Lost White Gold Wedding Ring at Kahanamoku Beach Waikiki…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began yesterday when I got a text from James who was on vacation from Vacaville, California. While swimming back to shore at Kahanamoku Beach the previous day a wave hit James from behind and his ring flew off into the shore break and disappeared. After texting me a pic of where he was I realized the area was probably detected many times over except maybe the rubble area which was in his picture. I checked with a few friends who hadn’t been detecting so I texted James that I would try the next morning at low tide. James texted me some photos of their day at the beach and I was able to locate some large coral chunks as a starting point for my grid search. It was still dark when I arrived but decided I better beat the other detectorists that would surely be joining me. First two targets were trash and then I got two dimes in a row. I was starting to exit the picture area but James said it was approximate so I decided to move on. Next screaming target was a 14K white gold ladies wedding band. I wasn’t expecting that but this is the rocky area most detectorists avoid. Then another detectorist joined me and asked how I was doing. I showed him the ring and he said “Score”. Continuing on I got a third dime. Then when I was about to call it a lost cause I got another target with a “16” on the Nox in ankle deep water and in one scoop there was a White Gold Wedding Ring in the scoop. Quite a ways from the picture area but this could be it. I noticed a date inside the ring which James hadn’t told me about. I went back to the car and gave him a call. They were flying back to Cali today but were still in the hotel and about 15 minutes away. I told James I found a White Gold ring and asked if his had a date. He said yes and asked, “What is the date?” I said, “No, you tell me the date.” He shouted out the date inscribed and we agreed to meet at the Gilligan’s Snack Truck for the return. James arrived with his lovely wife Erin and we had a reunion of the ring with the rightful owner. Vacation ends on a high note! Aloha to James & Erin!

LOST WEDDING RING NORTH SHORE HAWAII FOUND

  • from Waikīkī Beach (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find started from a phone call from my wife. On Saturday afternoon I decided to take our two kids to the beach as she was going to a gender reveal which I decide not go to. While she was at the gender reveal it turned into a surprise wedding. During the transition some family and friends set up the runway where the bride and groom would walk down to say their vows and within minutes the altar was set. My wife along with everyone else was in shock to say the least. Emotions ran high as there was excitement  in the air. At 2:45pm the bride walked down the aisle as her soon to be husband waited for her at the edge of the sand. As the Kahu (Pastor/Officiant) passed the rings to the groom during the ceremony the wedding band fell into the sand but they continued in with the ceremony which ended with the gender reveal, IT’S A BOY!! . But immediately after celebration everyone frantically began looking for the lost wedding band in the sand. That’s when I got a phone call from my wife. I was on the other side of the island with our two children swimming. She explain to me what happened and I comforted my wife and let her know that I am packing up the kids and heading to the house to get the equipment and would be there shortly. My wife in return let the bride know that help was on the way. And that brought her much comfort. The logistics of getting the kids in the car, driving home, getting the equipment and driving through traffic to get to the lost wedding band before the sun goes down and find parking on a weekend is nothing short of a miracle. I arrive at the beach where the kids and I are greeted by my wife and the bride. They escort us down to the place where they believe the ring is at the edge of the runway. I turn on my equinox and started the search. After three sweeps I get a solid tone and ask what am I looking for? Silver ? Gold? Because on my display screen I’m getting a solid silver tone. The bride’s friend runs over to her and gets the other ring and secures it in both hands as she runs back to me. I take hold of the other ring and carefully look inside and in bedded in the ring is 14 K. I give back the ring and let her know I will continue to search and as she turns to walk away I get a loud gold tone and tell her “I have it” The mother of the bride who was also there stopped herself in her tracks and looks at me. I get on one knee and as I remove the sand from the surface low and behold a white gold ring with diamonds. What was lost is now found. I hold up the ring and everyone gave a loud cheer! Another successful recovery and another happy couple. keep spreading the Aloha …

Lost Gold Hawaiian Heirloom Ring at Lanikuhonua Lagoon…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began yesterday afternoon when I received an email from Rayna who lives in Kapolei on Oahu. While enjoying the day with her friend her Gold Hawaiian Heirloom Ring fell off into shallow water in Lanikuhonua Lagoon near Paradise Cove and disappeared. I immediately looked at the tide chart and because of a high surf warning at that moment I decided to go the next morning at low tide. The lagoon is somewhat protected but during high tide it flows like a river to Paradise Cove lagoon. The monk seals actually use it as a navigation route to get into that deeper lagoon. I arrived around 5:30AM as the sun was coming up and there was enough light to start my search. A few moments later Rayna showed up and showed me the exact location she was in the lagoon. A gentleman named Shane came with her to assist in any way he could. I immediately started my grid search and on the third leg I got a loud “17” on the Nox and in one scoop there was Rayna’s beautiful heirloom ring she got from her Grandma. I shouted over to her on the shoreline, “Got it!” She came running over and tears of joy wear falling down her face. She was extremely relieved the precious ring was found and she hugged me in thanks. Her tears certainly turned into a lovely smile! Aloha to Rayna!

