Daniel, Calah, and their family were spending a pleasant day at the beach, enjoying the sun and sand. To keep her rings safe, Calah placed both her wedding band and engagement ring in their beach bag. At some point, her niece reached into the bag to retrieve an item. In the process, the engagement ring was accidentally pulled out and fell into the sand. When Calah later went to retrieve her rings from the bag, she noticed that the engagement ring was missing.

Upon returning home, Calah and Daniel conducted a thorough search of their belongings, hoping to find the lost ring, but their efforts were in vain. Realizing they needed assistance, Daniel contacted me to see if I could help locate the missing engagement ring. After discussing the details of the situation with him, we agreed on a plan to meet at the beach where the incident occurred.

Equipped with my metal detector, I began by searching in a grid pattern around the area where they had been sitting. Despite my initial efforts, I did not find the ring in that specific area. Expanding the search further, I eventually detected a promising signal. When I scooped up the sand, the metal detector confirmed the presence of the engagement ring. I called Daniel and Calah over to the location, and they were overjoyed to see the ring returned to them. The search concluded successfully, and they were relieved to have the ring back.

Washburn Island, Massachusetts: Lost Ring Found and Returned

  • from Cape Cod (Massachusetts, United States)

A long time favorite beach of Katie and Chris, Washburn Island is only accessible by boat as there are no bridges. I had often thought about tripping to the island myself but never made solid plans.

I had been contacted via J&E Enterprises, my detector dealer, about a lost ring on the Island. Sure I would go. After Katie contacted me about her husband’s lost ring and told me pertinent information such as area and time of loss, item material etc. we made plans to make a recovery trip on Sunday. All was fine until King Neptune sent in high waves along with Mother Natures high winds which shut down the marina. No boat could leave the docks on Sunday. Next plan was for a Friday trip with low tide and predicted weather being much more favorable.

Friday came and so did moderate seas with 2-3 foot waves., it was a go. Chris the owner of the lost ring, knew where we were going. Twice I heard him say NO, the next inlet, around the NEXT curve. Well he would be proven correct, He beached the boat and told me the ring was lost within 15 feet of the boat, as he remembered it should be in the water, not on the sandy beach.

I drew marker lines in the sand made two passes and on the third I heard the beautiful tone of gold. One shallow scoop and shake or two and I walked to Chris and let him remove his ring from the scoop. He did so in total disbelief. Then without much ta-do, he was off running down the beach to where Katie had walked with their dog Mauricio. It was a wonderful sight, the reason I enjoy my hobby, the love of people and the happiness I can bring them after a traumatic happening such as a lost wedding band..

By the way, it was Mauricio who had just been lifted into the boat before Chris’s ring slipped off his finger. My thanks must go out to him for this wonderful experience.

Lost wedding ring, Saratoga Disney Springs Resort, Fl…….Found and Returned!

Wednesday night I received a call from Chris asking if I could possibly help him find his lost wedding ring! He went on to explain that he and his family had just flown into Orlando earlier that day and after they settled into their rooms they thought it was a perfect evening for a little game of catch the football! And then it all came to a sudden halt when Chris felt his ring come off of his finger. He and his family searched frantically for his ring but the St. Augustine grass had seemed to swallow it up.
For the last 5 years Chris has worn his special wedding ring and now it was gone. Made of copper and silver it was quite unique and I was sure it would give a good strong signal whenever my trusty Whites DFX metal detector went over it.
Upon arriving and seeing the small grassy area where the ring was lost, I set up four corner flags and began my search. I explained to Chris that there would be lots of signals for me to check out and by using my Garrett Pro Pointer, (thank you Chris Turner) I could easily determine if the target was deep or close to the surface and any deeper targets I would be ignoring.
It took roughly 15 minutes to locate Chris’s lost wedding ring and I never get tired of seeing the smiles and hearing the relief in the voice of the one who lost their precious ring. It was an honor to help you Chris and thank you for the generous reward!
