anywhere. It was as if it disappeared into thin air. They did everything possible at the time to hopefully find the missing ring. They used rakes to work through the many leaves that had fallen during that fall season of 2019, and over and over again the search team meandered through the wooded area, looking under and around the many tree limbs and logs that were scattered about the search site. Of course, there was a chance that somebody had already found the treasured item. Jenny and family realized that if the jewel landed somewhere along the path that was perpendicular to the trail that went down the hill where Jenny was attacked by the hornets, it was quite possible that at some point during the next few days following her horrible incident, somebody could have picked it up before the autumn leaves covered over the priceless ring. Even with their worst fears, Jenny and her husband reported the missing ring to the park ranger, hoping that if someone picked up the ring, it would be turned in and eventually reclaimed. She estimated that over the next year, 100 plus hours had been invested in all of her search efforts which included over 30 hours of metal detecting, and plenty of assistance from her husband, children and friends! Again, nothing ever turned up.

THE SEARCH

Jenny was absolutely devastated by the loss of something so special as this. However, she was a determined woman who never gave up hope that perhaps the ring was still out there somewhere, buried under downed trees or lost in the high grass and bramble. Finally, a beacon of hope was spotted on Jenny’s smartphone as she read actor Jon Cryer’s Twitter feed about the successful recovery of his own beloved wedding band! She went online to THE RING FINDER’S website and reviewed my profile listed under the Washington DC metropolitan area. Little did Jenny know that I had just discovered two other lost rings that had gone missing for 3 years and 1 year for people just like her who also read Jon Cryer’s Twitter feed and contacted me in the days that followed, asking if I could help them find their rings! I couldn’t wait to set up a time for me to travel out to the Washington DC forest to make a search attempt to recover Jenny’s lost gold diamond engagement ring!

While Jenny and I were talking on the phone, I asked her question after question regarding everything that transpired leading up to the ring flying off of her finger out in the forest. From what she described, I felt very confident that there was a strong possibility that nobody spotted the ring with the amount of “distracting nature” that surrounded that particular area. She mentioned that there was quite a bit of bramble and fallen trees that had rested in the location where she was once under attack by those vicious hornets. Also, she said that she lost the ring in October 2019 during the same autumn season exactly one year ago. That information gave me hope that the ring could still be out there because it could have easily been camouflaged by the golden colors of the leaves that had fallen from the trees above, causing her engagement ring to blend in perfectly with its surroundings.

Yes, there was plenty of metal detecting at the site, but in my mind, it didn’t mean that the gold ring hadn’t been missed. In my many experiences with other people using detectors that are made of cheap quality electronics and having lack of experience, those search attempts generally end up being futile, giving up no positive results. I remember telling Jenny on the phone how excited I was to hear that there was plenty of thorn bushes and overgrown weeds and trees that had fallen down all around that area. She couldn’t figure out why I was so encouraged by her description of that forsaken territory where her nightmare took place! I reiterated my positive thoughts about her description of the site by explaining that it gave more opportunities for the ring to hide as opposed to having only one or two scenarios as to where the jewel could have ended up (such as it being left on the path for somebody to pick up). Though Jenny was still in a mode of doubting the possibility that I may be the one to recover her lost keepsake, she was nonetheless enthusiastic for giving me a shot at finding her precious ring that she had missed so much.

I finished our second conversation that same night by encouraging Jenny with several search and recovery stories that had to do with me finding people’s rings that had gone missing for years. Jewelry that had been out there for the longest time, buried in the ground or hidden in a vehicle or house, just waiting to be found by me! Before we got off the phone, we tentatively set up a time to meet in three days on a Saturday afternoon. I told her I couldn’t wait to get out there into the woods and help her find the  lost engagement ring that she cherished so very much! Jenny didn’t know what to say to that declaration because so many hours had already gone into the search and every time she gave it her all, she came up with nothing. I told her if that ring was never picked up and it was still out there somewhere, I told her that I would indeed find it for her…guaranteed!

