Andy’s Amazing 14 Karat White Gold Cartier Wedding Band Found in the Snow by THE RING FINDER’S Member Brian Rudolph!

Holding His Very Handsome Cartier Wedding Band With Elation and Delight, Andy of Baltimore, Maryland Couldn’t Believe His Ring Was Found by Detectorist Rudolph!

Brian Rudolph, Lost Item Recovery Specialist (Land, Water, Sand, Snow, Leaves, Houses & Vehicles) Will Find Your Lost Keepsake! Call ASAP (301) 466-8644!

I received a call from a gentleman named Andy who requested my help in recovering his lost 14 karat white gold Cartier wedding band. Andy was walking his dog along an industrial street sidewalk that was covered with snow and ice. As he was taking his glove off to carefully “bag up” his canine’s “Number Two”, the gentleman saw his wedding ring fly off of his finger. He figured it had to be somewhere around that area, but after searching for some time for the cherished keepsake in the snow and dirt, all of Andy’s efforts led to no avail.

Sadly, the poor fellow had to return to his home up the street to share the bad news with his wife Cindy that his most special symbol of love from their wedding day was seemingly lost and gone forever. With the encouragement of his compassionate spouse, the two of them returned to that particular sidewalk. Later that evening, once again, both of their diligent efforts did not show forth the results that they were hoping for.

It wasn’t until Cindy decided to take this search effort to the next level that hope would finally make its way through the darkness. She went online and searched for answers to their problem and that’s when she came across the elite international directory of metal detecting specialists called THE RING FINDERS. Then, Cindy checked on the site to see who the closest detectorist was to them in the Baltimore, Maryland area and my name popped up. Excitedly, the very resourceful wife shared her findings with Andy and within minutes he sent me a text requesting a call from me. I could not have been more happy to serve the couple’s need and within a very short time of gathering up all of the details regarding the loss of the ring, we scheduled a time for me to come out the following day.

I will never forget that particular Monday that I drove out to East Baltimore to assist Andy in helping him recover his lost Cartier wedding band.  Because there were two other searches that took place prior to me driving north of the Washington DC area, it wasn’t until early afternoon that I was able to make my way to Andy’s neighborhood. My morning started in Alexandria, Virginia with a successful recovery of a lost ring in the snow. Then, I drove to Washington DC for my second ring search outside in the wintry environment, as well (I wasn’t so fortunate to find the missing gold and diamond Aggie A&M class ring in DC until after leaving Andy’s search to return to DC for Round Two).

I was really hoping that Andy’s ring was still out there somewhere because though there was still snow and ice on the sidewalk where he lost his ring, there were plenty of people that would be walking by throughout the day and it was quite possible that someone could eyeball Andy’s precious “circle of love”. If some melting would occur as time went by, my client recognized the potential of this unfortunate outcome, but he was also very optimistic that if he had a chance of recovering this extremely expensive and very sentimental possession, I appeared to be the right guy for the job!

Once I arrived in Andy’s neighborhood, my client led me down a few side-streets, which then took me to the bottom of the hill where railroad tracks and some other industrial buildings could be seen. I parked my car along the street just around the corner from where I would be metal detecting and Andy and I walked together to the search site.

The entire orientation time took no more than a couple of minutes as my client showed me the place on the sidewalk where he believed he lost the ring. There was a tall chain link fence that was to the right of the sidewalk and the asphalt sidewalk was still covered with snow and ice. I explained to Andy that our biggest challenge could end up being the interference coming from the fence. However, I also shared with him that I use certain methods to get around the enormous metallic “masking” that takes place when metal detecting around metal fences like that one. Because Andy wasn’t completely sure of the exact spot where he was picking up his dog’s mess, I told him that I would cover a large section of that sidewalk just to be certain that we didn’t miss any bit of real estate where the band could be hiding. If it still didn’t turn up, I would then go to the management company that owned the fence and the real estate within its perimeter in order to get access to metal detect the other side of the chain-link fence. In all honesty, I was hoping it would not come down to that. After my client showed me everything that I needed to see, I returned back to my vehicle to pull out the exact equipment necessary to conduct this type of search.

Once back at the sidewalk, I chose to use one of my detectors that has a small 6 inch coil at the bottom of it in order to scan areas where there is a high content of metal that could potentially interrupt my detecting. If the ring was still on the sidewalk, there was no way of knowing (with the snow and ice covering it) whether or not it came to rest near or literally just below the fence line. With using a smaller disc to move about in that search zone, it allows for the detectorist to create separation between the dominant metal (which was the fence) and the smaller piece of metal (Andy’s ring) that I was looking for.

Within the next few minutes following my initial set up of my machine, I did pick up a couple of targets that had some potential of being the handsome wedding band that I was searching for. Unfortunately, they turned out to be just false alarms. Then, just moments later, as I continued to swing the 6 inch coil just above the snow-covered sidewalk in a particular area that I had not analyzed at that point, I hit the perfect target signal which registered the exact numbers that I was predicting would appear if I found Andy’s ring. My client stood just a few feet away as he watched me kneel down onto the cold and wet surface to investigate this very promising target. I pulled out my handheld detector called a pinpointer and began moving it around the place where my detector picked up the signal. The distance between the object that I was checking out and the edge of the fence was approximately two and a half feet away from one another. Had I been much closer to the chain-link monster using a regular sized coil, it would have been detrimental to my search due to the overwhelming presence of metal that the 11 inch disc would have to compete with.

It took only a couple of seconds or two for my handheld machine to lock in on the exact spot where this piece of metal was hiding under the snow. Carefully, I used my fingers to move some of the excess ice out of the way to reveal the true identity of this metallic object. To my greatest surprise and delight, it turned out to be Andy’s most handsome 14 karat white gold Cartier wedding band! The interlocking artistry for this extremely heavy ring was most impressive! Because my client was just a few feet away observing this most magnificent recovery operation, I didn’t even attempt to surprise him! Rather, I excitedly picked up the hunk of 14 karat white gold and jubilantly announced the successful recovery of Andy’s lost wedding band! I immediately brought it over to him and the look on his “masked” face truly defined complete shock and awe! He couldn’t believe how fast I recovered the ring and I was just as happy that I was able to find it as quickly as I did! It was such a fantastic moment that the two of us got to have, celebrating the return of this most sentimental keepsake in Andy’s life! What a tremendous thrill! The whole experience was just as fun for me as it was for my very warmhearted client!

After Andy and I took some pictures together commemorating that awesome find in the snow, the two of us reflected on how fortunate Andy was to have that ring end up where it did. Had it been just a bit closer to the fence, even the smaller coil would have had a difficult time separating between the large amount of metal coming from the fence and from the very special piece of white gold that my client wanted back so badly.

As we said our goodbyes, Andy could not stop expressing his gratitude and his many sighs of relief knowing that this irreplaceable treasure was back in his possession once again! My client and I enjoyed our time together so much that we agreed that once the pandemic subsided, we would try to get together again. However, next time it would be a celebration of our new friendship that was uniquely birthed from Andy’s initial cry for help! What a special time that was on that winter day near the railroad tracks in East Baltimore, Maryland!

How to Metal Detect a Lost Titanium Wedding Ring in the Snow…Found in Alexandria, Virginia

  • from Washington (District of Columbia, United States)

Doug’s Cherished Titanium Wedding Band (Made by David Yurman Compay) Recovered in the Snow by Metal Detectorist and Member of THE RING FINDERS Brian Rudolph!

Alexandria, Virginia Resident, Doug, Proudly Holding His Sentimental Titanium Keepsake of Love Following a Successful Metal Detecting Search by Member of THE RING FINDERS Brian Rudolph!

Brian Rudolph, Lost Item Recovery Specialist (Land, Water, Sand, Snow, Leaves, Houses & Vehicles) Will Find Your Lost Keepsake! Call ASAP (301) 466-8644!

I received a call from a young man named Doug in Alexandria, Virginia who lost his titanium wedding band made by the David Yurman company. He was playing out in the snow with his children and their pet dog, and by the time he returned back into the house from all of their fun, Doug noticed that his most special sentimental keepsake was no longer on his finger. Because he remembered that the ring was loose on his finger outside earlier that same day, the distressed fellow was pretty confident that the band had been lost out in the snow while playing.

Not taking matters into his own hands but rather trusting the competence of a professional metal detectorist, Doug found my metal detecting services on the elite international metal detecting specialist directory website called THE RING FINDERS. He learned that I provide my metal detecting expertise in the Alexandria, Virginia area and immediately called me for help!

The next morning, I arrived at Doug’s lovely snow covered neighborhood to conduct the ring search. My new client showed me all of the areas where he had been walking around, playing with the dog and having a blast out in the snow with his well entertained children. Within a few minutes I had all of the information necessary to start the search.

I returned to my car, pulled out my waterproof detector, headphones and gridline tapes and began the process of looking for Doug’s most special “symbol of love”. Within 10 minutes of swinging my machine back and forth as I analyzed the snow for the wedding band, I picked up the perfect signal coming from beneath the ice. Because I am so experienced with recovering all types of rings made of every kind of metal, I was pretty confident that this very target was the lost piece of titanium that went missing the day before. With much excitement and anticipation, I knelt down on the snow and pulled out my handheld metal detector (which is called a pinpointer) and began to wave it over the area where my machine coil was picking up the object that I was after. Once I knew the exact spot where the target was buried, I used my fingers to dig my way down through the snow until my eyes locked in on exactly what I thought the mystery item happened to be! It was in fact Doug’s titanium wedding band! I found it! I couldn’t have been more happy for my client the moment that the silver-like colored halo appeared from within the snow!

The best part of my search and recovery time (other than of course finding the lost item that meant the world to Doug), was the moment that I surprised my client with his very handsome wedding band! Doug was so appreciative of my expertise and efforts in successfully returning his special wedding band back to his finger! He couldn’t believe how fast I was able to recover it for him! During the rest of the time that I was on my client’s property, Doug kept expressing his gratitude for what I was able to accomplish for him. He told me over and over again how glad he was for not wasting his money and time on a rental machine that he knew nothing about. But instead, he called in a professional who took care of his most important need…preserving his irreplaceable “symbol of love” that his wife Lisa placed on her husband’s finger several years earlier on their very special wedding day!

Lost Texas A&M Aggie Gold Diamond Class Ring in the Snow…Found in Washington DC

  • from Washington (District of Columbia, United States)

Justin’s Amazing 10 Karat Gold and Diamond A&M Aggie Class Ring Miraculously Recovered in the Snow by Member of THE RING FINDER’S Brian Rudolph in Washington DC!

Justin, a Recent A&M Graduate, Smiling Once Again After Detectorist Rudolph Recovers His Lost “Super Bowl Class Ring” in the Snow!

Brian Rudolph, Lost Item Recovery Specialist (Land, Water, Sand, Snow, Leaves, Houses & Vehicles) Will Find Your Lost Keepsake! Call ASAP (301) 466-8644!

While I was conducting a search and recovery operation for a gentleman who lost his wedding band in the snow in Alexandria, Virginia, I received another ring search call from a young man named Justin who lost his 10 karat yellow gold and diamond Texas A&M Aggie 2020 graduation class ring in the snow the night before. The native Texan who had recently graduated from A&M went on to share that he was having a snowball fight with some of his other A&M graduate friends who also resided in the nation’s capital. Justin said that he was absolutely certain that he had his Aggie ring on his finger when he went outside of his friend’s Washington DC residence just prior to the ice fight that would soon ensue. When I asked the recent graduate why he was so certain that the ring was on his finger upon walking out of the front door, he went on to share that he wore the ring for a little while, but then decided to put it in his jacket pocket for safekeeping. At some point, he changed his mind once again and removed the ring from its safekeeping, placing it back on his ring finger until the conclusion of the snowball fight.

During the group’s outdoor winter fun, some of Justin’s friends were spread out in the middle of the street and he was mostly standing on the sidewalk in front of the row house where he took position and manufactured all of his ice artillery. It was only after Justin had returned inside the house to warm himself up (along with the rest of his Texan friends) that he shockingly discovered that his most prized possession was no longer on his finger. Justin was terribly upset and immediately gathered up his winter coat and hat and headed back outside to search for his ring. The others followed him out, eager to help their dear friend look everywhere for the lost treasure.

From the late night evening hours until sometime early morning the following day, Justin and his friends continued their desperate attempt to recover the lost Aggie ring. They searched through snow and ice, checking everywhere in the street, around the parked vehicles, along the sidewalk and on the front lawn of the rental house, as well. None of them could believe that with so many people (I believe there were around six of them) not one of them was able to find the sentimental symbol of accomplishment that Justin worked so very hard for. Unfortunately, the gang finally called it quits, realizing that there was nothing more any of them could do at that point. They all agreed that they would have to wait until later that morning to resume the search and come up with some new ideas if they still were not able to pull the ring from the snow.

As the sun began to rise and the snow and ice started to melt, a few of the faithful returned outside once again to continue their search for the missing ring. Sadly, again, all of their efforts led to no avail. Justin was not able to join the pack because of his work schedule on the Hill, so his friend Katie reported back to him that it still had not been found. I am not sure who it was that went online to search for a metal detecting service or rental store, but upon googling for ideas, the elite international directory of metal detectorists called THE RING FINDERS popped up on the screen. Help was “almost” on its way (so to speak)! Justin immediately called me and within a short while we made plans for me to squeeze in his Washington DC search prior to me having to travel to Baltimore, Maryland for my third ring search out in the snow later that same day.

When I arrived at the search site in downtown Washington DC (following a very successful ring recovery for the other gentleman in Virginia), I noticed how the snow was still covering most of the lawns, sidewalks and in the middle and sides of the street. The asphalt was already plowed but much ice and slush build-up was still evident all over the street. I luckily found a parking space and soon met up with Justin’s friend Katie who oriented me as to where the snowball fight took place and the exact location as to where Justin was standing and gathering up snow.

The recent A&M graduate cared so deeply for Justin and was feeling really bad for him, knowing that his ring was either still out there in the snow somewhere or it had been already picked up by someone walking by in the past 10 hours or so. Katie showed me where Justin stood on the sidewalk and the exact place where he formed his snowballs, turned towards the street and then aimed and fired at his fellow Aggie friends that were spread out in the middle-of-the-road. I asked if he had ever left that position and she said that Justin did not. That was extremely helpful and encouraging information because it meant that his beloved class ring was either lost in the area where he was gathering snow or it was possible that the ring flew off at the same time that he threw one of the snowballs towards the street or down the sidewalk where his opposition stood.

