Lost Men’s White Gold Wedding Ring – Nags Head – Outer Banks, NC – Found

While I was on the beach looking for a ring that was lost last week, a lady named Katie approached me and told me that her party had lost a ring on the beach earlier in the day.  She showed me an area about 20ft square that she thought her brother-in-law Will had lost the ring.  I covered the area pretty quickly and thoroughly but only found a few bottle caps.  I then asked her if there were any other areas she could think of.

She walked over to an area and asked me if I could make a diagonal from there to a sand mound on the beach.  I put my Equinox 800 to quick work starting at the sand mound.  I got a hit that was strong, but a number that is not normally associated with a ring.  I dug it anyway.

I saw the ring and picked it up with my closed hand.  Sidney, Will’s wife, asked me did you find it.  I said, “could you describe it?”  She described the ring and I handed it to her.  Both Sidney and Katie were overjoyed.   The EQ800

Lost Women’s Diamond White Gold Wedding Ring – Nags Head – Outer Banks, NC – Found

Got a call from Brooks who said that he and his wife were visiting from western NC.  While she was on the beach he said that she was doing something and felt her ring flick off of her hand.  They looked and looked…even sifting the sand with a colander to try to find the ring.  No luck.

I told Brooks that I would be right over and loaded the Equinox 800 in the truck.  It took me a while to get down to Nags Head but once I did, I met Brooks at the access point and he filled me in on the details.

I fired up the Minelab machine and went to work.  Almost immediately I got a good 9 to ring up but it was deeper that I expected the ring to be…so I continued on the sweep for a while.  Getting no other hits, I returned to the 9 and dug around in the sand with my hands.  Low and behold a ring popped out.

I asked Brooks if that was it.  Yes, Yes it was, and what a beautiful ring.  His wife met us at the access parking lot and they were both overjoyed.  I love getting rings back to their owners.

Lost Men’s Tantalum Wedding Band- Duck– Outer Banks, NC – Found

I received a call from Brian early this morning.  I was doing my sunrise walk on the beach, which I do every day.  Brian informed me that he had lost his tantalum wedding ring.  I told him that it would take me about 30 minutes to make it up to Duck.

When I arrived I met Brian.  He told me that he had only gotten married 4 days ago!!  I told him that it’s never a good thing to lose a wedding ring but even worse when it’s in the first week.  I told him that I would do my best.

We headed for the beach and as we crossed the walk-over his wife Sophie was setting on a bench.  When I got down to the sand he indicated what he was doing and where he thought he might have lost the ring.

I fired up the Equinox 800 and on my second sweep…beep.  The detector rang up a solid 20.  I scooped up the ring and gave it to Brian.

What a wonderful couple.  I’m so glad to be able to return the ring to it’s owner!!

Lost Men’s Gold Wedding Band- Corolla – Outer Banks, NC – Found

I received a call from a gentleman this afternoon.  He said that he had lost his gold wedding band on the beach at Corolla. He was concerned that the tide was coming in.  I got some basic information and headed that way.  When I arrived I asked him if he thought it was in the water.  He replied yes.  So I got my waterproof headphones and we headed down to the beach with my Equinox 800.

As I passed the back deck several people started cheering.  I replied, “not yet!”  He got me lined up on where he thought he lost it and I ask him how far he thought the tide had come in.  He said he though it would be 15 to 15 yards in the water.  I started the search.

I hadn’t gone far…maybe a few feet…the sand was barely wet and I got a hit.  It was a strong signal but by his description of where he thought it was, this couldn’t be it.  I dug it anyway and took it up to the dry sand.  Low and behold a gold ring appeared.  We made sure it was the right ring and when I was going passed the deck the people began to cheer again…

I took a bow. 🙂

Lost Family Heirloom Gold Ring- Jockey’s Ridge State Park – Nags Head – Outer Banks, NC – Found

I got a call from a young lady Wednesday evening.  She said that she had lost her gold ring, which was a family heirloom, handed down to her from her grandma.  She was devastated because she had worn it swimming at Jockey’s Ridge State Park in Nag’s Head, NC.

I explained to her that metal detecting is not allowed in NC State Parks.  I advised her to call Jockey’s Ridge and explain the situation.  She called me a few minutes later saying that the Park Ranger Manager would allow it provided that I turn in any other items found during the search and that we could look the next morning.

