Lost 14K White Gold Wedding Band, Found Afton Virginia (Charlottesville)

While vacationing in Ocean City Maryland this past week I received a call from a customer who was trying to locate his wife’s 14K white gold wedding band with diamonds. As I wasn’t due to arrive back in Leesburg until the next day we coordinated for me to make the 2 1/2 hour trip to his home in Afton on Sunday. Stephan did borrow a friend’s metal detector and gave it a valiant attempt, but he was not able to locate the ring.

On Sunday I traveled to Stephan’s home in Afton Virginia..West of Charlottesville, a gorgeous drive through some very scenic mountain areas in Southern Virginia.

Once I arrived Stephan gave me a brief story of how the ring was lost and possibly where he thought it might be. I started my search close to the house hoping the ring wasn’t too far away, we moved a small wood pile out of the way so I could get a nice pathway cleared and I conducted a grid search across the front yard several times, only hitting mostly iron/trash items. There was also a lot of interference in the area n ext to the house so I had to change the frequency settings on the Equinox 800 down to 20khz to get a cleaner signal. After not locating the ring near the home I expanded my search to a field across a small gravel driveway in front of their home. I did three wide grid passes, each about 30/40 yards in length in the field and on the third line hit a nice bang tone of 8 on the detector, as most know this is typically a white gold range. As I knelt down and moved the tall grass out of the way the beautiful white gold ring showed itself to be saved.

 

As I was getting up from the ground, Stephan was coming out of the house. I raised my hand with the ring and he yelled, “you found it!?” …and came running across the front yard, injured leg or not he was trying to run as fast as he could to see the ring. Stephan was so elated that he gave me a big bear hug, this is saying a lot for a guy his size!!

 

Stephan and his wife were ecstatic to have the ring returned and I couldn’t be happier to bring this joy back to them and have the matching set back together.

Cahoon Hollow, Wellfleet Mass Handed Down Lost 14 K Gold Engagement Ring / Wedding Band

Kiera called me yesterday, with a little doubt in her voice, about a ring that was lost by her sister in the surf.  Kiera’s sister Julia had just lost her engagement ring at the beachcomber, at Cahoon Hollow Beach, in Wellfleet, MA she said it was down in the surf where she was dragged out over the rocks, she got swept up, and pummeled in the current, and suddenly realized her ring was gone. They looked for over an hour as the surf was crashing them all over the area. Frantically they were not sure where to turn. Kiera said that the Lifeguard had mentioned that there were a couple of local guys that have found rings there in the past, that she should try them. Sure enough she googled Lost Ring and Richard Browne and My name showed up. Kiera wasted no time and got in touch with me through texting. I immediately called her back, I had her send as many pictures with reference points as possible. She said it was strait down from the sign in the picture, and in knee deep water.

Luck was on her side the next day, the water was not crashing as it was the day of loosing it, and the wind was off shore. Rick & myself got there about an hour before the low tide, 15 seconds into the hunt, I found the beautiful double welded ring, I put it in my pouch for safe keeping till Julia showed up. Needless to say we were all smiles when they showed up, she was very happy to hear that we were successful in recovering it for her. Lost and found Platinum ring in Havelock

Received a phone call from Mark yesterday morning about him loosing his custom design Platinum wedding band while vacationing at a cottage in Havelock last Friday. He was pretty sure he lost it while swimming Friday night, at the end of the dock, which he mentioned that it shouldn’t be any deeper than neck deep. After spending nearly three hours in the water yesterday, metal detecting, no ring to be found and the area described was definitely deeper than expected. Headed back home, disappointed for him, especially with the facts that the search area was full of weeds with thick layer of silt. Worst possible conditions for swinging a coil and finding a ring. It was not looking good to ever recover the ring if it was indeed in the water.

Last evening Mark asked me if I would go back but this time with Scuba gear and metal detect in deeper water, further from the dock. Headed back, geared up and after a few false alarms and about 30 minutes into the dive, I heard a killer signal which turned out to be his ring. The ring ended up being about 25 feet from the dock and at a depth of 12 feet. He did mention that he was doing backstrokes while swimming, which is probably when the ring got flung in deeper water. Mark is a very lucky man that I managed to find his beautiful ring in these conditions. He and his wife are extremely happy and currently driving down from Burlington to pick it up. Another happy ending!

White Gold Engagement Ring

Two weeks ago Rick got a call from Jill, we got together the very early next morning. There was a Hurricane coming that next evening, and time wasn’t on our side. Together we do searches, for quite a few people each year. we really wanted to get this one back to the owner fast, she was newly engaged. This Engagement Ring is very sentimental to Jill. Well after chatting with Jill about where it was lost, and how deep of water, and being hit by a wave, she swore it was just rite there in shallow water on the slope. After 6 hours of search time between both of us, we finally gave in to the thought of it not being found that day… Maybe after the storm? We had also had thoughts of someone else finding it the night before, we had seen some scoop areas on the beach. We had also found out it was posted on local media. Was it found already?