For the next three days, I couldn’t wait to meet up with Jenny in order for her to take me into the woods and show me where all of the drama took place a year ago this October. I pictured the ring buried somewhere out there, just waiting for me to come and return it to the finger that it still belonged to! She and her two dogs met me at one of the entrances to Glover Park located in Washington DC not too far from the National Cathedral. Jenny, who is very familiar with the paths and trails throughout the park (it was routine for her to walk her retrievers in that area quite frequently), led the way into the woods and down into the forest where she lost her ring on that one dreadful afternoon. As we walked to the spot, she gave me more details about that particular day and just how much effort she had invested in trying to find her beloved engagement ring.

After a good 5 or 10 minutes of walking over rocks, downed trees and across muddy spots, we eventually got to the top of a hill where Jenny was steps away from being attacked by those ruthless hornets. Her dogs led the way as she guided me down the slope, eventually stopping at the bottom where it started to level out. Another path could be seen to the left and right of us and I immediately wondered how busy this particular trail had been traveled. Jenny stood close to the intersection of the two paths and recounted what happened next. She showed me how she was swatting the insects profusely, trying with all of her might to get them off of her. She demonstrated for me just how she was standing and brought attention to the angle of how she was positioned when she tried to fight off her attackers. Jenny believed her left arm went forward and that the ring most likely went into the woods in front of her, towards some very large trees that had fallen many years prior. There was a gigantic tree trunk with its roots still intact, along with all kinds of huge branches, tree limbs, high grass, weeds and plenty of bramble growing wild everywhere. Just as she described to me on the phone days before, there was plenty of obstacles and area to search! The ring could have still been hiding just about anywhere! She actually ended up apologizing to me for such a complicated search site to have to investigate! I told her, “Please, there is no need to apologize because I am more encouraged about having this kind of environment as opposed to being in a public area where anyone could have easily spotted the ring on the day that it flew off your finger!”

Next, I asked Jenny to give me an account of all of the spots where her crew had metal detected so that I could have an idea of what pieces of real estate were already covered in the past year. She pointed out those locations, but I noticed that she didn’t mention the property behind where she was standing. I pointed to the hillside where we came down and over to the right another 30 to 75 feet, and asked her if anyone searched behind the section that she thought the ring had flown towards. Her response was that they had barely looked in those areas because she had believed that the ring had flown forward into where the trees and bramble rested based on how her arm moved forward during the brutal attack. I took close attention to those facts.

Once we covered all of the details regarding where she felt the ring flew and all the places that she, her family and friends searched over the past year, I was ready to return back to my car to gather up my gear and return to the search site to begin my recovery project. Jenny was kind enough to orient me to a closer entrance point which would help me pull my equipment wagon down into the woods where my travels to the site would be much faster than where we originally entered. She took some of my orange grid cones and placed them in key positions where I would be able to find my way out of the woods and back to my car once I finished the first leg of my search that day. We didn’t know how many trips it would take for me to wrap up the project because there was so much territory to cover. However, it was clear that I needed to have a way of identifying markers in order for me to make my way out of the park and back to my vehicle.

Jenny guided me back to the search site, showing me a little stream with lots of rocks and mud that I would need to cross over, and then eventually she pointed me to the largest landmark at the “scene of the crime” – that huge tree that was lying on its side just in front of where Jenny fought for her life last October.

Before she took off to walk the dogs deeper into the forest, I warned Jenny that upon her return to this location, she may end up observing me searching for the engagement ring in an area that most people would consider to be an illogical place to metal detect when searching for a jewel that went flying in an entirely different zone. She appreciated my words but assured me that she was putting what hope she had left into my care, wishful that I would use my expertise and experience to pull her ring from the park!

As she headed off with the dogs, I started setting up my gear for what I anticipated to be a very long and possibly difficult search project. Like I mentioned above, there was no way of telling whether or not the ring had already been picked up by somebody or not. All that I could do was to give it my all and hope for the best. Before I began setting grid cones up in a certain area on the hill side where she had originally ran down just after being attacked by the hornets, I prayed to the Lord and asked my beloved Creator to help me and guide me in the search efforts. I asked my Heavenly Father to give me wisdom and guidance in finding the hiding place where the ring had ended up, believing that it was still somewhere out there. Then, I put my metal detecting harness over my jacket, placed the headphones over my ears and finally started grid searching inside of the area where I placed the cones up and around a portion of the hill.

