I received a call from Sofia who had lost her ring at the beach the night before. We discussed the loss, and after finding out where it occurred my hope was increased thinking we would be able to make a recovery, so I let her know that I would leave right away in order to conduct a search as soon as possible.

We met up at the beach and I walked out with Sofia and her friend Andrew. When we got to the area, Andrew showed me the general vicinity, and Sofia replayed what she was doing to cause the loss. She even told me that she had watched the ring come off of her finger, but was not able to find it. I gathered my equipment, and began my search. After about 8 feet I got my first strong signal, dug, and had Sofia’s Ring in the scoop. I held it up, and Andrew exclaimed, “It only took two minutes”. They were both amazed, because they had searched so diligently the night before. Sofia then told me that her grandmother had given her the ring, so it meant a lot to her. It sure is nice to be able to reunite people to their heirlooms.

Ricardo called me asking for help finding his wedding ring. He had been at the beach an hour before, and after he left his ring was missing. He wasn’t able to meet me there, but was able to give concise directions as to where he had been. I let him know I was available, and was on my way in just a few minutes. It is always important to conduct a search as soon as is possible in order to increase the possibility of a recovery.

I was able to get to the beach in good time, and using Ricardo’s directions, was able to find the area for the search. There were many people in the area, and I was thinking that they might have placed their towel over his ring. I began in the open areas between the towels trying not to disturb anyone while I searched. I made one pass down the beach, then began my way up, when in the middle of the beach I received a solid signal, dug, and had the ring. I looked a my phone, and saw that 4 minutes earlier Ricardo sent a text asking if I was having any trouble finding the beach, and my reply was “I have your ring.” which amazed him. He lived close in a nearby town, and asked if I could drop it in his mailbox.

I made it over to his house, put his ring in the mailbox, wrapped in some papers to insure it stayed where it dropped, and felt great about the search. Didn’t get to see the smile, but I know it was there.

I had just gotten back from a successful search from earlier in the day (it was now about 7:00 PM) when my phone rang, and a gentleman was wondering if I could help locate his lost wedding ring. Well my wife was on the way home with our dinner, so I asked some questions about the loss, and figured there was a good possibility of a recovery, but wanted to have my dinner because I hadn’t eaten since 10:30 that morning. so I asked if he would mind me eating first, and then I would come. He agreed, and I told him I would let him know when I was leaving.

Rob told me that he would meet me at the beach, but I got there a bit earlier than he did. He had given me an area to search, but because it was dark, and the sand all looks the same, I looked around for traces of a search in the sand. I did find an area in the vicinity he had given me that looked like someone had been searching for something, so I began to search as I waited for Rob to come. I searched the whole area with no success, and became a little dismayed until Rob showed up, and let me know I was looking in the wrong place. He lead me to where he remembered him being earlier that day, and I began a new search. I swung my detector twice, got a good strong signal, scooped the sand, and had Rob’s wedding ring to hand back to him. He was astonished that the recovery happened so fast, but the fact that he was there to correct my search area made all the difference. He was very happy, and I believe he said that he and his wife were celebrating their wedding anniversary in 3 months. What a great end to a long day.

Sony called because she had lost her ring at the beach. It was late in the evening, and she said she would not be able to meet me, but her friend would. She told me where the loss occurred, and I made my way there.

When I got to the beach Sony’s friend met me to show me where to look. The area was small.  It took about 3 minutes to find her ring, and hand it to her friend. It was a short and sweet search, that ended well. I am happy to be able to help those in need.

Michael called to see if I could help him find some buried stakes in his back yard. He had recently purchased his home, and was in the back yard with his girlfriend when she stepped on an old rusted stake that had been cut off just under the surface, rather than dug out, and it cut her foot up pretty bad. I let him know I could do the search, and we arranged a day for it.

I got to Michael’s house, and he lead me to where the first stake was found. It was partially dug up, and I reached to feel it, realizing it was as sharp as a razor. It was an old rusted fence stake that must have been hammered at least three feet into the ground. I realized that instead of digging them out the previous owner figured it would be much easier to just grind them off. Michael did not know if there were any more, but desperately wanted to know for the safety of anyone coming into his yard. After the search was complete, I had found 6 more dangerously sharp stakes to be removed. Needless to say, Michael was very relieved to know he could free his yard of these harmful objects.

Roger lost his car key at the beach. After a futile attempt to find it, he found me on theringfinders.com web site, and asked if I could help. Well it was just that morning the key was lost, so I told him I would come right away, in order to increase the possibility of a recovery.

