Lost Ring at the Beach…Found and Returned

I was metal detecting at the beach when a young man came running up to me with some of his friends. Noah had been having fun with his friends in the beach sand, and then realized his ring that his mother had given him was gone. He didn’t know what to do because the sand had swallowed it up, and although they searched for it, they were not able to find it. He looked around, and saw me down by the water metal detecting, and realized I might be able to help. I told him everything was in his favor, and we would find his ring.

Noah took me right to the area where they were playing around, and explained what had happened. I began my search, and found that we had to widen the search area. It wasn’t more than 3 minutes, and I had Noah’s ring in my scoop, a ring that was very sentimental, because of its origin, his mother. Was glad to be able to make his day.

Jewelry lost In West Los Angeles,CA. house for two years .. found

Two years ago Susan had asked her mother if she could leave some of her jewelry at her parents home because they had a better alarm system. Both Susan and her mother, Molly each put their jewelry pouches in the same box of cleaning supplies underneath a bathroom sink.
Last year Susan went to retrieve her jewelry and the box was not there. It had been replaced with spare lightbulbs by her father. No one in the house remembered throwing the cleaning supply box in the trash. Susan’s mother wasn’t sure if she had placed the jewelry in a different location. The worst possibility was that the jewelry had been thrown out because the box was no where to be found.

After a year of searching the house for other possible hiding places or hoping that Molly would remember if she had hidden the jewelry somewhere else, it was looking like the sentimental keepsakes could possibly be in a landfill somewhere miles away.

A couple weeks after suggesting to Susan how to search the house, she called saying they were overwhelmed with unsuccessfully searching the house. She convinced me to come to the house Tom help her and her mother.

When I arrived at the house I met Molly and she began by telling me the importance of her jewelry that were gifts from relatives in the Far East many years ago. We went upstairs where she showed me the original hiding place. She showed me several rooms and closets where the two pouches of jewelry could have been relocated.

I had a industrial search light and a hand held pinpointer detector that could be used indoors. My first thought was that the items may be on a high shelf. After an hour and a half of systematic searching two rooms and starting in a large closet,  I found a plastic shoe box marked candles on a high shelf. When I opened it there was a small red box containing a gold necklace under the candles. When I pulled it out there were two other small boxes and the pink jewelry pouch that Susan had described to me. I went down stairs, asking Susan to come check something for me. Boom!! She exploded with Joy, her rings and other sentimental items she forgot about were safe.

I continued the search in that large walk-in closet. Fifteen minutes later passing my pinpointer detector by a bag of shoes I got a signal. Reaching in the bag, I felt a rolled up plastic pouch that was definitely Molly’s jewelry. It was unbelievable that both Susan and Molly’s items were found in a relatively short time. There was so many other rooms to search. Finally after a year of mental agony haunting everyone in the family, we had closure to the mystery of what happened to the jewelry.

Another special day for me to meet both Susan and Molly, also a pleasure to help them.

Lost Platinum and Diamond Ring at Venice Beach, CA. ..Proposal Gone Wrong

Troy had planned his proposal to Karina for months. It was a romantic evening at Venice Beach, CA. near the pier. While sitting on the sand preparing for the big moment Troy had been fiddling with the ring box nervously waiting for the perfect moment. He got down on his knees to present the ring to Karina and upon opening the box it was empty. He was crushed! The beautiful platinum/ diamond engagement was no longer in the ring box.

Both Troy and Karina spent hours sifting through the sand with their fingers. They slept on the beach all night guarding the location. When Troy google searched to find TheRingFinders he called me from the store where he had planned to purchase a metal detector. I told him not to waste his money. I would be able to meet him within an hour. Our possibilities of finding the ring was good if he stayed at the location the ring was lost.

After showing up to hear his story it was a matter of minutes till I was able to find the beautiful diamond/platinum engagement ring. Karina had not seen it, so Troy decided to save that special moment till later.
They both were grateful and relieved to have the ring recovered.

Lost Wedding Ring in Sand at Newport Beach, CA. – Found

Eddie called me this morning asking for my help to find his Tungsten wedding ring possibly lost in the sand at the Newport Dunes RV Resort. I got excited because I was close enough to walk to his location within 10 minutes.

Eddie and I met at a the children’s play area on the sand. That is where he told me, he realized his ring was missing. Before that he had been several different places on the beach. One place was where he had crashed his bike on the sand and the other place was where he had been throwing a frisbee.

I started to eliminate the Totlot (play area) first. It is hard to stay positive when you hear about so many possibilities where he had been. I had a little electrical interferences to begin with and there was a lot of metal posts in the play area that could cover up a signal of the ring.

After a couple hours of searching, I went back to get a larger scoop to move the sand away from the metal posts. I also changed out  my detector to one with a higher frequency coil. Returning to the play area where there was masking possibilities. Within the first 15 minutes I had Eddie’s wedding band in my scoop. He had already given up, returning to his RV. So it doubled his surprise when I showed up to return his ring. He had an big smile and his wife told me how I had made his day.. Helping people find their precious sentimental keepsakes makes my life special. It is awesome to use my time, experience and equipment in such a worthwhile endeavor.