Next, I was shown where the others took their positions and then lastly Katie pointed out the area of her lawn (near the property’s edge where an old stone wall was erected parallel with the sidewalk) where Justin gathered up snow to make his weapons of mass destruction. In all honesty, though I was so very hopeful that I would recover this jewel, I knew that this A&M ring (which is considered one of the most prized graduation class rings on the market (detecting specialists nickname the Aggie ring – the “Super Bowl ring” of all class rings!)) would stand out like a sore thumb if someone were to eyeball it. The 10 karat yellow gold would be quite easy to see when resting in the snow. I just hoped for the best and looked forward to giving this search my very all.

After I received all of the information that I needed to begin metal detecting, I returned to my vehicle up the street and gathered up all of the necessary equipment that was needed to conduct the search. The first area that I detected was the sidewalk that was in front of the house. I also extended my investigation down the sidewalk in the areas that were adjacent to the rental property. I was picking up quite a few signals that were random pieces of metal and reinforcement bar underneath the concrete slabs of the sidewalk, so I needed to be extremely careful and methodical with checking every square inch to make sure that I did not miss the gold ring anywhere near or on top of all of those distracting signals.

When I finished scanning all of the concrete that was off of the main street, I headed into the middle of the residential thoroughfare to see if the snowball fighters happened to miss spotting the graduation prize somewhere under some snow or slush on the asphalt street. Once again, I dealt with a lot of interference coming from random metallic objects, reinforcement bar and piping that was hidden below the concrete. Though my metal detector coil was being swung back and forth over many snow and ice molehills, I constantly had to adjust my machine to deal with the potential “masking” issues coming from all of those opposing forces.

With having just a small window of time to do this initial search because of my need to commute to Baltimore, Maryland for another search that had already been preplanned, I still made pretty sure that I didn’t miss detecting over the target that I was hunting for. Up and down that particular section of the neighborhood, I checked all of the curbs, around and under most of the cars as best as I could, and of course, under every patch of snow and slush mound that was in the middle and on the sides of the street. Still, unfortunately, there was no gold diamond class ring to be found.

The last leg of my asphalt search was to ask Katie if she could have her next door neighbor move their car just so that I could detect that space. This vehicle was located almost in front of Katie’s place, which was only feet away from where Justin had been standing on the sidewalk during the winter battle. Within minutes of my request, the neighbor’s car was moved out of the way and I quickly scanned all of that area under the ice. Disappointedly, I struck out again. That entire street parking space was innocent of hiding Justin’s Aggie ring.

It was at that point in the search that I had just enough time to swing my detector coil up on the snow covered lawn that was located approximately 4.5 feet above the sidewalk where Justin stood. To help my reader with visualizing how the property was laid out, I can describe it best by sharing this: From the sidewalk, you must walk up a few concrete steps to reach the lawn. There was a stone wall that probably went back to the 1920s that stretched across the entire front of the property and the top surface of the lawn almost met up with the top of the wall and then extended back just a short ways to the edge of the house. Therefore, when Justin was making snowballs, he reached back over the top of the stone retaining structure and bundled up each ball of white and then proceeded to fire the weapon of choice. My hope was that the piece of jewelry would be discovered on the lawn closest to the top of the wall where the grass and stone came together.

I walked up the steps and moved over to the right area of the lawn. Then, I began to swing the detector under some bushes that were planted very close to the edge of the stone wall. I carefully moved around that environment but I had to be careful to avoid some type of lighting system which was buried along the grass (located not too far from the edge of the property). In a few spots along that edge of the perimeter, I did pick up some target signals but they all appeared to be related with the wiring for that light system. When it seemed that everything was clear along that perimeter of the lawn, I scanned the rest of that side of the property to see if perhaps the ring flew backwards when Justin was perhaps doing one of his “windups” prior to the release of the snowball. There are plenty of examples of where I have ended up finding my client’s ring many feet behind where he or she was standing initially when the ring flew off. But in this case, yet again, nothing of importance was found under the snow and it was at that point that I needed to wrap things up for the meantime.

I regretfully had to tell Katie that I would need to leave for Baltimore and I promised her that I would return following the conclusion of my third search. I told her that I would tell my client that I would keep my word in returning to Washington DC to finish what I had initially started. In all honesty, there was very little left for me to search except to re-examine everything that I had previously detected over and to make certain that I didn’t miss anything. Also, there was a slight chance that when Justin threw one of the snowballs, the ring could have gone much farther than I had predicted. So therefore I would check territory beyond the the sidewalk that was on the opposite side of the street.

Katie and I both agreed that there was a good chance that someone had already picked up the Aggie ring which would explain why I didn’t find it during my search operation. We did not expect too much melting to occur by the time I would return for a second search attempt, so if the ring had not been spotted already, I did not expect it to be seen by a pedestrian or driver as they walked along the sidewalk or street. Justin’s faithful friend thanked me for my time and she also expressed her appreciation over the fact that I was not willing to give up looking for her dear friend’s very special symbol of achievement. When I got on the road, I contacted Justin to give him my update so that he was kept in the loop while he was working at his job. I could tell that the poor guy was losing hope, but he truly did appreciate my relentless attitude in promising to return for a second go around later that day.

After successfully recovering another wedding band (which was lost under snow and ice on a sidewalk) that same day, I drove from Baltimore back to the Capital Hill area to give it one more shot at recovering Justin’s ring. I was already two for three in successful searches and I wanted so badly to be able to get this one back for the young man!

I believe I arrived in Katie’s neighborhood some time around 4 PM or so. As soon as I parked my car, I removed all of the equipment that I would need to conduct this final attempt at finding the glorious A&M “Super Bowl” class ring. For this go around, I decided I would change my detector and use one that had a reduced coil size at the bottom of machine’s shaft. A coil is the round piece at the end of the machine which you use to scan the ground with. Just in case I missed the target because of larger pieces of metal “masking” this smaller piece of precious metal, I wanted to use a smaller disc so that I could create “separation” between such objects just in case that was the hang-up here with me not finding the ring on the first go around.

My first action taken in this Act Two of the search was to rescan the entire street as much as I possibly could just to make sure that I didn’t miss anything. Some of the cars that were parked earlier in the day were no longer there, so I had an excellent opportunity to detect some of those questionable spots for the missing ring. After all of my efforts spent looking for the jewel out there, just like before, I still did not find the precious piece of gold anywhere on that large portion of asphalt.

I then took my machine to the opposite side of the street and searched farther away in order to cover places where Justin’s class ring could have ended up due to a mightier throw of one of his snow balls. I metal detected not only the sidewalk as I did before, but I also checked out all of the remaining patches of snow and ice that had gathered up on the neighbor’s properties just below their front steps. When nothing turned up again, I really started getting concerned that this search might turn out to be a “closure story” rather than a successful one. I had to rule out all of the territory in the street, under the cars, and all of the public territory across the street and beyond the sidewalk that was on the other side. This led me to search my third and final section, which was to return back to Katie’s lawn and carefully rescan that snow-covered piece of real estate one more time.

As I walked my equipment back over to the side of the street where Justin stood on the sidewalk and had fired off his snow artillery rounds, my imagination started to torment me with negative thoughts that perhaps some pedestrian walking by (maybe a couple of hours after Justin returned home for the rest of the night) eyeballed the handsome mass of gold that could have been missed by Justin and his group. ‘If this truly did happen, all of my travels and all of my time searching would have been completely in vain’, I told myself. Yet, I fought hard against those opposing whispers in my mind and I willed myself to stay positive and believe that all of those A&M graduates scanned the territory around them well enough that there was no chance that someone could have caught a glance of that special hunk of precious metal.

It was finally time to begin metal detecting the snow covered lawn once more. One of the most important reasons why I chose to use a different metal detector (which had the small 6 inch disk at the bottom of it) was to make sure that I didn’t end up missing the class ring around this particular section of the search site due to the metal masking element that I mentioned earlier. I wanted to have more flexibility to move with ease under the bushes and also to create separation between any one opposing piece of metal and Justin’s class ring (if it was buried in the snow up there on the lawn) somewhere in that vicinity. Upon leaving the search site earlier with no positive results, I made it my plan to recheck this particular spot with this type of coil.

As I started this last leg of my search, I chose to scan over the snow and ice at the far left corner of the wall (which would be just to the right of where one would walk up the steps to the house). Then, I slowly and methodically worked my way to my right as I faced the house and scanned from left to right above the wall on the lawn. Already I could tell that this smaller coil helped me to figure out what was part of the electrical outdoor lighting system and what was not. It was not until I started to detect around the third bush (I believe it was), that I encountered a very curious target signal that my machine indicated on its screen. When I scanned in a certain place under the little hedge, my detector monitor showed a particular number representing that unique object. However, when I moved the disc just slightly over to the right and around the bush by just a few inches, a different number altogether appeared on my machine. This immediately told me that I was working with two different pieces of metal that were extremely close to one another. The last time that I was out at the search site, my other machine did not differentiate between that one mysterious object and the second one (which was part of the lighting system).

As the intrigue within me started to build, I took out my handheld detector which is called a pinpointer and I placed it under the bush to get an idea as to where both of these pieces of metal were hiding. The first target identified happened to be part of the light structure that stuck out of the ground with a wire connected to it. At that point I was so hoping that the two signals that I had originally picked up would not be just two different pieces of hardware related to the same lighting system. Next, I moved the pinpointer over the surface of the snow just about 4 inches from the other metal objects that I had just analyzed a moment earlier. To my excitement, another separate object made of metal was detected by my pinpointer. I knew this was something different than the other pieces that I had just uncovered because when I placed the pinpointer in the space between the objects, there was no signal. This is what metal detectorists call “separation” between objects.

My heart began to race with the hope that this mysterious target that I discovered might possibly be what we all had been searching for for nearly 20 hours. With my winter glove still shielding my cold fingers, I carefully removed enough snow away until I made my way down to where the curious target was buried below. Just then, as I cleared a little bit more white stuff out-of-the-way, I began to see that all so familiar shiny gold color peeking out from below the remaining layer of ice! I couldn’t believe it! It was the Aggie ring! I caught a glimpse of the beautiful diamond in the center of that most handsome A&M graduation class ring! The 10 karat yellow gold was so brilliant and spotless in appearance that it looked as if the piece of jewelry had never been worn! There are truly not enough words to express everything that I was experiencing out there on that Washington DC sidewalk as I was looking over the stone wall and underneath the bush where the ring was discovered! Because I did not find the ring anywhere on the street, sidewalks, and on the lawn during my first search earlier that day, I really didn’t think there was much of a chance that I was going to end up finding the Aggie prize at that point. It all came down to the issue of “masking”. The metal that made up part of that lighting system ended up masking the ring so that what I was getting on the other machine that I was using were the signals that pertained to the lighting parts rather than the 10 karat gold item that I was so yearning to find!

As I stared at the ring, my face just lit up with the biggest smile and I spoke under my breath saying to myself, ‘These searches never cease to amaze me!’ That is why I never give up until I know for certain that I exhausted every chance and possibility of finding the lost item before having to throw the towel in and declare a cease-fire!

At the time that I discovered the Aggie ring, Katie was inside the house. I wanted to surprise both she and Justin together at the same time, so when the young lady came outside to “receive an update from me”, I requested that we do a FaceTime video call with Justin. That’s when I shocked the living daylights out of her and Justin right there on the front sidewalk. They were absolutely in shock and the excitement and elation experienced between the three of us at that moment was simply off the charts! It’s with these kind of reactions that illustrate why us ring finders love what we do and why we love helping people like Justin and Katie! Some of the other friends inside the house were witnesses to my incredible fake out event and they too were in a state of shock and awe! Everyone could not stop thanking me for the successful recovery operation! Justin was totally floored by the amazing news and later he admitted that he had resolved in his own mind that the ring would probably never be seen again. When we first met on the phone, we both learned that the two of us were God-fearing men and we prayed for the Lord’s favor on this search. So at the end of my reveal we all gave thanks to the Lord for His favor and wisdom that was bestowed upon me in helping Justin with this project. Once I finished with the big surprise on FaceTime, I showed everybody where I ended up finding the beloved class ring. It was pretty easy to conclude that Justin lost his ring when he was manufacturing all of his snowballs on the lawn while standing on the sidewalk. He reached over the stone wall and while he was forming the ice balls, the ring must have slipped off of his very cold and shrunk finger causing the ring to burrow itself down below the snow under that one particular bush. That large hunk of gold never left Katie’s lawn! It was there all along, covered with snow under that one particular bush. It just so happened that Justin (along with all the rest of his gang) never could spot the gold piece because of where it was hiding under all of that white! When I completed my summary with the two of them, they were pretty taken back by the whole story and the remaining friends in the house were also extremely excited for such a great ending to this very traumatic situation!

The next day I had the privilege of personally meeting Justin and all of the rest of his Aggie friends who worked on Capitol Hill with him. We rendezvoused very close to the Capital building after they all got off work and that’s when we celebrated with hugs, high fives, a prayer of thanks to the Lord and lastly a few photos taken for the memory books! All of rejoiced at the return of this very special A&M class ring that was specifically made for Justin who proudly earned that gold and diamond trophy after so many years of hard work! What a wonderful time it was out there with Justin, Katie and some of his other friends! Every time I recount this special story, I still can’t stop smiling while thinking about how amazing this search and recovery operation turned out so successful in the end! It was simply an incredible experience that I will never forget!

How to Metal Detect a Platinum Diamond Wedding Ring in Sofa…Burke, Virginia

  • from Washington (District of Columbia, United States)

Alexandra’s Beautiful Platinum Diamond Ring Recovered in Sofa by Expert Ring Finder Brian Rudolph in Burke, Virginia

Alexandra and Bryan Smiling Happily Ever After Now That Ring Finder Rudolph of THE RING FINDERS Found the Couple’s Sentimental Symbol of Love!

Brian Rudolph, Lost Item Recovery Specialist (Land, Water, Sand, Snow, Leaves, Houses & Vehicles) Will Find Your Lost Keepsake! Call ASAP (301) 466-8644!

I received a call from a young lady named Alexandra who needed my help to find two missing items in her home. One was a gold cross pendant and the other was her platinum wedding band with multiple round and baguette diamonds encircled around the band. Alexandra let me know that she lost her pendant a week prior to our contact and then the wedding band went missing a couple of days after that. When she and her husband Bryan tried everything to recover the jewelry and then their efforts ultimately led to no avail, that was when the young lady felt it was time to call a professional ring finder (if one even existed) in order to help the couple solve these two mysteries!

