Man’s White Gold Wedding Band Lost in North Myrtle Beach, Found and Returned

I received a late night email from Kim saying that they were here on vacation with some friends and one of them, Tommy, had lost his wedding band. She asked if it was something I could possibly help with. I replied asking if he thinks he could put me in the right area and to give me a phone number and I’d call him this morning for the details. She wrote back saying she thought he could and gave me his number. I think she was emailing me while Tommy and his wife were searching for his ring in the dark.

I contacted Tommy at about 8:15 this morning, waking him up, and got the details and location. Told him I’d be there in about 20 minutes and was on my way. These were perfect conditions because it hadn’t gotten hot yet with a heat index over 100 and there shouldn’t be the big crowds to contend with.

When I arrived, I walked out on the beach and called him saying I was there. When we met, he was standing in an area of soft sand that was maybe 10ft X 10ft. He told me that he had handed his ring to his wife to hold while he put sun screen on himself and her. He wasn’t sure what happened after that, but at the end of the day, the ring couldn’t be found. I started a grid line and just as I started the 4th line, Boom, I got a solid 12 on the Equinox 800. I dug a small scoop of sand, checked the hole to make sure I had the ring, and dumped the sand. As I did, I saw the glistening of his white gold ring lying in the sand. I reached down, and picked it up with the scoop, shook the sand out, and walked over to where Tommy was standing. I stuck the scoop out for him to see his ring and then he reached in and plucked it out. Overjoyed was definitely an understatement in this case.

Kim, I didn’t get to meet you, but thank you for reaching out to me and putting me in touch with Tommy.

Hit the Trifecta at Oval Beach, Saugatuck, Michigan

After detecting in a nearby lake all day I arrived home to set down for dinner and got a call from Andy K. saying his wife Jessica lost her 3 rings. One ring was from her grandmother and the other 2 was her engagement and wedding ring. They have been married for one month and are from Cincinnati, Ohio attending a wedding in Saugatuck. They took the trolley from the hotel to the beach and when they got to the beach they put their towels and a handbag in a spot on the beach and Jessica placed her rings in the pocket of the swim suit cover she was wearing and placed the cover in the handbag. When they got ready to leave Jessica pulled the cover out of the handbag forgetting she put the rings in the pocket, they grab the trolley back to the hotel and discovered the rings were missing. They hustled back to the beach and ask the ranger if they knew anyone who could help them find Jessica’s rings. I left my card with the ranger and they have called on me over the years. Andy called me and I told him I could be there in 45 minutes.                                   After showing up at the beach I proceeded to do a grid search of the area they were in earlier. I searched a 20 foot grid North and South finding a penny which I handed my scoop to Jessica and she took the penny, I went another 20 feet the other way and got a quarter and handed my scoop to Jessica and she took out the quarter. After several passes with no success I went up and down the path where they entered the beach with no success. I then took an East and West grid search of the same area and after 4 passes I got a faint signal with my Fisher F75 and scooped up a ring with a blue stone. I again handed the scoop to Jessica and she thought it was another penny, when she looked into the scoop she fell to her knees crying “that’s my grandmothers ring”. I then took another scoop and showed it to her and she continued crying “that’s my engagement ring” and then the next scoop was her wedding ring. Jessica could not control herself thanking me and Andy stood there amazed too. This was the end to a very nice day at the beach and a trip to Pure Michigan.                    BTW Jessica, I never did give my $.26 back that I found.

Beautiful 1K Diamond Engagement Ring Lost in North Myrtle Beach, Found and Returned

I received an email, and then a follow up phone call, from Kim saying she had lost her engagement ring and asking for help in finding it. She said she lost it around 1pm that afternoon. Looking at the tide tables, the next low tide would be at 1:30am the next morning. I got the resort address and told her I’d be right over so I could get an idea of what my search area needed to be. After seeing what I was up against, I told her I’d be back at 1am.

The search area wasn’t all that big, so when I got back at 1am, I started a perpendicular search going from the wet sand to the water line. I kept expanding my search area both north and south and wasn’t getting many targets, and definitely no ring. Kim and her husband came out to the beach around 2am and I confirmed the search area. I decided to change tactics and started a parallel grid line with the beach and still nothing. Finally around 3am, I called it a night. I had a big family reunion starting later that day, so I knew I wouldn’t be able to make it back out at the next low tide. I told Kim that I was going to contact both Matt Fry, TRF Myrtle Beach, and Jim Brouwer and see if one or both could cover for me. Around 8:30am I got a call from Jim saying he was available to search. Shortly after we hung up, Matt called and said he wouldn’t be able to help. I contacted Kim and told her Jim would be there to search and he’d be calling her shortly.