Lost Gold “Love Conquers All” Ring at 4 Seasons Ko Olina Resort…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began Friday 25 June when I got a call from the 4 Seasons Concierge Desk asking if I could reach out to one of their guests that lost a Gold Ring in the water. They gave me the contact number and I immediately called Anna from Miami Florida who was on vacation at Ko Olina Resort and was leaving in a few hours. She lost her ring earlier in the day and had over ten other guests trying to find her “Caritas Vincit Omnia” Gold Ring in waist deep water. With that many people searching someone probably stepped on the ring and buried it deeper in the sand. Anna sent me a beach picture and circled the general location the ring fell off her finger. Saturday morning at low tide I matched her picture up with the beach and drew my grid lines in the sand. I took the Nox in the water and started working North through the grid. On about the fifth leg I got a nice “16” tone and in one scoop there was Anna’s stunning ring in the scoop. I went back to my car to text Anna in Miami the good news and she had already texted me “Any news?” I sent her a picture of the ring and texted, “Is that good news?” She responded, “No way, Wow thank you so much” The ring arrived today in Miami and Anna sent me the picture above. Beautiful Girl, Smile and Ring. Aloha to Anna!

Lost Platinum Wedding Band at Ala Moana Beach Park…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when I got a text yesterday from Charles who lives in Honolulu. While enjoying the beach with his wife, Charles was sure when he swam halfway out to the buoys and back that his ring probably slipped off then. He wasn’t positive but that was the only place left to hunt. Since it’s 10-12 feet out towards the buoy I told Charlie it would require scuba gear and we agreed to meet the next morning at 6AM sharp at an extreme low tide. Charles arrived a little early and texted me that the parking near where we needed to be was packed. Construction vehicles and new lifeguard stalls were filled to capacity. This has never happened to me at Ala Moana Beach park this early. I parked about a block and a half away and told Charles I would just hump my gear down from there. When I got back to my car I realized the parking modifications included the stall I was in and I had to move. Charles saw a spot but someone grabbed it. I told him I’d cruise around and see what I could find. As I was coming back to our area a gentleman waved his hand that he was leaving. Low and behold the stall couldn’t be any closer to where I needed to be. Thank you Jesus! After donning my scuba gear Charles and I walked down to the beach and I had him draw lines in the sand to the extreme edges he thought he had been. When he was done I asked if he was sure and he asked if he could move the western grid line 10 feet farther. But of course! To do the entire grid he drew was going to take about an hour so I started on the west side and proceeded easterly. I had my orange grid line with me as the water was already starting to lose visibility. I went as far out as I could before it turns to muck and turned around towards the shore again. I got a great tone but it turned out to be a key. On the second leg I got another nice tone but the water was silted up and all I could do was grab handfuls of sand & rubble until I had the target in my hand. On the third grab I had the target in my hand and held it up to my mask to see what I had and it was a Platinum Ring. I surfaced in neck deep water which would be over my head on a high tide and told Charles I think I found your ring. After reading him the date he confirmed that was indeed his. Total time underwater 7 minutes. Had Charles not extended out his grid to the west I would have missed the ring by inches. Another Blessing! What a great ending to a day that started looking really bad. Aloha to Charles!

