Wedding Ring Recovered at Kailua Beach
I got a phone call from a couple who had lost their wedding ring in the water at Kailua Beach. I let them know I needed to adjust my schedule, but I would be on my way to help.
After talking it over with my wife and kids, I packed up my gear and headed out with my son. During the 45-minute drive across Oahu, I gathered as much information as possible—exact location in the water, reference points on the beach, and the time the ring had been lost.
When we arrived, I met up with the couple, and they walked me down to the area where they believed the ring had slipped off. With the sun beginning to drop toward the horizon, I knew we were working against time.
I powered on my XP Deus II metal detector, marked out a search grid in the sand, and made my way into the water.
The conditions were challenging. The water was cold, visibility was limited, and the light was fading quickly. I began my search in the deeper section first, methodically sweeping back and forth. After completing my first pass, I turned and overlapped my path, slowly working my way toward shallower water.
Now in waist-to-chest deep water, I suddenly heard it—a strong, clean tone cutting through the background noise.
That unmistakable signal.
I dug into the sand and lifted my scoop.
There it was.
A beautiful wedding band resting inside.
I reached down, picked it up, and turned toward the shoreline where the couple stood watching anxiously. Holding the ring high, I called out, “I found it!”
Their reaction was immediate—they jumped with joy.
People nearby stopped to watch. As I made my way back to shore, holding the ring up high, the couple ran out to meet me. I placed the ring back into their hands, and in that moment, the relief and happiness were overwhelming.
We shared smiles, gratitude, and a big embrace.
As I looked around, I noticed several beachgoers clapping and smiling, caught up in the moment as well.
What started as a stressful situation ended in pure joy—another successful recovery and another memory saved.

My wife and I were working to redirect some water flow from a large rainstorm in our backyard. While doing so, My Wife’s wedding ring slipped off her finger and into the muddy water. After hours and hours of searching we had no luck ( Even with our rented Metal Detector). We reached out to Jeremy and he was out the following day. He found her ring within 20/25 minutes!
