It’s around 9:30 AM when I receive a call from a young man who asked if I could help him find his lost ring. I asked my standard questions and after a few minutes of talking I realized this was a bit of a long-shot, being that he did not know exactly when the ring came off his finger.

There was approximately 3 to 4 locations where he could’ve been that day after realizing the ring was no longer on his finger, one place was the beach and for me that was the only place I could search as the rest were restaurants parking lots. I decided to meet this young man quickly that morning for the fact if it was on the beach someone could find it. We met around 11 AM and talked about the search area.

Such a nice young man and after hearing his story on what the ring meant to him I so wanted to find it, he went on to tell me how much he loved his girlfriend/fiancé I knew this ring meant the world to him. He went on to Readit and posted ”I lost my ring at Stanley Park how can I find it”… Someone replied call Chris Turner from The Ring Finders and he did. The rest is history, it only took a matter of minutes to find his beautiful ring and surprise the young man, I’m very inspired how much he loves his girlfriend/fiancé and how much it meant to him to get his ring back.

Lost Ring Found at Kits Beach Dog Park.

This morning I received a phone call from a young lady who said her friend had lost his ring at Kits beach dog Park. They believed it was in 2 to 3 feet of water and searched as best they could but did not find it. After talking to them on the phone about the search area I knew this beach has a lot of rocks and the ring could easily sit up for somebody to see and find, so I jumped in my car and headed down right away.

The young man who lost the ring told me he was going home to dry off and drop off the dog and come back to  show me the area. The tide was going out so when I got there I had to figure out where he was and visually search the area before somebody else might spot it. As I was waiting for the him to show up I walked around eyeballing the area when I spotted his beautiful ring!

After meeting him and having him show me where he believe he lost it, I showed him where I found it.  Where i found it was much higher up the bank then he believed it would be, so it was a good thing to act fast and get there before someone else put it in their pocket.

The only reason I believe I found it higher up the drop off  was when he showed me how he threw the ball, underhand the ring possibly went across his body and behind him, just my theory.

I received a phone call last night in regards to a lost ring at Spanish banks beach in Vancouver. The young lady told me the story on how she lost her ring and that her and her boyfriend spent four hours searching for it with a metal detector they bought from Canadian Tire.

When they were about to leave the beach the young lady’s mother called and said you must call TheRingFinders Chris Turner ASAP! Her mother researched online on how to find a lost ring and found TheRingFinders directly and immediately contacted her daughter.

We set up a meeting for the next morning to look for her diamond ring, I found out later it was a gift for her 21st birthday from her mother and father and she had it for less than a year and lost it, unfortunately. These things happen more than you know and the most important thing is that people have a second chance to find what they thought was lost forever.

I gathered all the information I needed and started my grid search and within 15 minutes found her beautiful diamond ring along with a big smile from her and her mother!

The moral of this story is don’t give up if you buy a metal detector and cannot find your ring… Contact a Metal Detecting Specialist, I personally have 50 years of experience and look forward to helping you find what you thought was lost forever!

Lost Ring found in Penticton,BC.

Got a phone call from a young man who said he had lost his white gold wedding band while visiting a little town just outside of Penticton called Granite Creek. He went on to tell me he was throwing a snowball and felts his ring come off his finger. I asked him a few questions, we discussed the search and I agreed to drive four hours up into the interior to help him find his lost ring.

I got up at 3 AM made myself 2 coffees and hit the road at 4:15 AM. I took my time as we were going to meet at 10 AM, I stopped at Manning Park and took a few photos and drone shots. This was my favourite place growing up where my father and mother took me and my brother to enjoy the beautiful outdoors.

I met Devin at 10 AM and I followed him on a 30 minute drive to Granite Creek where he lost his ring, when we both parked I saw him get out and walk to the area quickly to do a once over. There was not much snow left and I asked him if it had melted and he said yes, a lot. Before I took my metal detectors out of the car we walked around and eyeballed the area just in case we could see it. I went back to my car grab my detectors and proceeded to search for his ring.

Much like everyone I have helped in the past I could sense his concern and despair, I knew he really wanted this ring back and I too was hoping I could find it for him. After around 10 minutes bingo… I found his ring under the tree covered u but just enough gold to catch my eye.

I have to tell you I get just as excited as the people I find the rings for, It was a 4 hour drive for both of us, I knew he was very hopeful as was,  because it would’ve been a very long 4 hour drive. back home if we didn’t find it.

From Ash to $$Cash$$

Most of my calls are for finding lost jewellery but you get some calls that are not.  My mission, if I chose to accept it, was in regards to finding a person’s grandfather’s ashes that was buried in the backyard in a mason jar, a year ago…  (His name was George)

It was a 2 Hour dive for me to get to her location, when I got there we discussed the search area, I also found out that she was being evicted from her home, so it was crucial that I find the ashes.

She wasn’t comfortable being on camera so I decided to just record the basic… Some of the search area and hopefully the recovery of the ashes. After 15 minutes the lady had to go to the washroom so she left me searching, only a minute after she went into the house I got a good signal and found her grandfather’s ashes, I left it where I found it for her to dig up. When she came out of the house I said ”I found George” I saw a look of disbelief, pure joy, and excitement all at once.

She asked me where?  I took her to the spot and showed her where i found it, she reached into the hole and grabbed it and as soon as it came out of the earth I could tell this was not George’s ashes! She quickly said I’m sorry I lied it’s $$Cash$$ So my search went from Ash to Cash! I found $12,500 in a mason jar that was in the ground and lost for over 1 year. She told me it was driving her crazy, she dug holes everywhere but could not find it, she apologized for lying but she was afraid of what her friend told her and not to trust anybody. I completely understand why she said what she said, the end result is I was so happy to be able to reconnect her with her money that she had saved for years.