Wedding Ring Lost Christmas Eve at Newport Beach, CA…Found and Joyfully Returned.

I was relaxing at home Christmas Eve afternoon when I received a call from Yogi. He was on vacation from Houston, TX to visit with family for the Holidays. He had lost his wedding ring at the beach while throwing a football to his family members. They had been there earlier in the day when it happened. They searched for the ring but could not find it. They talked of renting a metal detector, but it was Christmas Eve. One of the family members searched the internet, and found The Ring Finder’s web site where they located me. Yogi told me that he would meet me at the beach, and I told him I would be on my way.

When I got to the beach, I walked out and met with Yogi. He showed me how they had marked out the area of where he believed the loss to have occurred. The good thing was that he had been throwing away from the water, so I knew there would be a better chance of a recovery. I began a grid, and worked my way up and back getting a few faint signals, I dug them, but they were not fruitful. I then narrowed my search to a specific area, and made a few more passes, and on the turn of the last pass I got a good strong signal and dug again. There in the bottom of my scoop was Yogi”s ring, the 24K gold band gleaming in the sunshine. I held it up while he was taking pictures of his family. He did not notice at first, but the rest of the family saw the ring and began clapping and shouting for joy which caught Yogi’s attention. He looked up, and with a great big smile came over and accepted his ring. What a joy it is to restore someone’s joy to them.

I was spending time with my family during the holidays in 2017 on Newport beach, and happened to be tossing a football with my cousins.  About an hour later, I noticed my wedding ring was missing.  I had a feeling that it happened during the football toss.  I had mentioned it to my wife about me misplacing it, she was not too thrilled.

My cousin and I rushed back to the spot, but couldn’t locate the ring.  He pulled up a site called Ring Finders on the web, and told me to call. White Gold Wedding Ring Lost at Redondo Beach, CA…Found and Happily Returned.

Yesterday I received a call from Cathy, she was asking for help in finding her husband David’s wedding ring at the beach. They had been there the day before in the afternoon, and sometime when applying sunscreen, his ring went missing. They looked, but were unable to find it, or remember exactly where they had been sitting. Cathy found me on The Ring Finders web site, and called. I was able to go right away, and they were at the location, which was going to be a big help.

When I got there Cathy met me and walked me down to the area she believed the loss to have occurred. I took one look at the beach, and my heart immediately sank. The beach had the tell tail sign of having been cleaned by the county sifting machine not the rake, smoothed beach with tire tracks. So the first thing I did was to inform Cathy that because of the beaches condition, the prospects did not look well for a successful search, but told her that there is always hope, and I would conduct the search none the less. David came over not long after and using the pictures he had taken when they were there tried to narrow down the area where they had been sitting. He showed me the pictures, and then said he thought he had remembered a red piece of plastic that was on the beach being the same one that they had been next to the day before. Looking at the pictures, the pattern in the sand from the sifters looked the same as they did now. Could it be that they had skipped a day, and not many people had visited that area since yesterday, I was encouraged, and began my search. One pass, two, three, four, bobby pins, bottle caps, a piece of foil, a penny, and then on pass five, a good solid signal, one scoop, and there it was David’s white gold ring. I held it up towards where they had been sitting, and they came right over. Cathy gave me a hug, and David shook my hand, both very happy to be able to hold David’s ring again, and see it again where it belongs. Another happy couple, and a great day!

Gold Cross With Diamonds Lost in Redondo Beach, CA…Found.

I received a call from Erica today regarding her 6 year old daughter’s cross. It seems that as she was bringing her daughter home from school, her daughter removed her necklace that held the cross that Erica’s sister had given her daughter at her baptism over 5 years before. Erica had just recently allowed her daughter to start wearing the cross, and because she had received a necklace from her school mates, and she had been admiring it, somehow the necklace with her baptismal cross came loose. There was also another gem on the necklace which they were able find, but unable to locate the cross. We arranged to meet as soon as we both could get to the area.

When I pulled up Erica was waiting for me right where they had found the first gem. I got ready, and began searching. I found a nail, and there were some deeper items but no cross. Erica began to backtrack, and we worked the area going back, more deep items, a ball bearing, but no cross. The one thing I was able to do was to eliminate the most obvious possibilities, and mentioned to her that sometimes we have to think outside of the box. As I was scanning a patch of grass Erica came up to me excited that she had found the cross. It was over 100 feet from where she had originally thought it to be, and was lying on the painted line of the crosswalk; yellow gold on a yellow crosswalk, diamonds down, a very tricky target indeed, totally out of the box. She told me that she would never have looked that far away if I had not eliminated the areas she thought for sure it was lost in. It was a pleasure to see her joy restored.

