Almon contacted me in the morning about his lost wedding ring. He had lost it the day before at the beach, and was hoping I could do a search for him. I was available, and let him know I would leave as soon as possible. He let me know that he was unable to meet me for the search, but sent me great coordinates in order to do the search.

I got down to the beach in good time, and before the crowds appeared to enable me to do a thorough search of the area. I went right to the area that Almon had given me, and started my grid. I continued for a while, then decided to send him a photo of where I had searched. He pointed out an area in the photo that I should concentrate on, so I went to that spot and continued. After about 5 passes and multiple pieces of trash metal I got his ring in my scoop. I sent him a text to let him know the good news, and we arranged a time to meet after he got off of work. He was very happy to get his ring back especially knowing that this year was his 10th wedding anniversary.

Neill called about his lost ring. He had been throwing a ball with friends when during a throw he felt his ring come off of his finger. It was a custom ring he had made in Japan, so it had significant sentimental value to him. He and his friends searched for what seemed to be easily found, but were unable to find it. I was available, and let him know I would come immediately.

When I got to the beach I found Neill, and he took me out to the area of the loss. He showed me what had happened, and replayed the motion of when the ring came off. After setting up the equipment, began a tight grid to insure not missing the ring. I made about 5 passes within their original search area, and then began to work outside that perimeter when a nice signal came through the head phones. I put the scoop in, and came up with a solid silver ring. I reached in and held it up for Neill who came over elated that it had been found. this made for the great end of the day.

Maria contacted me concerning the loss of her engagement and wedding rings. She had given them to her daughter for her marriage, and she went to the beach a few days after. Her daughter had put the rings in her shorts for “safe keeping”, but at the end of the day, they were gone. Maria and her family spent hours trying to find the set, but were unable to. She contacted me the day after, which gave me a bit of reservation when talking about a recovery knowing that this beach is not only cleaned by machines on a daily basis, but also heavily metal detected. She would not be able to meet me there, but told me where the loss occurred, and sent a video showing the area. I was on my way.

When I got to the area, the first thing I noticed was that the machines had not gone through in the morning which increased my hope, and I sent this information to Maria. I needed a bit more clarification on the location, and we sent text back and forth until I felt I knew where to start searching. I began a meticulous grid making sure to cover all the sand in the area. I was getting no signals which I was expecting maybe from bottle caps or tin foil. Then on one pass, a good solid signal in the head phones. I dug, and there they were, still together as one in all their splendor. I sent her a text about the recovery, and offered to drive them to her at her job. Needless to say Maria was overjoyed. love those smiles,

Maria sent the following testimonial:

My daughter lost her wedding rings at Huntington Beach Monday night. We dug for over 4 hours with no luck. We ended up going home long after the sun had gone down, defeated, sore from digging and crying. As I was about to sleep, I Googled “what to do when you lose your ring at the beach” and I came across the RingFinders website. At first I was going to dismiss the option because the initial testimonials were from North Carolina/east coast area, but I did eventually see there were services in Southern California. I decided to call in the morning (now I know to call ASAP, meaning *immediately* even if it’s 11 p.m.). I texted Mr. Smith the next (mid) morning and after some who/what/when/where questions and info, he was on the hunt for the rings. I honestly was not optimistic because there were 4 of us looking for over 4 hours, digging digging digging with zero luck, but I just had to try because the rings have such deep sentimental value. The rings were my engagement/wedding rings from my husband who passed away in 2016, and I had just recently resized them for my daughter. My daughter and son-in-law (who is a Marine) decided to have a quick civil ceremony due to his military schedule not being amenable to planning the wedding they want anytime in the near future. I offered them my wedding rings for the civil ceremony since my daughter would inherit them eventually anyway. They had just gotten married the Friday before. 11 minutes. Upon arriving at the lifeguard station where the rings were last seen, Mr. Smith found the rings in 11 minutes. I can’t begin to put into words all the motions that engulfed me as soon as I saw the text: “I found your rings” with the subsequent pictures of the actual rings in the sand. BLESS YOU and the work you do, Steve Smith. Not many people know about this site, but they will now! I’m telling anyone and everyone this story and about this service!

I received a text from Chloe for help in finding her husband’s lost wedding ring. They had been at the beach 2 days prior when it was lost. I know the beach is cleaned with machines daily, and asked some pertinent questions to determine the possibility of a recovery. After her answers to my questions about the area of the loss, I told them it would definitely be worth a try, but that it might not be there for a variety of reasons, but to keep the hope alive. We decided to meet at the lowest tide of the day.

I got there before they did, and waited for them to show me where the loss occurred. When they arrived I met Chloe’s husband Matt, and they took me down to the area of where they believed they had lost the ring. Matt was pretty sure of the spot, and drew a line in the sand to show me where he believed it was lost. I began my search just to the north of his line and ran a line down to the water, and then began to work the grid back up the slope. There were no signals at all, and then a solid signal in the headphones. I dug, shook my scoop, and there in bottom was Matt’s ring, after 2 days in a prime location; Awesome! They were so happy to have it back when Chloe told me the story about the ring, that it was Matt’s Grandfather’s, and then his Dad’s. His Dad gifted it to him when Matt and Chloe got married not even a year earlier. What a special find!