Generally, when one is metal detecting an area way out in the woods, there is very little metal that you will encounter in the ground. This scenario was no different. However, there were a few targets that I dug up because the metal detector was picking up a few shallow targets that were just below the ground. I knew that if the ring was still there on that property, it would be just slightly below the dirt and leaves with just a little bit of the halo showing up above the ground. It turned out that there was absolutely no ring to be discovered in the first section that I marked off with my orange cones.

By the time I finished grid searching that first area, Jenny had returned with her precious retrievers just to check on how things were going and to let me know that she was heading back to her place. I quickly showed her what I completed at that point and pointed to the area that was going to be surrounded by cones for my next grid search. Eventually Jenny left and I remained there at the site, continuing my efforts to reclaim my client’s lost beloved ring. Though there was so much pain, drama and sadness that took place in this region of the park, I still couldn’t help myself appreciate the surroundings which were absolutely beautiful that autumn day.

I would continue to work on the hillside, adjacent to where I had just finished the first section. Moving to the other side of the trail where she quickly ran down the slope as she was being attacked by the hornets, my aim was to hit that spot next. I set the cones up around that that territory and was then ready to begin that second phase of the search. For some unexplainable reason (which I now believe was true divine guidance by the Spirit of the Lord in answer to my earlier prayer), I began to just randomly metal detect the area that Jenny had pointed out where she and the others predominantly searched over the past year. I wasn’t thinking that I would necessarily find the ring, but I was just curious as to what I would discover and get an idea of how much metal was in the ground in the environment where all of the downed trees, high grass and bramble predominantly congregated around. I casually swung the detector in that particular zone and then slowly moved my way around and back towards the path that crossed the trail that goes up the hill. There was no ring to be found in any of those spots that I casually swung the coil over. One habit that I seem to typically implement while I am detecting an area is to keep swinging my detector over real estate until I get to the section that I intend to grid search next, just in case I come across something of interest along the way. This moment was no different. I crossed the path that divided the main section of where she had been searching for the past year over to the hillside section that would have been where her back was facing during the hornet attack. I didn’t get more than 6 feet off the path, moving up the slight incline (probably 8 to 10 feet over to my right which would take me towards the coned off area that I was about to grid) when I hit a pretty significant target signal that appeared to be buried just below the surface. Because the ground was covered with the most beautiful colors from the autumn season, I wasn’t able to observe whether or not this target was partially resting above the ground. However, I was about to find out! The VDI number (visual discrimination indicator) that appeared on my detector screen came up as a solid 18. First of all, that number is not a common number that comes up on my detector. Usually I find items made of lead that come into that range of 17 or 18. Therefore, this solid 18 number got me really curious. A typical lady’s yellow gold engagement ring would never register such a high number. In fact, I was only told that the target that I was looking for was a yellow gold solitaire diamond ring with the stone set into the band. I didn’t think much about the weight because usually lady’s rings aren’t designed with a bulk of extra gold. Most of the time I find that a lady’s yellow gold ring will fall into the VDI number range between 8 and13.