Sometime around 2pm Jim called saying he’d found her ring. I must have walked right over the ring, missing it. That happens sometimes, but thankfully Jim backed me up and Kim’s ring made it back to where it was suppose to be.

LOST WEDDING RING AT SANTA FE DAM IN IRWINDALE CA FOUND AND RETURNED.

It was only 95 degrees out last Sunday afternoon, so I thought I would go swing the metal detector in the lake at the local swimming area .I hunted for a couple of  hours with not much luck  others than a few coins, some bottle caps and some fishing hooks . About ten  minutes before closing time at 6:00 pm  a sad young lady  named Kim came to me to see if I could help find her husband’s wedding band . I searched for a few minutes in one area before her husband Anthony came out into the water about waist deep and told me he lost his ring around chest deep. Well, I am a bit shorter than him so I was out just under my nose , after about five minutes and just when they were closing, I heard a loud signal . I knew I found it but retrieving it took a few scoops with my nose under the water but there it was . When I walked it over to Anthony and his wife they were very suprised , relieved and very grateful. The day ended well with returning a wedding ring to such as a nice couple.

The Swingers Club!

Got your attention? Rhetorically, what thoughts come to mind when you think about a swingers club? 🙂

Well don’t get too excited…. because this pictured, pretty, young lady and her friends were making a scene of their own yesterday after work.
Taking advantage of the mid 90’s temps in the Detroit area they decided to visit a favorite spot to cool off, complete with a rope swing hanging from a sturdy tree. When I got there today it totally reminded me of the old swimming holes with the tires hanging off a spindly rope that as a kid I would love to sneak off to. Add to that a docked pontoon boat and as I searched, the scent of a charcoal grill with burgers and hotdogs cooking drifting across the water was the true smells of summer that made me realize how short the summer season is.
She recalled swinging out a few times and on the last swing she noticed hers rings were gone! I grid searched the area and looking down in the clear water I saw the shape of a ring on the sandy bottom just barely under the surface. As my coil went over the shape it sang out scoop me! Pulling up the scoop filled with sand and swishing it in the water revealed these 2 beautiful white gold rings! I held them up to her and from the shore I swear she walked on water to get to them! She and her friends were totally thrilled and asked me to join the club, and without hesitation I did and have never felt so ….. COOL !!

White Gold Engagement Ring and Anniversary Ring Lost at Ocean Isle Beach, NC – both Found and returned

When I checked my email first thing this morning, I saw mail from Debbie saying she had lost her rings at Ocean Isle Beach, NC and was wondering if I could help. She had put her phone number in the email so I called her to get the details. She said that she had been in the soft sand, took her rings off and put them on top of a cooler. At some point someone lifted the lid on the cooler and the rings fell into the sand and disappeared. I was so excited these were lost in the soft sand, and not chest deep in the ocean.  I told her it’d be a piece a cake and I’d be there in 35-40 minutes.

I met her on the beach and she gave me an area she thought she had lost her 2 rings. One was her engagement ring and the other was an anniversary ring. I drew a line in the sand with my scoop, and started a grid search. On the third row I hit a high signal, which wasn’t what I was looking for for a white gold ring. I dug a scoop and spread the sand out with my foot, when I did I was then getting two separate signals, one the low sound I was looking for. I took a scoop of sand, lightly shook it out of the scoop and saw her engagement ring. I showed her her ring and she flew out of her beach chair with a giant smile on her face. I got a quick hug and went back to get the second ring. I spread out the sand again, this time with my hand and saw her anniversary ring. She now has both rings back and couldn’t be happier, she was sure they were gone for good.

Two Lost Ring Calls While On Vacation, both Found and Returned

It seems to never fail that as soon as I leave town, the lost ring calls start coming in. These calls were no different. I was in Connecticut when I received a call from Nancy stating her son, Michael had lost his Tungsten wedding band in the soft sand at Holden Beach, NC. I advised her that I was out of town, but I had a couple of people that I could contact who could help. I tried contacting my son-in-law, Donnie and couldn’t get a hold of him. I then tried contacting a good friend, Jim Brouwer and he wasn’t answering his phone either. Both of these guys have helped me in the past, so I was confident they’d help, if I could only get a hold of one of them.

