  • from Chicago (Illinois, United States)
Contact:

Received a call from a man in Wilmette Illinois, he lost his wedding band when he threw a ball for his dog.

There was about 40ft of very heavy brush that had to be searched, almost impossible for a metal detector.

I searched as long as I could with a detector then switched to a pinpointer, took 2-1/2 hours but

finally found it with the pinpointer.  He was a very happy camper!!

Lost wedding ring in Oregon found with metal detector

  • from Oregon City (Oregon, United States)

Kyle sent me a message a couple of weeks back, asking if I was willing to search for his wedding ring that had been lost in his yard for the past couple of months. I was out of town vacationing that week, and Kyle was gone the following week. Since the ring was likely in his yard, it was not a time critical search. He said he would reconnect with me later.

Fast forward about two weeks. Kyle reconnected with me, and I asked him to describe how he had lost his ring. He said he had been on his front porch one afternoon and saw a squirrel in the yard. He had been dealing with squirrels tunneling under the porch, so he grabbed a small chair and threw it, hoping to frighten it away. Unfortunately, his ring slipped off at the same time, vanishing to parts unknown. He was very confident it was somewhere in the front yard, or maybe in the neighbors yard. Kyle had to be at work, but his parents would be at the house, babysitting his young son.

I arrived and met Kyle’s father, who had been helping to look since the ring had been lost. He had even rented a metal detector, but he said it just made noise everywhere he had searched. Once I fired-up my detector, I found the first issue they had encountered. There was a huge amount of interference, likely due to the nearby houses and wiring running across the area. There was also a low, galvanized metal fence, metal landscaping trim, and a section of river rock. All can play havoc on a metal detector. I made adjustments on the Manticore and started searching the front yard. There were a few promising signals, but they all registered too deep. I moved over into the neighboring yard and began searching. Nothing until I moved a bit further from the likely area, where I received a promising signal. Using my foot, I kicked back the grass and still saw nothing. Using my pinpointer, I found the item, scraped a bit of dirt, and saw the ring. I went to retrieve my phone to take pictures of the find, and as I started back, Kyle’s father and young son were on the porch. I asked the boy if he wanted to help find his dad’s ring, and we went to the neighbors yard and I handed it to him.

Lost Tungsten Ring Found Inside Car in Detroit Michigan

Treasure Trunk…..

Those words always make me think of a pirate treasure chest loaded with booty. Unfortunately, this hunt was different. It began when James was hauling items from one yard sale to another, a de-cluttering of sorts with some friends. When nighttime came and they were all sitting around a bonfire, James noticed his ring missing. The next day I started a grid search on the grounds where he was loading items into bags and boxes and followed the path he took to the car. No metal signals came thru on my MXT metal detector. I started to wonder if the ring was inside a bag or box, but he said that none of his friends said anything after emptying them. So, a vehicle search began. nothing inside the car was found but when I moved the panel covering the spare tire in the trunk there his ring was hiding under it! James couldn’t believe it was there! Truly a case of less is more!

He Spiked it to Win It….

But during a short break to celebrate, Santhosh noticed his gold ring missing. With the court due back is session shortly for a final game, he sat out of bounds and called me. I arrived and both teams relocated to another court to allow me full access to search where Santhosh was playing. Grid searching with my MXT metal detector with the bigfoot coil covered the ground fast. As I closed in on an area near the net I got a nice clear signal. Reaching down thru the grass revealed Santhosh’s gold ring. Holding it up in victory his family came running to see it. Even tho his team lost without him, he felt recovering his ring was the “set” of a lifetime!

Cell Phone Recovered In Park , Forked River NJ, Recovered By Edward Trapper, NJ Ring Finder

NJ ring Finder

I received a call from Bill regarding a lost cell phone at one of the local parks. He had spent the day enjoying the outdoors, but when he returned home, he realized his phone was missing. As most people know, losing a cell phone can be a nightmare — not just because of the cost, but because of all the important information, photos, and contacts stored inside.

Bill reached out to me, hoping I could help since he wasn’t in the area and had important business to take care of. I told him I’d be happy to head over and take a look. When I arrived, I started my search in the general area where he had been sitting earlier in the day.

The grass was extremely tall due to the recent stretch of rainy weather, which had delayed mowing in the park. I began my search, knowing that a phone usually sits on top of the grass but can easily disappear in tall overgrowth. After about 25 minutes of careful searching, I received a strong signal — and there it was! The phone was completely hidden in the long grass.

