Massive gold signet ring lost, recovered and returned in Wallingford, PA

  • from Philadelphia (Pennsylvania, United States)

John reached out to me after finding me in the Ring Finder directory. He was looking for help in finding his 60 year old gold signet ring that came up  missing at his Wallingford, PA home after a day raking leaves. After considering buying or renting a detector himself he decided to hire a pro instead. I met John at his home the next day and he shared the details of where he was working in his yard. After a quick demonstration of my machine to prove to him I would not miss his ring if I scan over it…I went to work. He thought the ring most likely fell off in the front yard…so I started my search there…no luck. Off to the back yard we went…still no luck. Ok…time to step up my game! Back to the front yard with an expanded search…BOOM! I got that glorious gold surface tone in my headphones…I look down and there was his beautiful, massive gold ring! I called out to John who was sitting nearby…I was so happy to see the big smile on his face when he saw his ring in my hand!

Heirloom Platinum and Diamond Band lost, recovered and returned in Philadelphia, PA!

  • from Philadelphia (Pennsylvania, United States)

Gavin reached out to me after a google search led him to the Ring Finder Directory. After a brief conversation I learned of his wife, Brianne’s, lost platinum diamond wedding band. It was handed down to her from multiple generations and carried extreme sentimental value. Apparently she was throwing a ball to her dog at a local park near their home when she felt the ring slip off her finger. They searched for hours on their own before recruiting a youngster with a metal detector next door to aid in the search. After much frantic searching without success they got in touch with me. I arrived at their home later that same day…while they were somewhat skeptical that I would find the ring based on the search area and leaves on the ground…I confidently(arrogantly?) told them I would find the ring in less than 10 minutes! I felt like Babe Ruth calling for the homer! Anyway…we got to the area where the incident occurred and sure enough it was a pretty big area and lots of leaves! But Brianne did a great job marking the area and describing exactly how and where she was throwing when the ring came off. I would have liked for her to have seen rather than just felt the ring come off…but was still pretty confident that it was there.

I wasn’t aware till later that Gavin had been timing me after my claim to find in 10 minutes! Anyway, I gridded the area where i figured the ring must be and on my 3rd pass I got that sweet surface gold/platinum tone in my headphones. I swept some leaves away with my foot…Brianne standing by my side… and pointed to the ground! I think she was initially surprised and somewhat skeptical…then she saw the ring! The first thing she did after picking up the ring was give a big hug to her husband…which was awesome! We laughed and were all so happy. I asked how long the search took…9 minutes!!!

Such a nice couple…I was so happy to be able to come through for them!

Stunning white gold diamond ring lost(3 weeks ago), recovered and returned in Philadelphia, PA!!

  • from Philadelphia (Pennsylvania, United States)

Kathleen reached out to me 3 weeks ago after finding me in the Ring Finders Directory. She lives in the Fairmont section of Philadelphia with her husband Eric. She was quite stressed and anxious as she conveyed to me that her beautiful custom-made white gold diamond engagement ring had gone missing. Over the phone she did a great job explaining the details surrounding the lost ring….she keeps both her rings(diamond & band) in a bowl on the kitchen counter…the bowl is shared also by her and Eric’s car keys. They were moving both their cars in and out of driveway and garage so they could start their day. Next thing she knows her band is in the bowl…but no diamond ring! She and Eric turn the inside and outside of the house upside down looking for the ring figuring when one of them grabbed their keys from the bowl they accidently grabbed the ring too…or possibly the ring was stuck on one of the keys. After hours searching the kitchen, cars, stairs, outside steps, driveway and garage…No luck.  So she calls me….I’m happy to talk to her and give her advice but I’m really thinking my metal detector really won’t help much because if the ring fell….it would most likely be on the floor, driveway, stairs or someplace that she would see without the aid of a metal detector. I always like to manage expectations and I do not like to ask someone for a call-out fee when it’s unlikely I’m going to be successful. She does mention this narrow garden bed that runs downward along their front stairs to the driveway. She tells me its a very small area with not a lot of plants/shrubs. I recommended that she thoroughly search the entire area again…including that garden bed just with her eyes and maybe a flashlight. I told her if she still wants me to come out she can call me back. 3 weeks later!!!!!….she calls me and says she would like me to come and search with my metal detector. I admire her refusal to give up!!!!

