I received a call from Noreen on June 24th regarding a diamond ring that her mother Edna had lost while out swimming in the lake the day before.  After asking Noreen a few questions I agreed to drive out to the lake the next day.

June 25:  I arrived at Ma Me O Beach and met Noreen and her mother Edna, at the cabin. Noreen showed me the area that they were in the lake swimming. The area was huge, approximately the size of a football field. I told Noreen that the search was going to be tough, almost like looking for a needle in a hay stack!

The search took me over four sand bars which were waist deep, and chest deep between each bar. It was good that Noreen had pictures of her mother on a float tube and this gave me a good reference point to start my search.  I searched the area for about four hours and called it a day. I told Noreen I would be back the following day.

July 26:  I decided to do an early morning search because the lake would be smooth like a sheet of glass which made it a pleasant time to search. The water was clear so I was able to see the sandy bottom.  Noreen also wanted to assist in the search so I gave her my backup detector.  We went over the search area that I did the previous day and had no luck. The weather forecast for the next few days was not good; the lake would be very rough and impossible to do a good search.

July 3:  The Lake was calm and a nice day for a search.  After studying the pictures and checking my GPS tracking I decided on an area but again had no luck.  My equinox 800 developed problems so I changed to my 3030 and proceeded to search, again with no luck.

July 11:  A very busy day at the lake with lots of people out.   We covered a huge area with no luck.

July 16:  I expanded my search area.  I must say for a busy lake the bottom was very clean with hardly any junk in the lake. Again, another day with no luck.

July 21:  I regrouped with Noreen and her brother Dan and asked again the same questions which I had asked before.  I must have sounded like a broken record to them but it was very important to me. Again we did a thorough search of the area and again no luck. I could tell Noreen and Dan where starting to doubt if the ring was ever going to be found. I told them I would find that ring and that it just takes time. Edna said to me that the ring is gone and someone else was going to find it. I told her if someone was going to find it that would be me.  That helped to reassure Edna.  Edna had just celebrated her 93rd birthday on the day she lost her ring.  The ring had been given to her by her father and had been on her finger for the past 60+ years.

July 26:  I did a weather check and the lake was rough, but the day was expected to be a nice so I decided to head out again.  When I arrived, the lake was rough so I waited it out and by noon the wind died down so we were able to search again.  I told Noreen that I was going to find the ring today if I had to stay in the lake all day!  Two hours into the search I received a loud tone followed by a sweet low tone.  Music to my ears! I knew it could be the ring.  I scooped it up and to my surprise there was the ring!  I walked over to Noreen and asked her if this was “IT”.  She could not believe that I had found her mother’s ring after so many hours in the lake searching.  What a wonderful feeling that was for me to be able to see Edna put the ring back on her finger.

Thank you, Noreen for sticking with me and not giving up on me.  Another happy client

Help with lost ring

July 7, 2020 8:10 PM

Good Evening,

My husband lost his brand new wedding ring this evening at a beach volleyball court in Lendrum in Edmonton tonight. We have been unable to locate it ourselves this evening and wonder when your next availability is?

Thank you,
Samantha

Knowing how critical this search was I immediately e-mailed her back asking her to call me.  Within ten minutes her husband Mitchell called to explain how he had lost his ring, so I agreed to meet Mitchell within 30 minutes at the court.

When I arrived at the volleyball court the heavens opened up and it poured. The court quickly started to flood. Mitchell told me he just got married to Samantha six weeks ago which made me even more determined that the ring had to be back on his finger quickly.

I told Mitchell to show me exactly where and how he lost his ring! Mitchell was close to the net so his ring either flew ahead of him or to the back of him.  Of course the court is filling up with water making it seem like a soup bowl.

Within twenty minute I received a wonderful tone from his 14k gold ring buried in the sand.  The look on Mitchell face said it all.

Thank you, Mitchell and Samantha for entrusting me to locate your lost ring.

I received a text from Preena on Tuesday inquiring what I charged to find a diamond necklace lost in a back yard.  When I spoke with Preena, she informed me that her daughter was attending her graduation party in a friends back garden.  After asking Preena many questions I agreed to meet up with her the next day.