She went on to explain that she was very nervous when Covid 19 hit, she heard rumours of banks closing their doors, she raced to the bank and took out her savings and buried it.

I just wonder how many people have done this in the past, forgotten where they buried their treasure and then sadly move or even pass away, leaving behind their life savings in the ground for some lucky person to find one day.

After talking for an hour or so this young lady was going back to the bank that day and let me know its now safe back in her Bank!

How to find a lost ring in snow…

I got a distress call early evening Saturday in regards to a lost diamond engagement ring in Chilliwack. After talking for 20 minutes we arrange a time and place to meet the next day, originally I was looking to meet around noon but the young man asked if I could do it sooner as his wife was struggling with the fact that she lost her engagement ring.

They even told me they bought a metal detector and search for it also 10 or more people walking by the time stop to help search in the snow unfortunately finding a platinum diamond ring in the snow is virtually impossible. The fact that they bought a metal detector doesn’t always mean they’re going to fine with Dave Lost. If you have never used a metal detector it would be hard to understand how it works and how to properly search for it. I have 50 years of a Metal Detecting Experience and lots of lessons I have learned over the years on wear rings turn up, it’s not always where you think they’re going to be.

After meeting the young couple they showed me where they believe the ring could be, they cleverly marked two trees so they could get back to the area… Very smart thing to do because sometimes people don’t always get you back to the exact area. After searching for close to 30 minutes and no Ring the young lady went to the second location she thought it may have come off her finger and that was by the lake, her husband stayed behind to watch me and shortly after I found her beautiful diamond ring and surprised her husband. We agreed to go to the lake and surprise his wife!

Today I got a phone call from a young lady who told me she got upset and threw her ring at around midnight the day before. She went on to tell me she knew the exact location and that they had been back twice that night searching for it, once with their phone flashlight and later with a metal detector they borrowed from a friend.

Unfortunately they couldn’t find it and wanted to have me come out and take a look, after talking for a little while I got in my car and drove out to meet the couple. One of the hardest things to do is tell a stranger that you got mad and threw your ring, well it happens and we are human! We get mad.

When I got there the young couple were just arriving we talked for a little bit and she walked me over to where she knew she had thrown the ring the night before. I asked my typical questions, she showed me where she was standing when she threw the ring and as she was making the throwing motion I look towards the area and we both saw the ring at the same time!  On the ground in plain sight! In the same area they were searching the night before with a metal detector and a flashlight, strangely it was just sitting there for anyone to see and people were walking on that sidewalk and could’ve easily found it before us.

I do believe in good luck and this was her lucky day! What a beautiful ring! The only thing I could think of was maybe the night before while they were looking for it they may have kicked a leaf over top of it and then it just blew away at some point in the day.

Last night around 10 pm I received a call from a young man who told me his friend lost a very special gold ring in the snow. After asking a few questions we set up for a meeting the next morning at 10 am. I told you were kind of hoping I would come out that evening but because of the ice cold conditions I felt it was better to meet the next morning, knowing nobody would be looking for his ring in the snow in a parking lot near their house.

When I arrived I met two young men and we discussed the search area and as expected it really didn’t take long to find his smile! Every search is unique and different and sometimes you go in thinking it’s going to be quick it turns out to be one of the longest searches you’ve ever done. There’s a thing called Murphy’s Law and things just don’t happen as you think they should, that being said his ring was sitting right beside a big iron lid for city water. I knew and I wasn’t finding the ring it must’ve been close to that so I kick the snow away from the iron lid and bingo!

Two good friends and a successful morning!

I received a text message for help in regards to a young man who lost his wedding band in the snow on the side of the road. I contacted them right away and talk to his wife about the search, she said she found my directory on her Facebook page, someone reached out and told her to contact TheRingFinders. (Thank You FaceBook!)

As it was getting late we made arrangements to meet the next morning at 10 AM, I met Cam and we drove to the location, the road was a sheet of ice and snow temperatures have been as low as 6° -12 very cool temperatures. Cam told me the story on how he lost his ring. He was driving back home from a walk with his family when they came across an accident, a truck had slid off the road backwards into a very deep ditch. They got out to see if they needed help and found out there was a dog in the back of the pick up in the canopy Cam helped rescue the dog and in the midst of all the excitement he realized as he was driving home his ring was missing.

After hearing this story I felt confident his ring must be there somewhere but I was also hopeful it didn’t make it into the water because it would be too deep and too cold and too dangerous to do a ring search. After doing a grid search for close to one hour I found his beautiful wedding band in the snow and grass halfway down the embankment and thankfully not in the water. I was able to surprise Cam with his ring, you can see in the video how much these circles of love mean to people.

Yesterday December 26, I got a message from a young man who asked me for help to find his lost white gold wedding band  in the snow. He lost his ring while tobogganing with his daughter, he took off his glove and his ring must have fallen off his finger into the snow somewhere. I was at my grandson’s that day giving him his Christmas presents and spend some time with him, we love and miss him so much, he lives on the island. After our visit we took a ferry back home to the mainland, I met up with Sean and he showed me the approximate area where he believed he lost his ring.

Sean spent hours in the snow looking for his ring that day but did not find it. I started grid searching the area and did not find it where he thought it could’ve been, this is no big deal as most time people put me in the wrong area. The most important thing is to expand the grid until you find it, the search took me a total of 20 minutes before I found this beautiful white gold ring.

Oh yeah by the way it was 16° very cold my moustache was freezing lol thankfully the search only took 20 minutes and we both were on our way back to our homes, mind you I was on my way back to a cell phone search in a big park.

I truly love my job, I have the best job in the world, I get to find peoples lost smiles and see how it affects their lives!
