Lost Platinum Wedding Band at Ala Moana Beach Park…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when I got a call from Charles whose a Wedding Photographer on Oahu. While treading water in about 6 feet of depth Charles’ Platinum Wedding Band slipped off and disappeared in the low visibility and sandy bottom. A few people dove down but were unable to find his ring. Charles used my services last year for the same ring so he gave me a call. I had just returned from church and I told Charles I’d load up my gear and head down to the beach. Since the ring was lost near the drop off to about 12 feet depth this was going to be a scuba hunt. As usual the parking was non existent but when I arrived a car left and Charles guarded the spot for me. Perfect timing again! “Thank you Jesus” Charles & I walked down to the beach and he showed me the area he was treading water. I donned my scuba gear and headed to the area. I decided to start at the top of the slope and work parallel to the shore then work deeper on each pass. On the top of the slope it was relatively good visibility but as I worked down the slope the visibility actually zeroed out in some areas. At about eight feet down the viz was nil so I decided I better go perpendicular to the shore and work up and down the slope so I would have some viz. I was able to get to the bottom of the slope and stay on grid by the line I was drawing in the sand although the viz was like 1-2 feet at best. On about the fourth leg at the bottom of the slope I got that nice low tone growl of Platinum. Now to find the ring in zero viz. I scooped under the Excal coil and on the third grab the target was in my hand. I slowly moved up the slope until I could see my fist. I opened my hand and there was Charles Platinum Wedding Band. I put it on my pinky finger and surfaced. Charles was on the beach and I gave him the thumbs up that I found it. Elapsed time about 20 minutes. I handed the ring to Charles and we agreed we didn’t want to ever see each other again. We burst out laughing! I did tell him their was a young lady that has used our services three times. Aloha to Charles!

Lost Gold and Diamonds Heirloom Ring at Marriott Beach Resort Lagoon…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This Ring Find began Tuesday, Feb 15th when I received a text from Sara who was from Las Vegas Nevada and on vacation staying with her husband at the Marriott Beach Resort. She was laying in about 1-2 feet of water near shore when her Gold & Diamonds Heirloom ring came off and disappeared. They were now home in Vegas so we started texting and exchanging photos of the area to hunt. It was early enough in the day that I grabbed my detecting gear and headed to the resort. Once there I compared pics and called Sara once more to be sure. I started the grid on the right and worked to the left. The waters were turbulent from a monster NW swell but close to shore in this corner of the lagoon it was decent. On about the fourth leg of the grid I got a nice tone on the Nox and in one scoop there was Sara’s gorgeous heirloom ring in the scoop. I immediately went ashore and texted Sara a pic of her ring. She was obviously ecstatic and very grateful I was able to recover her ring. I mailed it the next morning and you can see in the pic it’s safely home on Sara’s finger. Aloha to Sara!

Lost Gold & Platinum Heirloom Ring at Waikiki Beach…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when I got a call from Nicole who was on vacation in Waikiki from Alberta, Canada. Nicole told me while her Mom was taking her ring off to remove the sand as she was pulling on the ring it popped off and disappeared in the sand. They tried with some help from other tourists to locate the ring but Waikiki’s soft sand is very good at hiding rings! Nicole googled lost ring read my blog and decided to give me the call. I told her I just returned from a hunt so it would be easy to pack up my gear and head to Waikiki. I told her I could be there in a few minutes and we could meet in front of the Moana Surfrider. I was there in a flash and Nicole escorted me down to the beach where her Mom and brother Cameron were waiting nervously for my arrival. Mom asked what could she do to assist and I said lets just move these towels and beach stuff out of the area so I can hunt. The beach was packed with tourists and every eye was on what I was doing. The first target on the Nox was a solid 12-13 and in one scopp there was Mom’s gorgeous heirloom ring in the scoop. She was overcome with joy and asked if she could hug me. I accept and give hugs regularly. It’s pure Aloha! We hugged and took a few pics. Of course all the tourists were clapping and whistling. Another vacation saved. Aloha to Nicole, Mom & Cameron!

