How to find a lost ring with Metal Detector, Beach Haven NJ, LBI, recovered by Edward Trapper, NJ Ring Finder

Jason called me about his wedding ring, which he had lost in the sand the day before. Since it was a beautiful day and the beach was likely to be crowded, I asked if he could head up to the area and try to secure it so we’d have a clear space to work. When I arrived, Jason showed me the spot where he thought the ring was lost. After searching the area for about 15 minutes, I found no sign of the ring.

It had rained since the ring was lost, but you could still see footprints and tire marks from a beach cart. I walked with Jason around mid-beach, pointing out what I thought was the correct location. Unfortunately, they had set up their large group—about 20 chairs, carts, toys, and more—right over that spot. I asked them to move everything over to the already-searched area, and I began searching again, starting from the high tide line and working back.

Less than five minutes into the new search, I got a strong signal from my metal detector. Carefully digging into the sand with my scoop, I pulled up Jason’s ring. Everyone in his party was amazed that I found it so quickly. Another vacation saved by NJ Ring Finder!

Lost Wedding Band Recovered in the Gulf – Orange Beach, AL

I got a call this afternoon from Madison who was vacationing with her whole family in Orange Beach, AL. Madison’s husband, Chris had been out in the Gulf throwing a football in the rough waters when he realized that his wedding band was missing.

I talked with Madison on the phone and she was so nice that I decided I would make the drive in traffic to help out. When I got there, the whole family was ready to watch, help and cheer me on.

The Gulf was pretty choppy but I was able to do several passes with no luck. I decided to switch angles and adjust the area a bit based on the tides and some extra input from others who were vested in the outcome.

Sure enough I only went a little farther until I heard a beautiful gold sound in my headphones and scooped up Chris’ wedding band.

In the celebration with the whole family I quickly learned from Madison and Chris that they had only been married since November. I told them that I was so happy that I could give them an awesome story to share for years to come.

At some point she was tossing a ball around and her ring, which was a family heirloom passed down thru generations, slipped off her finger and disappeared into the sand. Anders and his fiancee were enjoying a day at Showcase of Citrus in Clermont with Anders’s four year old son…when the boy, who had somehow got a hold of the fiancee’s white gold diamond engagement ring, decided to throw the ring over a high fence and into the Capybara enclosure! Anders and his fiancee were shocked but figured that since they were throwing carrots and celery and cabbage into the pens where the animals were that maybe the boy figured that was the thing to do. They immediately contacted the management and asked if they could search and retrieve the thrown ring and after an hour of looking they determined that they needed a metal detector to locate their lost engagement ring. They returned the next day with a low end metal detector and ended up more frustrated and still could not find the ring. That led Anders to search online for a metal detecting service and one of my stories came up on the ring finders website and he gave me a call. The next day I met Anders and his fiancee and I had them walk me through what all happened and where the young boy was standing when he threw the ring. The management was extremely easy to work with and gave us permission to enter the enclosure and I began a tight grid search over the determined area. There were two high metal fences surrounding the pen and I was hoping and praying that the thrown ring did NOT fall near the base as it was very heavy with thick grass plus all the metal of the fence which would have made the search allot more difficult and time consuming! About 10 minutes into the search I had covered the area that I figured would be a reasonable throw for a four year old…so I began to grid wider and within minutes I got the perfect signal and there laying in the sand and thin grass was the lost engagement ring…fully exposed and what a beautiful sight it was!!

Anders had just given his fiancee the ring only a few months earlier and they were overwhelmed with relief and joy!

“Do Not Duplicate Key” Lost In Old Orchard Beach, Maine, Found With A metal Detector and Returned To Owner