In the process of trying to get a hold of one of these guys, I got another call from Peggy. She said her daughter, Vanessa had lost her White Gold Engagement ring in the soft sand in North Myrtle Beach, SC and wanted to know if I could help. I told her the same thing I told Nancy, and that I’d get back to her.

Donnie called me back and I let him know what was going on, as well as gave him the contact information for both Nancy and Peggy. Within about 30 minutes, I got a text from Donnie that he had found Vanessa’s engagement ring and was on his way to Holden Beach, about an hour drive. It was about an hour and a half later that Donnie text me again saying he had found Michael’s ring. It was a great day all the way around.

Donnie, thanks so much for covering for me, I really appreciate it. You made two people very happy!

Necklace Nuggett Pendant Found Near Stowe

Got a call 4 days ago from a woman who had lost a petite gold nuggett pendant off her necklace. This nuggett necklace was special to her because several years ago her parents had bought it for her while on vacation in Alaska.

She had been outside with friends next to a pondside campfire enjoying the Summer evening when she realized her necklace had broken and the nuggett was missing. She and her friends had searched pretty hard with no luck. So she arranged permission from the landowner for me to come do a search.

With thunderstorms around, we decided to try a search anyway in between downpours. I brought my prospecting detector because a nuggett that is small and irregular shaped would be a difficult target for most detectors. It’s for sure that most rental detectors would never have picked it up, so I was glad for her that she hadn’t wasted time with one.

I got started, found a couple junk targets and then about 20 minutes into the search I got what sounded like an aluminum foil signal, the number readings were all over the place. I decided to check it anyway. I parted the grass and there it was, where noone would have found it by eye. I think it may have even been pushed in a bit by someones feet. I passed it to her and she cheered and gave me a big hug!

Wedding band recovered at Rosy Mound, Lake Michigan

After traveling through Europe on their honeymoon and enjoying the married life, Steve J. never lost or misplaced his white gold wedding band. This past weekend Steve and his wife Kristi decided to take a weekend drive to the West side of the state from Lansing and swim in the Great Lake of Michigan at Rosy Mound. Somewhere between the beach, water and coming home Steve discovered his ring was missing while washing his hands when he got home. Steve immediately went on line and found The Ring Finders (Tom Townsend). Tom was not available so he referred me to them. After getting their story I told them I would go out the first thing in the morning to search. Steve had pinned the area on Google Maps and sent it to me.

I got out to the park at 6:30 am and immediately packed up for the 3/4 mile trek up and down 500+ steps to the beach. At the time I didn’t know whether his ring was lost in the water, the sand or in his car driving back home. The pin he made for me showed they were swimming, between the last 2 buoys to the South so I started a grid search from shore to the end of the last buoy up to my chest with several passes and only finding a crusty Quarter and a dime. I decided to change my grid from E and W to N and S. The area was at least half a football area. On my last N/S grid I got a hit and there it was. SWEET!

I took some pictures of the ring and the area and text Steve and said “is this your ring?”

Kristi said a little prayer last night that I would find the ring and before all my ring searches I say a prayer: “Lord, guide my eyes and ears, my hands and feet, guide them to the ring I seek, Amen” I’m sure someone was looking over my shoulder and guiding me to that small piece of gold in a very large body of water.

Titanium Gents Wedding Ring, Lost & Found In The Sea At Sandbanks Beach

Chris, Wife and family were playing catch in the sea one warm evening in June. Returning to his towell Chris noted his Titanium engraved wedding ring was missing. They had been married many years and enjoyed a fairy tale marriage going back to when they first met as children in Hong Kong, losing contact and then finding each other some 20 years later!  They search the sand and sea desparately for hours until finally succombing to their loss.

Fortunately for them they thought to search the Ring Finders and found me. I came over that very afternoon & after a fruitlesshour search of the sand it was time to hit the water. The sand around sandbanks is extremly soft & I feared it may have well sunk out of reach but nevertheless I thought id take it slowly & carefully.

After only 5 minutes in waist deep water a signal faintly beeped… a little digging.. stronger it became… several scoops… until there it was. Chris & family were very relieved to have the ring back & I was equally as pleased for them. They visited Margret Green Animal Sanctuary with their children & kindly made a donation.
