Jeremy’s friend Mark called because Jeremy had lost his wedding ring in the sand while playing football with friends at the beach. When going for the ball, his ring came off, and was completely hidden from him and his friends who searched hard for it. I let him know I would come ASAP in order to have a successful recovery.

When I arrived I went to the wrong place, and had to call in order to be redirected to where the loss occurred. When I found him he showed me the area, and how the loss occurred. I began my search, finding quite a bit of metal trash in the area which slowed down the search considerably. I searched the area he showed me, not finding the ring, so I began to expand the search zone. After about 5 more passes I found his ring. Jeremy and his friends were surprised it had gone into that area, but he was happy to have it back. Great smile!

Josh contacted me regarding his wedding ring that he lost while washing his dog on his backyard deck. His house is on a hillside, and his deck is a couple stories above the ground below. He was washing the dog when he flicked his hand, and the ring came off and bounced into the grass down below. He watched it go over the side, so he had an idea of where it could have gone, but the ground cover below was thick and tall; and very hard to find something as small as a ring.

When I got there Josh showed me the area he thought the ring went into, and estimated the distance it had traveled. I got my detector, and climbed down for the search. The hillside was thick with tall grass, maybe 8 to 10 inches high with a lot of weeds intermingled. I began at the edge of the walkway, and worked my way down the hillside slowly pushing the grass down, and listening for even the faintest of signals. I did find many construction orientated items during the search, and kept looking, going over new ground working away from the walking path. I finally found the ring in a very thick patch of tall grass, and was able to bring it back up to Josh who was happy to see it again. A lot of work rewarded with a great smile.

Engagement Ring Lost in Sand at Park in Pasadena the Day Before…Found and Joyfully Returned.

Adam contacted me about a ring his wife had lost the day before at local park. She had taken her child to the park to play, and fearing the loss of her ring, she took it off, and put it “safely” in her pocket. She also had her phone in that pocket, and her glasses too, both of which she removed in and out multiple times while her child was playing. Knowing that time is the enemy of a successful recovery, and that a day had already passed, I encouraged a search the same day. He agreed, and said his wife would meet me at the park to show me where to look.

When I arrived Stephani was waiting for me, and after some arrangements with the staff at the park, took me to the first of two areas she believed the loss occurred. I had my 11 inch coil on the detector, but brought my 6 inch coil just to be sure I could search everything. I went over the first area with some difficulty because of some of the metal around the benches and boundaries of the sand pit, and didn’t find the ring. we then went over to the other area which turned out to be a little more difficult, so I changed to the 6 inch coil, and was able to search the spot extensively. Stephani asked what I was wanting to hear, that we could search the first area again. I wanted to go over with the 6 inch coil to be sure I could get in close to the spots that had built in metal. I was working in close to one of the benches, when I received a nice solid tone, put in my pin pointer, and found her ring. When I showed her, there an outpouring of emotion, and she ran off to show her husband, and tell him the good news. It is so fun to be able to turn someone’s broken heart into a joyful one, and in that, this day was a success.

I received a call from Sofia who had lost her ring at the beach the night before. We discussed the loss, and after finding out where it occurred my hope was increased thinking we would be able to make a recovery, so I let her know that I would leave right away in order to conduct a search as soon as possible.

We met up at the beach and I walked out with Sofia and her friend Andrew. When we got to the area, Andrew showed me the general vicinity, and Sofia replayed what she was doing to cause the loss. She even told me that she had watched the ring come off of her finger, but was not able to find it. I gathered my equipment, and began my search. After about 8 feet I got my first strong signal, dug, and had Sofia’s Ring in the scoop. I held it up, and Andrew exclaimed, “It only took two minutes”. They were both amazed, because they had searched so diligently the night before. Sofia then told me that her grandmother had given her the ring, so it meant a lot to her. It sure is nice to be able to reunite people to their heirlooms.

I had just gotten back from a successful search from earlier in the day (it was now about 7:00 PM) when my phone rang, and a gentleman was wondering if I could help locate his lost wedding ring. Well my wife was on the way home with our dinner, so I asked some questions about the loss, and figured there was a good possibility of a recovery, but wanted to have my dinner because I hadn’t eaten since 10:30 that morning. so I asked if he would mind me eating first, and then I would come. He agreed, and I told him I would let him know when I was leaving.