When I got to the beach Roger told me he had buried the key, so he could go in the water, and not have to worry someone might take it. The problem occurred when after being in the water, he came out grabbed his towel, and headed for his car. When he got there, it was then he realized that the key was still in the sand. I set up my equipment, and began my search. I made sure to cover all of the area Roger had pointed out to me, plus going further to be sure I did not miss it. After about 15 passes in my grid, having found numerous pieces of trash metal, I found the key, and held it up for Roger. He was happy to have it back so he could head off for work. So I really made his day.

I was contacted by Holly late one evening because she had lost a couple of rings earlier that day. She and her family had been at the beach when they were lost, and she wondered if I would be able to do a search maybe in the morning. I know that this beach is cleaned by machines daily, so I urged a search right away. She was unable to meet me there because she and her family had left the beach already, and her husband had gone to the Dodger game. I let her know that I would do the search if they were able to pin point the area of the loss using a satellite image, which they did.

I got to the beach about 9:00 PM, and began my search. I had the general area, but knew that because they were not there to show me their exact location, I had to make sure to cover more area to ensure a complete search. I started low on the beach and worked a grid up going out of the boundaries that were sent. I took my time to be sure I covered every inch of sand. After searching for about 45 minutes I found her engagement ring, and called her to be sure it was the one. I then proceeded to look for the other ring searching further up the beach, but was unable to find it. Holly let me know that I found the one that meant the most to her, which made me happy. We picked a place for the return, and I got to meet Holly and her family. It was truly a pleasure to have been able to help her with her loss.

Cole had been playing in the park with his dog, when with the flick of his wrist, his ring flew off of his hand and landed in the tall grass. He and a friend had scoured the area for at least an hour before calling, and requesting help. They had remained there, so I told them I would come immediately.

When I got there, I needed to find out exactly where they were, and find a place to park out on the main street because the park had closed for the night. When I did find them Cole showed me where he had been standing, and what he did to make the ring fly off of his hand, so I had a starting point. He thought it might have flown far, so I was prepared for a lengthy search. I got my gear on and began, and within 5 swings of my detector, I had a strong signal. I pulled out my pin pointer, put it in, and  found Cole’s ring about 2 inches under the grass. I brought it up, and he was a bit surprised that it had been so close all along. Well, some smiles were made that day, and he could leave the park with a sigh of relief.

Trishla contacted me about her lost ring. She had been at Venice Beach, and had lost it from the tent they had set up. Her friend not knowing she had removed the ring and put it in the tent, picked the tent up, and shook it out when they were ready to leave for the day. They stayed there, and I let them know I would come as soon as possible.

When I got there It took a couple of minutes to find them, and I made my way over. They explained the way the ring was lost, and showed me the possible area. I began my search and worked out into the surrounding area. I made about 5 passes in my grid when I got a real nice signal, dug, and had Trishla’s ring in the scoop. I brought it out and showed her, and she immediately became emotional. That is when they told me that ring was given to her by her mother when she was about 9 years old, and it had a profound special meaning to her. I was glad to have reunited Trishla with such a precious keepsake.

Maria-Victoria called about the loss of her necklace. She was out at the beach the night before, and in the dark enjoying the evening and the waves. She had been diving in the water when all of a sudden she noticed that her necklace was missing. This piece of jewelry had been commissioned by her mother in law by a local artist in the mother in law’s native Zimbabwe, so it was a great loss. When she called, it was low tide (it had been high tide when she lost it), and I said that now would be the best time for the search, and not to wait.

When I got to the beach Mari-Victoria was there waiting for me. We discussed the loss, and she had already marked off the area where she believed the loss occurred. I asked about the necklace as to how it was made, and what metals were used in its construction. She tried to explain, and had a blurry photo that did not help to much, but she kept talking about the clasp that held it together on her neck. I began my search low at the water line and worked my way up the slope. The beach was sanded in, and there were no signals except for a car key that I later turned in to the lifeguard. I finished the search up the slope, the told her that I was going to go down into the water, and work outside the boundaries she had drawn. I made one pass in knee deep water, then turned up. I had gone past her boundary about 15 feet when I got a good signal, I dug, and had a small metal ring with some stones attached to it, so I held it up for her, and she came, and positively identified it. I passed my coil over again, and got another good signal, dug and had the rest of it. She was so very happy, because this was a very special piece for her. I did notice though why she kept mentioning the clasp, because the clasp was the only metal in the necklace, everything else was stone and a high tensile string. Without the clasp I would not have found it. What a great day for sure.
