Mark reached out to me after losing his 14K Gold wedding band while doing some work around the yard. He was raking up leaves in the backyard and getting everything ready for winter. It was cold and he was in a hurry to get the work done. When he finished putting the leaves in bags, he went inside to wash his hands and noticed his ring was missing.
After talking with Mark and surveying the area, I started to grid off and search for the ring. After completing my grid of the area, the ring was nowhere to be found. I turned to the bags of leaves and on the 3rd bag, got a signal and sitting there was his ring! Good thing the bags of leaves didn’t make it to the dump before I had a chance to search them! Mark was thrilled!

September 2021 John was searching the internet for metal detector rentals and became concerned how successful he would be having not used one before. With a little more online searching he ran across a video from the TheRingFinders YouTube page where Chris Turner had recovered a diamond solitaire in the water. So, John decided to see what this was about. He went to TheRingFinders.com and found my list for the local area. He sent a txt asking four some assistance in searching for his lost wedding band. The next morning we had a quick discussion and the search was set for later that day.
He informed me that he had take his watch and ring off so he would not get any tan lines. He tossed them into the side pocket of his beach chair that only had a velcro flap. After reading a book and pickup to leave he forgot to put his ring back on his finger. After walking down the beach about a hundred yards he realizes his ring was missing. He remembered there was a man with a metal detector earlier that day on the beach but he was no where to be found. After a quick visual search John left the beach thinking he would need to find a way to search for his lost wedding band.
Watch the video for the exciting conclusion of the lost rose gold wedding band that slipped out of his Tommy Bahama beach chair side pocket.

September 2020 a young man reached out to me for some recovery assistance of some lost items out of his canoe. He went out to do some fishing with a buddy loaded up with fishing gear and their cell phones. Apparently the buddy was not so experienced in a canoe and wound up tipping the boat over. Of course nothing was tied off to the boat and at some point as the canoe drifted down stream all there goodies trickled out of the craft and sunk to the bottom of the channel.
This portion of the Sammamish River connects Lake Sammamish to Lake Washington. On this Septemeber day it is very docile with a very slow flow rate. The bottom of the channel is a fairly clean sandy contour due to the flow the visibility was not as bad as it can be in the bottom of our local lakes.Never the less it was a slower process going foot by foot searching the channel from side to side visually searching for their lost items.
Check out the video to see the exciting recovery process in action. The iPhone having been in only seven feet of water actually survived. After drying the phone and charging, it turned on with no damage to the screen. In these situations I always urge people to take the opportunity to make a fresh back up incase the phone dies a few days later due to the corrosion process if any water made its way inside the phone. At least having a fresh backup ensure a happy stress free transition into a replacement phone.

Last fall (2021) Joe reached out me after noticing his wedding ring was missing. He was out coaching football in the rain and after practice noticed it was not on his finger. He reached out me shortly after and I went to the football field with him to try to narrow down the search area. A football field is a large area to cover with a 12 inch coil hahaha. I ended up making two trips to the area and found 3 rings before I found Joe’s beautiful platinum wedding band. The ring has rubies and diamonds representing their birth stones. Joe was so thrilled to get it back! The other rings did not having any engravings in them so unfortunately have no way of getting the rings back to their owners. I always recommend to those who reach out to get their rings engraved with their name or something that someone can search and find who it belongs to. You never know when that precious item might find its way back to you.
Kiley reached out to me after realizing she just lost her 14k rose gold wedding ring. She came home and went to bring in the trash cans off the street. The trash can lid was open so she flipped it closed which upon doing, she got some snow on her hands. She went to flick off the snow and heard her ring hit the snow. It was dark and she was unable to see where it landed. It was a beautiful 14k rose gold ring with an Opal and two small diamonds. After searching in the snow, she turned to finding a metal detector and found this page. I went over that evening in the dark and search for nearly two hours along the tree strip where the trash can had been. I expanded the search area but unfortunately did not find the ring that night. I went home, tested a few small rings my wife has making sure my detector was picking up the signal. It was working great! I also came up with a theory that the ring didn’t actually come off her hand after closing the lid to the trash can but that the lid of the trash can caught her ring and threw it up in the air directly into the street or to the tree strip across the street. I went back the next day and continued to search the area she thought she lost it but after an hour or so, still no ring. I decided to put my theory to action and after just a few minutes directly across the street, I found her ring laying in the tree street about 40 feet away! It just so happened to be Kiley’s birthday so it was a nice birthday surprise getting the ring back to her!

