Lost Gold Icebox Wedding Ring at Honu Lagoon Ko Olina Resort…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began Monday afternoon when I got a call from Marcel who lives on Oahu with his lovely wife Taaliah.  While spending the day playing with his daughter on the beach and in the water at Honu Lagoon at some point his stunning Yellow Gold Icebox Wedding band became lost.  Marcel searched the beach but had no luck finding the ring.  He texted me a video and some pics of the search area and the ring.  I decided that since in the water was a possibility, I had to hunt low tide the next afternoon because Honu Lagoon can be a washing machine.  When I arrived the next afternoon and checked in with Aloha Security at the gate the young lady told me a Diamond Ring was found by a jogger at Honu Lagoon that morning and she had the number for me.  Thankfully they answered the call while in route to the North Shore.  I texted them a pic of Marcel’s ring and they confirmed that was the ring they had found.  They returned to the resort at 6PM and left the ring at the Front Desk at the Beach Villas for me to retrieve.  This morning I was able to return the ring to Marcel.  What a truly wonderful couple that were so gracious to me for the recovery.  Angels certainly played a roll in this recovery.  Aloha to Marcel & Taaliah!

Lost Heirloom Gold Wedding Ring at Aulani Ko Olina Resort…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began yesterday when I returned a call to Amanda who was on vacation from Mount Washington, Los Angeles, California and staying at the Aulani Disney resort.  While her husband Michael was entering the water of the lagoon to play with their children his Heirloom Gold Wedding Ring came off in waist deep water and disappeared.  Since it was getting late and the surf was up I agreed to meet Michael & Amanda the next afternoon at low tide.  When I arrived I couldn’t reach them by phone but with the excellent picture they sent I decided to go down and start the hunt in that area.  It actually happened immediately as I entered the waist deep water I got a nice number “15” on the Nox and in one scoop there was Michael’s ring in the scoop.  As I was walking up to the cabana chairs I spotted Michael and we waved at each other.  When I got to him he was about to describe the location but I said, “I found it already!”  Michael was like, “Wait, what?”  I said I hope its yours I just have to get it off my finger.  Michael looked in disbelief as I handed it to him and said, “That’s exactly the ring!”  We had a friendly conversation some hugs & pictures and I told them to enjoy the rest of their vacation to the fullest.  They texted me later “Our Ring Hero!!!  Thank you Praying hands!  Love this hobby! Aloha to Michael and Amanda!

Lost White Gold Lapis & Turquoise Wedding Ring at Diamond Head Beach…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began Sunday October 23rd when I got a text from Linda from Oregon who was on vacation on Oahu.  While swimming from Black Point to Diamond Head she lost her precious wedding ring at the ocean’s edge.  She had the exact address of the beach access and sent that to me.  As she was coming ashore a wave hit her and the ring came off in waist deep water.  I told her I would do a hunt Monday morning as the tide was the lowest then and the surf was coming down.  I was able to match the location to the map her brother sent me and I commenced the search.  I found a different ring to start the search and a few pieces of can slaw.  About 20 minutes into the search I got a nice tone on the Nox on the shoreline up slope.  After one scoop there was Linda’s beautiful ring in the scoop.  The tide was coming in so I was thrilled to find the ring when I did.  She texted me today that the ring finally arrived safely in the mail.  Aloha to Linda!

Lost 24K Gold Wedding Band at Kuhio Beach Pools Waikiki…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This Ring Find began when I noticed a missed call on my phone from Conor.  When I returned the called Conor told me he was on his Honeymoon from Portland, Oregon and had just lost his 24k Gold Wedding Band in shallow water at Kuhio Beach in Waikiki.  He said he had about a 10 foot radius to search.  I told Conor I’d grab my gear and be there in about 15 minutes if he could meet me at the Kapahulu Pier.  After arriving on the beach Conor’s lovely wife Yumeng joined us and was the depth marker on the seawall while Conor came in the water with me to show me where he thought the ring would be.  I started a grid search slightly East of Conor’s mark just to be sure.  Thankfully this area is so heavily detected the hunt was silent then suddenly a booming hit on the Nox and on the second scoop there was the 24K Gold ring in the scoop.  2 for 2 today and Yumeng and Conor were so gracious I was able to find his ring.  Aloha to Conor & Yumeng!

