Gold Wedding Ring Found in Odessa, FL

  • from Tampa (Florida, United States)

Item recovered August 26, 2024. Chelsea reached out for help locating her ring after losing it during a water balloon fight in a field adjacent to a church. While helping as a camp counselor, Chelsea forgot to remove the ring and felt it fly off her hand as she was throwing water balloons. She had been back to the location to search, but didn’t have any luck locating the lost ring.

I arrived after work and waited for one of our classic Florida summertime thunderstorms to wind down before setting off into the field. Chelsea gave me the approximate area where she believed the ring was lost and I started a grid pattern in the area. 45 minutes later, there were some small metal items located, but no ring.

I changed directions by 90 degrees and went over the area a second time with no luck. About 90 minutes of searching and it was starting to get dark. I decided to expand the search area and continued until I hit a sweet sounding signal. It was the missing ring and Chelsea was overwhelmed with joy that her ring had been found!

The ring was located nearly 30-40 yards from where I was initially directed. It was a good lesson learned to never give up when at first you don’t succeed!

200th Return by Richard Browne Member of TheRingFinders.com Centerville, MA

February 24, 2025

It was the second warmest day since January 1st and a grate day to clean up some of the winter’s wrath on tree limbs. Dan was in the wooded area next to an old cranberry bog behind his house doing just that. He was carrying a fallen limb to the rear edges of his property when a low hanging branch snagged one of his hearing aids from his ear. After hours of searching, without finding the hearing aid, Dan reached out for help.

A call to Eleanor, at J&E Enterprises, got Dan two useful bits of suggestions. First he was encouraged to call one of TheRingFinders and in the meantime he could try dragging a magnet. Dan called me first. I answered the call and I was on my way. While waiting for me to arrive the search with a magnet was on. Something I had never thought of while searching for any of the 6 hearing aids that I have returned.

As I had done the day before, I adjusted my detector to the specific model hearing aid I was searching for. The area was again less than a 20 foot diameter around the branch. A standard cross hatch search pattern because of the foliage and terrain was about impossible. About 20 minutes passed with many bogus iron alerts from my detector, right tone but wrong numeric reading. A slower, shorter swing of the detector started on the outer  edge of the most probable area that the hearing aid would be in. Low and behold right under the branch that had caused the loss and again, as in yesterday’s find, the hearing aid could not be seen while standing above it. I had to get on my knees and carefully move the foliage that was covering the hearing aid before retrieving it for Dan.

This was my 200th return since I joined TheRingFinders and as I did on the 100th return I wanted to give something special to the owner of the lost item. Unfortunately I did not have the Carpe Diem token with me and I had to return to Dan’s home the next day. The token was designed by a metal detecting friend, Jim Wirth. Sentimental Memories are something that cannot be replaced and I am so fortunate to have so many. Thanks to all that have reached out to TheRingFinders for help and in making Unforgettable Memories.

Maria contacted me about the loss of her house, and wondered if I would be available to help her find some missing items that were left behind. I let her know when I would be free for the search, and we arranged to meet at a local restaurant because her house was in a gated community.

When I arrived I really wasn’t expecting what I saw. The house was partially standing, and it was built with a steel infrastructure which was all over the place. She told me that one of the most important items to find was a diamond engagement ring that had been given to her by her husband who had passed at an early age. she showed me where she last believed it had been, but on the second floor which was now on the first floor. So I began to work. I found many parts of figurines with a couple intact. I also found a bunch of doll arms and legs. I used a reciprocating saw to remove some of the steel beams in order to get at some of the rubble underneath them, and began finding coins. I felt I had found the area where the ring would be, so I kept sifting. I worked that area until I was scraping the floor all over, but no ring. After 5 hours, I had 168 coins, numerous doll arms and legs, and 2 intact chains along with 4 chain fragments.

Maria asked if I could come back to look again in a different area, so we agreed on another day for the search. When I arrived, Maria was already shoveling rubble to be sifted, and I got right to work. I worked for another 3 hours, and we were able to find the ring she really wanted to find as well as 2 others, and 2 earrings. With all of these searches I find that the people I am helping are hurt, very hurt, but not broken. There is a deep resilience in their character that I admire.

I did come back a 3rd time, and was only able to find a few chain fragments.

On a stunning day in Ocean City, NJ, Mackenzie reached out to me. She had been at the beach with her family, but in the joy of the moment, disaster struck – her wedding ring had slipped off and vanished into the sand. Despite finding her engagement ring, the wedding band was nowhere to be seen. I rushed to the scene, getting as much information as possible before arriving. Once I reached the beach, Mackenzie provided a few more details about where she thought the ring might be. I began my search, methodically sweeping my metal detector over the area, then a signal! With a few careful digs, the ring emerged from the sand. The relief and joy were instant. Mackenzie was overjoyed to be reunited with her ring, and the family and onlookers couldn’t help but share in the happiness of the moment. It was a truly special ending to a day that could have been ruined. Instead, it became a story of loss and recovery that they’ll treasure for years to come in Ocean City, NJ.

Lost Silver Ring w/ Topaz Setting Found In The Snow In Hamtramck Michigan

  • from Detroit (Michigan, United States)

Grace Under Pressure….

