Lost Tungsten Ring Found in Dexter Michigan

Fast-Forwarding……

From the summer of 2024 to summer of 2025, Austin found it hard to believe that the year had passed so quickly. While him and the family enjoyed the new house, it was time to move again but around a year ago his wedding ring went missing. With 2 weeks left to vacate the house he often paused-rewound-replayed the events over the last year musing over where it may be. When I arrived, he had 2 locations he had a good vibe about. One was in an area where he was picking up the children’s toys for the winter and the other was in the neighbor’s yard while he was helping them install rabbit fence around a garden. I selected Track 1- “toys” and started grid searching with my MXT metal detector but all I heard was hissing/popping/crackle sounds thru my headphones from bad ground. Selecting Track 2 “rabbit fence” I started to metal detect the area and got a sweet-sounding tone thru the headphones. Digging down an inch revealed that the sweet melodious tune I heard was from Austin’s tungsten ring! As he reached down to pick up the ring, he was thrilled that we cued up the right track and it wasn’t just his imagination.

Barking Up the Wrong Tree…..

While Josh was walking his dogs down a trail, the dog leashed to his right hand bolted after a squirrel that zoomed across the trail. Taken by surprise, the force pulled Josh’s balance off and he fell to the ground. The leash came off his wrist and the dog raced to the tree jumping up and down convinced the squirrel was still around. Meanwhile, Josh managed to get to his feet and got control over the other dog who wanted in on the action. Finally, the 3 of them continued on the trail. A few hundred feet was travelled when Josh noticed his ring missing. Going back to the area where the melee occurred, he couldn’t see his ring, and with dusk setting in they went back to the car. I started a grid search with my MXT metal detector where Josh remembered the incident had taken place. Checking both sides of the trail revealed nothing but as I got near the base of the tree, I got a good signal, and by the sound and meter number could only mean on thing,,,,Josh’s ring! When he reached down and picked it up, we recalled how bummed out the dog must have felt about not getting the squirrel, but Josh was seriously happy that we were on the right trail and got to the root of the real matter!

A Fist Pump Serve…..

….was all Dennis could hope for as he spiked the ball down to score the winning point on the volleyball court as darkness fell upon the game. With a successful win the players congratulated one another with high 5’s and danced around on the court. After Dennis got home he noticed his ring missing. Rushing back to the court he looked around in the dark with no luck. On site he showed me what went on. I had 3 places the ring could be. Either side of the court or the opposite side of the court out in the thick grass. I elected to start in the area he was standing when the final serve was given. My MXT metal detector was wanting to score but gave no signals until I was right under the net. A very nice signal came thru. Pushing thru the sand with my pin-pointer metal detector revealed his ring! Dennis was totally surprised that the ring was there and felt even more victorious that this meeting at the net scored another memorable victory of a different kind that will last a lifetime.

Lost and found diamond wedding ring Cobourg Ontario

Received a text last evening from Terry about him loosing his Diamond wedding band while at Cobourg beach yesterday afternoon. While wrestling with his son, in waist deep water, he felt his ring slip off his finger. We decided to meet at the beach right away to find his ring and not wait til the following day as there are many detectorists looking for lost jewelry, especially after a weekend. Terry was pretty sure he could get me within a 20×20 feet area where the ring had slipped off. Unfortunately, the beach and water looks quite different in total darkness. After an hour or so of gridding the area, took a break and Terry infoed me he had to get back home for work the next day. I decided to stay and keep looking. Another hour into the hunt, and after jewelry targets including a ring, I finally found his beautiful ring. I drove to his home and returned his ring. He was extremely happy and very emotional to be reunited with his ring. Another great recovery. Life is good!!!

Lost Rose Gold Ring Found in Clarkston Michigan

The Ranch…

…Was always one of Colin’s favorite places to work at. While just finishing up spreading some pine mulch he took a shortcut thru a corral and decided to jump over it. Landing awkwardly, he dusted himself off and headed to his vehicle and left for the day. After arriving home, he felt his ring missing. Quickly checking inside and outside the vehicle revealed no ring. Once on site we walked towards the corral only to find a bull roaming around where we needed to metal detect. I told him I didn’t bring a matador costume and asked if he had one to use while I metal detected. Laughingly he said no, but he would get someone to put the bull into another area for a few minutes. While the bull was being dealt with, I started to metal detect the area outside the corral, but no signals came thru. Entering the corral the restrained bull was watching us from afar, snorting, stomping its hooves and swinging its head around. Quickly grid searching I got a good solid signal, and my pin pointer metal detector narrowed it down. Moving some trampled dirt around revealed Colin’s stunning rose gold ring. With his back to me I yelled Charge! and as he whirled around thinking the bull got loose, he saw me holding up his ring and said… Now that’s really taking the bull by the horns! Ole!