While out on a search, for some lost missing rings, I found a freshly dropped Key. Once home that night, I was looking at the key and noticed it was a “Do Not Duplicate” key and the locksmiths name and phone number was on the key, to call if found. The locksmiths name is Fortier’s Lock, and a Maine phone number is also on the key. After an internet search, I found Fortier’s Security Center, formerly Fortier’s Locksmith and is located in Lewiston, Maine,  approximately 50 minutes north of me. Now, Fortier’s Security Center is the oldest locksmith in Maine. It is family owned and has been in business since 1921. WOW, over 100 years old and still family owned.
So I called the number the next morning, Saturday, but they were closed until Monday. Monday rolled around and I called again. This time I was able to reach them and explained to her, what I had found. She told me they could locate the owner by the serial numbers, on the key. I gave her the serial numbers and she would call the owner. Perfect, I will be able to return the key, once the owner called me, after being contacted by Fortier’s Security Center. Wednesday came and I still hadn’t heard anything. I called Fortier’s Security Center and the employee told me they had left a message for the owner of the key because no one had answered their phone call. They would call the owner again and try to make contact. I received no call on Wednesday or Thursday.
So on Friday I decided to drive toLewiston, Maine and drop the key off myself, to Fortier’s Security Center. Cheryl and I were heading to Athens, Maine, for a funeral, on Friday and we would be driving right by Lewiston, on our way to Athens. We would just get off the Maine Turnpike and drop the key off to Fortier’s Center, on Lisbon Street. As luck would have it, Fortier’s Security Center is just off the turnpike exit and I would be able to get right back on the road. Once I arrived at the location, I went inside and was immediately approached by the owner. I showed him the key and explained the situation. He assured me that the owner would get the key back and they would call them again today. Thankfully the records show who the owner is and the owner will soon have their key back.  So, now I have returned the key and although it may not be as flashy as a diamond engagement ring being returned, it is a return of a key that may  unlock a safe deposit box that holds jewelry and gold coins. Well I can dream, can’t I.

History Repeating Itself Averted! Stainless-Steel Chain and Silver St. Christopher Medal Lost, Found, and Returned Wrightsville Beach NC

Just before 8 p.m. on Tuesday, I got a call from Robert asking if I could help find his stainless-steel necklace with a St. Christopher Medal. He told me he had called the Ring Finder closer to Wrightsville Beach, John Finnerin, but didn’t get an answer. I could tell by the desperation in his voice that this necklace was very important to him. I told him I’d give John a call and if I couldn’t get him, I’d be on my way. John didn’t answer, so I called Robert back and told him it’d take me almost an hour and a half to get there. Unfortunately, Robert and his wife were already home from vacation, so I needed a good idea of the search area. On the way up to the beach, I called Robert back and discussed all the necessary details I needed. He told me that he rarely took the necklace off. When they set up their chairs for the day on the beach, he took the necklace off and put it in the chair cup holder. When they were packing up and leaving the next day is when he realized his necklace was gone.

When I arrived, and found a place to park, I called Robert back to confirm I was at the right beach access. He also gave me a couple more landmarks that lined up with where I was. I made my way down to the beach access and out on the beach. There was about a 3-4 ft cut (where the waves wash away the sand). Again, I called Robert to verify whether the cut was there the day before, He said it was and they were sitting in front of that, towards the ocean. I got as much information as I needed and went to work. I started at the top of the cut and took my search out to about 15-20 yards on each side of the middle of the access. Within15 minutes, and as I made my 3rd turn to go in the other direction, I got a loud solid signal. The number on my machine was showing me 29, which normally is a quarter. I dug the shallow target out, turned on my headlamp and looked in the scoop. In the bottom of the scoop, there was St Christopher looking up at me. I walked back to the car and took a picture and sent it to Robert. I then called him, and I could tell he was extremely relieved his necklace, and the medal were found, I told him to send me his address, and I’d get it in the mail the next day.

I was curious about the back story concerning the necklace and medal, so I text him. With his permission here’s his story in his own words. “My dad gave that necklace to me when I was 13 (I’m now 25, so 12 years ago). His dad’s mom gave him the same kind of necklace when my dad was around that age too. He wore it at all times. Well, my dad wore his necklace to Wrightsville Beach one year some time in his early-mid-twenties and he lost it in the ocean. Sadly, his mom had passed away between giving him the necklace and him losing it, so it was a really tragic loss for him. My dad ended up getting another one, but he always warned me to not wear mine into the ocean, To this day, I’ve never worn mine in any body of water for that reason. I’m usually extremely careful with it. However, because I wear it all the time, sometimes I forget when it’s on or off. It feels like a part of me. I didn’t realize I had worn it down to the beach on Monday. I was careless when I took it off and placed it in the cup holder of my beach chair. After being on the beach all day, I had forgotten that I put it there. My wife and I started packing up our things, and it must’ve fallen out into the sand right then and there without me realizing. I wouldn’t realize that it was missing until the next morning when we started packing up to go home. Sorry for the long text! There’s a lot to tell being somewhat of a family tradition.”