When I met Preena at the house and she showed me pictures of her daughter with and without the necklace on her!  Preena said that the had searched the back garden with out any luck, and I reassured Preena if the neckless was lost in the garden I would find it!

It took me over one hour to locate the necklace.  Preena was grateful to have the necklace back as the necklace was very sentimental to her.   It was gifted to her by her husband when her third child was born.  Preena had given the necklace to her eldest daughter on her graduation day.

I received a call from Jacob this evening requesting my service to locate his wife’s rose gold wedding band which she lost in their back yard on Saturday morning.

An hour later, I meet Jacob and his wife Abi at their home.  Abi explained that she was doing Yoga exercises on her patio and had removed her ring and placed the ring on her Yoga mat.  When she was finished she picked the mat up, shook the mat towards her lawn,  rolled the mat up and then went into the house.

About ten minutes later Abi realized what she had done and quickly went out to search for her ring with no luck.  Jacob then rented a metal detector and told me that he did not understand how to operate it,  and had spent a few hours searching but had been unable to find the ring.

I searched their lawn for an hour with no luck, then I asked Abi to get her mat out and show me exactly what she had done.  We used a test ring and noticed that the tester ring  rolled  backwards and ended on the other side of her patio into the grass and not the direction they thought the ring flew. I found the ring just off the concrete patio which made the ring very difficult to locate with all the rebar to the untrained ear that’s  why Jacob was unable to find the ring with all the different ring tones his detector produced.

Jacob and Abi were so relived that the ring was found and back on her finger.

Thank you Jacob and Abi for entrusting me to locate your wedding band.

Ken emailed me last evening requesting my service to locate his ring which he had lost a week ago at a pickleball court. I emailed him back to have him call me to get more information on his loss.

Ken told me the ring was handed down to him by his mother and had been his father’s ring.  As it was very sentimental to him, Ken spent hours looking for the ring with no luck and had even put a poster up along the court hoping that someone would find it.

Six days had passed and it had still not been found. A friends wife suggested that he contact me through the Ring Finders website.

She told him if someone could find the ring it would be Norm.  At first Ken was reluctant to call but a day later decided that he had nothing to lose. Ken contacted me and we agreed to meet at 4:00 pm today at the court.

At the pickleball court Ken explained to me that once they came off the court,  there was a table set up with hand sanitizer. The sanitizer was very oily and he had walked onto a patch of grass while rubbing his hands together.  This is the area he thought his ring had fallen off, he searched for it and  even had the maintenance man cut the grass with no ring in sight.

With all the players at the court that day and all the gatherings around the table Ken’s ring had been stepped on which made it impossible to see with a naked eye.  It took me less than three minute to have Ken’s ring back on his finger.

Thank you Ken for entrusting me to find your late fathers ring.

I received an e-mail late last night from Kale requesting my service to locate his lost wedding band. I called Kale and arranged a meeting at 9.00 am this morning.

I met Kale in his front yard and he told me that he planted an apple tree and had felt the ring fly off his finger.  He thought his ring had possibly ended up in the hole that he had dug.  He searched the hole and his front yard and had no luck.  I told Kale that the ring would probably be within a radius of 15 to 20 feet from the tree.  When I asked him if he had raked his lawn, he replied that he had around the apple tree in hopes that he would find the ring.  I did a quick search around the area then moved to where he left his rake the night before  and a foot away I found his ring tucked nicely in the grass.

Another happy Client,  Thank you Kale.

I received a call from Darren requesting my service to locate his grandmother’s wedding ring which was handed down to his daughter. Darren’s son and daughter where play fighting in the front yard. His daughter had two rings on her finger and both of them fell off. Luckily they found one ring but Darren and his kids searched the area on their hands and knees for hours with no luck. What made the search more difficult is that the ring is yellow gold and that the grass is still yellow from our long winters. His daughter was devastated that her great grandmother’s ring was missing.

When Darren called I assured him that if the ring was in his yard I would find it. Yellowstone is 45 miles from me so I told Darren I would be in his yard within one hour. Darren showed me the area where one ring was found, and within a half hour I found the ring outside the area where they searched. I called Darren over to show him the spot where the ring was, and how well it blended into the ground. That moment made his day.

Thank you Darren for entrusting me to locate a very sentimental ring of your daughter’s Great Grandmother.