Alexandra found me online when she was searching for a specialist to help her find the lost pendant and ring. My client came across the elite international directory of metal detectorists called THE RING FINDERS and within a short period of time, Alexandra was on the phone talking with me about the details of these two disappearances. I was excited to help the couple knowing my past successes with in-house searches for missing property. I love solving these mysteries and this particular search intrigued me a great deal because it involved searching for two very different types of items that were lost completely independent of one another.

Because we were dealing with an in-house search, I encouraged Alexandra to check out past articles and videos of mine that show my successes while searching for lost property in people’s homes. She had done her research in advance of her calling me, so we were all set to go to schedule an appointment for me to come out and give it a shot on solving these cases.

The very next day I headed out to Burke, Virginia extremely excited about taking on this brand new challenge before me. When I arrived, Alexandra went over all of the details regarding both pieces of property that she had lost over the last week. With regards to the crucifix, she took me over to a dining room table padded bench where she found only the chain that the pendant was originally connected to. She explained that when she fastened the chain, she accidentally did not connect the clasp correctly and that had explained why the chain was not even broken when she found it on the bench seat. Alexandra went on to share that she looked everywhere for the beloved crucifix, searching the upstairs bathroom (where she had initially put it on) as well as scouring her bedroom, kitchen area, living room and even the back seat of her car. No matter how much teamwork was given to the couple’s efforts, the very special cross was nowhere to be found.

As far as the missing wedding band was concerned, Alexandra and her husband Brian shared that the only place that the ring most likely had ended up was the sofa in the living room. When my client laid down on the couch to take a nap, she believed that she took both her engagement ring and wedding band off and placed them beside each other somewhere on one of the cushions. Then, when she awoke, the rings were both gone. Bryan searched throughout that area and he swore that he heard a “jingle” sound while lifting up the cushions to inspect underneath. To both of their surprise, Alexandra spotted the engagement ring right at the edge of where one part of the sectional piece connected to a second sectional piece. The two of them figured they would find the wedding band somewhere close to the other ring that was discovered, but when they searched over and over again, they could not find the platinum and diamond wedding band anywhere. Alexandra and Brian both believed that the sentimental keepsake must have ended up down below in one of those sectional pieces belonging to the sofa. However, no matter how they flipped the couch and used flashlights to shine down inside the rectangular shaped furniture, neither one of them could spot the missing-in- action piece of jewelry.

Once I completed collecting all of the facts needed to start the first search, I pulled out the gear that I needed to begin looking for the lost crucifix pendant and then headed to the second floor to start the recovery operation. I checked every square inch of each of the rooms where Alexandra had shared where she put the chain on in the bathroom as well as moved around in the master bedroom and another room that was adjacent to it. I inspected all of the carpets and all of the spaces between the walls and the carpet and still nothing turned up. Then, I placed my endoscope down into the sink, but it was completely clear, along with every crack and crevice that I found underneath the plumbing and below the sink cabinet. Once I cleared all of the rooms, I moved my way down the hall back towards the stairs and analyzed all of the carpet as I moved my way back towards the first level.

When dealing with in-house searches, there will be those times when the case that I’m trying to crack just keeps on getting more mysterious as I check every which place in the rooms that were associated with its disappearance. No matter how detailed the search is conducted, for whatever reason, the treasure sometimes doesn’t make itself known. In regards to this case, I thoroughly inspected every open space in the foyer of the house, all of the kitchen and drawers that would apply to this particular search, all of the eating areas along with checking where the detached chain was found lying on the bench at the table where the couple would generally eat. Still, nothing was found. When everything checked out to be clear in the living room as well, I put my jacket and shoes on and headed outside to metal detect the front lawn that led down to the sidewalk (just in case Alexandra had lost her piece of jewelry as she went to her car to grab a couple things before returning back inside). I was truly hoping I would find the gold in that region but still there was nothing positive to speak about after finishing that section of the property. The very last place that I had to check was the back seat and floor of Alexander’s vehicle, but sad to say, upon doing a thorough review, it checked out to be as clean as a whistle. Therefore I had to conclude that the 14 karat gold cross would not be recovered under my watch. I was hopeful that perhaps the couple would stumble across the jewelry in the basement or someplace else where Alexandra didn’t remember where she walked when wearing the loose chain and pendant. One thing was for sure and that was that my client was confident that the crucifix did not end up in her clothes. Alexandra recounted with me that she carefully examined all of what she was wearing that day and the cross did not stick to or stay in any of what she was wearing at the time of the crucifix’s disappearance.

I was quite disappointed that I was not able to report good news to the couple regarding my search for the lost sentimental piece of jewelry. However, the two of them agreed to keep their eyes wide open just in case it might turn up over time. As soon as I completed my brief regarding Search Number One, I turned the page and began a new chapter with my second search at hand. Knowing all of the details that revolved around the lost platinum and diamond wedding band, I was pretty confident that I would recover the band. I made my way over to the living room couch where I had been earlier when looking for the pendant and immediately began inspecting the only suspected “scene of the crime”.

I just love searching for people’s lost property and especially this particular in-house recovery operation. I first got out my endoscope once more (which I had used earlier in various places where I needed to check any gaps and spaces where the crucifix could have slipped into and disappeared) and I placed my probe down into a narrow space at the top of the left sofa sectional piece. I wanted to see if the wedding band had made its way down inside that very narrow slit. This space that I am speaking about happened to be part of the sofa hardware that helped to connect the left portion of the couch to its right counterpart. It made the most sense that if Alexandra found her beloved engagement ring just near the edge of the left sectional (which was very close to that narrow opening), her precious wedding band probably had fallen down into that space when Bryan had first removed the left cushion and heard that “jingle” noise (as if the ring hit something as it was traveling out of sight).

As I maneuvered the endoscope lens every which way possible in order to view every square inch of that particular piece of furniture, I kept my eyes glued to my monitor screen just in case a curious target would come into sight. I must have checked that sectional for at least 10 minutes observing every corner and chamber, but it all checked out to be clear from what I was seeing on my monitor. If I did not find the ring in the next sectional, I was determined to return back to the previous piece of furniture and resume my search where I had first started to probe.

It was now time to take my investigation over to the second sectional piece that was to the right of the one that I had just checked out. This particular sofa piece was identical to its counterpart, except that its slit was positioned near the left edge where it was connected to the left sectional. Once again I placed the endoscope down into that narrow space and searched all of the same places that I had observed in the previous site next to it. At first everything seemed to check out perfectly with no sign of a piece of jewelry anywhere. It even started to make me wonder if perhaps I would not score on my second in-house search for the irreplaceable platinum and diamond wedding band. However, just as I was positioning the probe on a certain angle in a particular spot inside that second sectional piece, I saw on my monitor screen what appeared to be a thin sliver of metal that was wedged between some internal fabric of that particular piece of furniture. I did not want to get too excited at first because from my first vantage point it almost looked like it was the rim of a nickel or some other coin. I didn’t want to get overly optimistic, but this image on my screen definitely got my attention towards this particular object! After a few more tries of wielding the endoscope snake in such a way that I could get a better glimpse of what this target actually was, my eyes began to widen as I viewed on the monitor what appeared to be several diamonds inserted into this mysterious piece of metal! In fact, the more I twisted my endoscope cable to get a better fix on my target, the more round and baguette shaped diamonds could be seen encircling this most beautiful metallic “halo”! I had found the ring indeed! What a rush that was to behold such an amazing sight! There is really nothing like the experience of being able to search and then identify the missing piece of jewelry which could not previously be found by my bewildered and frustrated clients! It brings me so much joy to be able to return something that holds such emotion and sentimental worth that when I find something like this, it just sends me to the moon and back!

Now that I had located the gorgeous piece of platinum and diamonds, I was left with the task of carefully retrieving the missing item from its unique hiding place. The strategy I used was to place a hook on the end of my device and return to the spot where I had first discovered the object. Then, I would carefully attempt to grab a hold of a part of the band in order to extract it from the furniture’s dark inner chamber. I’m excited to share that within a few minutes of attempting this operation inside the right sectional, I was able to successfully grab ahold of Alexander’s wedding band and safely bring it up and out of the slit of the right sectional piece! The search was over! Yes, I successfully recovered Alexander’s most exquisite diamond wedding band! It really was a beautiful piece of art! Knowing how sentimentally priceless this symbol of love meant to the couple, I couldn’t wait to surprise Alexandra the moment that I called her upstairs (as she was working in the basement) to review what I had done thus far! When I did the reveal just minutes after finding the wedding band, uncontrollable emotion made its way down the sides of this young lady’s eyes as I held up the piece of platinum between my fingers! That one-of-a-kind ring which was originally placed upon Alexandra’s finger on the day of holy matrimony between she and Bryan was now finally on display once again!!

It was another amazing moment which never gets old for me when I get to return something as cherished as this back to the finger of my client! Alexandra and Bryan were so grateful for my work and expertise in recovering this lost item for them! Even though I was not able to find the crucifix, the three of us rejoiced and celebrated the success of finding the second lost item! Just looking at Alexander’s face, you could tell how relieved she was to finally get her diamond ring back on her left hand and move on from all of the distractions that had taken place over a week earlier!

Before I left, we took some pictures and then Bryan poured each of us a glass of “something special” and he made a toast to the successful recovery of Alexander’s most precious sentimental keepsake! What a wonderful time it was and I will never forget this extremely special couple who entrusted me with their irreplaceable “symbol of love”!

Lost Wedding Band in Audi Car…Found by In-Vehicle Ring Recovery Specialist in Arnold, Maryland

  • from Washington (District of Columbia, United States)

Natalie’s Beautiful 14 Karat White Gold Diamond Wedding Band Sparkling Once Again After Being Found by In-Vehicle Item Recovery Specialist Brian Rudolph!

Natalie’s Beaming Smile Resonates Happiness All Across Her Arnold, Maryland Neighborhood After Learning that Ring Finder Brian Rudolph Recovered Her Lost Sentimental Wedding Keepsake!

Brian Rudolph, Lost Item Recovery Specialist (Land, Water, Sand, Snow, Leaves, Houses & Vehicles) Will Find Your Lost Keepsake! Call ASAP (301) 466-8644!

I received a call from a young lady named Natalie in Arnold, Maryland (a suburb of Annapolis) who desperately needed my help to find a 14 karat white gold wedding band encircled with diamonds. She and her husband Carter scoured their Audi for several days hoping to find the precious keepsake, but all of their efforts unfortunately fell flat. Here is the backstory:

Four days prior to receiving the couple’s cry for help, Carter and Natalie went out on the town for a Saturday date night. On the way back home from dinner, Natalie was sitting in the front passenger seat casually talking with her husband while she “twiddled around” with her three rings. She was wearing her engagement ring and two wedding bands (yes, that’s right, two identical wedding bands that together add to the sparkle and “pop” effect on her finger). At some point during their commute, one of the matching wedding bands slipped off of Natalie’s hand and disappeared somewhere in the car. The distraught passenger heard an immediate noise as if the precious keepsake bounced off of a piece of plastic, so Natalie was confident that as soon as they parked she would be able to find the jewel.

Instead of waiting until the couple arrived home, Carter pulled over into a parking garage so that his wife could retrieve the band off of the carpet. There was only one problem – as soon as Natalie got out of the vehicle to search for the runaway ring, it was nowhere to be found! It was if it had disappeared into thin air! Over and over again the bewildered woman scanned the luxurious vehicle but continued to come away with no results. Then, Carter jumped into action and he too became perplexed as to what could have happened to this little fellow! The couple decided at that point to return back to their Arnold, Maryland house for the night and to continue their search the following day.

As I shared above, for the next several days Natalie and her husband Carter searched everywhere in their Audi hoping to finally make sense as to what could have possibly happened to Natalie’s beloved keepsake. The two of them tried everything to recover the lost wedding band, but unfortunately none of their efforts came to fruition.

Thinking that the little piece of jewelry must have slipped into a small crevice or crack under the seat, Carter got access to an endoscope and attempted to identify where the ring had ended up with his newly acquired electronic device. That strategy ended up being another bust in the list of ideas to try out. Back and forth, the couple kept taking turns trying again and again to find the missing-in-action sentimental keepsake. Sadly, at some point, Natalie and Carter recognized that with all of their diligent efforts, they were not qualified to be able to identify and extract the jewel from the Audi (if in fact it was really still there inside the vehicle).

Four days later after the initial incident took place, Natalie was at work and one of her fellow employees happened to step forward and search online for some kind of help for the poor young lady. That is when things began to turn around in this extremely frustrating string of events. The staff member found a website belonging to the elite international directory of metal detectorists called THE RING FINDERS. As Natalie read all about this very unique website that provides an unlimited database of highly competent item recovery specialists, she was more convinced more than ever that her answer was finally close at hand. The young lady looked up a specialist near her home and my name, Brian, Rudolph, popped up on her device. Natalie not only read that I was a successful metal detectorist, but that I also have much success in recovering lost rings inside vehicles of many kinds. With no time to waste, she immediately reached out to me and before long we scheduled an appointment for me to meet up with the couple at their Arnold, Maryland house.

The next morning, I drove to Natalie and Carter’s place where I could not wait to indulge myself in yet another in-vehicle search and recovery operation. I was still experiencing a tremendous high since my last in-vehicle success story just a couple of weeks earlier in Winchester, Virginia. It was an incredible search story that I will never forget! I was able to recover a very special family heirloom gold diamond ring for a young man who was devastated at the loss of his father who died a year earlier and then the loss of his father’s ring six months later. Now I had another opportunity to preserve another sentimental story about a lost ring that once was presented to Natalie on the day of her marriage several years earlier. If I was not able to recover this very special “symbol of love” from the vehicle, it would mean that the precious keepsake would never be worn again and therefore it certainly would not have the chance to be passed down Natalie’s family line as a cherished family heirloom one day.

