I received voice message in regards to a lost gold and platinum ring at a golf course, I replied and the next day Stephen called to discuss the search. I have my typical questions I would ask to understand what my chances would be to find the ring.

Steve told me that he had bought a metal detector off of Amazon and search but cannot find it, this is very typical as I’ve had many people over the years buy or rent to metal detectors without finding the ring and I come in and find it in minutes, only because I’ve had many many years of experience with this type of equipment and these types of searches.

When I met Stephen at the golf course he pulled out a metal detector and let me have a look, it wasn’t a very expensive detector but I was surprised at how well it responded to my test ring. I felt if he got over the area he should’ve found it with this machine.

He show me the very small area where he took off both of his rings and placed them on his jacket on a bench nearby where he was practising his putting. He was certain they fell off his jacket when he grabbed his jacket forgetting the rings were on top. He found his signet ring but could not find his wedding band.

I began my search but had a couple obstacles in the way what I believe was the sprinkler turn off valve that caused a lot of interference with my detector even at low sensitivity. I search the area front and back with no success. I even went around the water caps with my fingers to make sure it wasn’t wedged knowing I couldn’t use my metal detector that close to it.

After exhausting the search area I focussed on where I could not use my metal detector, I went very slowly around the water caps got a broken signal that looked remotely similar to what I was looking for on my visual display, I bent down with my pin pointer and spotted his beautiful gold and platinum ring in a deep grass a foot away from the trouble zone.

It was a busy Sunday, my first search was for 3 1/2 hours and no success walking over two kilometres looking for a lost wedding band for a young man. The next day I saw it posted on craigslist and I contacted him to let him know someone had found it and said that they found it two days before I started the search. I felt very happy that his ring was found and returned, then I drove to Chilliwack to find a ring in the backyard (5 minute search) and then on the way home I stopped off at Crescent Beach were a young lady’s mother contacted me in regards to her daughter losing three very precious rings that were gifts from her great grandmother, grandmother, and her mother.

She went on to tell me the rings were lost two days prior to her calling me, so I knew it could be a bit of a long shot due to how many people search these beaches in the summertime. We met at around 8 PM at the beach and talks about the search area, the young lady told me that they were playing volleyball and throwing a football. She also told me she took off all three rings and gave it to a friend to put in his pocket so she would not lose them. Playing volleyball they did not have a net and we’re just passing it around so no real reason for the rings to jump out of the pocket. Also it was short grass so most likely I would have spotted at least one ring. After 30 minutes on the grass I moved the search to the sandy part of the beach where they were throwing the football. She remembered her friend had fallen to the ground a couple of times trying to catch the pass.

This was my ”hot area” as diving for the ball and landing on the sand would definitely cause rings to fall out of a pocket. After approximately 30 minutes of grid searching the area it wasn’t looking good for success, until I’m close to my last grid search line I popped up one of the rings!!!

I now gnu the chances of finding the other two were extremely high in that approximate area and I was right! Will you see here on my post and my videos are smiles and recoveries, when you don’t see is the many times I go out searching for rings and I’m not successful. Most times it’s because people did not lose the ring where they thought they lost it, they will call me the next day or two sometimes a month or two later and tell me where they found it in their house or in their car. In all my years I’ve only had one search where I missed the ring and the people found it themselves. I’m only human I can make mistakes too.

The connection to these rings were very powerful, they were her a gift from her grand mother, her great grandmother, and her mothers gold rings, handed down to her to continue the story and hopefully one day pass on to her daughter or son. I felt honoured to be able to help find and help continue the stories of these beautiful rings.

Lost diamond ring found in Chilliwack, BC

I received a call the other day from a young man who said his wife had lost her diamond wedding band in their backyard while she was suntanning. I was already on a long search for a lost ring in Richmond, I told him when I wrap this up I would give him a call. Three hours later I phoned John to discuss the search in his backyard, I found out he lived in Chilliwack which is about two hour drive from my location.

Knowing the ring was lost in the backyard I was confident I would find it, however I have been fooled before, some searches you think are going to be easy turn out to be the hardest. When I made it to his place., John greeted me and show me the area his wife was suntanning, it wasn’t a very big backyard and I knew in the back of my mind that it could be a fast recovery. John told me that his wife put both of her rings in a book as a bookmark while she was suntanning and reading, somehow the wedding band fell out of the book and into the grass.