Luckily, I recovered it before the park staff came through with the mowers. If they had cut the grass first, the phone would have been destroyed and all his data lost — much of which wasn’t backed up to the cloud.

Another great recovery and a perfect example of why it pays to make a quick call to Edward Trapper, the NJ Ring Finder.

Lost Wedding Ring Recovered Woodbury Minnesota

I received a call from Mike about his wife losing her wedding ring. Losing a ring can be very traumatic, though Mike stayed calm and started some research on how to find a missing ring. He came upon theringfinders.com and started reading about all the recoveries made. Mike gave me a call and asked if I could help. His wife was out watering the plants in the backyard and cleaning up after their dog. When she got back in the house and started to wash her hands, she noticed only her engagement ring was on her finger and the wedding band was missing. These cases are tough when the person has no clear knowledge of when the ring came off. It could have been while leaving work, in her car, in the house or in the yard. I ask many questions to try and narrow the search as much as possible. Both Mike and his wife were pretty sure the ring fell off in the backyard while doing chores. As I let everyone know up front, if the ring is in the yard, I’ll find it. If it’s not there, we can start looking other places such as in her car. I have found many rings hiding under the seats and in little crevices  in a car. They hide incredibly well. We all went to the back yard and she showed me exactly where she was watering and cleaning up. I started a grid search of the yard to cover every square inch. It only took 10 minutes or so and my Minelab Manticore gave me the beautiful gold tone. I knelt down with my pinpointer in the thick grass and there it was!!! It’s such a great feeling to find these lost valuables. Truly glad I could help out.

Where the Water Meets the Sand……

Was the partial voicemail left by Haida who texted next that she and a friend were picking up beach shells and driftwood when her ring fell off her finger. It was a very special ring, one that her sister had just presented to her for graduation. Getting too dark to search further, she went home and was hoping that her sister didn’t notice the ring missing. We met the next morning and Haida with her friend relocated where they remembered being. I noticed patterns on the sand where the tides gently rolled across the sand overnight. I began a grid search with my MXT metal detector at the water’s edge. Working in towards shore I sank into the sand almost a foot deep, it was very loose with rough edged granules. Getting a good signal, I started to sift thru the sand with my pin-pointer metal detector and felt it buzz next to my hand. Slowly bringing the scoop of sand up Haida’s ring revealed itself! Haida and her friend were up on solid ground with their backs turned so I just stood there holding the ring up. When they turned around, I never saw anyone run as fast to get their ring! Thinking it was lost forever Haida was extremely happy that it wasn’t, and now she’ll always stay in good standing with her sister through every high and low tide.

Lost Wedding Ring Recovered Minnesota Metal Detecting

Pam was out in front of her condo doing a little fall clean up. She was removing the leaves from the shrubs when she felt her diamond wedding ring fall off her finger. She knew it couldn’t have gone far, though she, her husband and some neighbors searched for hours with no luck. She went on-line and searched for helped, coming across theringfinders.com and she gave me a call. We set up a time for the next day and I met her & her husband in front of her building. She showed me exactly what happened and I assured her, if her ring is in this 20′ X 20′ area, I’ll find it. Over 40 years of metal detecting, I think I’ve got this down to a science :O) –

It took about 1 minute and I received that beautiful gold tone through my Minelab Manticore headphones. I took out my pin-pointer and found her ring under some leaves and thick grass.

So glad I could reunite you with your wedding ring Pam. It was nice meeting and chatting with both of you and I will be checking out Perch lake. It is a non-motorized lake, though I can use my electric trolling motor…

Recovered engagement ring at Sebastion Inlet State Park

  • from Melbourne Beach (Florida, United States)

I got a text from Mike Mcinro a fellow ring finder who had referred me to Melanie.  Mike was unable to do  the search and I was a lot closer. I texted Melanie and met her and her fiance the next day. I had to get  permission seeing that metal detecting is prohibited. The park ranger was happy to let me use my equipment.

While they were belly boarding the ring slipped off.  They had a pretty good idea of where it was and    stayed for a few hours keeping me company. There RV was in the park so they had to leave. . I widened my search area and found the ring 4.5 hours later. The whole time searching I was able to enjoy matinees and dolphins swimming in the inlet. I texted them and they turned around in there motor home and met me. We were all very happy it ended well.