I got there today and met both Kathleen and Eric. As I arrived and was walking up the steps I saw the little garden bed she was talking about…a small area jammed solid with low junipers. No way I’m able to sweep my detector in that bed….happy I brought my 6-inch coil! I met them in the kitchen and she went through again the details of how the ring came up missing. I’m still thinking based on everything she tells me it’s either in one of the cars or on the driveway or stairs. We go outside and I quickly scan the driveway and garage area…no luck. I then start working my metal detector down the stairs in and out of the garden bed with the juniper shrubs. I’m pushing junipers up while shoving my detector underneath and sweeping my detector the best I can in the tight space. I was getting some signals on and off again from a cable that was running through the bed….but no signals suggestive of a gold ring. Eric and Kathleen were looking down on me from the top of the stairs. I found out later Eric had just suggested to his wife that they may have to accept the fact the ring is gone forever when I got an amazing signal from my machine…I was under a juniper shrub 3/4 of the way down the steps. I pushed the shrub out of the way…and  was crazy surprised to see this beautiful white gold diamond ring sitting there amongst the leaves and roots. I took a closer look to make sure what I was seeing….when I was sure it was, in fact, a diamond ring I looked upward to Kathleen and Eric with a big smile and nodded my head yes. I think they were stunned and confused….So I nodded my head again indicating yes…I think I heard “no way…you found it?”. I then reached under the shrub picked up the ring and handed it to Kathleen. She screamed and ran into the house with it to share the news! I found out soon after that the ring was custom made with diamonds that were from generations past and the sentimental value of the ring was close to priceless to them. As a Ring FInder sometimes you go on a job and you expect a good result and recovery…I had my doubts about this one. Have to give Kathleen credit for never giving up! I was very happy over being able to reunite this nice couple with their beautiful ring!!!

Gold Wedding Band Lost, Recovered and Returned in Wilmington, DE!

  • from Philadelphia (Pennsylvania, United States)

Got a late night text from Julian after he tracked me down in the Ring Finder directory. He and his wife, newly wedded, were traveling through the area visiting friends on there way back to their home in North Carolina. Apparently he joined a pool party at a friends house in Wilmington, DE which featured a slip-and-slide in the backyard. After several adventurous turns on the slip-and-slide he noticed his beautiful 2 week old gold wedding band was no longer on his finger. After several hours of stressful searching he finally decided to reach out to a pro…and see if a metal detecting expert can reunite him with his ring.  He and his wife were planning on heading south the next day….so time was of the essence. I agreed to meet him at the house the following morning. Upon arriving, as always I asked him to walk me through what he think happened to his ring…he was quite convinced it slipped off while he was fooling around on the slip-and-slide. I proceeded to demonstrate my equipment to he and his wife so he had confidence that if I passed over the ring….I would definitely find! I gridded off the area in aand around where the slip-and-slide was set up…and began my search. I had my machine set up to isolate on the gold ring if I should pass over it. Now a gold ring on the surface will have a unique signature on my Equinox 800 metal deector…so I was hyper focused in scanning area. Sure enough on my 4th pass….i got the signal I was looking for! As Julian and his wife looked on from the other side of yard…I bent down, picked up the ring and held it high in air…..multiple cheers and a “no way!” rang out from my audience! I was very happy to be able to come through this nice, newly married couple!

Lost Diamond Engagement Ring Recovered and Returned in Wilmington, DE!

  • from Philadelphia (Pennsylvania, United States)

In her own words via text Valerie was desperate and distraught when she reached out to me to help find her missing diamond engagement ring. She lost it in the front yard of her Wilmington, DE home…she actually lost both her wedding band and engagement ring but was able to find the band after frantic hours of searching. She spent hours searching for the white gold, diamond engagement ring before finding me in the Ring Finder Directory. She texted me and I called her right away…told her I could be there that afternoon. She was stuck at work till 9 pm but said her daughter, Kylie, would be there and could assist me. When I got to her home I called Valerie and asked where she was in the yard when she lost her rings…she told me sort of in the middle…maybe to the left of the front door. The grass was a bit high and bushy so I could see how it would be difficult to find the ring without a metal detector. Anyway 60 seconds later and maybe 5-6 sweeps of my machine I got the all-to-familiar surface gold tone on my machine! Bent down…parted the grass…and there was her beautiful ring!  I had knocked on the door to introduce myself to Kylie when I first arrived….now I was knocking on the door again 3 minutes later to hand her her mom’s ring! She was very happy I was able to find and return her mom’s lost ring. I understand Valerie did some screaming at work when she heard the news! Always fun and rewarding when you can come through for nice people!

