*** Kiana was at a park in Burbank, CA. which is a City in Los Angeles, CA. Her vintage gold ring came off her finger in a local park near her home. She felt it come off, so she knew the general area of the loss. Two hours of searching the grass was unsuccessful.

She contacted me after finding me online. I made the drive to Burbank to meet her at the park. We had to locate this before the lawnmower found it first. I wasn’t sure how heavy the ring was but I was sure it had to be within a 50ft. radius of where she had been standing.

Within about 15 minutes I found the ring in a large clump of grass. It was much larger than I thought it to be. Amazing that it found one of the only large clumps of grass to hide in. I’m sure it could have easily been spotted visually anywhere else in the area. Anyway Kiana was very happy and relieved that she had it back. Her husband, John also met me, telling me he spent another 2 hours searching the same location on his hands and knees.

*** Viet had been surfing at Newport Beach, CA. Just before going into the water he realized he still had his platinum wedding ring on. It was too far back to his car, so Viet put his wedding ring in a pocket of his backpack.

That evening when he got home Viet discovered his ring missing from the back pack. He and his wife drove more that 30 miles back to Newport Beach searching that night in the dry sand with no luck. He returned at 6am the next morning using a loaner metal detector that the lifeguards gave him.

After two hours he was totally frustrated and he took a few minutes to google search ideas on how to find a ring with a metal detector. That was how he found my information on TheRingFinders metal detecting directory. I live very close to where the loss occurred, so I was on the beach by 9am. Viet was totally frustrated and tired from the many hours of searching. He did feel that he was searching the wrong areas and suggested I try a spot on the beach where he recognized a piece of ribbon in the sand.

I started my grid search in that location while Viet went to his car for some water. Before he got 30 yards away from me I got a strong signal in my headphones. After retrieving the target I could see the platinum wedding ring in my scoop. I got his attention before he got to his car. When he saw his ring, couldn’t hold back his emotions, he choked up and took a few deep breaths. The sentimental meaning of his wedding ring and the frustration of so many hours of searching for the ring was overwhelming. Now the relief of having his ring back was real after coming so close to thinking it was lost forever.

I wonder how many people walk away from sentimental keepsakes that could have been found if they only knew a service like TheRingFinders exists. Many people find our service by accident searching through the internet. We have members internationally in over 400 cities.

**** Chris and Laura are from Georgia, they had just finished a road trip down the coast of California. Spending  the last day of their trip by enjoying the ocean sitting on the sand at Newport Beach, CA. Their day was upset by the loss of Laura’s platinum with diamonds wedding ring set.

When I received the call I had just finished another ring recovery 20 miles away. They were staying at a hotel very close to the location where they believed the loss occurred. So it helped that they could be there to guide me to the general area.

We began the search just as the sun was setting. They believed the rings were lost about 3pm that afternoon. My concern was they had set up their beach chairs on the wet sand. The rings would not have been buried as easily as if had been soft sand. After three or four hours with many people on the beach, someone could have visually found them..

After triple cross gridding and expanding the search area it was dark. I was running out of places to search. Both Chris and Laura were ready to give up. I told them I could not leave with good conscious until I did a couple passes on the upper soft sand. Half way into my second pass I got a strong signal, dug into the sand with my scoop. It was dark so I reached into the sand that was in my scoop and felt a large diamond ring. I knew it had to be one of the rings I was looking for.

I held the ring up for Chris and Laura to see but they didn’t realize I had found their ring. They still had the sad look , that the rings were lost forever. Then I said out loud, I found the big ring. (2.67ct. Diamond/ platinum ring). It was a priceless moment, I can’t explain with words.

I took a few seconds more to swing the detector over the same area hoping to get the wedding band, no signal. Then I had second thought, I reached into my scoop and there was the wedding band lying flat in the bottom of the scoop. I had dug both at the same time. They had not remembered that they first set on the upper beach for a couple minutes before moving to the wet sand location.

A very happy couple that could finish their special vacation with a happy ending. It was a special search with emotions up and down. It was a pleasure to meet and help both Laura and Chris.
