Men’s Wedding Band Missing for 4 Years in the Barn Hay~Caledon, ON

  • from Brampton (Ontario, Canada)

So Farmer Jim & Karen McA knew I was a metal Detectorist and happen to mention that Jim’s Nephew Warren K of Orangeville was working bailing hay in the McArther Farm and lost his beloved wedding band. I was totally down for detecting in an old barn….like finding a freakin’ needle in a haystack full of century old iron nails and other goodies….

WOWZA, what a challenge for my Ring Find #2. Middle of December I went out on 2 occasions and at the 3rd occasions I decided to call Warren to get the deeds from the hay bailer himself. I decided to proceeded up a rickety wood ladder to get up where the hay was drying up top. No one was around until Uncle Jim showed up with a ‘specialty’ tea (hint hint). I called down “give me a few minutes”. Soon after I said that my detector went off BEEP BEEP BEEP…in the 12-13 range….and I was praying that this was it!! Oh boy was I praying to the Detecting Gods!!

I decided to get the iPhone video rolling ….just in case! And WHAM…there was Warren’s 14k platinum wedding band that had been missing for 4 YEARS!!! Uncle Jim couldn’t believe it…he thought I was joking!! I handed down my detecting and down the crazy ladder and showed him the ring. He was so shocked that after 4 years it had been found. I then said….lets surprise him. Here’s the video https://youtu.be/_-ou5RfVg2Y

Aunt Karen & I came up with a crazy idea to wrap the ring in hay….but inside 4 other gifts wrapped inside each other with a note for each opening. So the gift was dropped off at Warren’s Mom Debbie’s home. Karen told her that someone dropped it off at her house to give to Warren and a video was to be taken when he opened the gift at Christmas. Well Christmas came and went without Mom & Son connecting …..

Finally a message was sent in January to get his butt over to his Mom’s home and open a gift (LOL). Sure enough, Warren opened each and every gift till the last won! To his surprise and everyone else’s watching his beloved wedding ring was back home. Apparently he didn’t tell any of the Family that he lost his ring at the farm over 4 years ago….OPSEY!!!

What an awesome but very difficult ring find. Very proud to be given the opportunity in this crazy ‘needle in a haystack’ condition. BUT I TOTALLY LOVED IT!!!

(PS. Thank Goodness for Jim’s specialty tea to warm up a cold lass on this adventure *wink)

Engagement ring left in kitchen and it went MIA~Toronto, Ontario

  • from Brampton (Ontario, Canada)

Received a call from a very upset young lady Sharon (Shenshen) B. in Toronto, Ontario.

She had placed her diamond filled engagement ring on the kitchen counter. She proceeded to do some cleaning, take some garbage out and was very upset she could not locate her engagement ring. She felt it could have fallen in the cracks of her deck outside or in the garbage bag that she took to the garage. She had checked the kitchen….counters…cabinets, garbage, and floor….and no luck.

I started in the grass in the backyard, then underneath the deck. Within 25 minutes I heard a wonderful scream “I FOUND IT”!!!

I dusted off and met her at the back door. She happened to go into the living room just off the kitchen and there it was in the medium shag carpet!! It must have rolled off the counter, along the ceramic floor and ended up on the carpet.

A very happy ending for this bride-to-be and another donation to the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation’s “Royal Distributing Sun Run” motorcycle charity ride in June of 2017!! <3

Lost Gold Eagle pendant playing Volleyball @ Professors Lake~Brampton, ON

  • from Brampton (Ontario, Canada)

Received a phone call from a young man from Malton, Ontario. He was playing volleyball on the weekend with his Friends at the beach volleyball area at Professors Lake Brampton, Ontario when he noticed both his gold plated cross as well las his 14k gold eagle pendant was missing because his large chain was broken. He was heartbroken more the the eagle pendant was missing as is it was a gift from his Aunt.

After obtaining permission from City of Brampton staff to metal detect for the young mans jewellery, I met him there in the early evening. (Lucky I work for COB!!)

I started without him as the skies were getting dark and was worried we would have to leave due to the storm approaching and our personal safety. I started grinding the west beach court….then the east. Within 20 minutes after the young man showed up and advised he was in the south court….we found he precious 14k gold eagle pendant. No luck in finding his small gold plated cross but he didn’t mind.