With this current target that I was about to investigate, I honestly was not thinking that I had found Jenny’s ring by any means. However, I am always hopeful in every situation because I have seen so many miracle stories take place with many of my searches. With this target signal, I was not going to discount that same possibility, as well. I got down on my knees to the ground and pulled out my handheld metal detector which helps to pinpoint the exact location of where the other metal detector had discovered the target. I waved it over the ground in the spot where the detector picked up the curious object and almost immediately I located the exact spot where the item was buried. Slowly, I used my left hand to start removing some of the surface dirt to see if I could make out exactly what the target was before having to use my digger to go farther down if necessary. Instantly my eyes caught the most beautiful image of something gold in color that was resting just below some brittle leaves and topsoil and on that hillside. I could not believe what I was looking at! Only a part of the object was protruding through the ground, but I knew very well that what I was going to pull from the earth in a moment’s time just had to be Jenny’s missing diamond engagement ring! There was no way that another piece of precious metal would have been lost in the same vicinity as the ring that I was on the hunt for! This had to be Jenny’s jewel! It was an unbelievable moment for me! I was only walking in the direction of where I was about to start my second grid search when I hit this home run! I couldn’t believe it! It was absolutely amazing! The cones were already in place for me to begin my grid lines and yet I never even made it over to that second zone! Why? Because I believe I was divinely guided by the hand to the very spot where Jenny’s beloved keepsake had landed and remained hidden for over a year! The ring was discovered 27 feet from where Jenny remembered feeling her priceless gem slipping off her finger! The keepsake flew from across Jenny’s left side, over her head and moved airborne in the direction behind her to the right on a 45 degree angle (4 o’clock position), slightly up the hill!

Once I Removed Some Top Soil and Leaves, This is What My Eyes Encountered!

I was now looking at a huge piece of gold exposed in front of my eyes! The rest of the ring was perhaps buried maybe a half-inch in the ground! Jenny had mentioned twice to me that she had searched for over 100 hours and even came back to the search site after the two of us talked on the phone the other day! So much time was invested in trying to find her precious ring, and yet nothing became of all of her efforts…until now! Her best decision was to contact THE RING FINDERS! The ring that she had attempted to recover in an entire year of searching, I was able to successfully find in 20 minutes! Though I would have eventually grid searched the spot where I stumbled upon that most priceless piece of artwork, the fact that I found the treasure so quickly and incidentally was beyond a surreal moment for me!

The moment was too amazing to believe that it was really happening! Yet, it really was a reality! I really did find Jenny’s beautiful solid gold diamond engagement ring! I was so excited that I actually fell to the ground and laid there on my back like a little kid with my feet and hands up towards the top of the trees! I couldn’t contain myself! I just took in the moment, thanking God over and over again and saying out loud, “I can’t believe that this is really happening that I actually found the diamond engagement ring and how quickly I discovered it!” When you know that somebody has been searching for something for over a year with metal detectors and with numerous people added to the hunt, you can anticipate searches like this to be a bit more complicated than some of the more simple scenarios that we ring finders have had to tackle. I loved the challenge of this particular case, but I had no idea that I would end up finding Jenny’s ring this quick and so easily!

I didn’t even pull the ring out of the ground before I walked 40 feet back to my equipment wagon, pulled out a white rag, placed onto the ground in front of me and worshipped the Lord down on my knees! Jenny would finally get this priceless and most sentimental piece of jewelry back on her finger soon enough! I knew that this was one more miracle story to be added to all of my others that I had experienced over the past couple of years! I wanted to give God the glory and thank Him before I held that ring in my hands for the first time!

The Engagement Ring Flew 27 Feet Behind Jenny During Her Horrible Hornet Attack!

As I was still on my knees, a gentleman who was walking his dog on the trail just feet from where I had found the ring, stopped and inquired about what was going on and what I was doing. His name was Lindsay. I explained to him that I was worshiping the Lord because I found something very special that belonged to someone and I couldn’t believe that I had found it so quickly! I explained that it was a ring that had gone missing for over a year! He was quite intrigued and asked if he could see the treasure that I pulled from the earth. I was more than thrilled to share my excitement with him! It was at that moment that I returned to the diamond ring that was still waiting for me to raise her up from the ground! Slowly and carefully I separated the piece of gold from the earth, exposing the most humongous diamond that was embedded into the actual band of the gold ring! It was simply exquisite! There were two accent lines of white gold that were wrapped around each of the sides of the ring and the artwork on this beautiful object was simply stunning! The weight of this jewel was extremely heavy for a lady’s ring, very non-characteristic of a lady’s engagement ring! It was a very special ring that was obviously custom-made in every which way. I would later find out that the ring was designed based on the need to have a diamond that would not rub or bump into things while the owner physically worked out and while regularly teaching yoga classes.

