Ring recovery I won’t forget- Pensacola Beach

  • from Orange Beach (Alabama, United States)

Yesterday afternoon, as I was heading home from work, I got a call from Devon. The week before, I had been away for the holiday and had to turn down several people needing help, so it felt especially good to be available — and to have my gear in the car — when Devon called.

Devon had lost something incredibly meaningful over the weekend: his grandfather’s ring. It had been passed down to him to wear on his wedding day and had been in the family for 55 years. He lost it while throwing a football in the Gulf late at night, and he said one of the hardest things he’s ever done was call his grandfather to tell him it was gone.

Thankfully, a coworker who heard him talking about it at work knew what I do and suggested he give me a call.

We met at the beach, and Devon was clearly anxious as he explained where he’d been in the water. I started making passes with my detector, pulling out some trash at first — each time hoping it might be the ring. I reminded myself that God’s will would be done either way, and I settled in for the hunt.

Eventually, I pushed out deeper into the June Grass — and that’s when I heard it. The unmistakable tone of gold.

I scooped up a mix of shells and sand — and there it was: Devon’s heirloom ring.

He hadn’t seen me find it, so I walked over and joked that I was taking a break because there was just so much random metal out there. I held out the scoop casually and said, “Take a look at the stuff I’m finding.”

Devon leaned in… and then saw it. His expression shifted from worry to absolute joy. He grabbed my hand and pulled me in for a hug.

He called his wife right away with the good news — but the best moment came when he FaceTimed his grandfather. The shock and joy on his face said it all. He said, “I can’t believe it,”!

I was thrilled myself. Moments like this are exactly why I do what I do. I’m incredibly grateful I could help continue the story of this special ring.

Congratulations, Devon — and thank you, and your colleague, for trusting me.

Lost Wedding Band Recovered in the Gulf – Orange Beach, AL

  • from Orange Beach (Alabama, United States)

I got a call this afternoon from Madison who was vacationing with her whole family in Orange Beach, AL. Madison’s husband, Chris had been out in the Gulf throwing a football in the rough waters when he realized that his wedding band was missing.

I talked with Madison on the phone and she was so nice that I decided I would make the drive in traffic to help out. When I got there, the whole family was ready to watch, help and cheer me on.

The Gulf was pretty choppy but I was able to do several passes with no luck. I decided to switch angles and adjust the area a bit based on the tides and some extra input from others who were vested in the outcome.

Sure enough I only went a little farther until I heard a beautiful gold sound in my headphones and scooped up Chris’ wedding band.

In the celebration with the whole family I quickly learned from Madison and Chris that they had only been married since November. I told them that I was so happy that I could give them an awesome story to share for years to come.

Congratulations Chris and Madison and thank you for trusting me with your ring!

Memorial Day Lost Ring – FOUND!!!

  • from Orange Beach (Alabama, United States)

I made some new friends today while helping Grant find his wedding band in the Gulf. He and his wife, Kelly, were staying in Perdido when Grant’s ring slipped off while floating in the waves yesterday afternoon. By the time he realized it was gone, he knew it was about waist deep, but that was about it. This morning, I joined Grant in the water, and he showed me roughly where he thought it might be.

A few hours in, I started getting concerned. I had thoroughly searched the area but decided to push a little deeper, just in case the tide had moved it. I ventured out as far as my shoulders, and on the very first pass, I got the unmistakable tone of gold. I scooped it up on the first try. When I came in, the crowd that had been watching gave me a round of applause, and Grant gave me a big hug. What a special moment—definitely one of the best returns I’ve ever had.

2 Rings Lost in the Wet Sand – FOUND!!!

  • from Orange Beach (Alabama, United States)

I love starting the day out right!  Jenny has been in town from Minnesota visiting a friend and they went to watch the Blue Angels practice a few days ago. Unfortunately, Jenny took off her wedding ring and a Memorial ring she had made and put them where she thought they were safe. It was only after she got back to her friend’s house that evening that she realized they were gone and reached out to me. I got the info from where all they had been and agreed to go in the morning so I would have plenty of light. I ended up finding them about 4 feet apart very deep in the sand because the wind had blown the water in over them on the beach when the tide came in after they left. I was actually impressed again how deep my equipment can find a ring when set right. Jenny and her friend were both thrilled when I drove over and met them to return the rings. Thanks for trusting me Jenny and congrats on getting your rings back.