Lost Diamond Engagement Ring at Horse Stables in Chino, CA. .. Found

Maureen’s daughter Lauren had come down to Chino, Ca. from Sacramento to visit her mother and to move her horse from the boarding stables. After a whole day of cleaning the stall and moving the tack box Lauren realized her white gold and diamond engagement ring was missing from her finger.

They spent the weekend searching around the stall with no success. Lauren had to return to Sacramento, CA. Maureen went to a sporting goods store purchasing a metal detector. Several people helping to search for the ring attempted to use the detector unsuccessfully.

Maureen was given my information from somebody that found TheRingFinders website.
I drove 40 miles to Chino to meet Maureen at 2 pm. When I arrived we discussed what happened the day of the loss. There was a 10 ft. sq. area where they removed the tack box, then she had 3 trash bags full of loose alpha hay and the last place would be where they had hauled the horse manure. It made sense to start in the area where the tack box was as I was going to save the manure pile for last. (I’ve searched worst locations)

Turned on my XP Deus and set it up to deal with nails and other non ferrous metals. Two passes into my grid, a nice signal and a beautiful diamond engagement ring underneath an inch of dirt and hay particles. I was as surprised as Maureen. She looked at me saying they had searched that location many many times by hand, rake and a metal detector. A big smile and hugs of gratitude, then we called her daughter telling her the good news.

Another special ring recovery and a reminder to me that “I Will Try Anywhere”, that’s what helps to make miracles happen.

Lost Palladium Ring at Roadside Turnout near Bakersfield, CA.

Shelley contacted me early Wednesday the day before thanksgiving, one of the busiest
travel days of the year. Her husband, Andrew had lost his ring the night before as they were on a road trip for the holiday weekend.

They believed that he may have lost it when they stopped at a roadside turn out. Andrew didn’t feel the ring slip off but he did notice his ring missing a half hour later when they stopped at a fast food place near Coalinga, CA.

I asked a few questions about the location. Shelly said it was just a small turnout that had 4 or 5″ of soft dirt. It was dark, making it hard to remember any landmarks. Also, they didn’t know the name of the exit off the I-5 north.

We both went to google earth app to see if the exit could be located. We found one exit 105 miles from my place. I was able to get there by 1pm and after sending them photos we though this was the place. A thorough grid search was unsuccessful. I could only suggest they recheck their car.

Fast forward 3 days later, Shelly texted me saying on their return trip,  they located the exact turnout where they believe Andrew lost his Palladium wedding band. It was 25 miles north of where I searched Wednesday before thanksgiving.

Sunday I drove 130 miles to the turn off with the very exact landmarks and photos that Shelly gave me. Immediately after parking my car I could see finger drag marks in the soft silty dirt. It looked like an easy find, if the ring was there. You never know if it’s there, when the person doesn’t feel the ring come off.

After 2 hours and just looking at the last few minutes before calling it quits. Boom!!! Andrew’s ring ..
It was a long drive home with the holiday traffic and I was able to drop the ring off at Shelly and Andrews place on the way. It was a another great experience meeting them and returning the ring.

Wedding Ring Lost at Park Tot Lot in Studio City, CA…Found and Happily Returned.

Nir called last Saturday night. He explained how he had taken his daughter to the local park, and was pushing her on the swing when a metal piece of the swing caught his ring and pulled it off of his finger. All in a second the ring that was custom made in Israel for his wedding, was gone. He and his wife searched for the ring in the sand for over an hour, but were unable to find it. I told him I would be there as soon as traffic would allow, and was on my way.

When I got to the park there was no lighting and it was very dark. I got out of the truck and then Nir called out. We met, and he pointed to the area we were going to search. I got my headlight on, and we headed over to the tot lot. He showed me what happened, and I proceeded to search. The spot was pretty clean of metal except a bit of iron here and there, but I wasn’t hearing what I was looking for. It wasn’t until I started searching the adjacent swing that I received the signal I was looking for. I put in my scoop, and inside was a very good looking ring, I pulled it out showing Nir, and he was very delighted. It seems as though the ring was sent flying in the opposite direction, and to the side of where they had envisioned it having traveled, so as always, we need to search out of the box. What a happy evening for Nir and his wife. It was great meeting and being able help him that night.

This is my story
On Saturday, 11/19/2017, at 4:00 PM, I went with my wife and my daughter to the park. As I rocked my girl on the swing, my wedding ring was pulled from my finger and fell into the sand.
After extensive searching and lots of help from good people, the loss was not found and I had to accept fate.
The evening came and I decided that this ring was too important to me and I was not going to give it up so easily.
I started looking online with a professional who comes with a metal detector and the first person who intrigued me was Steve Smith who answered me on the phone right away.
I told him the story and asked how much his service would cost me.
Steve answered that I could pay as much as I think fit. I was in in shock from his answer! He said that in any case he would come to help me even if I did not pay him at all!
I really wanted him to find my wedding ring.
We met in the park at six in the evening. It was already dark. Steve would get organized quickly and after 20 seconds the loss would be found !!! And I was very happy
I met a charming person who wants to help with all his heart!