Lost White Gold & Diamonds Engagement Ring at Hawaiian Princess Hotel Beach Waianae…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This Ring Find began at 5AM this morning when I got a text from Bob who was on vacation from Mayville, Wisconsin.  Bob texted “Lost an Engagement Ring at the Hawaiian Princess in Waianae.  Believe it is lost in the sand in a specific area or path.  I texted, I need a few more details and to call when you are free.  Bob immediately called and was able to text me a photo of the area when the sun came up.  My schedule eased up and I was able to head out during my lunch break.  Bob and his lovely wife Michele met me at the Hotel and escorted me to the beach area.  I started the hunt at the beginning of the path to the area they sat on the beach.  Once there I did a complete grid search with no luck finding the ring.  I could see Michele was starting to get that look of hopelessness when I said we aren’t done yet lets expand out on each side of the sand path as to that point I had only found one Lincoln cent.  I took a few more steps on the East side of the path and got a booming #10 on the Nox.  I took one scoop and there was Michele’s gorgeous ring in the scoop.  I told her, “Got it!”  As she came over to look in the scoop as soon as her ring came into view she burst into tears.  Elapsed hunt time was maybe 10 minutes but it probably seemed like an eternity to her.  Michele said, “You saved our vacation!” Look at those smiles.  Aloha to Michele & Bob!

Lost 152 Diamonds & Gold Cartier Ring at Four Seasons Resort Ko Olina…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

THE FISH THEORY! So back in May 2019 I was asked to recover this stunning Cartier 18K gold diamond saturated ring at the Aulani / Four Seasons lagoon in greater then chest deep water. Story goes husband and wife go lighted paddle boarding at night. Wife’s ring comes off and husband immediately takes note of their location in the lagoon. When I received the first pic which covered a large area to search on scuba (red box) I asked if he could narrow the search area down a bit which becomes the (green box). After at least 4 unsuccessful searches I communicated to them I couldn’t find the ring. Many thoughts went thru my head. Since the ring has 152 diamonds could a swimmer see it glistening in the morning sunlight and dive down and recover it? Every dive in the lagoon there after I wondered what happened to it. I even thought that the sparkling ring during it’s descent to the bottom and in the light of the paddle board was looking like a tasty morsel for a fish. So yesterday morning I had a scuba hunt for some Oakley sunglasses at Aulani. I’m still learning the Deus II so after my buddy Terry adjusted some excessive noise out of the Deus for me I started the scuba hunt. I canvassed the area the sunglasses were supposed to be and found nothing. It’s more of a visual hunt but I’m going to swing a detector while I’m out there. I decided to see what the Deus would do over the coral rubble fields which is in the deeper waters of the lagoon 15 feet. When suddenly I got a booming #85 on the Deus which is 99% of the time a Zinc Lincoln Cent. I fanned the sand / coral and could not believe what came into view. The sparkler in the photo above. I said a few, “Thank you lords” then grabbed the ring and secured it away. I then went to the surface to see my exact location. It was the white dot in the pic. I can’t really explain the disparity in the lost to recovery locations but the “Fish Theory” certainly seems legit. I’ve reached out to the owners but it’s been 3 years and 4 months since the loss. Praying they call back soon. Love this hobby!
Update. The owners got back to me this AM. Working out details for the return. Originally thought my voicemail (which was on their business line) was a telemarketer. A skill I didn’t know I had! As you can imagine after 3 years and 4 months they are over the moon.
The Stunning Ring finally made it home tonight!  Aloha to Tawnia & Troels

Lost White Gold & Diamonds Engagement Ring at Aulani Lagoon Ko Olina Resort…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when I woke up this morning to a text that read, “My name is Consuelo, I lost my Engagement Ring yesterday in the beach in front of Aulani at the shore line.  I was with my daughter and a wave came and I lost my wedding and engagement rings.  I was able to grab my wedding ring but the engagement ring got swept away with the water.  I’m really really hoping you can help me.”  It was 5am so I texted her I would like a picture of the ring and a Google map with the area circled for the hunt.  A short time later we talked on the phone.  I explained the low tide would be at noon so I’d pack my gear and head out right after church.  Aloha Security let me in the out gate to Lagoon 1B when I arrived and I parked closest to the lagoon.  I took the pic Consuelo sent me and decided to hunt North to South along the shoreline.  On the third leg I got a nice #10 on the Nox and in one scoop there was the gorgeous ring in the scoop.  I sent a pic to Consuelo who was ecstatic over the quick recovery.  She was now staying with her family in Waikiki a block from the Honolulu Zoo so we agreed to meet there for the return.  What a lovely family from the Bay Area in California and they were so grateful.  Aloha to Consuelo and her family.