He was gracious enough to make a donation to the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation Snow Run 2018 Charity via my link!!

  • from Brampton (Ontario, Canada)

Received a phone call late in the afternoon from Jarom & Hannah H of Brampton, Ontario.

I advised that I could pop over to their home in Brampton after work.

I was very happy to receive a message the THE FING WAS FOUND at home….in the laundry basket!!!

Wonderful news!! One very happy wife….and husband 🙂

Sometimes we don’t always find it….because it isn’t there. GREAT ENDING and a very lovely couple and Daughter xo

  • from Brampton (Ontario, Canada)

I have great Friends who notified me that they had sent my ring finder information to a fellow Church member.

Boris T of Mississauga had recently lost weight and decided to participate in a 5km Charity FOAM run at Claireville Conservation Area in Brampton, Ontario.

Met Boris at the location immediately after work. He was AMAZING!! He had spoken to Friends that video taped his participation in the event. They narrowed down the location to the one FOAMED up obstacle. He had is beautiful wedding bank going into, up, over and when he came out…..his precious wedding band was GONE. Boris continued on to finish the race with a very sad heart. His 10th wedding Anniversary was coming up soon…..

I was a bit embarrassed that I had left my Minelab Excalibur2 detector on…the battery was dead. Thank goodness I had a back-up…the newly acquired Garrett AT Pro which I had only played around with. UNDER TWO MINUTES…..I FOUND HIS RING!!! I was amazing…..Boris was overcome with happiness. He was truly so grateful and happy.

Lost silver ring in snow… ‘Miracle on Water St” Guelph, Ontario

  • from Brampton (Ontario, Canada)

Received a phone call inquiring if I can metal detect in snow for a lost ring. Of course I said yes. I was unable to make the time frame and sent a local & newly recruited ring finder member Glenn Boles.

I arrived an hour later and offered my assistance.

The client had just left. With-in 10 minutes of her leaving I located her Friend’s missing silver ring. Glenn & I called and asked if she could come back. She offered to bring coffee’s too.

We recreated the motions of finding her Friend’s lost ring. She was overjoyed and advised she will surprise her Friend Christmas Day. The ring was very sentimental.

Gentlemen’s Wedding Band Lost While Cleaning Up Flower Planters @ Church-Hillsburgh, Ontario

  • from Brampton (Ontario, Canada)

Hillsburgh 02Hillsburgh 01

Had a Facebook message from a great Friend Tracy A from Hillsburgh, Ontario. Ivan G, a fellow member of the Church was cleaning up the flower boxes in the front of the Church. Ivan arrived home to notice his wedding band was missing. This was his replacement wedding band after loosing a diamond filled wedding band at a golf course over 5 years ago.

I arrived the next evening with Tracy. Tracy filled me in on the details. This was a 2′ wide by 20′ to 25′ length flower box. The areas below the flower planter boxes was 2′ by 6′ roughly. This was a job for my GARRETT ‘CARROT’ PIN POINTER. So “grinding’ with the pin pointer was the plan of action!

I decided to do a live recovery video on “Facebook Live”.  We checked the one side below the flower boxes….nothing. Moved over to the other side…I had to remove some of the “Erin Fall Fair” display. The metal chair the (stuffed) gentle was sitting on was in the way. Within 5 minutes I was very happy to find the massive SIZE 15 10k Platinum/Gold ring!! What a WHOOPER OF A RING!! Largest one for me to find!

Hillsburgh 03We went into speak to the Minister. We decided not to keep Ivan in suspense…so Tracy called and left a message that his wedding ring will be waiting for him at Sunday Church.

I had a returned Ivan’s call and offered to help locate the beloved lost Ring #1!! Ivan was very grateful and is very kind in offering a donation to the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Snow Run that I will be riding my snowmobile Feb 2017! This wonderful charity provide financial assistance to patients fighting this terrible disease!! “PAYING IT FORWARD”…rocks!! Here is a link to my “Metal Detecting for Charity” FB page <3 https://www.facebook.com/metaldetectingforcharity/

He said “I never knew there was such an organization of “The Ring Finders”!! I filled him in on the global directory of excellent Detectorists!!