Berry called me about some lost keys in the sand on the beach. His son had been there the night before and lost his keys. He was unable to find them when he went back to look. I let Berry know that I would meet them there to do a search.

I met Berry and his son Rick at beach at the arranged time. We walked out to the area where Rick thought the keys were lost, and showed me approximately what had happened. I began my search in the area I was shown, and after about 10 minutes was unable to find them. They expanded the search area, and I began to go further from the original area, but again was unable to find the keys, so I began to search down closer to the water. After about 4 passes, and going back in the opposite search direction, I got the signal I was looking for, dug, and had Rick’s keys in my scoop. I was able to give him his very expensive electronic key back which made him a very happy man!

I received a desperate late night call from Monica. She had been traveling down the coast on her way to the airport, and while stopping on the side of the road to apply sunscreen, she removed her soldered engagement and wedding rings, and laid them in her lap. She then got out of the car forgetting her rings altogether. She left, and was at the airport getting ready to head back to Colorado when she realized the loss, so she had no way to get back to look for the rings. I let her know that I would leave immediately to look for them.

I got to the spot she directed me to, and there was one vehicle in the area she had told me about. I was hoping the car tire was not covering the rings, or that maybe they were knocked out into the highway by another vehicle. I turned on my light and began looking around on the shoulder. As soon as I got in front of the car I spoke of earlier, I flashed the light around the bumper, and got the beautiful glimmer from Monica’s rings right under the front of the car. I took a picture with her rings, sent her a text of the recovery with my picture. She was so surprised and happy to know they had been recovered. We then arranged to get the rings back to her via USPS, and I am happy to report she has them back.

It was just last October when I received a call from Ashley who’s daughter had lost her gold Tiffany & Co. necklace charm in the sand of Torrance Beach. We had a successful search, but I was surprised to get another call for the same charm lost at a different beach. Well, I did not hesitate, but left immediately to recover the lost charm.

When I got there Ashley found me and lead me to their spot to search. She showed me where she thought it might be, and the sifter that someone had loaned them to use for their search, but they were unable to find it. I remembered that the charm was too small for my scoop, and would just fall through the holes back into the sand, so I brought a plastic spoon with very small holes to sift out the charm when it was found. I went over the area she showed me, got a good signal, scooped with my spoon, and after a couple minutes of shaking, there in the bottom was the charm. Ashley was surprised, because they had gone over that area already with the sifter they had with no luck. Remember, If you lose something a second time, don’t feel embarrassed about it, but like Ashley, call me back, and we will find it again!

As I was returning home from my key search in Zuma Beach, and driving through the beach cities, I received a call from Mark who had also lost his keys in the sand, fortunately the same day. This was the third recovery call this day, a ring, and two key searches, and I let him know I was on the way.

When I got to the beach, I found Mark, and he showed me what had happened. He had put his keys in the pocket of his beach chair, and when he left, folded it up walking away not realizing they had fallen out. He went back to find them, but they were lost in the sand. He had marked the spot with his flip flops in order to give me a beginning of the area to search, so that is where I began, right where his flip flops were. Right over his flip flops I received a good signal, and thought the flip flops had some metal in them as some do, so I moved them and scanned again; same signal. I dug and there they were. Mark had placed his flip flops unknowingly right on top of his keys, what a surprise. What a way to top off the day; great smile!

I received a desperation call from Hana. She had lost her Cartier gold and diamond bracelet in the sand at the beach. She had been shooting a video for her Social Media page when sometime during the shoot her bracelet came off and disappeared. She had left the beach before she knew it was gone, and was worried about getting to it right away. I agreed with her about doing the search as soon as possible, so I gathered what I needed, and was on my way.

When I got to the area I had a bit of a hard time finding the access point to get to where she was, and there was no cell phone coverage for my carrier, so I was not able to contact her. After studying the photos Hana sent me, and driving around, I finally was able to find the access point, and Hana was waiting for me. She took me down to where she was filming, and showed me the area. It was a rather long, but a narrow path that she had run down on the beach. She went to the furthest point and waited, as I set up for my search. I began, swung about 3 times, got a great solid gold signal in the head phones, and dug. I pulled out the sand and dumped it out. Right on top was Hana’s bracelet big and beautiful. I held it up for her, and I think it took a couple seconds for her to realize that I found it so quickly, but when she came back she reminded everyone that she suspected it had been lost in that area. It was great to be able to reunite Hana and her bracelet. Sometimes the loss of such an item can be disheartening, but all smiles this time.

I got a call from Jen and Jeremy regarding Jen’s wedding band, which had been lost in the  beach sand earlier in the day. The fact that this happened the same day, I felt that if we got on the search right away, we would have a very good chance of a recovery. we decided to go the same night to do the search, and I was on my way.

When I got to the beach Jen and Jeremy found me and we walked out on the beach, and to the area they believed to loss to have occurred. Jen explained what happened, and I began my search. It really only took a few minutes of searching to find her ring, and be able to hand it back to her. It is so important to do the search as soon as possible to have the best possible outcome. She was so happy to see it again, and I was happy to have been that help for her.