As soon as I arrived, Natalie came out to the parking lot and began to show me what had taken place in the vehicle many days earlier. I had her reenact the entire event so that I could get a better idea of what could have happened to the wedding band. After my client concluded her demonstration, I shared with her that my biggest concern was that the ring may have been on her lap the whole time and then when she got out of the vehicle to search the Audi, she may not have realized that the ring fell onto the parking garage pavement. She too wondered if that was what happened to the band that she so desperately had been searching for to no avail. However, because she heard that particular “ping” noise immediately following the moment when the ring fell off of her finger, it was more likely that the ring did remain inside the vehicle. I did mention to Natalie that if the ring did make its way outside of the car, it probably happened because the wedding band had fell down between the door kick panel and the door itself. Then, when she opened the car door, the piece of white gold and diamonds fell out and rolled onto the concrete slab where the car was parked. I was hoping that that was not what actually happened, but we still had to realistically assess the situation and identify all possibilities as I was about to take on this next search and recovery challenge. Natalie reassured me that she and Carter checked and re-checked the parking garage concrete pavement to make sure that the wedding band did not drop to the ground and then roll out of sight. Her words were quite encouraging for me to hear as I was about to invest quite a bit of time with this attempted recovery operation.

Once Natalie and I completed my orientation inside the Audi, I went to my detecting backpack that was in a wagon that I wheeled down the street to the couple’s residence and then pulled out the necessary gear to begin the search. Because one cannot use a metal detector inside of a vehicle due to the massive amounts of metal that the vehicle is made out of, I have to resort to using other tools to help me identify lost items, such as my endoscope (which allows me to search corners, crevices and other spaces that the human eye cannot see). The first section of the car that I wanted to check out was the area under Natalie’s passenger seat. I knew from the facts given to me that the ring did not fly over to the driver side seat. She was playing with it and there was no indication that the wedding band flew across her side over to where Carter was stationed. Therefore, if in fact the ring was still inside the vehicle, I did not need to waste my time scanning the left portion of the Audi.

As I fed the endoscope lens below Natalie’s seat, I inspected both of her seat rails along with checking the lower air vent, gaps between the console carpet, and the floor carpet where the two merge underneath Natalie’s seat. I studied every crevice and corner that my endoscope allowed me to view on my monitor screen as I was not about to miss a single millimeter of space, knowing from past experiences how these rings can disappear into the most unlikely of places. Sometimes these recovery operations turn out to be a lot easier than anticipated. Based on the testimony of my client, the couple may not have had the correct tools to use, or perhaps they just happened to miss seeing the object of desire as they searched throughout the vehicle. In this particular case, I was initially able to conclude that Natalie’s precious keepsake was not hiding in some typical and obvious location and that this search could end up being a whole lot more complicated.

Once I completed my initial search under Natalie’s seat, I moved to the rear of the same seat and began to observe any and all additional places where I was not able to monitor from the front side. I made absolute certain that I didn’t miss the irreplaceable band anywhere from the rear. When I was satisfied that everything was clear of the jewel, it was time for me to check the right side of Natalie’s seat.

Knowing that the ring was not found in any of those potential spots underneath the front passenger seat, it was time to explore in and around the seat recliner lever mechanism that was located on the side of the seat. Remember, I had mentioned earlier that Natalie heard her ring bounce off of something that sounded like plastic. Therefore, my thinking was that it was quite possible that when the ring slipped away from Natalie’s finger, it rolled to the right side of her and bounced off of the lever and possibly ended up inside the mechanism. I wanted to make sure that the ring wasn’t trapped inside that particular part before continuing to search in any other location in the vehicle.

I brought all of my equipment back around to the front passenger side floor and began inspecting the recliner handle and the inner components of that part. Unfortunately, there were no possible spots where the ring could have gotten jammed in the mechanism. So, once again, I had to cross out yet another theory and move on to the next possible location where the diamond band may have ended up.

It was at this point in the search that I had to stop for a minute and recount all of the details which Natalie had given me on the phone and in person during her reenactment of what happened in the Audi four days prior to my arrival. Unless the ring fell out of the car when she opened the door in the parking garage, I had to keep telling myself that the jewel was still inside the Audi, trapped in a location that would really challenge a ring finder like myself to find.

Here are some of the facts and clues that I reconciled in my mind before attacking the next place where the ring might have ended up:

One, Natalie shared that she did not throw the ring, but rather, it slipped off of her finger. Therefore, it did not ricochet anywhere with too much speed or force involved when it took off.

Two, because I checked everywhere on the left side of Natalie’s front seat, I was 100% confident that the ring did not travel to the left of her body and then down under the left side of her seat. I clearly checked every square millimeter in that region and there was no way I had missed it.

Three, my client swore that she heard a “ping” sound as if the ring hit some type of plastic part inside the vehicle. If that was the case, it meant that the ring had to have gone in the direction towards the right front door. I knew after checking the side caddy compartment that was attached to the inner door skin that the ring did not fly into that isolated area. This all meant that wherever the ring ended up, it had to travel across Natalie’s right side and bounce somewhere off of some type of plastic piece and then land below that particular section.

Four, since I scanned with my endoscope all of the real estate within the side seat recliner lever mechanism (and there was no ring there and there was no ring under the seat as well), I had to conclude at that point, knowing all the facts given so far, that the jewel most likely bounced off of the recliner lever and disappeared into a crevice or space somewhere below that upper region.

All of these facts and deductions that I reviewed out there by the car helped me focus on the next possible location where the ring could have possibly ended up. In fact, there was only one place that I had left to check where Natalie’s beloved keepsake could have slipped into and disappeared out of sight somewhere. As I studied my surroundings further, the path that the ring most likely took after bouncing off of the side recliner lever mechanism was towards a very narrow slit that was located in a plastic trim panel that separated the front door jamb from the rear jamb. This particular piece of trim covered up the seatbelt which was bolted to the frame underneath that piece of plastic. The belt itself was threaded through that slit and then carried upward through a plastic guide ring where it then hung down waiting for a passenger to reach for it to buckle it in.

I kept staring at that very tiny slit in that panel where the seatbelt came out and I thought that the odds of Natalie’s ring jumping from the side lever mechanism and going airborne right into that tiny space was probably a thousand to one chance that it would have made it into that slit. Even the angle of the band had to perfectly maneuver itself on an exact angle and pitch for the piece of jewelry to slide perfectly into that narrow chamber and then fall into darkness below that trim panel. Yet, with the odds completely against my theory, it was all I had to work with and so I began making preparations to scan that very petite opening and see if the band traveled in and below it.

My first step in searching this last possible section was to place the endoscope into that very narrow slit to see what was down below. Regretfully, I was not able to fit the head of the lens into that narrow space so I had to look for another way in. As I followed that center vertical plastic trim piece down towards the carpet, I noticed that there was a rectangular plastic cut out piece that was designed to pull back from the main trim panel in order to have access to the seatbelt fastening bolt. The manufacture designed this piece in order for the mechanic to have easier access in removing and replacing the tie down bolt which holds the belt fabric to the frame. Once I got that small trim piece pulled back, I placed my endoscope down into the hole and searched everywhere below where the center vertical frame met up with the flooring and carpet.

Even though I thought that this particular spot that I was investigating had little to no chance of producing the missing ring, my attitude was the same as every other search that I have conducted. That is, I eliminate every possibility until I find the missing object, or that I don’t find it at all and therefore conclude that the item was no longer in that particular environment. I must have placed the endoscope lens in twenty or more locations down in that narrow chamber and nothing but carpet threads could be seen on my monitor screen. I kept changing the angles so that I didn’t miss a thing and still there was no jewelry to be discovered.

Knowing that this was my best and only chance remaining, I continued searching in that particular area and I decided to start pushing the snake farther down between the space where the carpet padding (eggshell white colored foam) was pressed up against the metal flooring. From what I could tell, there was nothing at all sandwiched between the vehicle carpet and the padding below it. Therefore, I wanted to search some more between the foam and the actual metal flooring just in case the piece of white gold somehow made its way farther and deeper across the Audi floor below.

It was not easy trying to push the endoscope between the foam and the floor. There was so much resistance because of how everything was compressed together that it convinced me even more that there was no way that a ring could somehow slip in between so much friction between that little space that I was observing. Yet, I didn’t give up and I just kept pushing farther and farther across the flooring in the direction of where the seat was bolted to the floor in the rear.

Just a reminder for the reader: The whole time I was looking at my monitor screen as I pushed the video camera snake farther along the flooring towards where the right rear seat frame support was bolted into the floor. I probably got the scope to reach approximately 5 inches away from the center support beam. Reaching that far away starting from the right inner edge inside the car, I didn’t think there was a chance in the world that any kind of metal would show up on my monitor screen. Then, as I kept on searching that underside section of the foam padding, at some point, just before I was about to pull the endoscope out and call it quits, I saw something appear on my screen that slightly resembled a piece of jewelry. At first I thought perhaps it was just a reflection of the floor itself. However, the more that I repositioned the endoscope in multiple angles, the more I got convinced that I was staring at my first potential target! My mind and heart started to race faster with great curiosity, intrigue and anticipation as I pondered the possibility that against all odds, I may have found the ring that had disappeared into thin air four days earlier!

As I shared earlier, I had recently been a part of not just one in-vehicle search in Alexandria, Virginia, but actually involved in several other crazy in-vehicle searches that were certainly unbelievable success stories! And pondering upon what I potentially had just discovered while staring at the endoscope screen, this one would add to another amazing story to share with my readers if indeed what I was seeing on the screen was actually Natalie’s sentimental wedding keepsake!

Because this object had burrowed its way far across the flooring of the vehicle, I was unable to push and position the endoscope any better than how I placed it thus far. So, in order for me to correctly identify that particular target, I needed to remove my snake from the trim panel slot and try reinserting the lens from a different location in the vehicle. After taking a few minutes to assess the situation, I determined that the best entry point for the endoscope would have to be under the trim panel that ran across the floor (which covered the edge of the carpeting as well as the metal floor reinforcement). It turned out that the floor trim molding actually was part of the vertical trim panel (all one piece) where I stuck the endoscope down in that one particular slot below where the seatbelt went into the plastic slit above it. Knowing that this was all one piece, I would need to loosen both the vertical panel and the lower floor horizontal trim cover molding all at the same time, since it was manufactured together as one “L” shaped part. Recognizing that there was some risk in breaking the large piece of plastic, I sought Natalie’s permission for me to go ahead with lifting the lower portion of this trim panel and molding in order to get better access to this mysterious object. I purposely didn’t tell Natalie that I had a particular target that I was working on identifying just so that I didn’t raise her hopes up too high if this pursuit for success turned out to be a bust. My client agreed to allow me to attempt the loosening of the large trim panel and then I immediately got busy with the removal process.

Slowly and carefully I used a couple of tools to release the trim panel from all of its connectors in order for me to lift it up to get access underneath with the endoscope. Then, I slid the snake as deep in as it would travel until I got it approximately in the same location as to where I believed I initially saw that piece of metal. When I realized that my probe still required some flexibility in moving the endoscope cable, I pulled back the carpet and used my box cutter to remove some excess foam padding below the main carpet. With every inch of material that I got rid of, I found that I had much more ability to wield the endoscope in a variety of different angles that I had previously been unable to perform.

As I positioned the camera back in the zone that I was aiming for again, I was quite encouraged to find a unique piece of colored thread that I had identified when I had originally placed the scope down that first opening of the vertical center trim panel. I was certain now that I was right where I needed to be and it was now just a matter of maneuvering the lens around to find that silver looking object that showed up on my screen earlier. Perhaps another few minutes went by as I continued to search for that particular target, and then a huge rush of encouragement came my way! While I was pulling back the more of the carpet and foam padding as much as I possibly could, I pushed the endoscope just another inch or so in a particular direction on a certain angle and there before me was what looked like a thin silver colored “halo” shaped object that was tightly wedged in between the carpet foam padding and the floor of the vehicle! This was the best visual coverage that I had seen on my monitor screen since observing just a portion of that piece of metal earlier!

I started to get extremely excited about discovering this new additional puzzle piece and I was becoming more convinced that this object actually was the lost ring!  Knowing that it was nearly impossible for this target to be some other random object that “happened” to resemble a ring and just “happened” to make its way that far into the foam padding where it met up with the floor, I had to believe that I had found what initially seemed to be unobtainable! At that point, nothing was going to stop me from fully identifying what this round shaped object was! I kept positioning and repositioning the camera and tried to come alongside the target to see if I could make out any specific details that could help me further identify the piece of metal. After another minute or two of this same maneuvering technique with the endoscope, with great excitement, my answer finally arrived before my very eyes! There it was on the endoscope monitor! My eyes beheld several pretty diamonds that were encircled around the band of this metal object! They sparkled so brilliantly, shooting off countless rays of reflected light from my faithful scope’s LED beam! It was if every “ice” facet was sending me endless beacon distress calls, hoping that I was there to rescue that most sentimental piece of precious metal from the darkness where the ring had been hiding all this time! I couldn’t believe what I was looking at! Honestly, I was totally taken back by this very unexpected discovery of Natalie’s lost ring!

Not in my wildest dreams did I think that the diamond wedding band could have ricocheted off of the side seat lever mechanism and fly perfectly into that very narrow slit that was just wide enough for a very thin ring to go down into it! It had to approach the opening on a perfect angle for it to enter the plastic trim where the seatbelt exited! The chances of this happening were astronomical indeed! Then, to add to that craziness, the jewel disappeared below into the darkness, moving its way between the carpet pad and the floor and then traveled across the flooring approximately 5 inches or so until it settled down to its final resting place!

Prior to this recovery operation, I thought that I could never experience greater shocks of surprise from my other recoveries in the vehicles that I had searched in the past couple of months! Now, this one certainly took the cake by far! It never ceases to amaze me where these circles of love ultimately end up! My face lit up and I kept saying out loud to myself, “This is amazing! This is absolutely unbelievable! I can’t believe I did it! I did it! I found her ring!” I then began to thank the Lord for answering Natalie’s and my prayer which we lifted up to the Lord earlier on before I started the search. I felt such favor from God in helping me figure out where the wedding band had ended up all of this time! I was truly thankful for all of the Lord’s help with the wisdom He had given me that particular day!

Now that I finally located and identified Natalie‘s lost wedding memento, I needed to perform a particular procedure to extract the ring from its hiding place. There was no way that I could use my fingers to reach and retrieve the precious piece of jewelry, so I connected a special hook to the end of my probe and worked hard to catch the little halo in order to successfully rescue it from the darkness and return it once more to the person and place where it was greatly missed – Natalie’s left hand’s ring finger! I am very proud to share that within a few minutes of adjusting my strategy to hook and capture the jewel, I was able to successfully remove the sentimental keepsake from under the padding! For the first time since I located my target on the endoscope screen, I got to finally hold that beautiful diamond ring in my hand and see the precious white gold and diamonds with my own eyes!

