All Is Not Lost On Honeymoon Island, Platinum Wedding Ring Recovered

Nicole and Darren were playing catch in the water on Honeymoon Island, enjoying the Fourth of July weekend. Darren had his ring hand in the water and threw the ball with the opposite hand. After a time, the platinum wedding band slid off his hand into the water.  Nicole helped him search for the ring, to no avail.   Nicole found the SRARC website on her phone and contacted Howard Metts, to see if he could help. After receiving permission from the park ranger, Howard Metts and Dimitur Alipiev met Nicole and Darren at the beach and three hours later, started the search for the ring. The hunt lasted for over an hour before Howard finally found a good target, which turned out to be the ring! Darren and Nicole were overjoyed and very appreciative of SRARC and their volunteers for finding their cherished ring. Nicely done, Howard & Dimitur!

Lost Ring Recovered With Help From Google Earth at Ft. Desoto Beach

Charles and his family were over from Tampa enjoying a day at Ft. DeSoto Beach.  Once in the water, Charles decided to put his wedding ring in a zippered pocket for safe keeping. As soon as he got it off his finger, it slipped out from his hands into the waist deep water! Charles’ wife searched the web for a metal detector and soon found and contacted SRARC.  Wayne responded to the call and arranged for some team members to search the next day. Mike Miller & Paul Hill spoke to Charles to get details as to where to begin the search.  Charles asked if a Google Earth photo would help? Absolutely! With this information, Mike & Paul set out to divide and conquer! Each man took an end of the area and worked their way to the other.  Less than two passes later, Paul had the ring in his scoop! A call was made and Charles drove over to pick up his “precious” as he called it.  Charles thanked the team profusely and as he was leaving he claimed “I’ve got my MOJO back!” We are happy for your Charles! Thanks Mike & Paul for being there for him.

Lost Heirloom Ring Recovered Sand Castle Lido Beach, Florida

Grace and her husband were down for a family reunion from Indiana for the week. On Friday afternoon, she decided to swim out to join her Mom and Dad on the sandbar in front of their hotel. Shortly after arriving she felt the ring that her grandmother had given her slip off her finger! The ring was special to Grace because her grandmother had chosen it for her from jewelry that she had had for many years. Since Grace’s grandmother was there with the family it was especially hard to tell her it was lost.

The family searched the sandbar for hours but could not find it. That night Grace did a search on Google “what to do when you lose a ring in the ocean” and up popped SRARC. She emailed the web site and Stan Flack contacted her. Stan called Mike Miller to see if he could meet her before they had to leave at 9:00 a.m. the next morning. Mike met her and got the details for the search. She said it was just up on front part of the first sandbar and off Mike went to the area she pointed to. It didn’t take long for Mike to figure out he could not walk out to the first sandbar. He had never attempted to swim with his detector and scoop but there is always a first time for everything so off he went. With a little effort, he made it and about 10 minutes later the ring came up in his scoop. The return trip was a little more difficult and he was out of breath when he finally touched bottom again. He does not recommend that anyone try that unless they have a float device so they won’t get into trouble. Grace and all her family were all very happy and amazed that the ring was recovered. SRARC is just as happy to have had the opportunity to help put a smile back on their faces! Well done, Mike! We are all glad you’re an excellent swimmer!

Wedding Ring Lost, Found and Returned at Siesta Key Beach, Florida

Kyla and Kyle were on a family vacation at Siesta Key from North Carolina. Kyla shared with Mike and I the family members on their trip were having a streak of bad luck. Their turn came at 3 PM on Saturday when Kyle was swimming in the gulf. Kyle was out in the gulf throwing a ball around and at one point digging for shells. Kyle had the location we should search locked down in his mind and came out into the gulf to show Mike and I the areas to hunt. Mike and I searched the chest to waist deep water first as that is where Kyle felt he lost the ring.

After searching the depths for a good while in the rough surf we decided to make our way closer to the beach as Kyle felt there was a possibility he lost it there.  As Mike and I were making our way over a sand bar I got a strong hit. Two scoops later up came Kyle’s ring. Kyle’s ring was unique; it has a sapphire on the inside of the band. Kayla explained it is there for good luck

Wedding Ring Lost at Ceremony Found and returned on Redington Beach, Florida

April and Tony came to Florida from Michigan to have a Beach Wedding and were joined by their families on Redington Beach just before sundown for the ceremony. As the ring bearer was making his way to the alter one of the rings fell off the pillow that he was carrying. The ceremony continued without the ring and afterwards someone brought a rake and started searching for the ring. Meagan one of the wedding planners, looked up the Ringfinders knowing that they had helped another couple find a lost ring two years ago on Sunset Beach. She called Tom Jones and asked if anyone could get there before dark to search for the ring. Tom and Joe headed out immediately and called Stan Flack to see if he could help with the hunt.
Upon arrival they ask what metal the ring was made of and got several answers from the family. Some said Silver, White gold and the most common answer was platinum. They started hunting the path that the wedding party had walked but did not find the ring. After expanding the search farther back on the path Tom got a good gold signal and up came the 14 K White Gold ring. The Bride and Groom were busy with the Wedding Photographer getting pictures as the sun was setting but took time out to show how grateful they were that the ring was found.

COAST TO COAST HELPING HAND LEADS TO LOST RING RETURN

Rajesh was at a friend’s apartment complex in Oldsmar, FL playing volleyball when he felt his ring come off his finger during a serve. He and his friends looked in the sand where they thought it had landed for a long time and finally gave up. Rajesh googled lost ring and found The Ring Finders web page where he then contact Southern California Ring Finder member Steve Smith who was clearly way too far from Tampa, Florida to search. Steve’s quick thinking had him look up a more local hunter and he in turn passed Rajesh on to SRARC and Ring Finder member Stan Flack. Stan then contacted the nearest SRARC team member Howard Metz to help Rajesh in Oldsmar. It was already too late in the day so the two decided to meet the next day right after lunch. After getting a few more details of the events, Howard went right to work and within 10 minutes, a very relieved Rajesh was reunited with his ring. Hugs and smiles all the way around. Good work Howard and a shout out to Steve Smith for passing Rajesh along to us so we could reunite him with his cherished ring. Nice work everyone, that’s what it’s all about.