Beautiful, Sentimental Gold Charms Lost, Recovered and Returned in Swedesboro, NJ!

  • from Philadelphia (Pennsylvania, United States)

Got a late night text from Renee after she found me in the Ring Finder Directory. After a few days of frantic searching and the purchase and attempted use of a cheap metal detector she decided to reach out to a professional! In our text conversation she shared with me that she was out berry-picking at her home in the Swedesboro, NJ area when her hand got caught in her beautiful gold, charm-laden necklace and the chain broke spilling all the charms over a grassy area. She was able to find the chain and 2-3 of the charms but couldn’t locate 2 of them. She told me that she acquired the charms in France many years ago….and they were extremely important to her. I agreed to meet her the following afternoon. Upon arrival to her home I first asked to see the similar charms she was able to recover….I scanned them with my detector to firstly make sure my machine could pick them up and secondly to calibrate my machine to pick up just them when scanning the area. She made it easy for me by marking the area where the chain broke and she found several of the charms. I was about 3 minutes into the search when my machine let out a sweet low tone that suggested gold! With Renee at my shoulder I bent down and pushed some grass out of the way….there they were! The immediate relief and joy showing on Renee’s face makes it all worth it! I was very happy to be able to reunite Renee with her very important and sentimental charms!

Lost Engagement Ring Recovered and Returned in Kennett Square, PA!

  • from Philadelphia (Pennsylvania, United States)

Got a call from Dan from Kennett Square, PA after he found me in the Ring Finders Directory. He and his fiancee, Sarah, are engaged to be married in October of this year. Dan was seeking help in locating Sarah’s lost emerald and diamond engagement ring. Apparently the day before Sarah spent the afternoon planting flowers in a bed in their side and back yard…later that day when back in house she noticed her beautiful ring was not on her finger. After searching the dirt around the newly planted flowers without success they considered renting or buying a metal detector to look for the ring. But to quote Dan…”decided the job best left to a pro” and they reached out to me. I met them late afternoon on a Tuesday and they quickly gave me a detailed run down on where they think the ring must have come off. Of note is the fact that they both told me the ring was too big for her finger and had a tendency to slip off. Anyway, it wasn’t a large search area… basically 2 mulched flower beds somewhat crowded with flowers. I brought 3 machines with me…since the area was tight with plants I went with my Minelab Equinox 800 with a 6 inch coil…which would allow me to get in tight around the pants and close to the house. As always I first demonstrated my equipment on my own wedding ring to convey to Dan and Sarah that if I’m over the ring I’m not going to miss it! I searched the small back bed first with out success…Dan/Sarah anxiously watching nearby. I moved to the front bed and during my 1st pass my machine blasted out a beautiful 11 gold tone in my headphones. I’ve been detecting for 40 years…I knew  before even bending down and digging that this was the ring! I called Dan and Sarah over and smiled and said….I like this signal! I grabbed my pinpointer and jabbed it 2 inches down into mulch and it announced  a target. Grabbed a fistful of mulch and turned to Dan and Sarah….opened my hand…and there it was!!! Dan was crazy happy and Sarah’s face flooded with relief! Another successful recovery!

Gold Wedding Band Lost, Recovered and Returned in Philadelphia, PA!

  • from Philadelphia (Pennsylvania, United States)

Received a late night text from Pedro seeking help in finding his recently lost rose gold wedding band. In speaking with Pedro the following morning he shared that he suffered a sleepless night thinking of his lost band which had disappeared off his finger the day before. We had a big snowstorm in Philadelphia Friday night and the next day Pedro and his wife, Bruna, went for a little adventure in the snowy park nearby. He shared with me that his ring was only 10 months old….a little  loose and he had just put moisturizer on his hands prior to leaving for the park. While at the park he removed his gloves at different times to take pictures with his phone. He did not realize his ring was missing off his hand till later that evening at home.