The whole experience was simply breathtaking! I really didn’t believe this was all happening due to all of the impossibilities that surrounded this particular search! The greatest part of finding this irreplaceable piece of jewelry was that I got to then surprise the living daylights out of Natalie and her husband Carter! What a moment that was! My clients were completely blown away by the news that I revealed to them, and more importantly the shock I gave when I showed the evidence of my success that I held between my fingers! The three of us celebrated with so much excitement and elation! No one could really grasp the reality of what had just taken place! It all seemed just so surreal what had finally been restored to Natalie‘s finger! And not only that… but also what was preserved forever – a very meaningful symbol of love that told a very special love story that began ‘once upon a time‘!

Lost Wedding Diamond Ring on Fairfax Station, Virginia Estate Lawn… Found by Ring Finder

  • from Washington (District of Columbia, United States)

Laura of Fairfax Station, Virginia So Beyond Excited for the Return of Her Most Precious Platinum Diamond Wedding Band that was Found by Ring Finder Brian Rudolph!

Laura’s Beautiful Platinum Wedding Band Surrounded by Lovely Diamonds Found by Brian Rudolph on Laura and Martin’s Gorgeous Estate in Fairfax Station, Virginia!

Brian Rudolph, Lost Item Recovery Specialist (Land, Water, Sand, Snow, Leaves, Houses & Vehicles) Will Find Your Lost Keepsake! Call ASAP (301) 466-8644!

I was contacted one winter afternoon by a very kind gentleman named Martin who was desperately trying to help his wife Laura recover her lost platinum diamond engagement ring and her platinum diamond wedding band that had both disappeared on their Fairfax Station, Virginia estate grounds sometime earlier that day. Martin planned to go and buy a metal detector to see if he could find the two pieces of jewelry before scheduling me out to his property. He just wanted to make sure that I was available if he should need my services in the end. As it turned out, Martin eyeballed the engagement ring without using his metal detector, but the wedding band could not be recovered. He kept trying to find the missing keepsake for several hours but finally in the end, the passionate husband decided to give up and “hand over the keys” of this search and recovery operation to me, Brian Rudolph, a proud member of the elite international directory of metal detectorists called THE RING FINDERS.

The backstory goes like this. Laura had expected some visitors later on in the day, so she went out to do some quick weeding and lawn touch-up around her beautiful estate. Even though it was the very first day of winter, she went outside the front door wearing just her pajamas and a robe to begin zealously removing some obvious unwanted plant life in some of her garden beds. Laura took off her wedding band and engagement ring and placed them in her left upper pajama shirt pocket for safekeeping. She figured that since she would be pulling weeds out of the ground, she didn’t want her rings to get dirty and possibly slip off and disappear somewhere in the flower beds. Unfortunately, the young lady didn’t think that her most precious jewelry would fall out of her pajama pocket when she leaned over at some point during her outdoor mission that particular day.

The reason that it was so difficult for Martin to find either one of the rings at first was because Laura had been all over their gorgeous Virginia property. She first started in the circular driveway and did some weeding in the center garden bed. Laura also took a walk down the driveway over to the mailbox and at some point she threw some unwanted weeds out into the leaves located just off of the concrete drive. Then, the busy woman made her way to the left side of the house and continued to weed in some of the garden beds along the side and backyard sections of the estate. There was plenty of leaning forward and bending over to “pretty up” the yard, so unless one was willing to check all of the spots where Laura tended to, it would be very difficult to be completely certain as to where the wedding band and engagement ring fell to the ground.

As it turned out, Martin was so blessed to be able to eyeball the engagement ring just outside of the perimeter of one of the garden beds located on the side of the house. Even though Martin metal detected all around that same section of the side yard, there was no evidence that Laura’s beloved wedding band came out of her pocket in any of that same territory. It was completely up in the air as to where the second ring finally made its way out of her clothes and dropped into the grass or into one of the flowerbeds.

Laura was extremely upset about the whole incident and she so appreciated Martin trying to find her missing rings. When his second effort failed in recovering the wedding band, that’s when the diligent husband made arrangements with me to come out the following day and assist in the project.

Sometime later in the afternoon the following day, I drove out to Martin and Laura’s beautiful Fairfax Station, Virginia estate. It was such a lovely drive as I made my way back into the woods and then followed their long driveway (which was surrounded by crape myrtle trees) until it opened up onto their lovely estate grounds.

Upon arriving, I told Laura that I found her husband Martin to be one of the nicest guys I had ever talked to. Though we only spoke on the phone a couple of times, I read this particular fellow like a book. He was genuinely filled with unlimited respect and thoughtfulness. Truly, I was honored to serve the two of them that late afternoon into the evening hours to come.

Both Laura and Martin showed me around the property and oriented me to each and every place where Laura had walked around that particular morning when she was doing her outdoor work. Once I finished asking all of my questions as we toured the breathtaking estate grounds, I went back to my car to retrieve my metal detecting equipment and then decided to start my search over by the circular driveway.

By the time all of my gear was powered on, darkness began to fall quite quickly. Just before pairing the detector with my headphones, I turned on my high lumens headlamp and began scanning all of that section to see if the ring may had fallen out of the pajama pocket prior to the other ring coming out of the shirt over by the side yard where Martin found the first one. After approximately 30 minutes of swinging my coil, I was able to confirm that the platinum wedding band (which held numerous diamonds around its channel) was not in that location.

Next, I went down the long driveway towards the main street and metal detected all along the sides of the concrete path leading to the mailbox. Once again, Laura’s beautiful band was nowhere to be found in that region, as well.

Continuing on, I took my next leg of the search to the portion of lawn located on the left side of the house where Martin had found the first ring. When nothing turned up inside and around the outside perimeter of the flowerbeds, I moved towards the backyard and detected all of those beds as well. I did some searching down their backyard hill that led into the woods where just leaves covered the ground, but I purposely avoided scanning too much of that area due to the amount of time it would take to clear that portion of the estate. I chose to focus mainly on the flowerbeds and just outside of the gardens since those were the primary areas where Laura leaned forward to do her weed removal.

My plan was this: if I didn’t find the wedding band in any of the regions where Laura had been working, I would then start to do my grid search lines on the lawn starting back at the side yard and then work my way to the rear of the house. Because of the fact that all of the garden beds appeared to be free of possessing the lost diamond keepsake, I had no reason to doubt that the jewel was hiding on the grassy lawn somewhere on their estate. At that stage in the search I concluded that the band must had come out of the pajama pocket some time while Laura might have leaned forward on the grass itself to perhaps pick up a stray weed or two.

As I focused on metal detecting the side lawn area, I chose to do air grid lines (which means I did not use cones or tapes to help keep me swinging my detector coil in straight lines) since I felt pretty confident that I was able to move across the lawn in straight lines without missing a square inch of property.

Throughout the search. I would pick up all kinds of target signals that had the potential of being the lost ring. There were miscellaneous pieces of aluminum and I pulled quite a few of those garden plant labels which indicated what was growing underneath that particular part of the flower bed. However, as much as I had scanned the sections that I had previously detected, all of my potential signals came up negative for the ring.

I must have been on the third or fourth grid line where I had been detecting over the grass along the side yard, when I hit a pretty good signal approximately 8 feet or so from the flower bed where Martin had found the engagement ring just outside of its perimeter. My detector was calibrated to pick up a range of target numbers that were common when searching for rings just like the one that Laura owned. As a professional metal detectorist, I am very familiar with pretty much every kind of wedding band and engagement ring and how it comes up on my detector screen. This particular number that I was getting on my Minelab Equinox 800 machine was very symptomatic of picking up a lady’s petite white gold or platinum wedding band or engagement ring. I had been told by the couple that Laura’s ring size was a tiny petite Size 4 and so this particular signal lined up well with the potential of this being Laura’s ring.

I quickly knelt down on the grass to check the target out, aimed my headlamp towards the ground (remember, I had been working in complete darkness for some time other than utilizing my headlamp above me) and pulled out my handheld pinpointer to begin isolating the exact spot where my metal detector had given me that awesome target signal. It was at that very moment that I could see between the blades of grass the most beautiful diamond wedding band that Laura and Martin had been so longing to be reunited with! I found it! The target signal that I was getting on my machine was in fact that of Laura’s sentimental piece of platinum! The diamonds that so gracefully surrounded the band’s set channel began to sparkle brilliantly as my headlamp light reflected off of the many facets belonging to the priceless stones! I indeed recovered the ring! I found the lost wedding band and most importantly I was so overjoyed for Laura’s sake! It turned out that the ring had come out of the pajama pocket just feet away from where the engagement ring had made its way to the ground. I had previously thought that that was the reason why I could not find the jewel in any of the flower and garden beds. Laura must have leaned forward to pick up a weed on the main lawn approximately 8 feet from the flower bed where she also lost the engagement ring that Martin had eyeballed earlier on. Which ring made its way out of Laura’s pocket first? The answer is: we will never know. I was just so happy to be visualizing Laura slipping her precious keepsake back on her finger in the moments that followed!

Just as I was starting to stand up after recovering the ring from the grass, I noticed that Laura was standing over by her front porch observing my search from afar. I had already been detecting for over an hour and a half and so I was pretty certain that my client was getting worried that perhaps I too might have to walk away that evening without finding her precious jewel. I wasn’t sure if she thought that I had found the ring or not at the moment when I knelt down to the ground, but I was hoping that I could at least try to fake her out and surprise her with the beautiful diamond ring shortly after calling her over to that grassy section of the lawn.

Once I was able to lure Laura over to where I was previously metal detecting, I am proud to share that I successfully surprised my client with the wonderful news that I had found Laura’s missing wedding band! I will never forget her stunned face when I brought out that beautiful piece of platinum filled with diamonds as I placed it in front of her eyes! It was as if she had just received that ring for the very first time (that very special moment in Washington DC when Martin proposed to his future bride!). It really was a fantastic experience and just like all of my other reveals, this one certainly took the cake, as well! I was beyond happy for Laura and she could not have been more excited and more grateful for my successful efforts in recovering this loss jewel from her property!

Once I showed Laura the very spot where I pulled the ring from the ground, she called Martin (who was in the house) to let him know that she was wearing her priceless wedding band once again! Within seconds, Laura’s elated husband was out on his side lawn joining the two of us with the most excited look on his face! I concluded that the metal detector that Martin was using would not have been able to pick up the platinum band (as many metal detectors would be unsuccessful in doing so based on the limited technology that the machines are built with). Martin definitely made the right decision to call in a professional like myself who is familiar with finding rings very similar to Laura’s and to do so without missing a single target signal!

The three of us celebrated out there in the dark on the side lawn with unlimited excitement about the discovery I had made just minutes before the couple were handed the very happy news that I had recovered the missing ring! It was just five days before Christmas and I’m sure Laura felt like she was already getting her first gift from dear old Santa Claus!

When I left Martin and Laura’s beautiful estate, I was so pleased at the results that I had delivered to this wonderful couple! Using my expertise and personal passion to recover such meaningful pieces of jewelry for such lovely people as this couple was, just completely made my day!

As I have shared many times before in prior publications, I love what I do for all of my clients with helping the masses recover their lost property, and I certainly love the people that I do these search and recovery operations for as well!

Metal Detecting Lost Gold Wedding Band in Burtonsville, Maryland…Found

  • from Washington (District of Columbia, United States)

Kristina’s Austrian 14 Karat White Gold Wedding Band Found After Three Weeks by Metal Detectorist Brian Rudolph in Burtonsville, Maryland

Kristina Showing Off Her Wedding Band After Member of THE RING FINDERS, Brian Rudolph, Recovers the Lost Sentimental Keepsake!

Brian Rudolph, Lost Item Recovery Specialist (Land, Water, Sand, Snow, Leaves, Houses & Vehicles) Will Find Your Lost Keepsake! Call ASAP (301) 466-8644!

I received a call from a young lady named Kristina who lost her wedding band three weeks earlier. She told me that she was tending to her mums that were in planters out on her rear deck of her Burtonsville, Maryland home. There was snow and ice everywhere and she didn’t want the plants to be harmed by the outside conditions. Once Kristina finished her task of removing all of the frost from her winter white friends, she started to make her way back inside her place. Just as she opened the rear French door to escape the cold, the amateur botanist brushed off some excess snow that had gathered up on her right sleeve and then all of sudden Kristina felt her Austrian made 14 karat white gold wedding ring fly off of her left hand’s ring finger! The bewildered woman also heard a “ping” that quickly sounded following the release of the sentimental piece from her finger. As she recounted the story with me, Kristina went on to share that the ring was jettisoned towards the back of her house in the direction of the lawn that was a full level below her.

Kristina and her wife Kori believed that the ring had ricocheted off of the deck’s floor or from the top of the deck railing and fell on either the white pebbles and stones or somewhere on the grass below. Immediately the hunt took place but neither one of the ladies were able to find Kristina’s band. Over the course of the next 3 weeks, the two of them invested several hours of devoted searching, using two detectors: one that belonged them and one that belonged to their neighbor. Still, the couple was unsuccessful in recovering the jewel that seemed to disappear into thin air. They were so perplexed by the situation that they wondered if perhaps an animal came along and snatched it from their yard or that maybe somebody was walking their dog out back and just happened to eyeball it, failed to report it to the couple and simply walked off with the ring. During those several weeks, it caused Kristina to really scratch her head as the “mystery of the disappearing ring” could not be solved.

At some point during the conclusion of  the three week mark, Kristina went online and surfed the net for some additional help. She happened to come across a listing for THE RING FINDERS, an international directory of metal detectorists who are specialists in recovering lost items such as rings and other jewelry. That’s where I, Brian Rudolph, come into the story. The couple saw on the directory that I provided metal detecting services in Burtonsville, Maryland. I received the call from Kristina while I was at another search site and the very next day I was driving to my new client’s home.

As soon as I arrived, Kristina took me out back to see the “scene of the crime” so-to-speak. I met Kori and the two of them gave me all of the information that I needed to start the search. Because the couple owned matching rings, I metal detected Kori’s band to analyze the VDI (Visual Display Indicator) number that showed me how the machine would read Kristina’s white gold the moment that I would swing my detector over it. This was extremely helpful information to have during my search. I then returned to my vehicle, grabbed my necessary metal detecting equipment and returned to the back yard where I started the search on the second level deck.

Within minutes of scanning the rear deck (checking out each gap between the floor boards as well as all of the furniture to make sure the band didn’t end up around or between the cushions) I concluded that the precious metal did not remain on that level when it flew off of Kristina’s hand. It had to have landed below.