….With getting engaged on Valentines Day, Grace was moving forward with wedding plans. But somewhere between the house and car her ring that was passed down to her came off her finger. With high sentimental value the stress began to mount when looking thru the ice and snow when she couldn’t find it. The area was in a public parking lane that had lots of tire tracks, ice and a huge snow pile over the curb. One good thing was no snowplow had come by yet. I began to detect the parking lane and was hoping that the ring was there. After a few square feet of grid searching, I got a signal on my MXT metal detector that was in the silver range. Pushing the pin pointer thru the dirty stained snow and ice chunks revealed her ring! She ran from the curb and as I placed the ring in her hand her smile would have melted a glacier!

Lost Keys in the Snow Found in Pontiac Michigan

  • from Detroit (Michigan, United States)

The Keys To Freedom…

…..Come in many ways. For Ray, like most of us, his set of keys was his freedom, but when he lost them in the snow the freedom those keys provided was lost. He faced being locked out of the house and a possible towing charge plus key replacement fee, and the hassle of it all. Using my MXT metal detector I scanned thru the piles of snow he shoveled. A solid signal came thru on the detector and down deep in a snow pile his keys appeared! Now free from the boundaries of the loss Ray can continue to enjoy his freedom!

Lost – Lady’s diamond wedding ring, Palm Coast, Fl – Found with a metal detector!

Brittany and her husband were visiting the Palm Coast area on Valentines Day and while driving along on highway A1A the unexpected happened. As we are all aware of how emotions and feelings can lead us to do and say things that we later regret…that is exactly what happened on this particular day. It was towards evening and thankfully they were not traveling at a high rate of speed when Brittany threw her diamond wedding ring out of the car window and into a grass area along side of the road. Her husband immediately pulled off of the road and into the nearest driveway and the two of them tried to find her ring…but her thrown ring was no where to be found!

Later that night Brittany tried to find help and went online to search for something or someone that could help her in her time of need. It was around 10:30 pm that I recieved her call asking if I could help her and after hearing her story my wife and I decided to make the one hour drive to Palm Coast and meet Brittany and we prayed to God we would be the exact help that she so desperately needed.

Brittany showed us where she “thought” the ring was thrown and I set up some cones and began doing an overlapping grid search of the 500 square foot area. Both Brittany and my wife were using very strong flashlights but the night dew was making everything wet and the grass and leaves glistened and sparkled making it almost impossible to find her lost ring. Along most any road there is allot of buried trash items giving signals that sound very similar to what a gold diamond ring would sound like so I had to investigate each shallow signal just to be sure. After 45 minutes I got a really strong signal that registered shallow and my head light exposed her beautiful lost diamond ring just laying there among the wet leaves and grass! Brittany was ecstatic and so relieved to have her ring back again! A lesson well learned, hey?

How we thank God for allowing us to be a blessing and encouragement to Brittany and her husband and we look forward to helping others who find themselves in need or our help and expertise!

Lost Heirloom Gold & Diamonds Pendant at Ulua Lagoon Ko Olina Resort…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This Gold & Diamonds Pendant hunt began last month on January 19th when Vickie texted me that night about losing it in Ulua lagoon.  She was on the shoreline with her niece and the young girl reached up and accidently pulled on her necklace and a Jade Circle and the Pendant fell into the water.  Vickie was able to see and retrieve the Jade Circle but the Gold & Diamond Pendant was gone.  She was only a car length from the coral rocks on the left side so I immediately started a hunt the next morning.  I covered the area extensively and could not find the Pendant.  I had my buddy Terry hunt and he was unsuccessful too.  Then two days ago on a ring hunt for a Platinum Wedding Band,  I stumbled upon the Pendant in waist deep water.  It was so far away (maybe 20 car lengths from the coral rocks) I was wondering if I found Vickie’s Pendant.  Thankfully, when I got back to my car, after the successful ring hunt, I found a pic on my phone of Vickie’s beautiful Pendant and indeed it was a match.  We were able to meet up yesterday for the return and I got that smile & shaka!  We will never know how the Pendant got to the location it was found.  Aloha to Vickie!

Lost and found car/key chain Peterborough Ontario

  • from Cobourg (Ontario, Canada)

Received a text from Ankit last evening about him loosing his key chain, with all his important keys last evening while snow blowing a driveway. While reviewing security camera footage, he was able to see the key chain falling out of his pocket then the snowblower throwing it out onto the yard. After reviewing the videos and pictures, headed out to his location. Snow had to be over 3 feet deep but I knew that the keys would most likely be towards the surface. About 45 minutes later, got a faint iron signal and found his car/key chain about 6 inches deep into the snow. Ankit was extremely happy and relieved.

Lost gold wedding band found in Peterborough Ontario

  • from Cobourg (Ontario, Canada)

Received a text from Luke last week about him having lost his gold wedding band while knocking down icicles from the roof in his backyard. While doing so, he fell down in the snow which he was pretty certain that’s when the ring slipped off his finger and was lost. I gave him a few pointers on how to use a detector and how to search for it but to no avail. I headed down to his location today and started to search for the ring in deep snow. I eventually found the ring embedded in a couple inches of ice on one of the wooden steps. Luke was extremely happy to be reunited with his wedding band especially on Valentine’s Day.