I am looking forward to assisting in finding Ivan’s 1st lost wedding band at a Golf course in the near future!! Stay tuned….

Woman’s Loose Wedding Band Falls Off and Rolls Into Cracks of Patio Bar – Orillia Ontario

  • from Brampton (Ontario, Canada)

img_0117  img_0118

I was tagged in a Facebook post by my fellow motorcycle Chicka Tamara K…that a young lady lost her 10k white gold wedding band at a patio bar close to the port or Orillia, Ontario. Tamara knew of the recent ‘Ring Finder’ recoveries & returns I had posted on my ‘Metal Detecting for Charity’ FB page.

I contacted young Jessica G to get the details. I advised that we would need to obtain permission for the owner/manager of the bar “Studabaker’s” before we go any further. She had trouble getting permission. I suggested going very early on the Holiday Monday before any of the clients show up…so we met and headed over with the waitresses watching in anticipation.

I asked Jessica to look through every slat as the depth below the wooden boards was 1″-2″ which I was scanning with my Excel 2. She spotted her ring and then I devised a Ms. MacGyver move buy inserting a piece of thin metal wire I pulled from the shores of Wasaga Beach the day before. I brought the end in through the ring and up to the deck…then slipped a small brown straw on the open end of the wire back down to the hand in my hand. I slowly raised the wire end up and out of the straw. With both hands on either end of the straw…I pulled Jessica’s 10k white gold ring up and threw the wooden slat!!!

WHAHOOOOOO!! Jessica jumped for joy with some tears in her eyes….and proceeded to give me a squeezie hug!! OMG she was so thankful for retrieving her wedding band. She knew she should no longer wait to have her ring re-sized to fit her finger!!

That was one fun recover & return!! I’ll have to keep some ‘straws’ in my detecting bag of tricks!!

Jessica G also gave a small donation in support of my snowmobile ride for the ‘Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation’. Also, thanks to Studabaker’s in the port of Orillia, Ontario for permission to complete the recovery & return with no bother to customers!!

Cleaning Eavestrough in haste and late Fathers Heirloom Ring goes Flying Off~Rockwood, Ontario

  • from Brampton (Ontario, Canada)
  • Received a phone call at work from Ron from Rockwood, Ontario. A fellow “Ring Finders” member and recommended me because I was close proximity to his location. Ron enquired if I was available to help find his Father’s beloved ring he has worn for 30 years.

I arrived at his beautiful home coming through the most amazing tree covered lengthly driveway. Amen for my 4×4 for some rugged terrain! Ron briefed me that he was high up on his ladder cleaning out the pine needles and debris from his eavestrough while throwing down the debris his beloved Father’s massive ring flew off his finger. He searched for some time with no luck in locating it.

I started detecting from the top of the hill down and around the back of the home. On my way back on my 2nd pass….it was glaring at me between some leaves. Sure couldn’t miss that monster ring!! What a beautiful and very unique ring!! Biggest ring I have ever had the pleasure to recover & return. MASSIVE!!

What a nice Chap. As well, Ron gave a generous donation to my February snowmobile ride in support of the “Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation”…financial assistance for men & woman fighting breast cancer!! “PAYING IT FORWARD” R-O-C-K-S!!

The drive in & out under the trees was spectacular…felt regal almost!

Lost Wedding Band while playing Volleyball~Brampton, Ontario

  • from Brampton (Ontario, Canada)

I received a phone call while nearing the end of my Summer Vacation week when I received a phone call from Himanshu. He was playing volleyball at the private compound of President’s Choice HQ in Brampton, Ontario. They had weekly volleyball matches. One of his team mates had said “you should take your ring off in case you lose it”…..

He was practicing prior to the match and sure enough…he lost it. I arrived a few hours prior to the start of the first match. Started a grid pattern from the serving line. One half of the court completed…no ring. Lots of clad coins and sharp thin copper wire pieces. Started on the other side of the court…3rd pass and BAAM…there was his 21k Platinum wedding band. Very special to him as it was India gold. We managed to capture the recovery on video!

One happy camper!!!

Himanshu was kind enough to make a donation to my charity “Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation” in which I am sledding in my 9th consecutive year raising donations for men & woman fighting breast cancer!! “PAYING IT FORWARD”…awesome, everyone WINS!!