Lost 2.1 Carat Solitaire Diamond Yellow Gold Ring at Kailua Beach…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when I got a text from Krisgel which read “I lost my engagement ring on Friday. I dropped it near the shore of Kailua Beach. I really hope you can help me find it”. I immediately called but there was no answer or voicemail option. The area code was for Dallas, Texas so I knew they must be tourists. I tried a few minutes later and thankfully Stephen, Krisgel’s husband answered and confirmed the ring was still lost and they didn’t tell anyone else. I told Stephen I was heading home and would grab my gear and asked if we could meet at Kailua Beach. He agreed and off we went. Kailua Beach was packed when I arrived and after three laps through the parking lot I left to see if I could find street parking which is a major headache in Kailua and they are cracking down. To my amazement as I turned around a car was loading in front of me so I pulled over and waited. They were quick so I parked and called Stephen. He had to be dropped off because they couldn’t find parking either.
We met at the Kayak Rentals and he took me down to where the ring was lost. As you can see in the picture the conditions weren’t ideal to say the least and I was thinking I might have to return the next morning at the low tide. I entered the water to test the surf and surge and I was able to keep my position so I started a search. First I walked out to chest deep water to see what the bottom was like and it was solid sand. The ring was lost two days prior so I’m thinking it could be anywhere by now. I decided to search the shore break first to see if it got washed up. Only found a child’s small beach shovel and thankfully the beach was fairly sterile otherwise. I moved out to the deepest area Krisgel was and did a search parallel to the shore. First target a pull tab, then a nickel, then another pull tab. I was able to stay on grid so I continued on. Then on the second grid the Nox screamed a 12-13 and on the second scoop I saw the monster rock diamond in the scoop. I barely saw the ring! I yelled toward Stephen ” I think I got it!” By now Krisgel joined us after parking and we all met on the shoreline. They reached into the scoop and exclaimed, ” I can’t believe you found it.” Krisgel immediately put the stunning ring back on her finger and kept saying “Thank you so much!” We had a few hugs and handshakes and then parted ways. Vacation saved! Aloha to Krisgel & Stephen!

Lost Platinum & Diamonds Engagement Ring at Moana Surfrider Beach Waikiki…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when I got an emotional call and plea to come down to the Moana Surfrider Beach in Waikiki to find Dinah’s Platinum & Diamonds Engagement Ring that she just lost in the water. Dinah told me the lifeguards hunted with detectors but couldn’t find her ring in waist deep water. I told Dinah I usually won’t hunt after a lifeguard search for reasons I don’t like to discuss. Let’s just say it’s not always on the Up and Up. She was so distraught I went against my instincts and told my wife Wendy I had to go give it a shot. Waikiki is finally experiencing an onslaught of tourists and parking is non-existent so my wife said she could drop me off then deliver a few items to her brother that lives nearby Waikiki. Perfect! I told Dinah I’d grab my gear and meet her in front of the Moana Surfrider in 20 minutes. When I arrived Dinah was so grateful and she and her fiance’ Vince walked me down to the beach to show me where the ring was lost. Dinah and Vince are from Northern California and on vacation in Waikiki. Dinah decided to go for a swim and when she was returning a wave pulled her out to sea then the next threw her to a seated position in the water and her ring popped off and disappeared. It’s like soup with zero visibility and she tried to locate the ring but only a detector could do it now. I was pleased to see the lifeguards that attempted to search were two of the good guys so I was sure the ring was still here. They also added some clues as to the location due to tide changes. Every piece of information helps and they suggested I try the low tide trough first. I did just that and got a pull tab and a beaver tail. Each took several scoops to retrieve as the surf was going from thigh to neck deep constantly. After no luck in the trough I decided to go up the wet sand slope and then back into the water neck deep. On the third up slope I got a screaming “16” on the Nox and in one scoop of the wet sand there was Dinah’s stunning ring glistening in the sunlight. Dinah initially told me her ring was white gold but this ring was platinum but looked exactly like the picture she showed me when I arrived. Sure enough it was her ring and Dinah was so overcome with joy she couldn’t stop hugging me. She had just Googled how to pray the Rosary when I called over to her to tell her I found it. The Lord works in mysterious ways and I feel blessed to be able to enjoy this hobby so much. We all embraced and shook hands and the folks on the beach were clapping and shouting “Congratulations”. I Love this and Aloha to Dinah & Vince!

