Widower’s Missing Wedding Band Found at Waterford, CT Beach

Finding this wedding band was no different than waking up on Christmas morning as a kid – This was going to be the ultimate gift to someone!

Prior to beginning my search, I had no identifying information on Mr. Hage’s ring so I was not completely sure if the ring I found was the ring that belonged to Mr. Hage (Although, deep down I had high hopes this ring was the ring I was there to find). After confirming the ring belonged to Mr. Hage, I knew the best part was coming next. Aside from the excitement of finding a gold ring lost to Mother Nature, there is no better feeling than reuniting someone with their story that began 56 years ago.

I do this because sometimes all people have is a token to remind them of the best parts of their lives and those memories do not belong lost in the ocean.

Lost Ring in Westport Connecticut Pond… Recovered on SCUBA!

A men’s wedding band was lost during a swim in a residential pond in Westport, CT. The gentleman was going for his very first dip on his recently acquired property. Just three strokes into the swim he felt the unsettling slip of his wedding band off his finger. Although a stunning pond, the visibility underwater was zero, and over a foot of leaf litter has been building up on the bottom since the 1970s when the pond was constructed. To further complicate things, the depth of the pond was around seven feet in some areas. Just in case the ring settled in one of the deeper areas, I decided this was going to be a SCUBA recovery. Thirty minutes into the search we located the ring and notified the owner. This ring was recovered thanks to my friend Jon and our underwater metal detection equipment.

Recovering a lost item in water deeper than head high can be dangerous due to the potential unknowns of the underwater environment. Additionally, the learning curve involved in using metal detection equipment underwater can be steep. Stay safe and limit any frustration by contacting someone with experience in both of these.

Wedding Band Recovered at Groton Long Point Beach, Groton CT

I received a call from a woman who lost a ring in the ocean while playing with her daughter. This particular ring was very special to this family. The ring was worn on her thumb in her late husband’s memory – retrieving this ring was critical. We picked a low tide, and I headed over to begin searching. About an hour and a half into the search, I heard a promising signal in chest-deep water. Bingo! I carried the ring back to the dry beach, where the family was reunited with a significant memory. They did a great job of using the reference points around them to identify where they thought they were standing when the ring slipped off! It was retrieved even after spending a couple of days in the ocean!

Metal Detecting Service – How to Find a Lost Earring – Stamford, CT

As a couple arrived for a dinner party, they had no idea they were about to experience the terrible feeling of losing a sentimental possession that was handed down from mother to daughter. There is good news, though. Stepping out of the car and hearing the “ping, ping” of the earring bouncing off the car door told us that the earring is in the car door’s general location. Once I finally arrived, the couple showed me the approximate location of the area under the car door when the earring fell. After only minutes of searching, the couple was reunited with their earring!

Finding an earring is no easy task, but this particular earring was a larger one, and the grass was well manicured, both of which are to my advantage. Most earrings are small and challenging for the average metal detector to sense. If you don’t have the sensitive equipment necessary to find small valuables, don’t waste your time renting a metal detector that may not get the job done. Metal Detecting Service – Men’s Platinum Wedding Band – Newtown, CT

A recent call from Newtown sparked a sunrise trip across the state of Connecticut. Once I arrived, a family member walked me around the property discussing all the potential places the lost ring could be hiding. On this particular search, it was entirely unknown if the ring was outdoors, but after searching in multiple locations, the ring turned up in a grassy area where the gentleman and his kids played. Another opportunity to reunite a person with a sentimental possession!

Most searches fall into one or two categories. Either you know where the wedding band is lost, or you don’t. Wedding Band Found Under the Waves – Eastern Point Beach, Groton CT

A recent beachgoer contacted me to help find his lost wedding band. He was playing with his children in waist-deep water, and then it happened. The platinum band flew off into the water. After hours of searching with a mask and snorkel, no luck. The beachgoer even called over a local detectorist searching the dry sand for lost jewelry, still no luck. The beachgoer explained he was losing hope and reluctantly searched the web for advice on finding a lost ring in the ocean. After looking through The Ring Finders Directory, he decided to give me a call. I discussed the situation with him, and we decided it was still worth a shot. Rings Lost in Snow Found – Waterford CT

After Winter Storm Juno finished dumping snow on Southeastern Connecticut, I received a call from a couple who lost their engagement ring and wedding band in their backyard. First, they tried renting a metal detector from a local sporting goods store, no luck. Not giving up, they spent a couple of days using metal detectors purchased from Amazon, still no luck.

Upon my arrival, we went into the back yard where I found shoveled pathways and remaining footprints from the previous searching.  The Search was difficult due to the foot of frozen, uneven snow. About 30 minutes into the search, I heard the unmistakable “ring” signal. My XP Deus told me it was less than 8 inches deep, so I knew it wasn’t another signal bleeding through the snow from underground. Waving over the husband, we dug through the snow and recovered a beautiful 14k white gold wedding band.

Unfortunately, the engagement ring wasn’t right next to the wedding band. After covering the same area three different times, and another thirty minutes later, I caught a weak signal about 10 feet away from where I found the first lost ring. After brushing away a couple of inches of snow, the signal strengthened. A little more careful digging and diamond poked through the snow. We found the second ring lost in the snow!

After a day at the beach, I got home to realize I had lost my engagement and wedding ring. I rushed back the next morning in hopes of finding someone metal detecting and eventually found one in the area to rent.  I searched for 4 hours to no avail.  My husband and I went back a few days later, renting the metal detector and searching for 4-5 hours again.  And again, coming home empty-handed.

Losing jewelry is a horrible feeling, and that feeling is amplified by 1000 when they are wedding rings. No amount of insurance money would bring back MY rings.

I had seen advertisements online for the Ring Finders, but I was hesitant to contact them. I had my doubts about identifying the location of my ring for them to find.  But after two unsuccessful trips, I figured there was a 50/50 shot they would return them, and I took the odds.

I emailed Keith around 6:30 on a Saturday night and had an email back within an hour that he would be calling in the morning. He called as promised and agreed to meet my husband back at the beach in around an hour.  My hesitation was beginning to ease!

We showed him the area where we believed the rings had been lost – the place we searched over and over with our rented detector – and he found them in less than 20 minutes.

The successful result speaks for itself! We could not be happier with our decision to reach out to Keith and are beyond thrilled that he could locate the lost rings.  In talking with Keith afterward, I found out that he does survival and search/rescue training for his career. He certainly takes that professionalism and determination over into this field.  I highly recommend Keith searching for anything of significant importance.