The next areas that I searched were the steps that led down to the ground level and a section of white rocks and stones that just cleared the deck area above. All of it appeared to be free of concealing my client’s keepsake. I didn’t need to detect underneath the deck because there was no way that the band could fit between any of the board, therefore, I could also rule out that particular spot on the property, as well. The ring had to have cleared the deck and landed somewhere along the parameter of the property that stretched farther away from the house. How far away? That question would soon be answered.

Knowing what Kristina heard immediately following the moment when she felt the loose “halo” slide off of her finger, and deducting the square footage that I had already searched, I took my investigation over to the grassy lawn just on the rear side of the property adjacent to the wooden stairway that led to the ground level. There were flagstone steps that led around the lawn over to the side of the house in the direction of where I had first entered from. That was the area that I would focus on and spread my search out from there if I still came up with nothing.

As I moved along the stretch of grass, scanning for metal with my detector in hand, I finally hit a great signal. Up to that point in time, I had little to get excited about. Yes, there were the occasional counterfeit hits on my detector screen that appeared to show similarities to Kristina’s ring, including pieces of metal that were settled on the surface and not buried below. However, they were all false alarms. Yet, this particular target that I was so intrigued about really resembled the VDI number that Kori’s band displayed on my detector screen during my earlier test. I eagerly knelt down on the ground to check out what my machine was registering on the screen, pulled out my handheld detector to help me zero-in on exactly where that piece of metal was hiding, and that’s when my face lit up with excitement! Just as I fingered my way through the blades of grass, there before my eyes, hidden below all of the brown and green plant life, I spotted the identical twin ring that I had been searching for all that time! It was located just a few feet from where the deck’s vertical support beams connected to the stairway that led to the second level above! In total, the ring traveled approximately 30 feet from where it initially flew off of Kristina’s finger as she was entering the house!

I was so happy to return the ring to its proper owner and witness the smiles that I had received following my surprise reveal! The couple couldn’t believe where I had found the gold piece because they had used their two metal detectors all around that section of the property and yet for three weeks they came away with nothing! I wrapped up the search in roughly 30 minutes or less! It just goes to show that having a metal detector or two doesn’t make you a successful detectorist! It takes many hours of learning, testing and experiencing the machine that you are working with in order to become proficient with it. I was so delighted that my ability to find rings for people everywhere in the Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC, Delaware, Pennsylvania and West Virginia areas had also helped Kristina bring this “mystery of the ring fling” case to a complete close and thankfully with much success indeed!

How to Find a Lost Gold Diamond Ring in Toyota Camry…Found in Winchester, Virginia

  • from Washington (District of Columbia, United States)

Adam’s Sentimental Family Heirloom Ring Recovered by Ring Finder Brian Rudolph from the Wreckage of the Owner’s Toyota Camry!

Adam Still in Shock That His Beloved Gold Diamond Family Heirloom Ring Was Found by In-Vehicle Item Recovery Specialist Brian Rudolph!

Brian Rudolph, Lost Item Recovery Specialist (Land, Water, Sand, Snow, Leaves, Houses & Vehicles) Will Find Your Lost Keepsake! Call ASAP (301) 466-8644!

A man named Adam called me and requested my help in recovering a lost 14 karat yellow gold 1.75 carat diamond family heirloom ring that his father had willed to him following his dad’s passing a year earlier. Six months after his father’s death, Adam and his friend were driving in his Toyota Camry after a night out on the Winchester, Virginia town. Adam was very upset because of some family dealings with someone who greatly mistreated him regarding a very private matter. It was so severe and hurtful that Adam allowed his friend to drive while he poured out his heart on the way back to his place.

At some point during that commute towards home, as Adam sat in the front passenger seat, he took two rings off of his finger. Both were family heirloom rings that he inherited from his father and in anger he threw them towards the dashboard. Thankfully, he was able to recover one of the rings when his friend pulled the 2017 Camry over to the side of the road. However, the more cherished 14 karat gold diamond ring was nowhere to be found. Adam and his friend searched everywhere for the missing jewel, but neither man was able to pull it from the vehicle. It made no sense to the friends for a chunky men’s ring to simply disappear like that into seemingly this air!

For the next six months, Adam kept looking for the lost heirloom as it was so meaningful to him knowing that it was one of the only remaining possessions from his late father. It meant the world to him and he could not figure out how this piece of gold could have been lost that easily in a confined environment like a car. There were only three possibilities to explain what had happened to the jewel. One, his friend had taken it (which Adam didn’t believe he did based on what Adam did to make certain that his friend at the time had nothing to do with the disappearance of the ring – I can’t elaborate), Two, when the guys were getting out of the vehicle on the side of the road to search for the two rings, one of the two pieces of gold fell out of the car from the lap of either Adam or his friend and then fell onto the concrete of the road, never to be discovered by either man on that dreadful night. Three, somehow the ring never left the vehicle and it somehow found a hiding place somewhere in a space that neither fellow had the ability to spot when attempting to recover the precious metal and stone from the Camry. Finally, four, the ring was later found in the vehicle by someone other than Adam and his friend – possibly a mechanic or detailer who stumbled across the sentimental keepsake while working on the car.

Adam didn’t give up the hunt for his dad’s special ring. He kept searching the car day after day, week after week and then month after month! The poor guy looked under the seats, under the dashboard, under and around the outer foot carpets, in and between the seats and the center console. Unfortunately, with all of Adam’s efforts to locate the ring, still nothing ever turned up and he was emotionally devastated over the whole ordeal.

Sadly, the loss of Adam’s family heirloom became the least of his problems. Six months after the ring went missing (two weeks before my client contacted me), Adam was involved in a very serious car accident involving another automobile that T-boned his vehicle causing irreparable damage to the Camry. Adam’s car was deemed a total loss. Once the Toyota was removed from the scene of the accident, it was taken to a Winchester, Virginia body shop where the insurance companies began to assess the damage and preceded to roll up their sleeves for the legal battle to come.

The poor owner of the destroyed vehicle had only two weeks to wrap up his six month investigation to find his missing ring. If his efforts would lead to no avail and the treasure was somehow still in the mangled piece of metal, the family jewel along with the trashed automobile would be sent to the boneyard and then eventually placed in the crusher once and for all!

It was at the end of that two week grace period that Adam looked online for help and found THE RING FINDERS, the elite international directory of metal detecting specialists who are experts in finding lost rings! When Adam searched the directory for the closest specialist to him, my contact information popped up. He immediately called me and we had a long conversation discussing not only his horrific story but also the many details regarding the ring itself. I was quite intrigued with Adam’s account and it got me excited to assist this poor fellow with my expertise in helping my client search for the lost ring inside the Camry.

A few days after we initially spoke on the phone, Adam and I planned out a day for me to travel the hour and a half trip to Winchester, Virginia where I would be given the opportunity to search Adam’s wrecked Camry. It was going to be a cold one outside but I was definitely up for the challenge to be out in the elements while searching for my client’s beloved ring. I had recently recovered another ring in a vehicle for a young lady in Alexandria, Virginia just about two months earlier. I couldn’t wait to try to add another story to my resume of successful in-vehicle searches and recoveries!

The entire drive to Winchester was absolutely breathtaking. The countryside was beautiful and I enjoyed talking with the locals as I stopped at a couple of country stores along the way to grab a snack or something to drink. I always love these fun adventures and most importantly I have such passion to try and help people like Adam recover such priceless sentimental treasures!

When I arrived at the Winchester auto body shop lot, Adam got out of his truck and we greeted one another. He then took me over to the destroyed 2017 Toyota Camry and began to show me what he had already searched inside that mass of mangled metal and plastic. The car was a real mess indeed. I must say that when he first showed me the automobile, I was shocked by what my eyes beheld. The dashboard was completely missing except for the basic metal frame that once held all of the compartments and pieces to the metal reinforcements. What remained in the vehicle looked like a mutilated slice of Swiss cheese! There were huge sections where a crowbar must had been used to pry open pieces of the dashboard frame along with many holes that were drilled all over the front of the cabin to allow for access. There was so much mutilation that in certain places you could see right through the firewall into the engine compartment because the gentleman had destroyed and or removed most of what once was the automobile’s dashboard! It was insane what I was looking at!

Next, my client took me around to the back of the car and there on the ground was the rest of the dashboard along with another key component that he had tucked away in his trunk so that the rain would not destroy what was left of the electronics. I had never seen anything like this before which said a lot because I myself used to manage several body shops way back in my younger years. I had seen a lot of crazy wrecks in my days, but nothing like what this guy did to the vehicle from the inside of the car! My client’s desperate mission was to dissect every square inch of the dashboard, hoping that he would find the ring somewhere in the vent system or some other spot where the piece of gold may had gotten trapped within a crevice or corner inside the dash.

This fellow had done so much cutting, drilling and demolition to the instrument panels and the rest of the dashboard frame that I honestly wasn’t sure what was left for me to search. There were so many holes and open areas that were now exposed to the human eye that I couldn’t even see where a ring could still be trapped or hiding in any of those places! It was truly unbelievable what I was seeing! This started to worry me because my options were already reduced by 70% as to where the ring might still have been hiding. I was kind of disappointed that I had fewer places to search and with everything that was taken out of the car or cut open for inspection, I thought that the odds of me finding the ring were already very slim since Adam had done so much removal work of potential obstacles while he was searching for endless hours, days, weeks and even months for his father’s ring.

Once Adam finished giving me the run down as to where he searched and what he had removed to get access to, I asked my client if he would be fine with me leading us in a prayer to the Lord, asking for divine favor in this search of ours. Adam was completely into the idea and so we prayed for God’s wisdom and provide me with the ability to find the lost ring if it was still in the vehicle. Then, I returned to my car to gather up all of the tools and gear that I needed to conduct this search. Adam had told me on the phone the other day that he actually rented a metal detector and had searched the dashboard for his missing ring. He believed that he came across what appeared to be a 14 karat gold piece of jewelry according to what the detector screen indicated. I sensitively and carefully shared with Adam that when there is a search that involves trying to recover an item inside a vehicle, one cannot use a metal detector to scan for the missing object. The reason for this is because there is so much metal that’s in a car that there is no way to effectively detect for precious metal. You cannot distinguish between one piece of metal and another. Furthermore, I explained to my client that gold is a nonferrous metal and there are endless pieces of nonferrous materials in a car. Therefore, the type of tools and gear that I brought over to the Camry for my inspection would not involve devices and machines that would detect for gold. I would have to use my headlamp and endoscope (which is a video camera snake intended to search narrow areas that the naked eye cannot see).

I began my search in the vehicle by first using the endoscope inside what remained of the dashboard. The whole procedure was fairly simple and quite brief in time because (as I indicated early) Adam had already disassembled and destroyed most of what was originally bolted to the firewall and frame of the Camry! Still, I made certain that the yellow gold and diamond heirloom was not trapped or wedged into any remaining piece of metal or plastic in all of those regions.

Next, I looked at all of the remaining components and dashboard compartments that Adam had removed and placed towards the back of the vehicle. I wanted to make sure that the ring did not end up somewhere in any of the large pieces of vehicle that he had removed prior to this search. Still, all of that checked out clean of any jewelry. It was then time to begin searching under the front seats, starting with the passenger side and then working my way over to the driver’s bucket type recliner.

As soon as I brought my gear over to the right passenger side of the vehicle, I placed my endoscope underneath the front area of the front passenger seat and studied every corner and crevice that was below.  One must always have patience when it comes to searching and studying all of the possible places where a one inch or less piece of precious metal could possibly end up. After exhausting each and every angle and spot where my camera could be inserted for inspection under that seat, I was confident once again that Adam’s ring was not under the front passenger side seat. I checked the rails and it was not wedged along the sides, as well. When everything checked out under the front passenger seat, I decided to double check my work by heading to the back of the same front passenger seat and take a look again but this time from the rear side. With more disappointment, I still could not locate the ring.

The piece of jewelry that I was looking for was not dainty and thin like a woman’s diamond engagement ring. This was a chunky regular sized men’s ring that was definitely manufactured back in the 1960s or mid 1970s, so it would not be something that could easily hide. That’s why I was really getting concerned that my trip to Winchester might only end up serving one purpose and that would be to simply bring closure for my client.

At that point in the search, I had only two sections of the vehicle left to examine. First, I would check under the rear portion of the driver’s seat. Then secondly, to check out the front area under the driver’s seat. After that, there would be nothing left to search and my time in Winchester would come to its conclusion. I have been in situations like this before where I had pretty much exhausted all of the possibilities as to where the missing item might had ended up. It would all come down to the final minute to see if the precious jewel would be recovered or not. This search operation certainly looked like it was heading that direction!

The area around the driver’s seat was the very last place that I could investigate. Honestly speaking, I wasn’t thinking that there was much chance for me to pull the ring from the wreckage at that point in the game. Yet, I always try to give it my all right up to the end, even when the chips are down and it doesn’t look very bright on the other side of the search.

Once I made my way over to the rear section of the driver’s side seat, I began to take my endoscope and wielded it underneath the leather part, checking all of the hidden spaces where one would not be able to see with their own eyes. If a piece of jewelry was caught up in the rails or within the seat’s electronics that were bolted below, I would be able to identify it with the scope. I looked in the floor seat vent as well as underneath where the “wall to wall” floor and console carpets met up with one another and still there was nothing found (other than some broken glass, tons of miscellaneous nuts and bolts and pieces of scrap metal from the accident). There were also some personal possessions that ended up wedged between the carpet and the flooring underneath the driver side seat but there was absolutely no sign of Adam’s beloved treasure.

I spent a great deal of time in this environment because I knew that this was the last leg of my search and I did not want to make any mistakes or to leave any question as to whether or not I gave it my all in trying to recover this item. When I could not identify anything that resembled the gold ring, it was time to search the final location which was underneath the driver’s seat once more, but this time it needed to be examined from the front side. Why did I choose working in the rear section of the driver’s seat first? It was just simply my personal preference and nothing more as to why I chose that area over studying the front side of that same seat.

Again, I placed my endoscope underneath the seat from the front side and viewed my monitor screen as I scanned every square inch of that undetected area. Still, everything checked out negative of any signs of jewelry. I continued to spot little personal possessions and random coins that had made their way under the seat due to the great impact that took place when Adam was T-boned by the other car. Other little objects probably had ended up down there over time as things would naturally fall out of pockets while driving.