I agreed to meet them with my metal detector at the park Sunday morning. Here is the good news…Pedro had a pretty good idea as to the areas where they stopped and he took off his gloves to take pictures…he also told me his wife wears the exact ring as him(maybe a little smaller) enabling me to scan it and set up my detector to zero in on it. Here is the bad news….huge park…big crowds…and they covered quite a bit of ground on their walk. When I got to the park I was a little intimidated by the size of the search area…but my experience always tells me to start at the end of the walk and/or where they feel they most likely lost and work toward the beginning. I firstly had Bruna put her identical ring on the ground and demonstrated to them that if they put me over the lost one I will definitely pick it up with my machine…I was also able to eliminate signals from all other metals. We then proceeded to walk a 1/4 mile through the park to the very end of their adventure where they stopped to make a snowman and Pedro took pictures. It was the most amazing thing….while I had a little bit of a feeling that I was  searching for a needle in a haystack I also felt good about the strategy to start searching where I did. I started to detect around the area where they built the snowman and was on my 4th pass when I got a good signal on my machine….I looked down and there was a gold rim just breaking the surface of snow! I couldn’t believe it…don’t think I even searched 10 minutes! I didn’t even bend down… I looked at Bruna and Pedro and smiled. They both said no way! I called Pedro over and pointed at the snow…I think us Ring Finders live for this moment! To say they were surprised and excited would be an understatement. They were such a nice couple…it brought me such great joy to be able to come trough for them. They will be heading back to Brazil next year…its cool that I was able to provide such a great and interesting memory from there time here!

Gold Wedding Band Recovered and Returned in West Chester, PA!

  • from Philadelphia (Pennsylvania, United States)

Boyd reached out to me after losing his beautiful, large gold wedding band while landscaping his backyard in West Chester, PA. He had been looking for it for a week with no luck and was about to give up when a friend of his referred him to to me and the Ringfinder directory. I had helped his friend find a lost phone with my metal detector the year before. Anyway, I agreed to meet Boyd at his house and he walked me through the facts surrounding the lost ring. He was 100% sure he had it on while he was raking leaves and cleaning up brush around his backyard. After losing it he spent hours looking with his eyes and raking around in case it was hiding underneath remaining leaves. As I always do I started by demonstrating my machine to Boyd…I throw my wedding band on the ground and let him hear how clearly my detector picks it up. Basically I want him to feel confident that if I swing the detector over it…I’m not going to miss it!!! and miss it I did not! About 10 minutes into the search I heard that satisfying surface gold signal with my metal detector! It was underneath some leaves and brush in an area where Boyd said he had searched several times. Boyd was very happy to have his ring back in his possession! I told him being a ringfinder is always a lot more fun when you’re able to return the missing item!

Gold anniversary ring lost, recovered and returned in Phoenixville, PA!

  • from Philadelphia (Pennsylvania, United States)

Received a Wednesday morning text from Felix who found me in the Ring Finder directory. I broke away from work and gave him a quick call to allow him to fill me in on the details of his wife’s lost ring. Apparently his wife, Kim, was at a community farm in Phoenixville, PA with her daughter the day before picking up her weekly veggie share. Felix told me both his wife and daughter saw the ring fall off her finger while they were picking and bagging their veggies. He shared that the area where it dropped was 4-6 inch high farm field grass and that both his wife and daughter spent hours searching for it with no success. I conveyed to him that I was quite confident I could find it for them and we agreed to meet at that farm at 5 pm later that same day.

I met kim at the farm and she showed the exact area where she felt and saw it come off her finger.  The area consisted of  rows of raised vegetable laden mounds each separated by 6 feet of 4-6 inch farm field grass. Kim knew exactly where the ring came off…even showed me the basil plant she had picked just prior to seeing her ring slip off. It fell off when she was putting the basil in a bag and she tried to catch it before it hit the ground. Her daughter saw the falling ring as well. She was amazed/surprised/concerned about not finding her beautiful white gold anniversary ring…she just figured she can’t see it in tall grass. At this point I’m figuring 3 minutes max…I’m going to find this thing! Well after 15 minutes of searching both sides of the basil mound and the basil mound itself I was starting to question whether it was actually there. I took my own gold ring off several times to check my equipment and convince kim that if I’m over it I’m not going to miss it.

Well after several passes of the area she was convinced the ring was I figured its time to expand the search area. I moved over an entire row to the adjacent grassy lane….maybe 15- 20 feet from where she was convinced it dropped and finally hear the beautiful signal I had been looking for. I hadn’t even bent over yet and the ring still wasn’t visible beneath the grass but I knew what it was! I gave Kim a big smile and bent down to part the grass…there was her big gorgeous ring! We laughed and high fived…she couldn’t believe how far it was from where she thought it fell. I truly live for the joy I brought her by putting that ring back in her possession!
