Randy called me about a set of keys that had been run over by a commercial lawn mower and the most important key was nowhere to be found. He and his son had walked the area numerous times hoping to find the keys but all they could see were bits and pieces of his truck fob/key. The lost keys were very important as they were the only keys he had that opened his storage shed/office and a master key to the apartment building that he owned and managed!

After a thorough search on the internet he finally came across theringfinders.com website and gave me a call. Upon hearing Randy’s story I figured the keys were there hiding in the grass and they may be whole or in pieces as the mower all but destroyed the fob and one key there were able to find. So later that afternoon I met Randy and he showed me the area and as I grid searched back and forth I realized the ground was loaded with trashy signals of all kinds so I concentrated on the strongest and most shallow signals and that helped me locate–first two bent up keys and the metal ring and then just a few steps away, the most important key! Randy was thrilled and relieved to have his keys back and could not stop saying thank you!

Lost BMW Fob/ Business Key Remote in Lake Wippoorwill, Orlando, Florida…Found with Large Magnet!

Got a call from a young man who told me he lost his BMW fob/ remote to his car and business where he works. It wasn’t until I met him and listened to his story that I found out that he actually got upset about something and ended up throwing…not just one set of keys but two sets! And to add more fuel to the fire he admited that he threw them into a lake behind his house…and when I asked if he played baseball in high school he said sheepishly, “Yes”! So I asked him to throw two stones that were similar in size and weight to the key sets and that gave me some idea as to how far out into the water I needed to start looking with my large magnet!

I slid my kayak into the water and spent the next two hours slowly bobbing it off the bottom and every 30 seconds or so I would pull it up to see if I had found them. It was very tiring and I figured I did approximately 200 or more bicep curls…but in the end I was able to retrieve one set and the young man was very thankful for that much. (I chose not to do a scuba dive for the simple fact that the search area was just way to large and it was over 10 feet deep!).

All in all I was very thankful that God allowed me to find at least one set of his keys for him and hopefully he learned a valuable lesson! These situations happen allot and please do not feel that it is a hopeless cause.

Car Key and RemoteThrown Into Bushes in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA…Found and Returned.

While out on the beach doing the night search for the lost wedding band I got a desperate call from Josh. He had thrown his car key and remote off of his apartment balcony into the ivy and bushes, and was unable to find them. I let him know that I would come over as soon as I finished my search for the ring.

I finished my ring search about 10:00 PM, and arrived at Josh’s house about 10:30 PM. He explained what he did and showed me the area. There was not only ivy, but bougainvillea as well, two forms of shrubbery that can hide things well. I put on my headlight, and grabbed my detector and pin pointer and began my search. I found a number of metal items such as cans and bottle caps. I continued my search a little out of the initial area, and found the car key. Josh was surprised and very happy. I continued the search for the remote doing battle with the bougainvillea, but I was losing the battle with blood dripping from my arms from the wicked thorns that were hard to see at night, so I told Josh that I would come the next day when the sun was up to do a more thorough search for the remote. I got there today and asked Josh to recreate the actions he took the previous night. It looked as though the remote was going to be in one of the bushes. I was able to get my detector coil under the bushes, and under one of the bougainvillea got a real good signal. I put the pin pointer under the bush being careful of the thorns, and deep in the bush was the remote. Josh was overjoyed to get his key and remote back, and I was happy to have made his day.

Key Lost in Los Angeles, CA Park…Found and Returned.

I was having lunch yesterday with my wife and son who we were fortunate to be able to visit with his busy college schedule, when I received a call from Nate about his key that he lost at his local park. Nate had been exercising, and left his key and phone in a specific spot in the grass so as not to lose them while running. When he was finished, he picked up his phone, and forgot the key. When he got home he realized the key was still back at the park and went back to search for it. He told me that he searched for about 4 hours, and was not able to find it. I told him that because I was with my family, I could meet with him in the morning today to do a search. I figured that if he could not find it with a thorough search that no one was going to happen upon it before I got there.

I met Nate at the park at about 10:00 AM , and he took me to the area where he left his phone and key. It wasn’t huge, and the grass was not very high, but just high enough to hide a small item such as a key. I grabbed my detector, and pin pointer, and checked every signal, some were deep, and some surface (bottle caps and such). After about 3 passes in the grid I got a good signal, looked down, and in the grass saw Nate’s key. I walked over to him asking a question about his key when I opened my hand to show that it had been found. He just could not believe it was still there, thinking that possibly a dog might have eaten it, or someone might have found it. This key was his house key, and was so important that he had spent 4 hours searching for it, and looking on the internet in hopes of finding a way to recover it, where he found me on The Ring Finders site. I am glad he was successful in his internet search, and that I was able to be a part of the operation; GREAT SMILE!

Yesterday (03/24/17) I lost my house key at the park and I searched 3-4 hours for it on my own and had no luck. I called Steve and he said he couldn’t make it out that day but tomorrow would be better. We agreed to meet the next morning and he was there on time. He asked me a few intelligent questions, and his patience was remarkable. The hardest part about finding the key was that it was not on a keychain and not uniquely designed, but it still only took him 15 minutes to find it! I really needed that key to get in and out of my house. He pretty much made my week by finding it, and I thank him for taking the time to help me out. He didn’t make me feel like I was wasting his time, and I could tell he enjoys his job and takes it seriously. Thank you Steve!

Lost Keys at Malibu Creek State Park…Found.

I received a call from Pat this morning worried because she had lost her keys the day before. I agreed to meet her at the location, which would take me a couple of hours to get to. When I arrived Pat showed me the area, and it was covered with tall grass and weeds grown from recent rain storms. She told me that the bundle of keys was large, so I figured the hunt would be pretty simple. Also she was worried because some of the keys would be very hard to replace. Her car key was also with this bundle, so the likelihood of them being lost in this location was great because she had them when she arrived, but when she got back to her car she could not get in.

I proceeded to hunt in the tall grass, and worked the area slowly and surely. I covered the area completely, and then went out of the box. I then started looking in areas that might not have been a possibility, but still with no luck. It was a warm day here in So. Cal. (about 85 where I was hunting), so I went back to the truck to get a drink of water and regroup. I then went over the first area again with no luck. I knew from what Pat had told me, those keys had to be there, so I had to press on. At this point I decided to switch detectors, and went to a 6 inch coil, and then proceeded to begin the whole search again. I got to the mid way point when I got a confirming signal. I put in my pin pointer, and found Pat’s keys in weeds that really were not too high, but had wide leaves which were able to hide her keys quite well.

Pat had gone off walking her dogs when I found her keys, and was walking back as I was getting back to the car. At this time I raised my hand with her keys dangling, and could see relief appear on her face. It was a pleasure to be able to help Pat today, and to know I was a part of the joy she experienced.