After completing that particular section of the car seat, there was nothing left for me to search. I ran out of any more options at that point…or did I? Just as I was about to wrap things up and begin to put my things away, I looked down at the driver side carpet where it met the door kick panel. I noticed that Adam’s Camry had its fuel door and trunk release levers fastened to the floor just to the left front area of the driver side seat. It was then that I came up with one more procedure to try out before officially calling it quits.

As I had mentioned earlier, two months prior to this vehicle search, I had found a lady’s platinum wedding band that had gone missing for over a year. I ended up looking in this same particular spot at the final minute of that Alexandria, Virginia search. The lady’s Subaru Outback’s fuel door release lever was located in the exact place as Adam’s Toyota Camry’s release levers. The odds that I would find this ring in the same location that I had found the other band was almost 100% improbable of repeating. However, I had nothing to lose at that point and until I fully exhausted every possible location to search, my investigation was not closed!

In thinking about all of the factors that played into the two very different in-vehicle searches, I found myself starting to doubt that even with that tiny possibility that I would find my client’s ring in the same location, it was too improbable to believe that there could be a “repeat performance” of the last in-vehicle success. Here’s why I thought this:

One, the two vehicles were quite different in their makes and models.

Two, the release mechanisms were somewhat similar in design but were quite different in other ways (I will highlight this fact later on).

Three, these were “back to back” in-vehicle searches. What was the likelihood that I would find Adam’s ring in the same location that I found the other lady’s ring in consecutive in-vehicle searches (one right after the other)?

Four, the lady’s ring that I had found two months earlier was completely different in design, shape, size and weight! Adam’s heirloom was chunkier, not petite nor slim like the simple platinum band that I had miraculously discovered in the Subaru Outback. Therefore, the pieces of metal would most likely react differently in terms of where and what they could possibly slide into or behind something in order to cause the object to disappear out of sight. Also, with the two rings being so completely different in every regard, the likelihood that both rings could wedge themselves under the same auto part and travel somewhat in the same general direction to ultimately be effectively hidden from their owners, has to be less than a 1% chance of this happening!

Five, the two rings that had been lost in the two owner’s vehicles had two completely different circumstances that led to the disappearance of both of those keepsakes! The lady was simply driving down the street and twirling her wedding band above the steering wheel as she commuted towards home. It dropped and disappeared. Adam threw his ring from the right front passenger seat and then six months later the vehicle is involved in a near death collision! These were two completely different scenarios!

As you just read, I think I made my point that it was nearly impossible that the first recovery location could be mirrored once again in this current search.

As I began to prepare my equipment to search the inner chamber of the fuel door / trunk release lever housing, I thought to myself, ‘I’m going to check this area out, but there’s no way that this ring could end up in the same location that I found that other one. Yet, I have nothing to lose’. I proceeded to take my endoscope snake and lifted up the fuel door release lever that was on the driver side floor in front of the seat (which is common in many vehicle models), and began to push the scope slowly and carefully into the plastic housing that covered the mechanism that controls the release of the trunk and the fuel door. As I viewed what was on my monitor screen, I began seeing more coins and a very interesting field of dust and debris scattered about in that little tiny section that was wedged between the carpet and the metal floor of the vehicle. I was extremely surprised at finding items in that very isolated space which normally I couldn’t even imagine how some of the objects could have ended up in that particular chamber. I observed on my monitor: a Bic cigarette lighter, a couple of quarters and pennies and a few other personal items that belonged to the driver that somehow ended up in that area.

When I reported to Adam that I had found a Bic cigarette lighter in that isolated region, he was perplexed by what I had found because he said that he didn’t even use Bic lighters. My client did indicate that the Camry was a pre-owned vehicle and perhaps the lighter had been jammed down in that narrow space prior to him possessing the car. What really intrigued me about the lighter was that this object somehow made its way into this very small cavity along with some of the other items I identified with the scope. I just couldn’t figure out how the objects traveled into and down that narrow space under the carpet. Of course, it would have to take some kind of dramatic impact such as a collision to allow for such miscellaneous debris to travel into that corridor of space around the mechanism that controlled the trunk and fuel door releases. However, it is important to remind the reader that because the ring had disappeared 6 months prior to the car accident, we have to conclude that some (if not all) of those miscellaneous items that I was observing had somehow already found their way into that narrow passageway before the collision had ever occurred.

As I observed more items that were buried below the carpet that appeared on my screen, the more I actually began getting encouraged that perhaps there was a slight chance that maybe Adam’s piece of gold was also mixed up in all of that “under-carpet” clutter, as well! If all of those objects had somehow made their way down into that chamber, who was to say that the ring couldn’t have found its resting place back there as well? I thought to myself that if a cigarette lighter, large coins and even an unopened chewing gum package could all make their way to that very isolated environment, why couldn’t a men’s chunky gold diamond ring be possibly hiding in that same region?!

With much determination to cover every millimeter in that confined space between the carpet and the metal frame of the floor, I maneuvered my endoscope back-and-forth and searched around that congested debris field. More miscellaneous objects began to show up as I twisted the cable around to observe as much as I could. Then, something amazing took place. Just as I pushed the long snake camera lens further into the dark pathway below some type of floor metal reinforcement bracket, my camera picked up something that became of great interest to me. I didn’t want to get overly excited but while I was scanning one particular angle inside that chamber that I had been working with, I saw what appeared to be a circular shaped object that resembled a yellow gold ring. At first I could only catch a portion of that particular target. However, as I was able to maneuver the snake in a particular way with a new technique that I hadn’t tried before, I was able to catch a couple of more new angles of that particular object.

The closer I got to this very curious item with the endoscope, the more my heart raced faster and faster! Just as the lens was able to bring the target of interest into clear focus, it was at that very moment that I was able to finally identify what appeared to be some type of jewelry. It turned out to be much better than just any piece of jewelry indeed! Instead, to my greatest surprise and shock, the endoscope lens and monitor allowed me to view for the first time…Adam’s late father’s yellow gold diamond ring! I could not believe what I was looking at and where this amazing family heirloom had been hiding all along!

I must share with my reader just how blown away I was upon seeing what turned up on the screen! As my eyes were laser focused on the monitor that clearly identified the amazing gold diamond ring, I felt an uncontrollable charge of emotion just shoot through my entire being! I did it! I actually did it! I had found Adam’s lost diamond ring! Because it was so over-the-top crazy as to where I had located the missing-in-action sentimental keepsake (as well as discovering the ring at the last possible notch on the clock of time), the whole experience seemed too surreal to be a true reality! This recovery was absolutely incredible! I wholeheartedly believed at that very moment that our earlier prayer of petitioning the Lord for divine help had truly come to fruition and that my Heavenly Father had most definitely favored me and blessed Adam with this fantastic find!

I was not about to wait to surprise Adam by trying to extract the ring before revealing the incredible news with him! No way! First, I laid down my endoscope (which was still inside the housing piece that I had been working through to gain access to what I eventually found). Then, I quickly rose to my feet and went straight towards Adam to blow his mind with the news of what I had just viewed on my video device!

“Adam, you are not going to believe this, but I just found your missing ring! I did it, Adam, I found your ring! I’m not kidding!” He looked at me as if he was in some kind of trance upon hearing the unbelievable news! He was trying to process the whole surreal statement that I had just shared with him! Because it was all too crazy that I would find the jewel in the place that I discovered it and that the timing of when I had found it seemed impossible as well (being the final spot to check) Adam was somewhat thinking that the incredible update that I had so excitedly given him was just a big farce! He too could not believe what was happening! It was quite hard to grasp the truth that where I claimed that I saw his ring was actually an accurate account of what was taking place. I immediately brought my bewildered client over to view what I had discovered and within a minute or two of regaining the spot that I had positioned the camera initially, both of our set of eyes were seeing the evidence of my fantastic claim that I had found the ring!

At that moment, Adam just lost it! He walked around like as if he was in a trance! We hugged and high-fived one another repeatedly and truly took in the moment of elation because of how outrageous this discovery was! I had found the ring approximately one foot away from the entrance to the fuel door and trunk lever housing entrance. After putting the endoscope in, I had to push it approximately 12 inches towards the driver seat underneath the carpeting along the metal flooring. Somehow, the piece of gold with its huge diamond inserted within it, traveled down into that housing and made its way through that narrow cavity until it came to rest amongst the cluttered debris field of miscellaneous items that had congregated under the seat.

Perhaps the impact that took place in the accident caused the diamond ring to travel farther back towards the driver seat underneath the carpet until it finally could not travel anymore because of all the other objects that got wedged together in that space. It was absolutely incredible! And even more crazy that I found this ring in the same general location as the one I found just a month and a half earlier, but in a Subaru Outback in Alexandria, Virginia! The odds of this happening were completely impossible! Yet, with my experience with ring finding, the stories get more bizarre the longer you do these types of searches!

After Adam and I had finally settled down a bit from our surreal pre-victory celebration, my next step was to use a special hook at the end of the endoscope in order for me to capture the target and set the ring free from that narrow cavity underneath the carpeting. This was not a procedure that allowed me in any way to simply put my hand or fingers into that long thin space. There was no way to access this particular chamber except to use this particular tool at the end of the video camera snake in order for me to carefully grab a hold of the gold and slowly bring it out from the far back section underneath the carpet.

After a few minutes of working the snake and the newly screwed-in hook tool at the end of it, I am proud to say that I was finally able to successfully extract the amazing gold diamond ring from within the vehicle’s strange hidden chamber! As the piece of jewelry made its way into the natural light from within the dark tunnel underneath the plastic housing, I just marveled at the beauty of that extremely handsome ring! Wow, it was really something special to look at! The diamond was beyond impressive in size, color and clarity! What was more special to me was the fact that I was holding what once was worn and owned by a man who truly loved Adam, his son, so very much!

At that moment, I found myself to be in more of a state of shock (as I held the precious gold) than the initial second when I identified the target with the endoscope! Here I was, holding the very ring that I thought had the most minimal chance of being recovered based on all of the facts mentioned above! I was so proud to be the very one to hand the ring to its rightful owner – the son who had inherited this sentimental treasure from his beloved daddy after he had regretfully passed away the year earlier!

Adam still could not believe what was happening! As I handed him the ring he just broke down with uncontrollable emotion and thanked me profusely for what I had just done for him! Right there at that very spot in the body shop parking lot (where all of those destroyed automobiles surrounded Adam’s mangled up vehicle) we rejoiced before the Lord and together we thanked God for answering the prayer that we had lifted up to Him earlier on! It was as if that place where we gave glory to the Lord together became almost like holy ground to us! The tragic events that had taken place prior to me arriving were finally being put to rest. That chapter was done and gone forever! The weight of sadness and even the suspicions that had haunted Adam for so very long no longer had power over his mind and heart and the man could now be free to move his life forward again! Furthermore, Adam’s destroyed Camry could finally be given up to the boneyard and eventually be taken to the crusher – and thankfully without Adam’s beloved heirloom that was once lost within its members! It was saved just in the nick of time!

Adam burst out with words of pure thankfulness and gratitude, “Brian, I can’t thank you enough! What you just did is unbelievable! You are the man! I told you that I had this feeling that if anybody could do it, you would be the one! You were my last hope and you did it and delivered my ring back to me! I’ll never forget this man!”

I thanked Adam for his kind words and confidence that he had in me and I told him that this truly was not only one of the craziest recovery stories that I had ever experienced, but that I believed God Himself had His hand in all of this! There was only a very tiny possibility that that ring was still in the vehicle (knowing how much of the car had already been razed). After what had been done to the dashboard and all of the other places that were searched by the two of us where we came up empty handed – and then to find it basically in the same spot that I had found the last in-vehicle ring…you just can’t make this kind of story up! You have to believe that there was some type of divine intervention here! The whole story was truly incredible!

Once we finished some more hugging and high-fiving, Adam took a victory walk into the body shop office to show the staff what I had just pulled from the vehicle! They too were in unbelief and completely shocked at what they were looking at on Adam’s finger! Many of them were witnesses, watching Adam cut holes and demolish what was left of his poor vehicle as he desperately searched to find his family treasure! The body shop staff also knew that the Camry would be removed from the lot in the next day or two, so for me to have actually recovered the jewel from the wreckage just prior to “dooms day” for that Toyota was pretty amazing to them! They couldn’t believe the outcome just as much as the two of us could not fully process the reality of what had just taken place! Knowing that the keepsake had actually been hiding in the vehicle all along, just the likelihood that the family heirloom would be discovered in that short window of time was still incomprehensible! The staff admitted to me that none of them had any confidence in believing that Adam would ever see that ring again and most of them doubted that the ring was even in the car at all! I again gave credit to my God for blessing the search and showing favor on Adam’s life!

When I eventually left the search site following our final goodbyes to one another, in some way we both felt bonded forever in a certain sense because of what we both experienced together. It was just one of those stories that was so amazing, so emotional, so exciting for the two of us that unless you were there in person and went through those special moments with us, it would be very hard to understand what we took away from that body shop parking lot that winter afternoon! Living that very moment when I knew for certain that I had identified the ring and then our reactions that followed (knowing that I had indeed discovered the lost family jewel), no one can ever take away that special memory and the endless feelings of elation that rushed through the two of us! Little could ever top that special time together!

Since that cold wintry day in Winchester, Virginia when I was able to recover and return that very sentimental gold diamond ring back to Adam’s finger, the two of us have enjoyed numerous talks on the phone together. Every so often we recount the story of finding Adam’s father’s ring in that wrecked Camry and we still agree without doubt…God truly favored us that day and has continuously reminded us thereafter of His unconditional love through what He did for Adam and for myself that one afternoon! I will never forget it…ever!

  • from Washington (District of Columbia, United States)

Claire’s Most Beautiful 1.33 Carat Diamond Stud Earring Recovered by Member of THE RING FINDERS, Brian Rudolph on Brookeville, Maryland Horse Farm

Claire and Her Friend Celebrate the Successful Return of the Lost 14 Karat White Gold 1.33 Carat Diamond Stud Earring that Metal Detectorist Brian Rudolph Recovered

Brian Rudolph, Lost Item Recovery Specialist (Land, Water, Sand, Snow, Leaves, Houses & Vehicles) Will Find Your Lost Keepsake! Call ASAP (301) 466-8644!