Lost Gold and Diamond Ring at Kuhio Beach Waikiki…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when I got a text from Alberto asking if I was able to help us in Waikiki find a ring?  I was just finishing up work and decided to call and see what the circumstances were.  Alberto on vacation from Santa Monica, California said that while crab walking in the water with his 4 year old Niece his friend Andrew’s Gold & Diamond ring came off in shallow water at Kuhio Beach.  They searched for about four hours with no luck.  I told Andrew I’d head home and grab my detecting gear and be there in about 30 minutes.  When I arrived Andrew & Alberto met me on the beach to show me the area they believed the ring came off.  Alberto helped by being a grid marker out in the water for me.   As I was working shoreward Alberto said he didn’t think the ring would be any closer to the shore and that I should probably extend the search out to the east and deeper.  I hadn’t even found a target yet this beach was sterile.  As I was heading deeper Alberto said maybe just about ten feet more.  After that I turned around and started the inbound leg when I got a booming tone 12-13-14 on the Nox.  I scooped twice but missed the target I was thinking this might be a small piece of can slaw but the target was still in the same spot.  On the third try I had the target in the scoop and “BINGO” it was Andrew’s ring.  I could instantly see the relief on Andrew’s face as I told them I found it.  They both agreed,  The vacation was saved!  Aloha to Andrew & Alberto!

Lost Gold and Silver Wedding Band at Kahala Beach…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when a got a call yesterday evening from Malachy who lives in Kahala on Oahu.  While walking in the water at Kahala Beach with his lovely wife Fenix, Malachy’s Gold and Silver Wedding band slipped off in waist deep water and disappeared.  They tried snorkeling to find the ring but no luck.  We agreed to meet the next morning at beach access 133C which leads you down to the area the ring was lost.  Fenix & Malachy walked me down to the beach and we placed some blankets up in the shore bushes to create a grid.  Since they lived very close by, I told them they could go home and relax and I would call them when the ring was recovered.  This beach is fairly trashy so I had to be very selective on target recoveries.  Being two precious metals combined I wasn’t really sure what numbers to expect on the Nox,  but for sure the ring should be just under the surface and a loud solid tone.  I skipped over several targets until I got a boomer and after two scoops there was a can bottom in my scoop.   Darn!  Thought I had it.  Then on the third leg of the grid in waist deep water I got that awesome tone and in one scoop there was the magnificent Mountains, Moon, Meteor and Waves in Gold ring in my scoop.  I have to say this was one of the coolest rings I’ve ever seen.  I went back to my car and called Malachy to let him know the good news.  After returning the ring Malachy said, “You saved my marriage”!  Something tells me they wouldn’t let this ring loss split up this wonderful couple! Aloha to Fenix & Malachy!

Lost Gold Wedding Band at Kaimana Beach Waikiki…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when I got a call from Chris who was on her 50th Wedding Anniversary celebration at Waikiki Beach when her husband Bob’s Yellow Gold Wedding Band slipped off in waist deep water at Kaimana Beach.  They were leaving the next day for home in Seekonk, Massachusetts.  I told Chris I just got out of the water from a morning hunt but I would gear up again and be there in about 30 minutes.  It was early enough that I wouldn’t have a problem parking near to the beach.  When I arrived Bob & Chris met me on the beach and we proceeded down to the water.  Bob acted as my marker for where he thought the ring came off his finger.  I did a grid parallel to the shore and no joy.  Since I wasn’t exactly sure what the tides were and the ring was lost 2 hours prior to my arrival I decided to go perpendicular to the shore and went out to at least neck deep to be sure.  Again, Bob was my marker.  When I was near the second to last grid line I got a loud #12-13 on the Nox.  I was maybe 10 feet from Bob in waist deep water and it took about 8 scoops to get that target in my scoop.  I was beginning to think it might be a bathing suit rivet when I finally recovered the target and was letting the sand drain from my scoop their appeared a very unique yellow gold ring.  I showed it to Bob and he exclaimed excitedly, “That’s it” and immediately put it on his finger.  He shouted to Chris on the shore he got it and many applauses from the beach goers went up.  I was so relieved to have found this ring that Bob kept reminding me “50 YEARS Joe”  Much Aloha to Chris & Bob and many more!