Lindsay was so taken back by the whole story of what I had searched for and so quickly discovered, that he asked if he could bring his entire family over to the site so that they too could witness the cool event!  I welcomed their visit and I told him that in the meantime I would be continuing my time of worship onto the Lord and then begin taking pictures of this incredible moment! He left and I returned to my white towel that was still laid out on top of the leaves near my wagon and I just continued to thank God for everything! The gratitude in my heart was overwhelming! I thought that I would most likely have to come back for consecutive visits to complete the search and hopefully find the ring in that process of time. I never thought in a million years that I would end up finding the engagement ring in such a short period of time! Once I finished my moment with God, I returned back to where the ring was found and documented the entire event with my still camera and video equipment.

By the time I wrapped up my photo session, my new friend’s family arrived at the search site and I got to share with them the whole search story from beginning to end! They were the nicest people! I could see it in the kids’ eyes just how intrigued they were to witness something as fantastic as this with me finding buried treasure out there in the middle of the forest! When you see something made of solid gold with a huge diamond set inside the precious metal, just lying on the ground where it should have never been lost, it’s pretty powerful to experience such a moment! This is what makes ring finders and metal detectorists like me so energized and beyond thrilled when we find someone else’s lost property in places such as this!

At some point, before the family headed off, they thanked me for sharing this special celebration with all of them. We said our goodbyes and though I took enough photos and video earlier, I decided to document a few more moments before it started getting darker outside.

Eventually, I began packing my things up. While I was still in the forest, there wasn’t a moment that I wasn’t still floating on cloud nine! I constantly thanked God and felt so grateful that I discovered the ring where I had found it and just how fast it was recovered! As I was collecting all of the cones that I had set up in that second zone where I had intended to start grid searching, I thought to myself just how innocent I was, metal detecting randomly in that first area where Jenny said that they had been looking for so very long. I recounted how I crossed over the trail and began making my way back towards the cones and how I just happened to stumble over the ring as I made my way to start the second zone! I could have just begun the grid search on that other part of the hill, but it never had to take place! Yes, as I shared before, I would have eventually found the ring because the area where it ended up was at some point going to be the third section that I planned to hunt. But, boy did I save a lot of time and energy! Oh yes! I could not have been more surprised!

Once I packed everything up in my blue wagon, I said goodbye to this very special search site that was a witness to Jenny’s attack and the loss of her precious ring during the October before this one. But now it became a beautiful place now that the earth gave up something that only belonged to Jenny and nobody else! I was so proud to be a part of such a search and recovery project and to be the one to eventually return the most beautiful and sentimental keepsake to its rightful owner. Returned to one who had been yearning for a reunion with this sentimental keepsake for so very long! Finally, this huge piece of gold with its amazingly large diamond was leaving the forest since October 2019!

It was a moment that I will never forget, the evening that I surprised Jenny and one of her children (who happened to be home at the time of the ring reveal)! She was absolutely stunned! So much so that she admittedly shared with me that she thought that the ring that I had surprised her with couldn’t possibly be hers! Why? Because I was able to find the keepsake so very quickly as opposed to all of the search attempts that she had made that added up to well over 100 hours and each one miserably failed! She thought, ‘How could this be?’ But she then eventually came around to realizing that there was no way that I could have produced a copy of such an incredible engagement ring because I had never seen a picture of what it looked like in the first place! Jenny was completely in a daze when I handed her that ring! The realization that it was finally back in her possession after all this time was something that she couldn’t fully describe with words! The same jewel that was placed upon Jenny’s finger by her beloved groom on the day of their marriage, was now back on that same ring finger, never to get away from this bride ever again for the rest of her life! During that reunion moment, you could easily see what was going on inside of that stunned young lady! Emotions of pure happiness were dancing within every chamber of her heart! Part two of Jenny’s horrible nightmare that took place one year ago this month had finally come to an end…her lost engagement ring had finally come home to her!