Lost Ring on Navarre Beach – FOUND!!!

  • from Orange Beach (Alabama, United States)

With all of the beautiful weather, the first ring recovery of the year came in February. Sarah called and explained that she had lost her Tiffany wedding band out on the beach somewhere. She wasn’t positive where and was concerned that it might even be in her van. After a few questions I decided that it was probably in the sand and grabbed my gear and drove the hour over to Navarre. I ended up finding it very quickly and I think Sarah was shocked how fast she had her beautiful ring back on her finger. I made good on my promise from earlier saying “if it’s there, I can find it.”  😃👍. I look forward to a great year of helping people get their precious items back.

Lost 48 year old wedding ring – Found!

  • from Orange Beach (Alabama, United States)

Charles and Marty were visiting all the way from Seattle. When you have worn your wedding ring for 48 years and it goes missing on the beach, you can’t just let it go. Luckily Charles’ and his wife Marty tracked me down and asked me to give them a hand. They weren’t sure exactly where it had come off but they had good directions to where they had been sitting with their family the day before so that was a pretty good starting place. Marty and Charles weren’t able to be there for the search but I could hear how important this ring was to them in Marty’s voice when we spoke on the phone. I was thrilled when I called back later and asked where I could meet them to drop off Charles’ ring. They were almost in disbelief and the entire family cheered in the background. I met them later and got some fantastic hugs as we put the ring back where it belongs. Congratulations Charles and Marty!

Lost ring on the Beach at Night – FOUND!

  • from Orange Beach (Alabama, United States)

My wife and I were out of town this weekend but luckily Hannah was right down the road when she gave me a call. Hannah and her husband were walking on the beach the night before when her husband fell and felt his wedding band go flying. I searched the entire area they thought it might be but it was nowhere to be found. My wife pointed to another area and said, “what about over there?”  I said it couldn’t hurt to try and only went a few feet when the gold band came up gleaming in the sand. I don’t know who was prouder, my wife or Hannah. Her husband is going to be thrilled when he gets home from work. 😃

Lost Ring at Perdido Key, FOUND!!!

  • from Orange Beach (Alabama, United States)

It’s not really summer anymore but we are still blessed with beautiful weather and that means days on the beach. Jennifer and her husband of 15 years came down from Arkansas and had been enjoying Perdido Key when calamity struck. Jennifer had taken her Diamond wedding band off and put it in the cup holder of her chair. After several relocations of the chair to find the perfect spot, Jennifer found herself packing up with the realization that her ring was gone. She Google searched and found me and luckily I was already nearby. She wasn’t sure if it was in the water or on the beach so I started with the easy part first. I had just set up a grid search and only barely started to cover the area when I heard a tone that had to be gold. I gently scooped it up and smiled at Jennifer. She came running over and magically the vacation was saved. Congrats Jennifer, I’m very proud that I could help you. God Bless!

Lost Ring in the Gulf – Pensacola Beach – FOUND!!!

  • from Orange Beach (Alabama, United States)

Late yesterday afternoon I got a call from Amanda. She was visiting from Wisconsin and had lost her platinum engagement ring out in the Gulf. They had looked for hours but weren’t able to find it and really wanted me to come before dark so they didn’t lose their spot on the beach.

My wife who is my good luck charm decided to come with me and we headed towards the beach.

When I got there, Amanda was with a big group of family. Some of them thought it was to the east and some to the west, some thought it was deeper and some shallower. Some had faith and some thought there was no way on earth I could find it. 😃 I love a challenge!

Amanda and a couple of family members came out with me and I got more information as I tried a few passes with no luck. I finally used a few of my tricks and changed areas based on what I heard from Amanda. Sure enough, I went just a little ways and to the astonishment of the family, I gently scooped up Amanda’s ring. 😃💍

Vacation saved!!!

Lost ring on the Volleyball court – Found

  • from Orange Beach (Alabama, United States)

I hadn’t been home from work too long this evening when I got a call from Anna. She was playing volleyball with her husband and some friends when her engagement ring went flying somewhere in the sand. I told her to stay there and I was on my way. When I got there they told me they had gone and purchased a detector but she quickly explained what I already knew, the cheap ones don’t work very well. I started searching and although I only had to look for a few minutes, their smiles beamed like I’d been searching for days when I held out the ring. Congrats Anna, I’m so glad that I could help. 😃💍