Lost White Gold & Diamond Engagement Ring at Ko Olina Lagoon…FOUND!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when I got a text from Elaine who lives in Ewa Beach on Oahu. While enjoying the waters of the lagoon her White Gold and solitaire Diamond Engagement ring went missing. She wasn’t exactly sure when it came off but thankfully was only in a small area on the beach and in the water. She sent me pics of the area marked and one of the ring. I told Elaine I’d hunt the next morning. When I arrived the next morning as the sun was rising I entered the water at the left side of the grid and worked to the right. Thankfully this year the waters at Ko Olina have remained quite warm. I walked out to chest deep water and back up the shoreline on each leg. As I was nearing the end of the grid (Like the last leg) I finally got a loud target near shore and in one scoop there was Elaine’s beautiful ring in the scoop. We met up this morning for the return. Love the smiles. Aloha to Elaine.

Lost Platinum with Black Diamonds & Blue Sapphires Wedding Band at Waikiki Beach…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when I got a call from Ray saying his husband Mike had lost his Platinum with Black Diamonds & Blue Sapphires Wedding Band in the dry sand on Waikiki Beach, just in from the Duke Kahanamoku Statue. They arrived from New York and were celebrating their one year Anniversary. I told Ray we could meet at the Waikiki Police Station and he could show me where on the beach to look. I arrived about 20 minutes later and we walked down to the beach area. To my surprise there was a 4 inch deep square box emptied of sand where they had been sifting the sand through a net in hopes of finding the ring. That had taken a few hours. Mike told me before he went in the water he wrapped his ring in a T-Shirt and when he returned he opened the shirt forgetting that moment the ring was inside, it fell out and disappeared somewhere in the sand. I asked Mike to draw a grid in the sand and essentially it was the 30 by 20 foot box where they had removed the sand. I started the search and on the first grid East & West I didn’t find the ring only a bullet casing and a few coins. I asked which direction I should extend the grid and they agreed towards a palm tree. I decided since there were no tourists in our area I should extend in every direction possible. I started the expanded grid North & South this time and on about the fifth pass I got a loud #16 on the Nox and in one scoop there was Mike’s unique ring in the scoop. It was actually out of the original grid and in the opposite direction of the palm tree. Sadly I thought, all that sand sifting from the wrong area. Regardless, Anniversary saved! Aloha to Mike & Ray.

Lost Gold and Green Quartz Stone Engagement Ring at Ulua Lagoon Ko Olina Resort…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring hunt began when my fellow ring finder on Maui Dave Sheldon texted, “Inbound ring hunt for you. Good Luck.” I then received a call from Dustin who was on a family vacation from Salt Lake City, Utah. While his daughter Sophee was in the water she noticed sand lodged in between the setting and the stone. She took her ring off to rinse and it slipped out of her fingers and into the shallow water between her legs. She thought she could just reach down and grab it, but the water was just slightly murky and she didn’t have any goggles to search. She yelled for her three sisters Sydnee, Saydee and Stevee to help her search but initially they thought she was joking. When she screamed she wasn’t they came over immediately and tried to help. Sophee started to cry and told her fiance’ Teagan the ring was taken by the ocean and they probably weren’t going to see it again. They frantically searched for about an hour and as the sun went down the water was really getting cold. Sophee was crying so much she could barely see anymore. The mask she was wearing kept fogging up to make matters worse. Finally, after reaching Dave on Maui Sophee’s father Dustin got my number. The funny part was Dustin said I was a “ring finder” so I’m sure he can find it. If it was “ring searcher” I wouldn’t be so sure. Dad’s have the best humor in difficult times! The sun was setting fast so thankfully traffic across Oahu allowed me to get there in 30 minutes. Upon arrival, Teagan and Sophee helped me create a grid and I started the search. After the hunt I didn’t find the ring so I told them let me go over and expand the grid. Sure enough on about the third grid in calf deep water I got a loud number “8” on the Nox and in one scoop I could just see a ring in the twilight. Sophee and Teagan were amazed I found it and the location was much closer to the shoreline then they imagined. Tides can deceive the hunter! Vacation saved! Aloha to Sophee & Teagan!
