Wedding Ring Recovered At Clearwater Beach, Florida

My husband and I got married at Clearwater Beach, Florida in 2014 and came back to visit my old home for our one year anniversary. On a Thursday, we were hanging out on the beach and I decided to go down to take pictures by the water. I placed my ring inside a rose and scooted up closer to the shore to get a nicer view. When I moved up, the ring fell and at that point, I believe the water had come up. I looked around, but could not find it. A lady that was nearby also tried to help me, but we had no luck. I spent the next few hours searching and even came back the next day. I was hoping to find someone with a metal detector, but was unable to both days. I kept faith that somehow it would show up and someone would return it.  After returning back from our vacation, I thought about filing a Clearwater Police report for a missing item online, but first I began to search, “missing rings in Clearwater Beach, Fl”, and that’s when I found Ring Finders! I went to the Suncoast Research and Recovery Club page and sent an email in hopes that someone could help. Stan immediately contacted me and got more information from me. I wasn’t sure if he would find it since it was almost a week later and Clearwater beach is a highly detected area. Stan went exactly a week after I lost it and I was beyond shocked when I looked at my phone and saw the picture of my missing ring in his hand! I was blown away and I am so grateful for Stan and his wife, Linda, for helping me get my lost treasure back. Miracles do happen and I thank all the volunteers at Suncoast Research and Recovery Club for all they do! A big thanks to Stan Flack and Howard Metts for bringing a smile to another couples faces.

College Basketball Championship Ring returned from Clearwater Beach

Derek Claar was swimming at Clearwater beach while on vacation with his wife Ginger and children.  While swimming the gold chain around his neck which held Ginger’s 2003 National College basketball Championship ring broke.  Derek caught the chain but was not able to catch the ring as it fell into the water.  Howard Metts was detecting in the water at Clearwater Beach a week later and found what appeared to be a class ring.  At home he could read a name, Ginger Fanelli and the college name, Mount Aloysius.  Howard and his wife Jeanine googled the name and found that Ginger was on the Mounties college basketball team which won the womens national college basketball championship that year.  He also read that Ginger held a record for points scored.  Jeanine then found through the internet that Ginger had married with a new last name and was able to find a phone number to contact Ginger.  The ring was mailed back to their home in Pennsylvania.   As you can see in the photo Ginger and Derek are quite happy about receiving the ring which they thought was gone forever. Nice work Howard!!!!!!!!!

Wedding Ring returned from Indian Rocks, Florida

Marcus was down from Arkansas with his family for a week of vacation in Florida. He had rented a house on a canal that led to the inland waters of Indian Shores. The house came with two kayaks and Marcus decided it would be fun to try one. He took one down to the dock and launched from the steps. He went about 10 feet, lost his balance and the kayak flipped him into the water. As he was rolling over he felt his wedding band slide off his finger. After he got home again he started looking for some way to get his ring back. He found SRARC on The Ring Finders. We scheduled a hunt and in about 5 minutes the ring was recovered. When we called to tell Marcus we had his ring, he was overjoyed that we had recovered it. It is now on its way to him via US postal service. We would like to see his smile when he opens the mail envelope.

Wedding Ring Set Recovered on Pass-A-Grille Beach, Florida

Right place at the right time for this recovery
***************************************************************************
SRARC member Paul Hill was detecting Pass a Grille Beach when he was told by some swimmers that a young lady had lost her wedding ring set.  Heading that way he saw about 6 swimmers with masks on trying to help her find her rings.  Paul listened to Britney explain that she thought she lost it while swimming in the general area.  Paul got right to work and searched the area around where everyone was.  With no luck, Paul asked Britney if she felt it come off or just realized it was gone? Thinking back she wasn’t positive but it might have come off as she dove into the water.  Paul then asked where her beach chair was located so he could deduce where she would have entered the water.  With things lined up another grid pattern was established.  Working the grid Paul made a few more passes and got close to the shore and heard a slight grunt in about 2 feet of water.  One scoop later the wedding band was found and the engagement ring was found within a foot of that.  Britney’s mom verified that those were it and called her daughter and fiancé that the rings had been found and they can cancel their trip to rent a metal detector.  Britney was so excited to get her rings back as their wedding is planned for the end of July.
SRARC sends best wishes to the bride and groom.