Rob told me that he would meet me at the beach, but I got there a bit earlier than he did. He had given me an area to search, but because it was dark, and the sand all looks the same, I looked around for traces of a search in the sand. I did find an area in the vicinity he had given me that looked like someone had been searching for something, so I began to search as I waited for Rob to come. I searched the whole area with no success, and became a little dismayed until Rob showed up, and let me know I was looking in the wrong place. He lead me to where he remembered him being earlier that day, and I began a new search. I swung my detector twice, got a good strong signal, scooped the sand, and had Rob’s wedding ring to hand back to him. He was astonished that the recovery happened so fast, but the fact that he was there to correct my search area made all the difference. He was very happy, and I believe he said that he and his wife were celebrating their wedding anniversary in 3 months. What a great end to a long day.

Sharp Stakes in Santa Monica Back Yard…Found.

Michael called to see if I could help him find some buried stakes in his back yard. He had recently purchased his home, and was in the back yard with his girlfriend when she stepped on an old rusted stake that had been cut off just under the surface, rather than dug out, and it cut her foot up pretty bad. I let him know I could do the search, and we arranged a day for it.

I got to Michael’s house, and he lead me to where the first stake was found. It was partially dug up, and I reached to feel it, realizing it was as sharp as a razor. It was an old rusted fence stake that must have been hammered at least three feet into the ground. I realized that instead of digging them out the previous owner figured it would be much easier to just grind them off. Michael did not know if there were any more, but desperately wanted to know for the safety of anyone coming into his yard. After the search was complete, I had found 6 more dangerously sharp stakes to be removed. Needless to say, Michael was very relieved to know he could free his yard of these harmful objects.

Maria-Victoria called about the loss of her necklace. She was out at the beach the night before, and in the dark enjoying the evening and the waves. She had been diving in the water when all of a sudden she noticed that her necklace was missing. This piece of jewelry had been commissioned by her mother in law by a local artist in the mother in law’s native Zimbabwe, so it was a great loss. When she called, it was low tide (it had been high tide when she lost it), and I said that now would be the best time for the search, and not to wait.

When I got to the beach Mari-Victoria was there waiting for me. We discussed the loss, and she had already marked off the area where she believed the loss occurred. I asked about the necklace as to how it was made, and what metals were used in its construction. She tried to explain, and had a blurry photo that did not help to much, but she kept talking about the clasp that held it together on her neck. I began my search low at the water line and worked my way up the slope. The beach was sanded in, and there were no signals except for a car key that I later turned in to the lifeguard. I finished the search up the slope, the told her that I was going to go down into the water, and work outside the boundaries she had drawn. I made one pass in knee deep water, then turned up. I had gone past her boundary about 15 feet when I got a good signal, I dug, and had a small metal ring with some stones attached to it, so I held it up for her, and she came, and positively identified it. I passed my coil over again, and got another good signal, dug and had the rest of it. She was so very happy, because this was a very special piece for her. I did notice though why she kept mentioning the clasp, because the clasp was the only metal in the necklace, everything else was stone and a high tensile string. Without the clasp I would not have found it. What a great day for sure.

Jacqueline contacted me after losing her diamond ring at the beach. I asked if she was still near the spot of the loss, and she told me she stayed there. I told her I would leave right away to go and conduct a search for her, knowing that the sooner the search after a loss, the better the chance of a successful recovery.

When I got to the beach, it did not take long to find Jacqueline, and she took me to the area she believed the ring was lost in. I could see where she had been searching, so I had a good spot to begin my search. I started my search, and within a couple of minutes I was able to hand her back her ring. As you can see by those smiles, there was much joy in the sand that evening.

Joseph called me for help in finding his lost ring. He had been playing volley ball with friends, when he hit the ball, and his ring flew off. After an unfruitful search in the sand at the court, he called. I was available, and knowing that he was still at the spot encouraged me to go immediately to try and have a successful recovery.

When I got to the beach Joseph saw me walking in his direction, and waved me over. We talked a bit about what had happened, where he was standing when he hit the ball, and where he believed the ring went into the sand. I got my equipment ready, and let him know that it could possibly be in another part of the court, but my search would find it. I began in the direction he showed me, and within 30 seconds I was able to give him back his ring. He was very happy, and I was happy for him. A great day!

Shelly contacted me after desperately searching for the rings she lost at the beach while out with her family. They were still at the spot, so I let them know I would leave immediately to come and help them.

When I got there Shelly met me, and explained what had happened. She showed me where she had been when the rings were lost, so I had a good reference as to where to begin. I got my detector ready, and we moved anything metal away from the search area like beach chairs, and aluminum cans. The search was short, mainly because they had remained in the area, and knew where to look. I found one ring first, and gave it to Shelly, and then began the search for the other. It was buried very close, and before long Shelly was reunited with the rings that meant so much to her. It is always a pleasure to help those in need, and to bring smiles to the people I am able to help.