I received a call from a woman named Claire who lost her 14 karat white gold 1.33 carat diamond stud earring that she received many years earlier from her husband as a 25th wedding anniversary. She was playing with her little granddaughter at a horse farm located in Brookeville, Maryland. During her visit to her friend’s equestrian property, Claire took some time to entertain her granddaughter by rolling down a hill in one of the fenced in pens. There was a lot of grass and it was the perfect spot to have some fun with the little one. Just as she was rolling down one particular area of the hill, Claire and her granddaughter had some kind of collision or had brushed into each in some way. She didn’t think much of it until a little bit later on, just as Claire was about to leave that section of the property, she realized that her earring was no longer on her earlobe. She was quite upset about the loss of such a sentimental gift from her husband that had represented a quarter of a century of bliss between the two of them. She wanted so very badly to get this priceless jewel back on her ear.

Upon recounting Claire’s time playing on that hill she believed that she may had lost her stud earring at the time of impact with her granddaughter. Claire marked that spot and her husband would end up renting a metal detector to attempt a recovery of the white gold diamond stud.

Believe it or not, after a long time of searching in the area that Claire had marked as the most potential spot where the earring may had come off of her, Claire’s husband was able to find the white gold backing that belonged to the earring. Just finding that one piece was a tremendous victory thus far because they could now confirm at least one location as to where the 1.33 carat diamond could have ended up. Claire’s spouse was so encouraged by his ability to find the backing that he continued to search for the jewel for at least a couple of more hours. Unfortunately, his continued efforts led to no avail. Eventually, he had to return the metal detector to the rental shop and Claire was extremely disappointed that they could not recover the lost keepsake.

When Claire contacted me, she explained that she diligently searched online for some type of answer to her problem regarding the lost earring. She wasn’t about to give up, and the moment she saw online an article about the elite international directory of metal detectorists called THE RING FINDERS. After reading some testimonials about some of my successful recoveries, she felt some hope of light at the end of that dark disappointing tunnel. The exciting part was that through the directory she was able to find me, Brian Rudolph, a metal detecting specialist who serves the Brookeville, Maryland area. Though Claire and her husband lived in Washington DC, she asked if I could meet her out on the horse farm to help the couple with the recovery of her 25th anniversary gift. I told her I was more than happy to attempt a search and recovery of the stud earring. I explained to her that I have certain techniques that I use to be quite successful with being able to return such small pieces of metal back to their rightful owners! She was thrilled to hear that I had such experience and couldn’t wait to meet me out on the horse farm the following day.

When I first arrived at the equestrian estate, I met up with the owner of the property and then Claire soon arrived shortly after. I began asking my client all kinds of questions regarding the possibility that perhaps she could have lost the earring somewhere else other than the place where the backing had been found. There are many instances where the backing comes off but the earring stays on the lobe for a much longer duration of time. Then, in that particular situation, it becomes nearly impossible to isolate the area where the stud dropped to the ground. The positive thing about this particular story was that Claire realized that the stud earring was missing from her ear sometime before she left that particular pen. This greatly encouraged me that her chances were much better at recovering the item knowing that I could simply grid search just that section of grass where she was playing with her granddaughter!

As we walked into the fenced in area where the earring disappeared, Claire gave me specific details as to where she was rolling down the hill with her beloved family member. There was a metal stake that was put in the ground exactly where the backing was discovered and so I had a very good reference point as to where the collision took place that may had caused the stud to fall out close by to where the backing was found.

Once I gathered up all of the facts that I needed, I returned to my car to retrieve some grid line cones along with my metal detector and other gear that would be necessary to utilize in my attempt to recover the earring. The first step that I took in this investigation that I was dealing with was to use my metal detector to scan over the basic section of territory where the backing was discovered. The reason that Claire’s husband was able to detect the backing was because there was more gold on that piece of the earring than what was on the stud setting itself. This is very common because the backing has more solid mass than the earring which has just the post and the cage holding the diamond.

During my time of scanning the grass in just the area where it was most likely that the earring fell off of Claire’s ear, I did not get any signals indicating that a small piece of metal was hiding in that region. Earlier on (as I failed to convey in this article) I tested Claire’s other diamond earring that matched the one that was missing just so I knew if it was possible to detect the one that was in the grass. A lot of times there is so little metal on the cage that it becomes impossible to pick up the jewel with even the finest of machines. In this particular case, there was enough white gold for me to effectively find the earring, but it all depended upon the angle in which it was lying, and whether or not it was pushed down into the dirt at the time of the initial first search.

After analyzing a good portion of property around the area where the backing was found I decided to put my detector aside for a while as I planned to get down on my hands and knees and begin searching the very spot where the backing was found with my handheld detector. This small device is called a pinpointer because it zeros-in on small to large targets when placed very close to where the metallic object is located. Once I removed the stake that marked where the backing was found, my hope was that the pinpointer would pick up the stud earring if I moved the device slowly and methodically against the ground until it hopefully would hit the white gold setting of the earring. To my biggest surprise, moments after I began this particular technique, the handheld detector sounded off and vibrated as I moved it over something that was made out of a small piece of metal! Once I identified the exact place where the hidden object rested below the many blades of grass before me, I began clearing the plant life so that I could eyeball what exactly I had picked up on my device. Just then, as I finished clearing some more of the grass out of the way, my eyes beheld the most beautiful diamond stud earring! It was right there lying on top of the dirt below all of the surrounding blades of green! I could not believe that I had just found the stud so very quickly! It was such an exhilarating experience because these little pieces of jewelry are not easily recoverable! It was almost surreal what was happening at that moment! Claire was not present when I discovered her anniversary treasure because she had gone inside the main house with her friend to indulge in a cup of coffee. Therefore, I was the only one out there on that lovely equestrian hill carrying within me the exciting secret that Claire would be getting her cherished little treasure back on her ear soon enough! It truly was a thrilling moment in time for me to recover something so small and yet so priceless! After getting up off of the terrain, I left everything just where it all was when I found the earring and then called Claire out to do the great reveal!

I would not be able to describe in this article just how excited and touched Claire was when I surprised her with her beautiful diamond earring! She too could not believe that I was able to recover this item from the lawn! In addition, she was blown away by how quickly I was able to accomplish this task and her gratitude for my services was way off the charts! My elated client could not stop thanking me and applauding my excellent work out there on that little hill! I too applauded the initial work that she and her husband did to mark the location of where the backing was found! I also commended Claire’s husband on his sleuth-filled efforts in finding the first piece of metal. All together it was a successful team effort and I will never forget how special it was to celebrate the return of this very sentimental piece of jewelry with Claire and her friend who owned the horse farm! The three of us had the best time celebrating and enjoying that surreal moment together! I’m pretty sure that with all of the excitement from my successful recovery that day, Claire was quite happy that she found THE RING FINDERS online and reached out to me to help her with this fantastic search project! Once again, another wonderful item recovery is documented into the annals of ring finding stories!

Ten plus years ago, Dan spent a lot of time picking out rings for his beloved future wife. He purchased the most special 14 karat white gold solitaire diamond engagement ring along with a 14 karat white gold wedding band with diamonds set around the band. He planned to pop the question to his girlfriend Kelly and present the first ring to her at that priceless moment. Before long, the couple was engaged and then the wedding day quickly came and went! Soon after, the children were born and life couldn’t be happier for this lovely family! Like with all love stories, there are some trials, disappointments and adversities that make their way into the timeline of life. On one particular cold day in Dan and Kelly’s Springfield, Virginia neighborhood, Kelly’s irreplaceable wedding ring went missing. She was devastated! Here is the story of what happened and what this couple did to successfully recover Kelly’s lost ring.

Kelly remembered having both her diamond wedding band and her diamond engagement ring on her finger when she left the house with her daughters that day. She vividly recalled taking a brief dog walk down a side street with the kids, said goodbye to Dan who drove off for a few hours while the group was taking their stroll together, returned back towards the house, grabbed the mail from the community mailbox, dropped off the mail inside their townhouse and then proceeded to walk a half block up the street to a neighborhood park to play.

Kelly was absolutely certain that she was wearing both rings when she left the house because her girls were ironically asking about her two special keepsakes. They were curious and wanted to play with them. Their mother explained to them that these pieces of jewelry were very special to her and were not to be played with.

All three ladies enjoyed their time at the park. First, they played on some jungle gym equipment that was located on the lower level of the recreational property. Next, Kelly walked up the hill and explored different places with the girls around the quaint and sweet environment. At some point, Kelly picked up some sticks to remove them from a certain area in the park and threw the dead branches into the woods. I believe the family then played tag and ran around the trees and tried to hide from each other. Then, the three started to entertain themselves with a time of “make believe” over by another area of the park. The girls constructed a makeshift fort over by a particular tree and Kelly helped her daughters gather some sticks and rocks to assist in building their imaginary creation.

After a couple of fun-filled hours had passed by, it was time for the three of them to return back to the house to prepare for the evening supper. At some point shortly after arriving back to the house, Kelly noticed that her wedding band was no longer on her finger! The engagement ring remained intact but her special marital keepsake was gone! Kelly was beyond devastated! She didn’t know what to do. She called Dan and let him know what had transpired and he too was uncertain as to how to handle the matter.

Upon Dan’s return home, after the children were tucked into bed, Kelly’s husband went to the park in search of the sentimental band. He used a flashlight to scan the ground but nothing turned up. The next day, the couple searched some more and before long, the whole community came out to assist in hunting for Kelly’s missing ring once word had gotten out about the matter on the neighborhood’s online forum. Perhaps twenty to thirty people took part in trying to solve this mystery and sadly, with all of their efforts to recover the diamond ring (using metal detectors and high lumen lights), it still was not found.

After three days of searching for the lost white gold band with diamonds, Dan and Kelly had exhausted all of their efforts. They were so afraid that someone had already picked up the ring because this little guy was nowhere to be found. It was at that point that Dan and Kelly were searching online for new ideas as to what to do next. That’s when THE RING FINDERS popped up! It’s an international directory of metal detecting specialists that are experts in finding lost rings! Immediately, Dan reached out to me, Brian Rudolph, and I was excited to take on the challenge!

The next day I arrived at Dan and Kelly’s house in Springfield, Virginia. I asked to be taken to all of the places where Kelly and the kids had walked and played several days earlier. Once we finished the tour (which started at their small lawn and ended up at the park) I had a good idea as to how to attack this project. Dan returned inside the house to do work while I gathered up my gear to begin the search.

The first step that I took in this investigation was to metal detect the front lawn of the house along with the sidewalk in front of their place and around the side of the townhouse which leads down the hill where the family had said goodbye to Dan that day. When there were no positive targets to check out, I metal detected around the community mailbox and unfortunately there was still no ring found.

The second leg of my adventure took place down the street at the park. I first started detecting on the wood chips where the playground equipment was located. I found a few miscellaneous coins and metal objects but not the item that I had hoped to find. Then, I detected the grass leading up the hill where Kelly had walked with the children, and still there was nothing found worth celebrating.

My third focus was to search all of the areas on top of the hill where Dan took me to show where Kelly had walked and hung out. I detected around the trees and did grid lines along the grass areas. There was a lot to cover. I scanned the spot where Kelly threw the sticks into the woods, and yet with all of those areas checked out, I still came away empty handed.

Next, I moved my way towards the section of the small park where Kelly and the kids made that little fort out of sticks. I kept hoping that that would be the place where Kelly must have lost her ring as she was using her hands a lot in that region of the park. Still, after working my way over and over again, back and forth, repeating my swings several times over, I wasn’t able to recover the sentimental jewelry.

After several hours of detecting since I began in front of Dan and Kelly’s house, I started to get emotionally weary and tired. I began to doubt that the band was lost in the park or that it may have been picked up by someone walking by days earlier. It was starting to get late in the afternoon by the time I finished searching most of the real estate at the top of the hill. At that point, there were only two sections left for me to metal detect. One area was perhaps about 30 feet from where the girls were building their fort. It was just on top of the hill under a tree but still a grassy spot to detect. I decided to scan the second possibility first which was a portion of hill that Dan had told me about. Kelly ran up and down that section of the hill with one of the girls during their fun time playing in the park.

Once I finished the six to eight grid line passes that I had made as I went up and down the hill with the detector, I could accurately count out yet another piece of property where the precious halo of diamonds was not lost. I now had only one more spot to check and that was that space at the top of the hill underneath the fairly large tree whose branches stretched over the hill a ways.

I began making a search pattern from the area where the make believe fort was built and moved in straight lines towards the grass that was located underneath the tree (approximately 15 feet away from the trunk). During my third pass, just as I detected a section of grass near the crest of the hill, I hit an unfamiliar target signal. It had been so long since I had gotten anything of interest and now finally a great signal was picked up in the headphones! I was truly hoping for the best as I knelt down to investigate what this object was. I knew it had to be a surface find just by the way the target sounded from my detector. Just as my handheld detector began to beep (indicating that the object was right under my portable machine) I immediately caught a glimpse as to what the item was that both detectors were picking up! It was a shiny silver-like color ring! I picked it up and immediately the diamonds began to talk to me with brilliance! I found it! I found the lost diamond wedding band that belonged to Kelly! She must have lost it while she was picking up sticks in that very spot as she was helping the girls build their imaginary fort! I couldn’t believe that I recovered the band knowing that I had almost no search area left in just a matter of minutes! I was so relieved and beyond excited to find the item that I was starting to think had not disappeared in the park or that someone had already picked it up and walked off with it! Frankly, I was in a state of shock because it had been so long since I started searching down the street and nothing had turned up until that very moment when my detector began to “sing” that beautiful melody that I love to hear when searching for lost rings!

Knowing that my search was finally over and that I could soon reveal the good news with Kelly and Dan, there was such a feeling of rejuvenation and restoration of energy that made its way through me! I couldn’t have felt happier for Kelly at that moment in time!

Early that evening, I surprised the family with the return of Kelly’s beloved wedding band and they were beyond blown away with happiness and disbelief! I even shared with them that there were people walking back-and-forth around the park during my search and they too had no luck finding the ring. Doubt began to set in with those people as well because it had been so many days and nobody could find the precious jewel (including myself for those many first tough hours out there)!

I was so excited for the couple and the children were also thrilled at what I was able to accomplish for Kelly. A special story that was connected with that wedding band was preserved for many years to come! Four grand smiles returned to the faces of that family and many thanks and words of appreciation continued to come my way in the days that followed.

Kelly and Dan still could not believe that what was lost out there in the park for so many days was actually found by one determined Ring Finder! They figured that with so many people looking for Kelly’s sentimental keepsake, it most likely was gone forever. Well, I was so proud to be that one to bring that special little treasure back home to Kelly’s ring finger! What a day that was!