Wedding Ring Lost and Recovered on Treasure Island, Florida

Alex and his wife of one year traveled from Mexico to enjoy a family reunion in Treasure Is., FL.  While playing volleyball it was Alex’s turn to serve.  At the end of his overhand serve he felt his wedding ring come off.  He and many of the reunion got down on their hands and knees to search for the ring.  Now this was not your run of the mill wedding band.  Many family members donated their jewelry to make the wedding band set for the bride and groom.   Devastated, they inquired at the office for any information that may help their cause.  The office happened to have for the number for SRARC.  Alex called Mike Miller and left a message and requesting a call back.  Mike Miller and Paul Hill had just finished detecting Clearwater beach when they received the message.  Being so close by, they headed right down to begin the search.  Upon arrival, Alex showed them the area which he was serving explaining the situation as best as he could.  Paul began the search and was not getting any targets on the surface as it should have been.  Gridding the court, Paul expanded his search to include the opposite side as well.  Still no luck.  Mike, who had been assisting with a pin pointer decided he would go get his detector to help out.  When Mike returned he searched an area passed the volleyball court over a 12 foot sidewalk.  Within 3 minutes Mike had the ring in hand.  Nearly 70 feet from the service line.  Everyone was in shock that it was so far from where it was presumed to be.  Needless to say, the reunion is now ready to resume on a high note.

SRARC wishes Alex and his bride a Happy One Year Anniversary this Saturday.

Service Ring Lost Then Returned on Treasure Island, Florida

Sean was putting his boat back on the lift when he noticed that the lift cable had coiled up on the shaft. As he was working to realign the cable his ring came off his finger and he watched as it quickly disappeared out of site in the water under the boatlift.
A couple of days later his wife Sandra found the “Ring Finders” website and contacted SRARC and spoke to Tom Jones. She explained to him that this ring had been given to her husband in 1988 by the company he worked for and it was the top award given for that year. Each time he won the same award after that the company would take the ring in and add a diamond on it. The ring contained 8 diamonds.
After hearing this Tom knew that the ring had to found and returned and he told her that the best chance to find the ring would not be until the next weekend to take advantage of an extremely low tide during daylight hours.
On June 14, Tom went to the site and measured the water depth at high tide and it was over 9’ deep. He decided to come back on Monday 6/15 and dive the site.
Tom and Joe Szemer arrived Monday to find a good low tide. Once Tom got in the water he quickly realized the he would have to dive for the ring. They brought in a compressor and regulator and Tom dropped in and anchored himself to the bottom and started hunting. He found that the bottom consisted of 10” of gelatinous silt with a hard sand bottom. After 10 minutes searching the bottom with his detector he got a good target and started feeling through the muck until he found the ring. Tom returned to the surface wearing the ring on his pinkie finger showing it to Joe who in turn gave Sean and Sandra the thumbs up signal.
They could not believe that the ring had been found and his memento of 28 years of service was back on his finger.
That was quite the recovery…Nice job Tom and Joe!

Engagement Ring Lost Then Returned at Bahia Beach, Ruskin, Florida

Melissa decided to that the kids to Bahia Beach to get them out before it got too hot. As she was packing things up to leave for lunch she went to the water edge to rinse off some beach toys. After packing all their things away she notice that her engagement ring was missing from her finger. She went through the beach bags, clothing and towels but the ring was not there. She began searching the sand but not luck finding the ring. She called her husband to break the bad news. He immediately got on the computer and found Theringfinders. Tom Jones called Melissa who was still at the beach and arranged to meet her there.

Tom arrived and started hunting the water area where Melissa said she washed off the toys which would be the most likely spot to lose the ring. After 20 minutes hunting and no ring, Tom started searching the dry sand from where her beach chair was down to the water. After two passes Tom looked over to Melissa and said, “Wow! You weren’t kidding when you said it was a nice big ring. At that time she ran over and broke out in tears of joy and said, “You don’t know how much this ring means to me.” She then gave Tom a big hug.
