Lost Diamond Ring in Heathrow, Florida…..Found!!

While visiting some friends on the 4th of July 2013, Jim and Molly were enjoying a lively game of volleyball in the pool when Molly realized her diamond engagement ring was not on her finger.  For the next hour they searched frantically for the ring without success.  As the light faded into night so did their hopes of finding her precious ring.  That evening Jim was looking on his computer for information on finding lost rings and came across theringfinders web site.  The next day Jim called me and we set up a time to meet and do a thorough search of the pool and surrounding area.  I set up my Whites DFX metal detector and started searching the small grassy areas and around the many bushes and shrubs.   After an hour or so I was beginning to think that it possibly flew over the fence and landed in the neighbors yard.   I was finishing up along the wooden fence behind some rose bushes when I caught a glimpse of gold and sure enough there it was.  Peeking up through the leaves at the base of the fence–a good 30 feet from where Molly was in the pool–was her beautiful ring, just waiting to be found!  What a thrill and pleasure it was to serve you and help make your best 5th of July ever!!

Lost Wedding Ring in South St. Augustine intercoastal waters….Found!

DSCF2202DSCF2199Monday morning I received a call from Andrew who asked me if I could help him find his wedding ring.  Apparently while digging for shells in the shallows of the intercoastal water way he realized his ring was no longer on his finger where it had been for the last 5 years!  Andrew purchased  a new metal detector and spent a fair amount of time looking for his ring but only found a few sinkers and soda cans.  So he began searching on the computer  for information on how to find a lost ring and he came across www.theringfinders.com !

I agreed to meet Andrew Monday evening at 5 o’clock and as we talked and looked the area over I felt fairly confident his ring could be found.  I spent the next two and a half hours grid searching in the water and came up with a handful of lead sinkers and an assortment of coins and junk.  Then I got a great signal and there in my scoop was a nice hefty man’s gold ring!  I hollered to Andrew and held the ring up in the air for him to see.  I was sort of surprised to see a perplexed look on his face and as he came closer he said, “That’s not my ring.”  As the sun went down I ended my search and reassured Andrew that I would be back later on in the week to look again.

The following Friday I returned and this time I arrived two hours before low tide and set up 4 PVC poles in the shallow water slightly overlapping the area I had previously searched.  I was prepared to search until dark if needed and as I turned on my Dual Field and waded into the water the very first signal turned out to be another gold wedding band!  Only this was Andrew’s ring and as soon as he saw it he said, “That’s it!!”

Lost Gold Ring in Daytona Beach surf….Found!

Last week I made plans to do some beach detecting and decided to search an area of Daytona Beach that had a couple of high end Hotels.  Lots of people vacation here this time of year and I figured there had to be some treasures lost in the surf and sand just waiting for me to dig up.  I arrived two hours before low tide and spent a total of 6 hours swinging my Whites Dual Field metal detector in and out of the water hoping for a few good finds.  I found a few coins , a couple of junk ear rings, loads of hair pins and even a small medallion off of someone’s necklace.  Then about 4 and a half hours into my search I got a really sweet signal and out pops a nice gold ring!  I had to wait till I got back to my van to read what was engraved inside.  The name Mariam and a date of 03.05.2003.  When I got home I showed my family the nice gold ring that I found and I figured it would be another nice addition to my collection of rings…but it was not to be.

Later that evening I sat down at my computer to check my e-mails and look up the markings on the inside of the ring.  The markings turned out to be Egyptian and told me the ring was 18 carat gold.  Next I checked my e-mail and there was a message thru theringfinders.com from a lady who said the following:  “Hi Mike,  I found your info online.  My husband, Amgad, lost his wedding band in the ocean in Daytona Beach in front of the Hilton resort last Saturday.  We tried hard to find it with no hope.  My husband has had his ring for 11 years and it slipped off his finger in a second while surfing with our son.  Please, if you can help us find it we would really appreciate it.  We live in Missouri, about 15 hours away and we had to go back home last Sunday, but we still have hope and faith that everything is possible.  Please we  need your help, you don’t know how sad my husband is since he lost his ring!   Thanks, MARIAM

I could hardly believe what had just happened!  Could I have actually found the ring they had lost before getting the request to look for it?  There really was no doubt!!  The name Mariam— plus the fact that Amgad had worn his ring for 11 years and the date of 03.05.2003 was proof enough!

