Brooklyn called me after she had lost her wedding ring at the beach. She knew the area where it should be, so I let her know I was available, and would leave immediately to insure a better chance of a successful recovery.

When I got there I met up with Brooklyn, and she took me over to where the ring should be, the area wasn’t huge, but the sand was soft which made a hand recovery very difficult. I turned on my detector, and began my grid making a few passes, and finding some trash metal. It is tough because every time I dig a piece of foil, or a bottle cap, the person I am helping gets a rush of hope that is quickly deflated when I show them what I found. I didn’t take long, and not too many false alarms before I had her ring in my scoop. I held it out for her, which made her very happy.

Don’t let the County beach cleaning machines take your lost valuable, call as soon as possible! I will work hard, searching beaches, parks, and yards, using the most up to date metal detectors, to help you find what you thought might never be found again. *** I met Davi at a fire pit on the sand at Huntington State.Beach. He believed his silver class ring was in the sand. He had it on when he got to the group beach party. He didn’t feel it come off his finger. We scanned the area around the where he had been with no success.

As I was talking to him he said,he spent most of his time in a chair next to the firepit.

I suggested that I would return in the morning with sifting equipment to check the coals after they cooled off.

It was only 5 miles from my place and I felt it was worth a try. Davi didn’t want to bother me anymore. It was just a feeling I had, even thought he didn’t believe he did anything to lose the ring in the fire.

The next morning the coals were still hot so I took a bucket of water to cool the coals, so I could search them..

A couple of shovel full of wet soggy ashes and there was a blackened silver ring in the sifter. A lucky guess that I had because I knew the ring was not in the area I searched in the dry sand around the firepit.

Oura Ring Lost in Sand at Playa Del Rey Beach…Found and Happily Returned.

If you lost your ring or other important item, please call right away because time will work against a successful recovery. Steve Smith: 310-953-5268

Madison called on 4th of July night after losing her Oura ring. I figured the beach would be full of people shooting off their fireworks, so I asked if we could do the search the next morning.

I got there a little before Madison, and could see that the beach had not been cleaned. She took me out to the area, and proceeded to take out her phone and look around. I asked if the ring had a find my ring feature, which she said it did. She gave me an area, and when I swung my detector, I got a signal, dug, and had her ring. That app put her right on top of it; AMAZING! I was able to give it to her, which made her day.

Gold Ring Lost in Santa Monica Backyard…Found and Joyfully Returned.

Alan called asking for help in finding a ring his wife had lost in their back yard. I was doing a search in a burned home in the Palisades at the time of the call, and told Alan I would be able to help him after I was finished.

When I got there Alan introduced me to his wife Ronnie, and she took me to the backyard showing me the area of the loss. It wasn’t very big, but the grass was tall and thick which would hide a ring easily. I began my search working the open area with no luck. Then I began working around some pots and pallets in the area. At the corner of one of the pallets I received a solid signal, put my pinpointer in, and found her ring. It had been her grandmother’s ring, and she became very emotional when I gave it back to her. It turned out to be a great day.

Cellphone Lost During a Car Accident .. Found One Month Later with a Metal Detector

Detecting service available to help you find important lost items… Stan the MetalDetector Man ..Call or text  949-500-2136

***  I received a text message from the parents, whose daughter was involved in an auto accident more than 4 weeks ago.  Their daughter’s phone was lost on the roadside and they had the location pin from the Find My phone app, They made a couple unsuccessful trips searching an area just off the side of pacific coast highway across from Bolsa Chica Beach.

I was sent a text with latitude / longitude coordinates that were taken just after the accident. He told me it was very important to retrieve the phone. I entered the co ordinates in my gps device. The next day I drove to the general location and was able to locate phone using my metal detector.

Cellphones often get picked up by pedestrians in public areas because they can’t hide as well as smaller objects. I’m getting more confident finding cellphones if they have an active Find My phone app and it shows battery life with a gps location.

I sent a text message with a photo of the phone. The parents texted me back with a location to meet and pick up the phone. This recovery was done completely by texting messages and It wasn’t necessary for them to meet me at the location of the loss.  I do not always need a person to meet me at the search location, if they have gps co ordinates.   Sometimes I know the area well enough to save clients the trouble of meeting me. Of course it’s always better to have them see how thorough I search and understand how a professional metal detecting search is performed.