10K White Gold Ring

Rick called me last night two weeks had passed, Rick said lets give it another chance. Success today? Rick and I went rite down to the same spot where we were told it was lost two weeks earlier…. Nothing again after an hour. I said this is crazy, so I wandered over the other side of the Jetty, and as soon as I got into the water,  50 feet down the beach, and knee deep just as Jill said, one lonely signal and there in my scoop it shined like it was lost an hour ago. Wow I couldn’t believe it myself. I went back over  to Rick, yelled Game Over! He said what? I repeated it multiple times till he came out of the water, he looked down at my Caribiner. He said I cant believe you found it way over there… I chuckled, and said it was exactly where Jill said it wasn’t… LOL    After getting back to the truck we called Jill, and I told her I may have something that belonged to her, she asked if I had it… I said yes I believe so, and said can you meet us at the beach. Her reply was I’m on my way, see you in fifteen minutes. As you can imagine, she just couldn’t believe it until it was back on her finger. Sometimes, a Margarita girls night out can make you forget exactly where it was when you last seen it… Bottom line is that it’s back home where it belongs… Congratulations Jill

Lost heirloom gold ring Cobourg Ontario

Received an emergency phone call for a lost ring this evening in Cobourg. I was actually at North Beach provincial park, getting ready to go home after a beautiful day where else, at the beach. Gillian called saying that her daughter Nicole had just lost her grand mother’s wedding ring (Gillian’s mom) while swimming at a beach in Cobourg. Unfortunately, Nicole’s grandma died at a very young age, when Gillian was only 5 years old. Understandably, both ladies were completely devastated by the time I arrived. After a quick introduction and getting facts about how the ring was lost, I quickly got setup and started detecting in the water as the sun was setting and darkness was soon coming. Within 10 minutes, the ring was found. Both Gillian and Nicole cried tears of relief and were extremely happy and relieved that they were reunited with their precious heirloom. Below is Nicole and I, whom insisted I be in the picture with her. Truly another special happy ending!!!

Lost and found Platinum wedding band Lakeshore Beach Sandbanks

Mark posted on Facebook yesterday about having lost his wedding band while at the beach and was looking for help. Luckily, friend of mine put me in contact with Mark. He knew for sure when and how he lost the ring as he saw it fly off his finger while tossing a ball with friends. The main issue was that the ring was lost over two weeks ago and chest deep in the water. Sandbanks beaches (Lake Ontario) are notorious for having sandbanks, which constantly move in and out from shore with the winds and wave action. A day or two sometimes is all it takes to burry the ring in the sand so deeply that it cannot be heard by any metal detector. Luckily for Mark, after an hour of gridding under water in the area where the ring fell off, I heard a very faint signal which turn out to be his beautiful Tiffany & Co Platinum 950 wedding ring. The ring had actually “moved” about 100 feet further down the beach but at about the same depth. Extremely lucky for him that it wasn’t any deeper or worst yet, picked up by another detectorist. Thank you to Heidi for putting me in contact with Mark and allowing for him to be reunited with his gorgeous ring. Another happy ending and I love what I do!!!

Lost and found IPhone 12 in Campbellford

Received a phone call from Sherryl today about how her Husband Ian had lost his IPhone 12 at the municipal boat launch in Campbellford Ontario. As Ian was getting out of the boat and onto the ramp, he tripped and fell into the water and his cell phone slipped out of his pocket. This happened last Saturday. Since then, they’ve had numerous people trying to snorkel and find the phone, in about 12 feet of water with only a visibility of about three feet with no success. With my metal detector and all my Scuba gear, I was able to locate the phone in twenty minutes or so. It was wedged between two boulders. The dark blue case made it difficult to see it but not impossible. Shirley was at top side, with a bag of dry rice anxiously waiting. She was very happy that it had been found since in the case, Ian also had his driver’s license, credit cards and other important items. Another happy ending!!!

Lost white gold wedding band at North Beach Provincial Park Ontario

I got to meet Jose, Patricia and their whole family at North Beach Provincial Park today. While playing volley ball in the water, at about knee deep, Jose noticed his ring was no longer on his finger. The good part was that he was commenting to his friend about both of them wearing their wedding band in the water, shortly before he lost it and indeed, both men had their rings at that point. So, he knew for sure he had lost the ring in the water. After getting orientated, I turned on my Excalibur II and started gridding the area. Had the ring found within 10 minutes. Headed back to shore, grabbed the phone and recorded their reactions. I was so happy to be able to reunite them with their white gold wedding band while the whole family cheered them on. Another story that ends well!!!

Lost Ring Cobourg Ontario…Found!

Received a text early this morning from Keelin. She and her friends went to a local beach in Cobourg Ontario for a late evening swim and camp fire by the shore of Lake Ontario. Fortunately for her, and the recovery of her ring, all the stars lined up as she specifically recalled feeling the ring slip off her finger and at what depth she was while in the water. Met up with Keelin and her dad first thing this morning, and ten minutes later found her ring within 20 feet from where she thought it was lost. Keelin’s fiancé currently lives in the UK and they haven’t seen each other since last January due to COVID. They are scheduled to get married this October, in the UK, and is extremely happy that she will be able to wear her lost and found engagement ring. Watch the video. Another happy ending!

Lost Ring Found in Narragansett Rhode Island

I received a call from Dustin who was vacationing with his family in Narragansett.  While enjoying a day at the beach two days earlier, Dustin realized he had forgotten to take his wedding ring off, so he stashed it in their beach bag.  After returning from the beach, Dustin’s wife emptied the beach bag and shook out the sand in the backyard.  Later that day, Dustin asked his wife if she had his platinum wedding ring. This is when they realized that the ring was in the backyard or had fallen out at the beach. Dustin and his wife searched the grass but had no luck.  I searched the backyard and found the ring in about 10 minutes.  I held the ring up and asked them “how does it feel?”  They couldn’t believe the ring was found and how quickly. I’m so glad I was able to help this nice couple