John and his wife felt the ring could be at the last spot she was tanning, they spent many hours on their hands and knees searching the grass, but no it wasn’t there. I extended the search out and back around the corner and found her beautiful diamond wedding band just inches beneath the grass, but not visible. These rings find ways to hide so easily and make it so hard for people to find without the use of a proper metal detector and an experienced operator.

Yesterday late afternoon, I received a call from a young lady by the name of Virginia, she told me that she had lost her diamond ring that was a gift handed down from her great great grandmother. She went on to tell me that she rode her bike to the park to enjoy her lunch break, that’s where she lost her ring. Virginia told me she would be off work at 5:30 pm and would meet me at the park at 5:45 pm, I got there early to ensure I could find parking as it’s right beside a popular beach.  I met Virginia at 5:45 pm and she went on to tell me the story of how she lost her ring, she had taken it off to apply suntan lotion to her self and place it on the towel that she was sitting on. You can imagine what happens next, it’s a very common thing for people to forget, stand up, and lift up the towel. She did not realize she had lost her ring until she got back to work a few hours later. She went back to search the area but cannot find it in the long grass and daisies not to mentioned that it’s very hard to locate the exact spot where she had the lunch.

She had taken some photos during lunch and showed it to me, we could tell there was daisies in front of her towel so I started my search and within 30 minutes I located her beautiful diamond ring that was buried beneath the grass. When people are not exactly sure where they may have lost the ring but having good idea it just takes time to slowly grid search and find it, because we know it is there somewhere.

I woke up the other day to a text message asking for help to find a lost platinum wedding band in the ocean. I text back saying I’d be happy to help and that I would called him later in the day because I was on my way to work. Happens that day our cell phone provider was shut down for almost 12 hours but I did manage to reach the young man and arrange to meet the next day as I had it off.

After talking on the phone a bit I learned that he lost his ring at low tide in chest deep water which was a good thing because it didn’t really matter how long it was there, I was pretty certain no one would have found it because the water isn’t that warm this time of year and most people who metal detect would stay to the dry sand.

I went to the location early before low tide to make sure I get a parking spot and there was a rally going on for 420 which is known for a yearly meeting for pot smoker’s. I found out later there was also a rally for not wearing masks and not being told what to do hundreds of people there for that as there was for the 420 event.

Ashley emailed me that his wife would be meeting me to show me the location because he was going to be a little bit late, I met his wife and children and they walked me over to the location then had to leave because they needed to find a better parking spot so they wouldn’t get a ticket.

Just minutes after they left I began to search and found the ring in probably 20 seconds in waist deep water, I was able to surprise her husband who came a later and after that he helped me surprise his wife. It was so fun to see her reaction and what the ring meant to her and with the ring meant to both of them I was so honoured to be able to help continue that story for them, what a lovely couple!

Today I received a call from a young lady who told me that she had lost her gold & diamond pendant. She told me that she had lost it off of her patio and she felt it come off but didn’t hear where it landed. Her and her girlfriend had spent hours looking for the pendant with no luck. The reason that she knew to call TheRingFinders was because a month earlier her husband had hired me to look for his lost platinum wedding band. Unfortunately he lost it last summer, I had no luck or no chance in finding it because it was a heavily hunted beach a lot of time had passed before I did my search.

I arranged to meet the young lady after work and shortly after 8:30 PM I arrived at the search location, I met her and she showed me where she was standing when she lost her diamond pendent, she showed me where they were looking and also told me that she took all the plants out of the flower pot and search the dirt because it made sense to her it could’ve fallen into the flower pot. After not finding it in the flower pot she moved her search below the deck and into the grass but couldn’t understand why she didn’t see it in the short grass, I decided my search at the first place she thought it was lost and that was the flower pot, I put my pin pointer into the flower pot and I got a good signal right away. She was surprised to hear my pin-pointer go off and said that she had searched it with no luck earlier in the day.

Well after only about a minute of searching I found her beautiful diamond pendant and I was able to surprise her, it’s truly amazing where these sentimental items end up being found, especially after people have search for many hours and couldn’t find it.

