1997 Denver Broncos Super Bowl XXXII Championship Ring Lost at Kahala Hotel Beach…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when I got a call from Annabel, from Colorado, who was enjoying a day at the Kahala Hotel Beach when her sister Christianna lost her 1997 Denver Broncos Super Bowl Ring in chest deep water about an hour prior.  I told Annabel that I lived 10 minutes away and would pack up my gear and head over.  Unbeknownst to me the King Tide was at it’s peak high and it was going to cause havoc.  Christianna stood in the water where she lost the ring to be my marker but it was now neck deep and throwing both of us around.  I did what I could but only one target emerged and it kept running away from me.  I searched all the way into shore with no luck.  Annabel, Christianna and I discussed a crack of dawn return the next morning, when my phone app showed an extreme low tide, where I could hunt much more thoroughly.  Annabel had a matching ring, so I had her swing it under my coil for a VDI of 47-49.  When I arrived the next morning the sun was just breaking the horizon and the beach was at the lowest tide I have ever seen there.  Pipes that are usually submerged in three feet of water were exposed.  I drew my grid lines from what Christianna showed me the day before and I entered the water.  Amazingly, it was crystal clear all the way out.  I got to the end of my grid line, placed my marker pole and turned around and headed to shore. Suddenly, in knee deep water I got a scream and a 47 on the VDI.  I looked down and could see the magnificent ring laying in the sand and sunlight.  I bent over picked up the ring and said,  “Thank you Jesus!” I then proceeded to my car to text Annabel, as her number was the only one I had.  After seeing the picture,  she texted, “WOW INCREDIBLE!!!!”  You are good!!!  She added that Christianna would be able to meet me today for the return.  Turns out she was with a relative in Kahala,  four minutes from my home.  After a warm hug and a wonderful smile,  Christianna can now return home with her sentimental ring.  She also told me that today marks 7 years since her dad, Pat Bowlen passed away.  I know he’s looking down with a warm smile too.  Aloha to Christianna and the Bowlen family!

Lost Sentimental Silver Ring at Kahala Beach…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when I got a text from the Kahala Hotel and Resort Concierge asking if I was available for a guest’s lost ring recovery at the beach in the water.  I responded that I was currently on a ring hunt and could be reached in about an hour and to give their guest my contact number.  While driving home from that successful recovery I got a call from Sune who was visiting Oahu from Copenhagen, Denmark.  As he was starting to swim the backstroke his Sentimental  Silver Ring fell off in chest deep water.  He borrowed a mask and snorkel but the water was too murky to see anything.  I told Sune since it was getting late I’d get on the tide chart at my home computer and call him back for the best time to hunt the following morning.  It so happened sunrise at 6:30 would be the beginning of a low tide and we agreed to meet in the hotel lobby.  When I arrived Sune showed me the area he was in and it was perfectly calm water although the surf was breaking on the outer reef.  Anyone who knows this beach it gets mucky in many spots and difficult to keep on a grid.  I decided to start shallow and work deep parallel to the shore.  I asked Sune if the depth I was at would be good and he said lets start a little bit shallower.  So I did.  I started the grid search and my first target was a nice high tone.  I took a scoop and as the scoop broke the surface I had a wad of gray muck and green algae in the scoop.  I got a glimpse of a silver shine and as I pulled the goop out of my scoop the silver ring was tangled in the algae.  OMG!  Had Sune not told me to go that little bit shallower I would have hunted for hours and not found it.  These Kahala Beaches have played many tricks on me in the past and each time the ring had been found more shallow then expected.  As you can imagine Sune was so grateful to have his sentimental ring back before he flies to Los Angeles this evening.  Aloha to Sune!

Lost Gold Men’s Wedding Band at Waialae-Kahala Beach…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began back on 2 February when I got a call from the Ala Moana Hotel and guest Ana Lucia who was on her honeymoon from Costa Rica.  Ana told me her husband Jose lost his Yellow Gold Wedding ring at Waialae-Kahala Beach a few hours ago in waist deep water.  I asked if they could meet me there in about 30 minutes as that beach is only 10 minutes from my home.  They agreed so I headed over.  There is very limited parking but I got lucky as I was pulling in someone was leaving.  It took Jose & Ana a bit longer as rush hour traffic was just starting.  When they arrived Ana interpreted to Jose my request for him to show me where in the water he was.  I asked to go to the deepest and then I would work towards shore.  I started a grid search and worked towards shore.  Thankfully not too many targets but as I entered waist deep water Jose relayed thru Ana that he thought I was getting too close to shore.   Ana thought I was actually too far to the East so I moved Westward and deeper.  This area became very trashy so I was digging plenty of trash.  After an hour or so Jose & Ana said thank you for trying but maybe it was just meant to be.  I told them I wouldn’t give up and would try again soon.  Turns out the next day was super calm and a perfect low tide so I returned and started the hunt again.  With all the targets I figured the ring must still be here.  I started the Jose grid again this meant I was going to work more East and toward shore.  Sure enough as I left the previous days grid more East and Shallower I got a booming #20 on the Nox and in one scoop there was Jose’s ring in the scoop.  Had I only gone one more grid line the previous day I probably would have found it.  I immediately sent an email but to my surprise Jose & Ana had already flown back to Cost Rica as they hadn’t responded until a few days later.  Thankfully, Ana’s Aunt in San Francisco was going to visit them in Costa Rica that following weekend and if I got the ring by Express Mail to her she would personally deliver it to Jose when she arrived in Costa Rica.  Got the best “Shaka” pic I’ve seen in a long time.  Look at those smiles!  Aloha to Jose & Ana Lucia!
