Metal Detecting for a lost Diamond Earring/White Rock/Cresent Beach/BC

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

Today I had a search for a lost diamond earring that was pulled off the ladies ear by her puppy… The lady and her husband took the puppy to the vet to have it ex-rayed to make sure the dog didn’t swallow it.

The ex-rays didn’t show that the puppy swallowed the earring so they searched the area of the garden that they believed it was lost in, but found nothing.

I have to say that earrings are very difficult to locate due to the fact that there is very little gold on the post that holds in the diamonds. That being said I love a challenge, and this earring was bigger then most so I knew I’d get a good signal. This search was closing in on 2 hours and the search area was small but a few plants and shrubs made it difficult.

I was ready to grid search the rest of the backyard because I didn’t find it where we thought it would be, but for some reason I went back to the spot that I’d been searching(with my hands in the shrubs) and this time I received a faint signal and as I started to move some lose dirt out popped the earring.

The earrings were a 10 year anniversary gift and as you can see in the picture above…It made her day that it was found!

Metal Detecting…Golden Garden/Delta BC

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

This weekend I had a search for a mans white gold wedding band that was lost while gardening earlier in the week. When I arrived at the location I was greeted by a young man named Wes.

We talked about the search area and we decided to start at the back where he had 6 or 8 bags of yard trimmings that were waiting for me to search.

This was a good place to start as the first bag gave me a good solid signal that read ring on my visual display of my detector. We dumped half the bag and the signal was now close to the top of what was left in the bag.

Poking my had around in the bag we both saw the ring at the same time, it was a very fast recovery! Makes up for the searches that take hours…

Metal detecting…Found white gold wedding band on a beach in Vancouver

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

Well the summer is almost here and we had a nice sunny day, it must have been close to 70 degrees.

I received a call from a man by the name of Richard and he told me that he lost his white gold wedding band at the beach (Spanish Banks) in Vancouver.

He told me that he felt the ring come off his finger when he was throwing a football, he marked the area that he was standing in and then searched the internet on his phone for someone to help find his ring.

I think he said he typed in ”ring finders” in Vancouver and I came up a few times, so he called, and I came out to find the ring.

When I got there I was greeted by a friend of Richard’s and he walked me over to where they were sitting on the beach.

I met Richard and he showed me the area and it only took me a little over 30 seconds to find the ring.

I started where he was standing and throwing the football and on my second line of my grid search and my first good signal…I found his ring.

I love my job!

Metal detecting for a gold cat ring/Lost in North Vancouver

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

Just the other day I get a call from a lady that was desperate to find her gold ring that was lost while gardening at her daughters place.

When I showed up she showed me the area that the ring was lost in and told me that the ring was gold and shaped like a cat.

She bought the ring in Mexico and it was a one of a kind ring that she loved very much. We walked around the yard and when I saw the area I knew it wouldn’t take long to find the ring.

It only took minutes to search the small garden area on the side of the house and when I didn’t find it she was surprised!

I then searched four bags of yard trimmings that she bagged and it wasn’t in there, I went back to the garden area and expanded my search onto the grass and minutes later I found her golden cat.

The smile shows you that she was very happy that ”The Cat Came Back”!

Lost…White gold diamond ring/ A gift from her late Grandmother/ Vancouver

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

This ring search was for a young lady who lost the white gold diamond ring that was given to her by her late Grandmother.

While cleaning her balcony she threw a few things down to the ground below to pick up and throw away later. This is when she felt her ring come off and land some where in the grass below.

I listened to her story and it was pretty cut and dry in my mind that the ring would be in the grass close to the items that she threw to the ground.

I started my grid search in this relatively small area of her back yard and after 1 hour and no ring I had to re-think the situation. This should be easy I thought to myself… but why haven’t I found it?

My only thought was that the ring flew over the fence and landed in the neighbors yard, when I suggested we ask her neighbor if we could search her back yard for the ring, she didn’t think it was possible that it ended up there, but she agreed.

After a short time in the neighbors yard the ring was found and the smile was in full view!
“Flick Factor” I believe we never stop learning and life is exciting with the possibilities that await us in every challenge we meet.

Lost diamond ring at Harrison Hot Springs…

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

My son was out camping with a few friends at Harrison Hot Springs and a girl he went to school with lost her diamond engagement ring at the lake.

She tells me that she put the ring on her towel while she was sun tanning and when she woke up from a short sleep, she got up and shook the towel.

My son, the young lady and her fiancé, searched and searched for her ring, then it hit my son! I know someone who can help! He called and explained the situation and I was on my way to find her ring.

When I showed up they put me the area that the ring was lost in and I started to search. After 10 minutes I knew that the ring was to deep due to the fact that they were digging around for hours searching for it.

I cut back the sand and pebbles and after 10 minutes I found her beautiful diamond ring, needless to say her and her fiancé were very happy.

Lost my ring at the park…Vancouver

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

He was enjoying a sunny day with a few friends and throwing a Frisbee, then with one flick of the wrist his wedding band goes flying into the long grass.

After searching for hours with his friends they give up and head for a business meeting, on his way out of the beach area they noticed my flyer at the lifeguard stand.

With nothing to lose he gives me a call, I take the info and get the exact location and head out to search for his ring. When I get there I check the location to make sure its the spot, then I begin my grid search.

After 20 minutes of grid searching I get a good signal and I bend down to search the grass and out pops his gold ring. I call and tell him the good news and we set up a time and place to meet to get his ring back to him.

As I was packing up to leave I noticed the parks board shows up and starts to cut the grass… It was very lucky I got there first and found his ring because if they cut the grass before I got there, the lawnmower could of hit the ring and sent it flying.

Gold Ring lost at Surrey Golf Course…Found!

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

This story begins with a call in regards to a lost ring at a Surrey golf course, the lady tells me that the ring was lost in the pond on the golf course.

She was part of the team building the golf course and on a hot summers day, she decides takes a dip in the pond. When she gets out of the water and starts to dry off she notices that her gold band with a small diamond is missing.

Heart broken, she knows that there’s no way to find the lost ring in the pond. A few days later she sees the story about ”Finders” jewellery recovery service in the local newspaper.

She reads the story and calls to see if I can help her, she tells me that the ring is lost in a pond around 10 feet deep.

I tell her that I’d have to hire a diver as I only work chest deep of water. A friend of my who was a diver and treasure hunter agreed to take a look for the ring.

We all meet at the golf course the next day and as my friend was suiting up to do his dive, I walked to where the lady entered and exited the water and I decided to do a search on the dry sand.

I start to search and she tells me that the ring was lost in the water, I know that I tell her but I want to make sure before my friend gets into the water that its not on dry land. Really I just wanted to metal detect and see if there was anything there, and to our surprise there was…Her diamond ring!

I found her ring in the dry sand around the edge of the pond, my diver wasn’t fully dressed and I held up the ring to show him. We both had a good laugh.