Lost White Gold Wedding Band Found at Third Beach, Vancouver

I was at work yesterday doing a long day when near the end night I got a text message asking for help, then shortly after a phone call. A young man had lost his white gold wedding band at Third Beach in Vancouver. He told me it was extremely important for me to find it, that is always the case and I totally understand that, so I set up a time to meet him after work.

After a 13 hour day I met the young man at the beach at approximately 10:15 pm, he showed me the area where he believed the ring fell off his finger, it didn’t take long to find his beautiful white gold ring and help continue that story. He and his friends spent 30 minutes in the dark searching for the ring with no success. Sometimes recovery of the ring can be very quick when others times it could take a very long time to find, fortunately he put me in the right area, so tonight it was a quick search and I was home shortly after midnight

Lost Platinum Wedding Band in Vancouver, BC Lost & Found!

Well it was a Sunday last week and it was a day full of rain, sun & wind, I was enjoying the day working on my directory when I got a call from a young man who was from Vancouver and had lost his wedding ring. I stopped everything grabbed my equipment and headed out to help him.

Before I left I did ask him what I was looking for and it was his platinum wedding band that fell off the ninth floor of his apartment building. I got them to send me some photos and saw that it was pretty soft ground and I knew platinum falling from that high up would embed into the dirt quite easily.

He told me that his wife and two friends were helping him look for it most of the morning but cannot find it, that’s when they found me online and gave me a call. When I was driving to the location the sun was out and it felt like spring, shortly after I got there it started raining.

When I got there I asked my typical questions just to make sure I was in the right location, I looked up 9 floors and I asked him what side of the patio the ring fell from and then began my search.

It didn’t take too long to find his beautiful platinum wedding band, buried 1/2 inch into the ground. I’ve been doing this for so many years and found hundreds of rings for people and I got to tell you, I’m still as excited to see the glimmer of gold or platinum and knowing that  I’m going to surprise these people with a very sentimental item that they cherish and now can reconnect with…Makes me so happy inside! I got a call last night from a young man who said his wife had lost her wedding band possibly at Kits Beach Dog Park. I asked my standard questions to see how certain they were of the location and after talking for a few minutes we set up a time to meet the next morning at 8 AM, when I got there the tide was high and very close to the logs. When I met Dave and Stephanie they showed me the area that she was petting dogs and it was the front logs closest to the water, unfortunately she also pointed in the water saying she had stepped away from the log and was standing over there when the tide was out. This would put me in about 3 feet of water if the ring wasn’t found in the dry sand. Nothing like a cold dip in the ocean but I was prepared to go in and do a search if needed, fortunately I found her beautiful ring close to the logs where she was sitting petting the dogs. This ring meant the world to Dave & his wife because it was a gift from his uncle, Dave’s uncle sadly passed away last year due to  COVID-19 and as you could imagine finding this ring was extremely important to both of them. I absolutely love what I do! I’m extremely proud of my directory and the members who have joined to do exactly what I’m doing here in Vancouver and that’s helping find peoples lost smiles & helping continue the stories to these wonderful and sentimental items.

How to find a gold wedding band in the snow in South Surrey, BC…

Winter is almost done here maybe two or three weeks left, we escaped with very little snow… Just yesterday we got our first taste of winter with a few inches of snow and my phone started ringing, keys were on the top of the list and late yesterday a call for a lost gold ring in the snow, possibly on the sidewalk in front of the person’s house or in the yard. We made plans to meet early in the morning to do the search, I arrived at 9 AM and met the couple and we discussed the search areas. I found out that they been married for 40 years so you can imagine the story that is attached with her custom-made ring.

After carefully listening to where they believe the ring may have fallen off of her finger when she pulled off her glove, I started to search that area and after 15 minutes I move my search into the yard for a quick look. I changed detectors and headed back to the first location where part of the driveway was ploughed and snow was piled on the side of the road. I got a signal and with the pin pointer I pulled out her beautiful gold wedding band from the snow.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

It was very fortunate that we found it because after the snow would’ve melted it would’ve been very easily spotted on the roadway… I love my job and helping people find what they have lost and I understand the stories that are attached to these beautiful rings, I understand if they are lost forever so is the story attached to them.