Lost wedding ring Kailua found

  • from Waikīkī Beach (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find started with a phone call while I was at work. Jenny called me and asked if I was free and available to come over to Kailua  and help her find her lost wedding ring which is in the water around chest to waist deep. I asked Jenny some important questions to narrow down the search site all the while getting the equipment ready and loaded into the truck. I lock up the business and head out to help find this lost precious rings. Having to travel halfway across the island in the middle of the evening and knowing the sun is setting soon brings upon anticipation and a streak of determination. I Arrive at Kailua Beach and gather the CTX 3030 and the xtreme scoop. I meet the family on the beach and gathered more information concerning the place they believe the ring dropped in the water and the time so I could adjust concerning the tides. I Powered up the machine and had enough information to start looking and  let the family know that the rings are exactly where we will find them. I know this hunt has a time urgency and down the beach I go… I can see the sun setting over the mountains as I enter the water. As I enter I get my first target and dig it. It’s a bottle cap. I hold it up to show the family that it’s not what we’re  looking for. It was excitement in their eyes until they realized it was not the rings. I yelled out I’ll continue to move on and with excitement in their eyes and hope on the edge of the seat the family gazed while I grid the ocean floor. I receive a few other tones that makes me dig and i come up with pulltabs and coins. There in the Pacific Ocean in waist deep water I get a beautiful tone knowing this is the ring. I scoop with caution because it is a diamond ring. I look in the bottom of my scoop and there is one of the two lost rings. I search a little farther and lo and behold I hear the sound of the other ring. I dig and look in the bottom of the scoop and there it is the other beautiful diamond ring shining as the sunsets behind the koolau Mountain Range. I walked out of the water looking at my detector and as the family walks to me I placed one of the rings in the bottle cap and tell the family… well seems like I found a bottle cap and hold out the bottle cap with one of the rings sitting inside of it. And I can hear the joy as they all realize the ring is found. And as they look at the ring that was lost and now found I can see the questions in their head of where is the other one and that’s when I was able to pull out the second ring and say we done it! here is your loss rings that is now found. And as I returned the rings and got the most warmest hugs from the family I got to take a step back and see Such a beautiful family with The heart and care for one another. Truly the Hawaiian way of living… close as always.

I’m thankful I was able to help and I’m happy to know the rings are in the rightful owners hands. Another successful recovery and beautiful sunset to go along with it.

Lost Titanium Wedding Band at Electric Beach Oahu…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began yesterday when I received a text from Joe who hails from Indiana and serves in the Navy on a Guided Missile Destroyer homeported at Pearl Harbor. Joe told me that the day before while at Electric Beach on the west coast of Oahu he had taken off his Titanium Wedding Band and placed it in a beach bag before going into the water along with his other clothes. When he returned he put his clothes on and went to reach inside the bag for his ring and it was gone. Everyone assumed it had to be in the sand near the bag but after a half hour search the ring was no where to be found. After a Google search for “lost ring Oahu” Joe found my contact number and sent a text. I responded and we decided to go to the beach the next day during my lunch break. Since Joe lived in the barracks on base and that’s where I work we decided to go over in my car since I had all the gear. When we arrived at Electric Beach Joe drew a 40 foot by 30 foot grid box in the sand where he believed the ring should be. I started the search and immediately started getting a few good tones but they ended up being a old pull tab and a nickel. Not familiar with Titanium I dug everything. I was about to complete the grid and only had about 4 more feet to go when I got a screaming 13 on the Nox and in one scoop there was Joe’s Titanium Wedding Band. So relieved Joe held back his emotions and just said, “My gosh Thank you so much”. I said “You drew that grid just big enough” “Good job now let’s go back to base.” Aloha to Joe and have fun on your first deployment and be safe!

Lost wedding ring North Shore found

  • from Waikīkī Beach (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find started out with a phone call in the evening from Simon. He asked if I would be able to go to the North Shore and search for his platinum Cartier wedding ring which he lost while swimming. I gathered all the details concerning the time he lost it so I could verify the tides and also try to get as much information to put me in the right area for a recovery. It was getting late and I had to put the kids to sleep and knew if this was going to be a success I needed to head down early. So, Early the next morning I took a drive out to Sharks cove And gathered all my gear and hike down to the cove. I was greeted at the shoreline by a mother and daughter which they ask am I looking for anything and I replied yes a young men’s wedding ring. They both looked at each other and said are you able to find it? I replied I’m going to give it my best and they both smiled as we departed. The area to search was quite large but I decided to give it my best shot and search the deepest areas first as it was low tide. I found countless amounts of pulltabs and aluminum. After dodging a bunch of snorkelers I get this really good tone. I secure the target and dig with my extreme scoop and low and behold there in my scoop is Simon‘s platinum wedding ring. As I look up above the waterline I notice two swimmers swimming to me and those were the two that I met at the shoreline. As we gathered closer I was able to show them the wedding ring that was once lost is now found. They both underwater seen the ring in my hand as I held it out to them with a thumbs up… and they both screamed and stood up and said you found it! We all were excited and happy to know that there was a happy ending with this incident. The drive home was not least burdensome. I got to call Simon with the Good news and left him a message. Simon called me back and we were able to meet up at their hotel in Waikiki. The reunion of the ring to the owner was nothing short of a miracle and smiles that expressed gratitude. Well, I’m Happy to help recover this beautiful ring and Simon enjoy your time here in Hawaii.