After sharing my MIRACLE with Mariam she wrote me back saying:  “Oh my GOD, I thought you ignored my e-mail.  It is a Miracle!  My hands are shaking while I write to you.  There are no words I can say to thank you enough.  You are the angel that God sent to find our ring.  You would not believe how this past week was for my husband.  I will tell everyone I know about theringfinders.com.”

Two days later Mariam wrote:  “I still cannot believe what happened!  I read your e-mail 10 times a day and tell myself God is so good!  What you do as a hobby (metal detecting) is really a very helpful thing.  Especially when people like us lose a very valuable thing – that losing it really touches their hearts and finding it by an angel like you touches their hearts even more!  As I said and I will be saying for the rest of my life, thank God and thank you for being God’s messenger that found our missing wedding band and delivered  the GREAT NEWS to us when we so badly needed it!!”

Diamond Wedding ring lost in Sanford, Florida yard…..Found!!

Last summer Mandi was doing some painting in her house when she noticed she had gotten paint all over her wedding and engagement rings.  She removed her rings and took them outside to the garden hose along side of the house to wash the paint off.  After turning the hose on she opened her hand and realized she was missing her diamond ring!  She quickly retraced her steps back to the front of the house and soon figured out that her ring was probably lost in the thick Florida crab grass and it would take hours to find!  She called a friend who had an older model metal detector and he looked the area over but could not find the ring.  A few days later the friend contacted me and asked if I would do a quick search—and that is exactly what it was! QUICK!!    In less than a minute my Whites DFX metal detector gave a clear ring reading and there hiding in the grass was Mandi’s beautiful diamond ring!!

Lost Wedding Ring in Daytona Beach, Florida surf…Found!!

Monday afternoon I received a call from Joe asking if I could possibly help him find his ring.  On Saturday he and his new bride of only 8 days, were swimming in the ocean when he felt his wedding ring slip off his finger and into the churning water!   He tried looking for his ring but the waves and surf were not co-operating and he soon gave up hope.  Two days later he found the ringfinders.com and gave me a call.  After hearing the details of how he lost it and the time of day I assured Joe that the chances of finding his ring were very good!

About an hour into the grid search my Dual Field detector gave off a nice clear signal and out popped Joe’s ring!  Joe was super thrilled to have his ring back and I was thanking God for another exciting and successful ring search!

Lost Wedding Ring in Florida Lake….Found!

Matt and his buddies made plans one Saturday to play some volleyball out in the middle of a small Orlando lake.  It was a hot day so the water felt cool and relaxing.  Unfortunately too relaxing as the combination of the cool water and activity made Matt’s wedding ring slide right off his finger and into the sandy bottom of the lake.  Matt and his friends spent the next few hours running their fingers through the murky sand trying desperately to find his ring!  Two days later Matt called me and we agreed on a time to meet and conduct a thorough search.

This search required the use of a canoe and kayak plus 4 pvc poles to mark the area in the 4 foot deep water.  Matt had to guess where the net would have been located as they used only temporary poles put in just for the day.  As I grid searched inside the 4 poles Matt maned the sifter.   I would dig each signal and dump the contents into the floating sifter and Matt would locate the target.  We found lots of junk in the soft sandy mud and after an hour of digging and sifting I heard Matt yell—“Here it is!!!!”

It is always a huge thrill to see the glint of gold in one’s scoop or sifter and this time it was extra exciting especially for Matt as he took part in the actual search and find!

Thanks Matt for your help in the search and I am so glad we were able to find your wedding ring.

Lost Wedding Ring in Daytona Beach Surf….Found!

Late one evening I received an e-mail from Marc asking if I could find his lost wedding ring in the surf at Daytona Beach.  Earlier that day Marc and his family were enjoying the waves when he realized his wedding ring was missing.  He spent an hour or so looking in the sandy surf when he realized it would be next to impossible to actually find it without the use of a metal detector.  Unfortunatly they were to leave very early the next morning for Toronto, Canada and that’s what led him to theringfinders.com.  Thankfully Marc was able to give me excellent directions and a very precise idea as to where he lost the ring.  It took 2 visits to the beach and a total of 7 hours, but miracles do still happen!  The following week I was able to send the ring by UPS and Marc was reunited with his lost wedding band.