Lost and found Diamond ring in Whitby Ontario

Received a text from Shauna about her loosing her diamond and gold engagement ring. She lost it over a week ago, in her backyard, while planting her vegetable and flower beds. She had taken her ring off, not to loose it, and placed it in her pant pocket. Unfortunately, she was also using the same pocket to hold her phone. About six hours later, while having taken her phone in and out of her pocket numerous times, she realized her ring was missing. The family spent many hours looking for the ring to no avail. She also tried using a metal detector but it only sounded off fifty percent of the time (tried it once the ring was found). Once I arrived, I was able to find her ring within thirty minutes by one of the vegetable Gardens. Another happy ending. Life is good.

Gold signet ring recovered in Hove

I Received a call from Alex last night asking if I could help recover his fathers gold signet ring they had lost whilst practicing line outs that evening during rugby training in Hove , West Sussex .
I met up with Alex this morning and he showed me the area they had been training on , he told me that he and his dad had spent ages raking the grass the previous evening trying to find the signet ring .
After scanning the area for a few minutes with my detector, I managed to locate the precious signet ring , Alex was amazed I had managed to find it in such a short space of time , another ring recovered thanks to theringfinders.com

Meghan and her husband Chris took the children to Whittier Woods Local Park in Bethesda, Maryland the day before Mother’s Day. One of their kids was playing baseball while the other one was running around in the grass and playing on the tot lot.

At some point, Meghan thought it would be a good idea to take her rings off while applying sunscreen to her younger child. Unfortunately, a couple of hours later, when she reached into her back pocket to retrieve her jewelry, only her diamond wedding band was in her jeans. Meghan’s 1.35 Carat diamond engagement ring with a halo of round diamonds and platinum band consisting of a combination of baguette and round shaped diamonds set on both sides of the bridge…was gone!

The couple searched frantically in the grass, areas near the baseball field and all over the playground’s wood chips. Sadly, at the end of their search time, they came up empty-handed.

Meghan and Chris acquired a metal detector and returned to the park to continue their search efforts. They even placed signs around the tot lot area hoping somebody would turn in the ring if it was discovered amongst the children and play equipment. Once again, all of their attempts to recover Meghan’s lost diamond engagement ring led to no avail.

I was thrilled that the couple contacted me sometime the following afternoon on Mother’s Day. Once I received all of the details, I agreed to meet Meghan out at Whittier Woods Local Park in the late afternoon hours the next day.

Upon arriving, my client took me on a tour as to where she and her family played and walked around. I made sure that Meghan guided me to each and every spot where she sat and or interacted with her younger child while the other one was playing baseball.

I immediately took out my metal detecting gear and began the search. Because there were some little ones playing on the tot lot at the time that I was beginning the hunt for the lost ring, I decided to lay down grid lanes and metal detect all of the grassy areas where the family hung out.

Another reason why I started in the grass was because the wood chips that covered the playground had barely any depth. I observed and concluded that it would have been nearly impossible for a ring to hide itself under such little coverage. Most of the chips were impacted and embedded into the playground surface and not loose enough to hide anything of importance – not even something as small and spectacular looking as Meghan’s ring. My conclusion was that the piece of jewelry most likely would have already been eyeballed by someone and so it was best to start in the grass due to the problem of having to work around the children currently on the tot lot as well as considering the late time of day that I was beginning the search.

I grid searched most of the grassy areas except for three new lanes that I had finished laying down. Instead of scanning that last section, I decided to move over to the playground and retrace / detect all of the areas that my client had pointed out a couple of hours earlier. I scanned all of the equipment where Meghan played with her child, scanning over the wood chips by the swings and then went to multiple other spots that she had pointed out.

To my delight, as soon as I began metal detecting under the monkey bars I got a very promising signal! The numbers that lit up my machine’s screen came in the range of a lady’s platinum ring! As I knelt down to investigate the target, there it was… Meghan’s gorgeous diamond engagement ring! It was completely exposed above the wood chips! Because there was such a shallow level of coverage, my detector coil had lightly brushed across that isolated section actually causing the ring to become visible! I couldn’t believe it! It was almost a miracle that this ring had not been spotted in the last couple of days by a child or an adult!

I was so excited to find Meghan’s ring! Before driving to my clients’ house to unleash the great surprise, I took down all of the “Lost Ring” signs that Meghan and Chris had posted up over the weekend.

My clients were beyond floored that I had recovered their irreplaceable keepsake (which Chris had proposed to Meghan with a few years prior)! When I showed up at their door holding the ring up, they were in complete utter shock! Before I left that evening, the three of us gave thanks to the Lord for helping me assist my desperate clients with finding their special symbol of love! What an amazing time that was… a search never to be forgotten!