Victoria contacted me asking for assistance in finding her lost engagement ring. She had taken her dog out along side their apartment building when a bee or bug startled her. She explained that she is highly allergic so it was natural to flick her hands and spin around to scare of the critter. In doing so her engagement ring shot off her finger and she recalls hearing the ring landing on what sounded like nearby leaves.
We learned the young couple obtained a metal detector but after laboring away in the yard they simply were unable to locate the ring. This lead to more searching when they found the TheRingFinders.com online and gave me a call. Of course I agreed to perform a search for her lost engagement ring.
After arriving and hearing her recall her account of the incident first hand I was sure of one thing only that the ring did in fact leave her finger and was some place in the yard. With the amount of energy the ring could have been within inches of where she was standing to several feet away in any direction 365 degrees. So it made logical since for me to just divide the whole yard in to a huge grid search knowing if it were to be found eventually I would systematically get my metal detector coil over her ring. Watch the video to see the full details of the search. Pay close attention to where the ring was found and how close it was to having been a much more complex recovery.

Received a urgent request from a student who lost her mother’s ring while building a snowman in one of the first snowstorms of the year in Chicago. Distraught would be an understatement! Panic stricken….Yes. To complicate matters, she had been throwing snowballs too. She had spent hours searching the snow not realizing she was also packing the snow and making it harder to find. It was 10 degrees out, so not the most enjoyable time to hunt. Took my XP Deus and hunted in 12 kHz in my ring program. Knowing it was a surface find made it easier by raising the coil. I knew it was gold so I expected it to fall in the 40-50 range. However I did not know what the Karat gold it was. First I searched the snowman figuring that it could have been picked up while rolling the snow..no luck. I moves about 2 feet from snowman and got a target at 60. BINGO!! 18K goes higher that 50 on a good sized ring.
I received a call from Chantel on Thursday requesting my service to locate her lost Kia key fob and house keys in her back yard or in neighbor’s yard. She explained that her five year old daughter had them and was playing with them in the back yard. The keys had been missing for all most two weeks and Chantel spent many hours looking for them with no luck. I told Chantel that since we have been in a very cold spell in the -40 Celsius for the past week, her keys were safe. I told her I would search on Saturday morning as the weather was going to be a little warmer at -26 and we both agreed.
I arrived at her residence at 10 am! Chantel showed me her back yard which was a small yard and explained that her daughter was playing and throwing the keys around the yard and that there was a possibility that they could also be in the next door neighbor’s yard. I did a thorough search but no keys were found so, with permission, I went to both neighbors’ yards and still no keys were found. Chantel was giving up so I said that they had to be here somewhere! In the corner of her neighbor’s yard was a garden shed and I asked Chantel if she had a ladder so I could check the roof of the shed. Bingo, there were the keys.
As we all know! Key fobs are very expensive to replace. Chantel was very happy to have her keys back.

Last night around 10 pm I received a call from a young man who told me his friend lost a very special gold ring in the snow. After asking a few questions we set up for a meeting the next morning at 10 am. I told you were kind of hoping I would come out that evening but because of the ice cold conditions I felt it was better to meet the next morning, knowing nobody would be looking for his ring in the snow in a parking lot near their house.
When I arrived I met two young men and we discussed the search area and as expected it really didn’t take long to find his smile! Every search is unique and different and sometimes you go in thinking it’s going to be quick it turns out to be one of the longest searches you’ve ever done. There’s a thing called Murphy’s Law and things just don’t happen as you think they should, that being said his ring was sitting right beside a big iron lid for city water. I knew and I wasn’t finding the ring it must’ve been close to that so I kick the snow away from the iron lid and bingo!
Two good friends and a successful morning!

I have the best job in the world, I love helping people more than anything I’ve ever done in my lifetime. I get to make people smile, I get to hear their stories of what their ring means to them, and I get to see how happy they are when I find it.
On the eve of the New Year with a high temp of 5 degrees Fahrenheit, Whitney contacted me about her lost platinum ring. See Whitney had gotten a diamond and platinum ring for Christmas. Loving it dearly she wore it while sledding with her family. With a quick adjustment of her glove the ring said “see ya” as it decided to go sledding too. But like all rings during winter time they come off the hand warmer then the outside temperature and the snow. So Whitney’s platinum ring sunk into the snow and wedged itself in between the rocks below. After I arrived and said “hello”, Whitney and I climbed the little sled hill where the ring came off. Whitney demonstrated the ring toss and I started my grid. Two grid lines down the hill led me to a 16 vdi signal. Quickly pinpointing, the snow showed me a shiny rim and just as I found the ring Whitney had gone back into her house. So I walked quickly over to the back door and knocked. Whitney was still taking off her boots when I held up my hand with the ring. Her mask hid her smile but her words, “Logan he found it!” let me know she was super happy to have her Christmas present back.