I just love it when people’s stories have a happy ending and when vacations are not dampened by the loss of something so special!

Lost watch, Winter Springs, Orlando, Florida…..Found!

I received a call from Kathy asking if I could help find her lost watch!!  She explained how she and her husband had taken a walk and half way through their walk her watch was feeling a bit heavy and was clinging to her wrist, so she removed the watch and was carrying it in her hand.  Upon returning to their home the dog bolted from the house and the frantic chase began!   Her husband threw her the leash and as she tried to catch it with her left hand-she missed it and the leash landed in the St. Augustine grass.  (Northerners call it crab grass!)  Kathy was not sure if she dropped the watch at this point or if she dropped it across the street in the neighbors yard as she ran after the dog and was trying to put the leash on the frisky canine!  After realizing her watch was missing both she and her husband retraced their steps.  They walked and searched the grass and along the sidewalks but could not find her special watch.  This was not just any watch–it was a gift given to her by her loving husband when she retired and it had special meaning!

So I met up with Kathy and she showed me the areas where she thought the watch was lost.  I set up flags to mark off the places she walked through the yard, where she picked up the leash and where she went into the neighbors yard.  I combed the grass looking for the slightest glint of gold and listening for a good strong signal.  My metal detector was getting allot of interference from underground lines and I had to switch to prospecting mode on my DFX to get it to quiet down.  The neighbors grass was not as thick and I wondered how a watch could hide so well.  Kathy was looking a bit sad as I was finishing up the search.  I had circled the yard and was working my way to the center area when my eye caught a shinny glint of gold!  Could it be?  I motioned for Kathy to come over to where I had stopped, and she said, “What is it?”  I said I want you to be the one to pick it up and you should have seen the look on her face!!!   What an amazing feeling of relief and joy and thankfulness!

Thrown Wedding Ring Lost and Found, Flagler Beach, Florida

I received a call from Ken asking me if I could help him find his lost ring. I asked Ken the usual questions, “When did you loose your ring? and What were you doing when you lost it?”  Ken seemed a bit embarrassed about the exact details and finally said that he had actually thrown the ring out the balcony sliding door!  I assured Ken that these things do happen and the most important thing now was to find his missing ring.

Later that same day I met Ken at his home and he showed me the area where the ring was thrown.  After a 20 minute search, the ring was found along the edge of the neighbors sidewalk hiding under a few blades of grass.

Lost Wedding Ring…Daytona Beach, Florida…FOUND!

One afternoon in beautiful Daytona Beach Kevin was enjoying a fun game of disc golf at a local park. Mid-game he realized that his wedding ring was missing! Earlier that day he remembered having to wade into a small pond to look for his disc and thinking at the time that his ring felt a bit loose. He returned to the pond and looked for some time for his ring but soon realized with all the mud and the murky water it would be next to impossible to find. Later that evening as Kevin was searching online for a way to find his ring he came across theringfinders.com. After reading some of the stories and information he found my name in the directory. That evening he sent me an e-mail describing his situation and asked me if I could help him out. I immediately sent him back a response and we set up a time to meet at the park the next day.
I took my Tiger Shark water detector and my Whites DFX to search both water and land at the site. After meeting Kevin and listening to his story he showed me the area in which he was sure the ring was lost. I choose the TS and into the cool murky water I stepped. The bottom of the pond was very muddy and was full of long grass like plants. I first tried clearing out the exact spot where Kevin said he was searching for his disc. There were the usual junk targets like nails and a few coins and even a section of an old fishing pole. I had a medium sized long handled sand scoop that worked well for digging in the mud and after an hour of no luck I finally came up with the ring in the bottom of the scoop and you should have seen the look on Kevin’s face! Surprise, shock, joy and the look of “I can’t believe you actually found it!!” A look which quickly turned to “Oh Yea! You really did find it!!”
It has been my honor and privilege to once again help a person in need and I am so glad for Kevin and his little family that their happy story continues and the ring has been returned to it’s rightful place!