I met her at the gate when it opened the next morning.  She took me down the path that they had taken to the beach and I first checked all the dry sand in the area that they set up.  No luck.  I began a grid search in the water that spanned about 50 yards…going deeper and deeper.

I found a few items that we not the target item (which I turned in at the Ranger station on the way out) and then on the 3rd pass…It rang up on the Minelab Equinox 800!!!

I got a call from a Shawn today.  He had lost his white gold wedding ring on the beach in Nag’s Head in the Outer Banks of North Carolina.  I asked Shawn the normal questions about if he knew where and was it in the water.

He said that he had been throwing a football and felt it slip off.  Shawn had done his due diligence and had marked of the area that he thought he had lost it.

When I arrived, I headed to the beach and met Shawn.  He had markers set up delineating the borders of the area to search.  I got the Minelab Equinox 800 running and within a minute heard a good signal.  I reached over and dug in the sand and boom.

Shawn told me that his anniversary was later in the week and this made him so happy!

Lost Men’s Gold Wedding Ring – Corolla Beach – Outer Banks, NC – Found

Chris called me and let me know that he had lost his ring in the surf.  I explained to him that when something is lost in the water the chance of finding it is not the best but I would come and see what I could do.

I arrived and he took me down the spot on the beach where he though he lost his ring.  He indicated that he had been tossing a football and felt it slip off.  He said that he had not gone far left or right from where his cabana and chair were and was not very deep.

I began the search in the shallow water working my way about 10 yards north and south of where he told me he was.  I worked my way deeper and deeper until I thought it could not have gone this far.  So I started over.  I started where the sand was just wet and expanded about 20 yard north BING.

Almost immediately my Minelab Equinox 800 sang it’s song.  I dug a small amount of sand and the ring was sticking out.  Chris and his wife were watching as I held up the ring!!!  He sprung up out of his chair and confirmed his lost ring.

Tomorrow is their 22nd Anniversary.   Happy Anniversary!!!

Lost Lady’s Class Ring – Kill Devil Hills – Outer Banks, NC – Found

On Friday the 10th I got a call from a young lady who had lost her 2020 class ring in the sand.  She was nearby in Kill Devils Hills so I told her that I could be there in about 15 minutes.

When I arrived, I met her at the beach access and she said that her parents were waiting on the beach.  When I arrived mom and dad said that they had just recently purchased the ring for their daughter.  It was brand new!

The dad had circled an area about 12 feet in diameter…so I began.  On second swipe I got a good hit on my Minelab Equinox 800.  I said, “It can’t be that easy, can it?”  I reached down and picked up and handful of sand that contained the ring.

Mom was thrilled and dad shook may hand (even though we aren’t supposed to do that anymore). They were both thrilled as was the young lady.

I received a call from a gentleman who had found my name on theringfinders.com.  He said that he had lost his white gold wedding band when he stood up with it in his lap on Nags Head beach.  He said that he knew exactly where he had lost it.

When I arrive Mike took me to the beach as showed me an area where his chairs and canopy was.  He was sure that the ring had dropped ring there.  I took my MineLab Equinox 800 over the area a few times and got no hits.  This area of the beach was very clean!

I expanded the search area to include the sides and fronts of the chair/canopy area…still no targets.  His friend’s area was just north of his area so I did a quick search and got an immediate hit!!

I reached down and got the ring and Mike said, “Look at you!  I don’t know how it could have gotten there, but I am so happy!”

Lost Men’s Wedding Ring – Kill Devil Hills – Outer Banks, NC – Found

Today while I was on the beach a gentleman approached me about finding a lost wedding ring in the sand in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina.  We took a short walk north of were I was metal detecting and he showed me were he and his wife were on the beach.  He had dropped the ring while taking it off and it disappeared in the sand.   He and his wife had mapped out a spot where they thought it dropped.  This made the search very easy for me.  After a few seconds my Minelab Equinox 800 rang up the men’s platinum ring.

I reached down in the sand, picked up the ring and handed it to Henry.  His wife said, “I can’t tell you how relieved this makes me.  This is just wonderful!”