Yonatan contacted me because he had lost his ring at the beach earlier in the day, and had exhausted all possibilities of finding it. It was about 9:00 PM, but told him that because the beach is detected frequently, and cleaned by machines in the morning, that I would go that night if he would wait for me. He agreed, and I was on my way.

When I got there Yonatan was with a group of friends, and they came over as I was walking out to them. They were excited at the possibility of him getting his ring back, as was I. He told me he was playing volley ball when the ring came off, and he knew when and where it happened. In fact they had even marked the spot with a sandal. He told me it was silver, and began to describe it, when I said, that it will probably be the only ring I find that night. Well I turn the detector on, swing a couple of times, and get a solid silver tone in the head phones. I dig, and in the scoop is a silver ring. I hold it out for Yonatan, who comes over. He takes it, holds it in his hand, and says to my surprise, this ring is not mine. Who would have known? So I continued the search working pass after pass until I was a good distance outside of the designated search area when I got another solid silver tone, dug, and had another silver ring in the scoop. This time it was his, and the excitement among his friends was electric. It was about 11:00 PM. He then told me he was on vacation from Israel, and was going back the next week. We got to talk a little about his country, because my wife and I had visited back in 2019, and had a wonderful time. So great to see so many smiles in one place!

Gold Necklace recovered in Huntington Beach

Rich called me and explained that he had his wife’s necklace on his lap when they decided to pack up from the beach and go home. It wasn’t until they got home when he realized the necklace was missing.

I met him at the beach and he showed me the area they were sitting. On my second pass with my metal detector I received a good tone and the rest is history, the gold necklace came up with a gentle nudge from my foot.

.. Susanne is from San Francisco, CA. visiting Newport Beach for a week. The first day of her vacation she lost her wedding ring set in the sand. Both Platinum diamond rings were somewhere in an area the size of a two basket ball courts. After several hours on the beach she discovered that her platinum diamond wedding ring set were no longer on her finger.

She found my contact information online. She called me in a panic and I was able to calm her down by saying I was on my way to meet her. I gave her a little confidence that the rings were not lost forever. With the new and improved metal detectors, we have a very good chance to locate her rings. Especially, because she had not been anywhere else, only on the beach.

Shortly after the conversation on the phone, I met Susanne at the location. There was not too many people on the beach, so it would be easy to do a professional grid search. Within 30 minutes I had two beautiful and irreplaceable diamond rings recovered from the dry sand. She was so relieved and happy to have them back where they belong. I never get tired of seeing the happiness that our service gives to people.

Cole had been playing in the park with his dog, when with the flick of his wrist, his ring flew off of his hand and landed in the tall grass. He and a friend had scoured the area for at least an hour before calling, and requesting help. They had remained there, so I told them I would come immediately.

When I got there, I needed to find out exactly where they were, and find a place to park out on the main street because the park had closed for the night. When I did find them Cole showed me where he had been standing, and what he did to make the ring fly off of his hand, so I had a starting point. He thought it might have flown far, so I was prepared for a lengthy search. I got my gear on and began, and within 5 swings of my detector, I had a strong signal. I pulled out my pin pointer, put it in, and  found Cole’s ring about 2 inches under the grass. I brought it up, and he was a bit surprised that it had been so close all along. Well, some smiles were made that day, and he could leave the park with a sigh of relief.

*** I was on a search in the Long Beach, CA. area, when Justin’s mother called me about a lost cellphone at Bolsa Chica State Beach. I told her that I would be passing that beach about 8:30pm. If she could give me the general area, I would do a quick scan of the firepit area.

The loss occurred two days before she called. It was still no problem to give it a try. Machelle told me it was the 4th firepit north of lifeguard tower 25.. Easy to find except there were no firepits north of tower 25.

A quick call to Machelle and we decided it could of been tower 24.. I walked the couple hundred yards to number four firepit and the cellphone was still there under about a foot of sand.. ( unusually deep ) Found out later that one of the kids probably buried it..

Justin’s father picked it up the next morning and said it was his son’s first phone. This was going to be a great surprise when he could return it to Justin.