Lost and found Diamond and emerald platinum ring in Madawaska Ontario

Today’s excursion took me to beautiful Madawaska area. Received a text from Emily yesterday afternoon about her loosing her custom made engagement ring, while vacationing with her whole family at a cottage near Madawaska. She was swimming in about 10’ of water when disaster struck. Her beautiful emerald/diamond platinum ring slipped right off her finger. Quick thinking, a couple of guys grabbed a buoy, a rope and a rock and marked the approximate location where she was when the ring fell off. After multiple attempts at snorkeling/diving, they could not locate ring. After arriving and getting situated, got suited up on my Scuba gear and with he help of my underwater metal detector, I started searching for her ring. Unfortunately, what was supposed to be a sandy bottom, turned out to be your typical Ontario lake condition with silt. Once the silt at the bottom gets stirred up, visibility went to zero. But, with patience and proper gridding, thirty minutes later, I was able to find her ring for her. Emily’s reaction was priceless. Another happy ending. Life is good!

Lost and found gold wedding band in Scugog Lake Ontario

Today’s travel took me to Lake Scugog. Received a text from Doug this morning about his son having lost his gold wedding band while vacationing at a cottage on Scugog lake. Carson was swimming with his dog and while trying to pick him up, he felt his ring slip off his finger in about 5’ of water. His ring was custom made, with gold from his grand father’s ring. The good news is that he had a good idea where the ring slipped off and the bottom had barely any weeds and not too much silt to contend with. Was a quick recovery, perhaps fifteen minutes, and Carson was extremely happy to get his ring back on his finger. Another happy ending. Life is good!

Lost Titanium Dental Post Found in Brighton Michigan

Bob’s Got His Smile Back……

While out doing yard chores Bob went into an allergic sneezing frenzy. Falling to the ground he eventually was able to stand up and went into the house to get a cool drink. While enjoying cooling down he noticed his dental post missing. He ran back out and looked around but couldn’t see it and wondered where it went. While on the phone I said it was me Vs. the tooth fairy. While laughing he said he’d rather have his dental post back instead of money under his pillow. On site I started a grid search in the area where he remembers falling down. The ground was very clean with no junk signals. About 10 minutes into the search, I got a good signal and detector meter read of a very small, shallow item. Moving the grass around revealed Bob’s dental post compressed into the ground, probably from him walking or falling onto it he said. Happy he was to get his smile back and happy that the tooth fairy won’t be visiting tonight!

Lost and found wedding and engagement diamond rings in Rice Lake Ontario

Today’s travel took me to Beautiful Rice Lake Ontario for a wedding band and diamond engagement rings. Received a text from Steve this morning about Robyn loosing her rings last night while having a swim at their cottage in about 4’ 1/2 of water. After all the usual questions, I gathered all my gear and headed down their way. Once there, Steve was very detailed about when and where Robyn felt her rings come off. However, with years of metal targets in the area, under water, it made it somewhat challenging. After forty five minutes or so, I finally was able to see her gorgeous rings in my scoop, which I promptly handed to Steve to give to Robyn. She was extremely happy which made another great happy ending. Life is good!

Lost Silver Cross w/ Diamonds Found in Ann Arbor Michigan

  • from Detroit (Michigan, United States)

A Gift from a Friend……

…..was something Kwame was not expecting. For being a person who wore no jewelry he was totally taken by surprise when presented with a silver cross w/ diamonds. Lots of his friends and family thought it complemented him and completed his style. But one day he was in a volleyball tournament and right after a huddle and play began the next thing he knew was the cross was missing! Nearing dark, he was able to find the chain that held the cross, but the cross itself went unrecovered. I started a grid search with my MXT metal detector and came across a few junk items. Quite a distance away from where he found the chain I got a very nice signal with the metal detector underneath some heavy looking footprints in the sand. Moving a few inches of sand revealed Kwame’s silver cross! His jaw dropped in amazement as he saw it in my hand! His friend didn’t know it, but now it’s back on where it belongs and can continue to be displayed with pride!
